Who in the world was mama Claudette. Female boss of a crime syndicate, mother, pillar of society, business woman. She was all that and then some. I enjoyed this drama, I felt that it was more than a street literature read. The storyline was way deeper. the kids felt betrayed that they never new who she actually was until she was killed. Then to have a life style forced upon you that you never expected. For the kids the decision was made for them, take over or have the remaining members of the Syndicate kill your family. What a spot to put them all in!

This was a good read, I'm have to pick up book two in the series.

This is my first Brick and Storm book. The audible version was excellent with narrators who bring personality to the many characters in this exciting plot.

When our sweet ole lady Claudia is murdered, her secrets are revealed to the 8 men and women she adopted and raised. Not only is the women they called Mama a gangster but she is also the leader of the most notorious and powerful organization of gangsters called The Syndicate. She is the one the other gangsters call Boss!

Unaware, all of Mama's kids were raised to become part of The Syndicate. The oldest Javan and his woman Shanelle will become the new leaders of the organization because of their strong alpha and leadership skills. Within their family they have a lawyer, accountant, alchemist, fighter, and engineer and they are all preparing to go head to head with the organization who probably had something to do with the murder of Mama. The problem? They lost their minds when Mama died and the family is falling apart. Jealousy, addictions, unforgiveness, lies and secrets within the family is getting in the way of the success Mama wanted for them.

I don't usually read books where the characters I am rooting for are killers and drug dealers but I am cheering for family MacPherson. This book is filled with lots of action and a plot I am hoping will result in a happy ending with the family moving away from this criminal lifestyle.

Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Quick read ... I always get a kick out urban fiction. They all seem to read the same way. But its cool, because it was entertainment.

That's what reading is all about, right. Entertainment? Well for me it is anyway.

Don't get me wrong, so books I read for knowledge.

But this genre, urban fiction is pure dee entertainment. I was not disappointed.

But I do have a couple questions:

1) who really killed Mama Claudette. It was someone she knew because she hesitated, and that was what got her killed.

2) did the Irish really kill Cory & Inez because Uncle Snap said something in the midst of the chaos that had me wondering, what was not being said.

3) towards the end when the house was raid, and Melissa got ghost. Was she working with the FBI, because I don't believe in coincidence.

That's all I'm going to say about it for now. Because I'm about to start Part 2 of the Syndicate.

No worries tho. I'm sure Javon & Shannelle will definitely get to the bottom of it. For sure.

Ruthless is, as Ruthless does

On that note, I'm out.

Happy Reading!!!!

I absolutely loved it. I am a huge fan of Carl Weber and his books and never disappoint me. I always love the romance and every book that he writes the only thing I didn't like it was a lot of characters so trying to remember some of the characters and what they did was a little hard. but the storyline was great I actually read it twice.

Held my attention but I feel some kind of way that the first issue in the book want resolved by the end of the first book. There were too many unanswered questions. Since things should have been resolved and I would have felt more excited about buying book #2.
