Sometimes life has a way of teaching lessons whether you’re ready to learn them or not…
The last place on earth Will Layton wants to be is Indigo Bay, but his younger sister needs him and he’s never been able to say no to her. But she left out a few details… like their father staying with her and the girl who dumped him years ago is living right next door.
The last person Dr. Ashley Harden thought she’d see in Indigo Bay is Will Layton, but he’s back in town and just as irresistible as when they were young. Seeing Will again is a complication that isn’t on her carefully mapped out life plan.
In spite of Ashley’s best intentions, she starts falling for Will again, but nothing has changed. She’s still focused on getting the townspeople to accept her and see her as more than the girl from the wrong side of town, while Will is determined to guard his heart at any cost.
Not the easiest road to true love… especially when secrets from the past are revealed and history threatens to repeat itself.
Sweet Sunrise is book three in the Indigo Bay Sweet Romance series. Six fabulous authors have joined together to bring you this heartwarming series set in South Carolina. Each book in the series can be read in any order so jump in at any time.
Will, the hero in Sweet Sunrise, is also a recurring town character from Kay’s Lighthouse Point series, so be sure to check out that series and her Comfort Crossing series for more small town romance.
Kay Correll is a USA Today bestselling author of sweet, heartwarming stories that are a cross between women’s fiction and contemporary romance. She is known for her charming small towns, quirky townsfolk, and the enduring strong friendships between the women in her books.
Kay splits her time between the Southwest coast of Florida and the Midwest of the U.S. and can often be found out and about with her camera, taking a myriad of photographs, often incorporating them into her book covers. When not lost in her writing or photography, she can be found spending time with her ever-supportive husband, knitting, or playing with her puppies - a cavalier who is too cute for his own good and a naughty but adorable Australian shepherd. Their five boys are all grown now and while she misses the rowdy boy-noise chaos, she is thoroughly enjoying her empty nest years.
While the story was good overall, there were some things that just didn't sit well with me. Ashley and Will were both a little over-the-top unforgiving towards one another. And I found it strange that if Will's dad was an alcoholic who had abandoned him and his sister that he would then purchase a bar. Really? Wouldn't he hesitate before fueling other men's addictions like that?
Just “meh” as far as this series of books is concerned. Ashley, seemed extremely superficial in my opinion not only judging Will from his past behavior in high school, but also her incessant need to be accepted finally as a doctor in her hometown; something she never received years before. Book just seemed to drag on with this same overtone of Will just “drifting through life with no direction”, as far as Ashley was concerned; got to be tiring! Okay for a quick read. Just “fluff” in my opinion.
Ashley and Will left Indigo Bay not on good terms. Years later they return. Both need to prove something to themselves. This story explains how difficult broken hearts are to mend when untrue assumptions remain barriers to open discussion. Another good beach read.
I've come to enjoy Kay Correll's down to earth writing style and human interest stories because they are believable. Yep! They don't rely on sensationalized sex, leaving the reader to understand love is happening by golly!
Will can't refuse his younger sister Whitney's cry for help. Even if it means going back home to Indigo Bay and facing their alcoholic father and ex high school girl friend. Things are never quite what they seem and Will has life changing decisions to make.
Not my fav of the Indigo Bay series. I don’t believe in the couple and don’t think they should of ended up together. But, the most annoying part of this book was the typos! The amount of times it says Whitney when it meant Ashley was crazy! Whitney is his sister - eww.
No one has ever said that relationship are all easy. That is what Will, Ashley, Warren, and Whitney. Sneaky little sister gets the ball rolling to help her family to talk again.
Loved this from beginning to end. Was cheering for Will. Brought both smiles and tears to my eyes. Wanted to share wedding of the two -- romantic that I am.
A fun, light read that will have you smiling as you read about two characters slowly get over their past, their secrets and come to a place of understanding.
