I promised I'd stay a virgin through college... but then I met him. My best friend and I made a promise: we won't sleep with ANYONE until we're done with school. Grades come first. So when she pulls me along to our first college party, I expect to spend the night fighting off drunk guys. I never expected I'd kiss one of them... It was a huge mistake-- one I made a few more times before the party was over. But this guy is smoldering, he's hard to resist. He throws me off so much that I blurted out how I'm a virgin to him. Why did that make him MORE attracted to me? As long as I can stay away from this guy, I know I can keep my promise. Then I walk into my first cheer squad practice, see that he's my head coach, and I want to explode. I want to vanish! I want... I want to sleep with him so badly. I promised I wouldn't. Maybe promises are made to be broken.
This is a standalone novella with a HEA and NO cheating! Penny Wylder writes just that-- wild romances. Happily Ever Afters are always better when they're a little dirty, so if you're looking for a page turner that will make you feel naughty in all the right places, jump right in and leave your panties at the door!
This was a short and sweet novella. April starts college in a few weeks and decides to go with her friend to a frat party. There, she meets this guy that kind of saves her from a girl fight and they just git it off instantly. After April blurts out that she's a virgin, although she was divided in seeking him at the campus and never wanting to see him again, she can't stop thinking about the guy and fate brings them together at the oddest time with the most awkward scenario. After that, Carter is not afraid of going after what he wants and, right now, he wants April.
This novella was really cute, hot and funny. I found myself with a smile during the whole time I read it. Penny Wylder is an amazing author and I love her work.
This novella is absolutely perfect and I loved every minute of reading this sweet sexy read. I love reading Penny Wylder's books as she seems to know exactly what I want from a book and this definitely didn't disappoint. This novella has the perfect mix of a sweet storyline and super hot moments that will get your kindle sizzling and you reaching for a tall glass of ice water to cool yourself down. Carter Hale is absolutely amazing and the perfect book boyfriend. He is gorgeous, athletic and so swoon worthy he would make everyone's panties melt with his sexy words and caring nature. I love April Collins as she's a sassy smart mouth with fantastic banter. This book is so swoon worthy and makes you feel all warm inside. It seriously is a perfect 5 star read and I highly recommend you one click it as soon as you can. Sometimes pacts are made to be broken and sometimes by breaking them you get everything you could possibly dream of. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Finally!!!!! A Penny Wylder book that reminded me of the quality reads I read from her from only a few short months ago!!!!!
Although it’s not perfect, the relationship between these two characters are more realistic and feature a healthy relationship that has room for growth. After making a pact with her best friend to not lose her virginity unless it’s with someone truly special, April finds herself in a predicament when Carter enters into her life. They have an explosive relationship from the start after meeting in a beginning of the year part in presumably college. Carter and April continues their relationship despite Carter being the head coach of the college’s cheerleading team and April being one of the very best cheerleaders.
Of course, the secret is revealed that April is no longer a virgin and soon she has to win back the trust of her bestfriend but for the most part, this novella is pact with steamy love scenes that make us all quiver and shake.
The only problems I have with this book is that April is pretty young and the nice little twist in the end makes me worry for the future of their relationship. In addition, why was April’s best friend so peeved when she wasn’t a virgin anymore like seriously her body her choice forget your stupid promise you made when you were 2 and get laid already.
I absolutely loved this sweet OTT virgin romance. Funny dialogue, classic naive virgin and thus time it's the hot coach. Unlike some of these Insta Love novellas this was also a great story. Definitely recommend.
I like Penny Wylder's books, and I liked this one, too. I loved Carter, liked April, really liked the way they met and the complications that an ordinary life threw at them. It seemed natural and organic, and I enjoyed that.
The love scenes were both hot and caring. I liked the way Carter was gentle and tender, knowing April was a virgin, but he was also sexy and demanding. Wish I'd had a guy like that my first time! He went out of his way to make April's first time memorable, and that's a real hero.
The thing that didn't work as well for me was Kara and the "pact." It was just overdone. I couldn't understand why it all had to be so much Kara's business, and why April was living her life at Kara's direction. She wasn't that kind of character in any other way, so it didn't ring true for me. And for Kara to overreact the way she did when the truth about April's and Carter's relationship came out was harder to believe.
That said, Carter and April made up for Kara, and I'd recommend the book without hesitation.
