Two hot guys. One big lie. What's a virgin sex columnist to do?
My name is Skylar Quinn. I just moved to New York with my best friend Bridget, and I have a confession. Well, more than one. Okay, quite a few really. Fine, here goes!
Confession #1: I'm a sex columnist. Hold on, that's not really the confession. You see, I'm sort of a virgin...sex columnist.
Confession #2: I'm kind of in love with Bridget's older brother, Oliver. No, I was. No, I am. Wait, was? Am? Crap.
Confession #3: I've been avoiding Oliver for four years. Or I was until today, because he just moved in. Yes, you read that correctly. He's my new roommate. So that night we've both been pretending never happened, well, we might not be able to keep it a secret any longer.
And trust me, this is only the beginning.
From bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis, writing as Kay Marie, comes a new adult romantic comedy about a girl who'll soon discover that some secrets can't be kept forever, especially those of the heart. This is a sweet romance, perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella, Meg Cabot, and Emily Giffin!
This box set contains both full-length novels in Confessions: - Book One: Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist! - Book Two: Confessions of an Undercover Girlfriend!
Kay Marie writes sweet romantic comedies with a touch of spice. Her books are full of humor and heartache with lots of swoony moments and, of course, a HEA! Under the name Kaitlyn Davis, she also publishes YA fantasy. Publishers Weekly has said, "Davis writes with confidence and poise," while USA Today has recommended her work as "must-read romance."

Hmm... I have found this book very hard to review. There were so many things I really did enjoy about this book. And there were a lot of things that I hated. There were even a few times that I almost put the book down and gave up, but I'm not a quitter, and not finishing it would have bothered me. But I am glad that I finished it. It wasn't a bad book. Just a little drawn out. Maybe It should have been 1 book instead of two. Sky was just a little on the annoying and naive side. And I know there are a lot of naive women out there, but Sky definitely takes the cake. But I did really like her best friend. She was kinda awesome. The narration was pretty good. I mean Annie does terrible guy voices but they were so bad that they were good. Weird, I know. But when it came to the girl's voices, she was AMAZING. Sky, Bridget, the girls Sky worked with, all those were perfect! As I said, I had a really hard time reviewing this one because I'm so back and forth on it. But overall, I was mostly happy I listened to this and would definitely love to listen and review for them again! ~This book was given to me at my request. I am providing a voluntary and honest review.
A nice duet. It begins with inexperienced Skye getting a “promotion” to sex columnist. Hilarity ensues…but, more than that.
The books are filled with comedy, angst, love/lust, friendship and more. The first book was focused on Skye’s new job, new co-workers, best friend, new boyfriend. Her anxiety over the most minor things was making me feel jittery. By the second book, I needed a Xanax.
After the original HEA, the story continues in book 2. Skye wants to keep her relationship secret, so she continuously lies to her best friend. Her anxiety is in overdrive & she almost loses everything good in her life. In the last 25% of the book, Skye starts to come to terms with her life problems & her character growth is phenomenal.
Well worth the read. The bad: the length. This didn’t need to be 2 books. It took me forever to get through the duet because it started to become a slog. (The begin date up there is not the date I started the book.)
Just from the title you know that there's gonna be lots of laugh out loud moments . I loved the charachters in this duet. I loved Skye with all her anxiety and I felt for her . Bridget is the friend we all need and Patrick oh he's the sweetest the things he did to Skye to win her over swoon . God he's like the perfect boyfriend. And Ollie oh Ollie there were moments where I didn't like him but I understood him better throughout the book. I loved the development in this story and I felt the charachters happiness and heartbreak. I always love when an author can make you feel the heartthrob that her heroes are feeling and this author didn't fail in delivering all the emotions the happy and the sad. I loved the ending and the role everyone played for our heroes to get back together.
A fun, quirky, charming and sweet read. I've been throwing the word charming around a lot in reviews lately, but does it ever fit this duet. Skye is the insecure, anxious and quick to worry person most of us can easily relate to, especially with her adventures in the land of clumsy.
While the first book was a good read - it wasn't a surprise what was happening. The second book is the standout of the pair for me. We get so much more of Ollie and his thinking...his feelings for her really ring true. Which is handy when you consider how he went along with the keeping quiet about them idea. It was all kinds of just sighs of adorable with the last few chapters. Skye and Ollie ftw!
*I'm a lucky fish and got the read from NetGalley.*
Title: Confessions: The Complete Duet Author: Kay Marie Format: Audio Narrator: Annie Abate Genre: Romantic Comedy, Best friend's brother Standalone: This is the complete duet Part of a Series: Both books of the Confessions duet POV: Sky Steam Level: Slow burn to steamy but not explicit 4/5
Overall this was a fun duet. However, I could only take Sky and her neurosis a little bit at a time. The "confession" format of the book was fun. I was engaged enough to finish the story but only in little doses at a time. If you like drama then you'll like this book but if drama drives you nuts then stay away.
I received this audiobook for free from Audiobook Obsession. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I listened to the Audible version. The performance by Annie Abate made this audiobook stand out. This duet contains the two parts of the series presented together back to back. If you happened to listen to them separately, it breaks at a slight cliffhanger, but it doesn't feel like it stopped in the middle of the story.
I preferred the first part, as the main character's actions in the second got even further away from what I wanted her to do. Her lack of self-confidence gets old, especially when she knows what she should do, but doesn't.
I couldn't really relate to the character's actions, but I still found the story entertaining. I actually laughed out loud at the scene with the parents in part two's confession 21.
This duet is fun, sassy, laugh out loud hilarious. Skye always had a crush on Ollie, her best friends brother. Her awkward insecurities, regarding dating shine through. She always relies on her besty, Bridget, to help her pick up the pieces. But until one day, her secrets, lies, insecurities and confusion could cost her best friend and the love of her life. This story has so many laugh out loud and tender moments that brought tears. I listened to the Audible version, This story was exciting and wonderful to listen. Annie Abate is a wonderful narrator and portraying all the emotions, love, angst, sarcasm, and feelings of despair to each and every Character. It was perfect, I really enjoyed listening to this story. 🎧audiobookobsessionreviewer.🎧
This box set contains both full-length novels in Confessions: - Book One: Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist! - Book Two: Confessions of an Undercover Girlfriend! Confessions: The Complete Duet by Kay Marie is my first read by this author. I liked the story but it did take me a little while to warm up to Skylar but Oliver was a quick draw. Fun, humour and romance a combination that works well, I look forward to seeing what else this author has written
This was a really fun box set it was a great read and had me laughing out loud at times I had read the first book previously and just loved reading it again with the second book. If you have not tried these give them a go you won't be disappointed they are well written and you will be absolutely hooked right until the end.
Book 1 So so funny. Kay has written an absolute gem here. I’ve been laughing all the way through. Annie really makes these characters come alive. The storyline is fantastic.
Book 2 Again the humour carries on in this book. I absolutely loved it. Kept me entertained for hours! Amazing narration from Annie. Written very well. Great storyline and fantastic characters. #audiobookobsessionreviewer
🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧 Confession: what a great listen!
I liked this duet. It’s fun and hilarious with drama and a little angst. But Sky did kind of annoy me 🙈 at times. A little slow at times but it works. Ollie is so sexy. So patient and kind. Overall great listen.
So the end was worth the read however this did not need to be 2 books. I found it difficult to get through the first half of this. Skye is just a hot mess and it got to be ridiculous. Pick it up in the middle.
The protagonist probably ends up growing some self respect, and I sure didn’t have any when I was 22, but I could get past the first few chapters (which started out humorous and promising) when she kept letting The Guy walk all the fuck over her. Not cute. Not fun.