I liked almost everything about this story except two things - 1) the cheerleading: never did it, never wanted to, and can't connect with it though this did a good job getting me close 2) pregnancy scare - you mean two girls who are smart enough to make a virginity pact due to paying attention in health are Not going to either be on the pill or Know about the morning after pill? Having a baby your freshman year of college would suck balls and lead to you making like a million less over the course of your lifetime statistically. Although I can buy them falling in love after one month, especially since this dude is one of the 0% I ever met in college who cares about giving a woman an orgasm, not being prepared and getting pregnant your first year is Not an optimal outcome. Either way 3.8/5 overall and 7.5/10 sex o meter. Either way, good reminder that I need to be telling every young lady I meet - what's the one thing I wish I'd done more - masterbate! Girls can demand their due if they don't know what they're asking for!
Penny has a way with words that can create an intense couple even when the story is short and to the point. TVP is about two friends who make a pact to wait for Prince Charming to give him their innocence. A big problem comes up for April when she meets this gorgeous specimen in a frat party.
I really liked the friendly connection between Kara and April, growing up together and bonding around books and cheerleading. It felt warm and cute. Of course, I loved that Carter is a gentleman, so respectful and mindful of April's first time. He makes sure it is memorable, pleasurable, and I can't stress enough how gloriously detailed and scorching-hot it gets between this coach and this cheerleader.
Plenty of action for you to melt for!
Catty adversaries, sneaking around campus, a romantic date and an epilogue with a surprise, all these things wrap up a fun, sweet and sexy read to lighten up any day... or night ;-)
5.0 out of 5 stars Hot & perfect first-time loving novella
I received an Advance Reader Copy for The Virgin Promise written by Penny Wylder and voluntarily reviewed this book. April Collins meets Carter Hale, who saves her from a really nasty girl bent on doing doing damage socially to her during a party. Things go from zero to sexy when they take things further in a dark room, but all action comes screeching to a halt when her good angel reminds her of the pact that she had made with her best friend Kara to remain a virgin. The situation between them turns taboo when April realizes that Carter is the replacement cheerleading coach, and she is trying out for the squad. But Carter has nothing to hide and wants her, all of her.
This is another great story by this author, with a very lucky April and a so-sexy Carter, who is the guy every woman should be hoping for as their first time-time lover!
I love author Penny Wylder books! I voluntarily reviewed a courtesy copy I received I quick and light read. OMG..I remember making a pact with close friends I made in college to remain a virgin. April meets Carter at a party where he rescues her. The attraction is Instantaneous. Their are ups and downs and others out to sabotage their new found love and relationship. April makes a pact with her best friend from high school about remaining a virgin. They also plan to cheer together on the cheer squad. I loved watching the romance between April and Carter develop and grow. I highly recommend this book. Also the author. I can't wait to read the next Penny Wylder book.
I liked this one. Very cute, I liked the chemistry. But the whole pact with her friend...it was kind of creepy. Her friend was so adamant about it, I would have liked a backstory with it. Maybe her friend was assaulted, or hurt as a child...it would have helped to see her frame of mind because her obsession of NO SEX was just weird, I couldn't wrap my head around it. And then what was with the captain of the cheer squad? She was in the story for like 5 minutes, caused some problems and then...poof...issue resolved and everything is honky dory. I dunno. This could have had more potential if it was a little longer with a little more detail.
**I received and advanced readers copy of The Virgin Promise for my honest review** As always Penny Wylder hit it out of the parkagain!! I loved this book. It's about 2 friends (Kara & April) who agree to hang onto there v-card until they find the right guy....they go to a frat party and April meets Carter...it was like insta love between the two of them. You just have to read to find out how it all works out!!! Great story, with some adversaries, some fun and lots of sweet sweet sexy Carter (sigh)!!!
Talk about instant attraction and chemistry that's off the charts. A virgin that made a pact with her friend to save herself until after college changes her mind when she meets someone at a frat party. Promises can be broken, right? Imagine her dismay when he turns out to be the coach and she's a cheerleader. No spoilers here - but it a quick romantic read that's sweet, fun and sassy with a happy ending . Penny Wylder's the best at these kind of stories. I received an arc copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Penny Wylder is keeping it sweet and sexy in The Virgin Promise. April and her best friend make a pact to remain virgins until they each find "The One." April meets Carter at a party not realizing who he was. They can't help the way they feel about each other but April is worried about hurting her bf feelings if she breaks the pact. Carter is totally swoon worthy and you will catch yourself cheering him on and he trying to convince April that he is not going anywhere!!
Penny Wylder knows how to write sweet and steamy romance! April and Carter were so sweet and steamy together. It was never really clear just how much older he was, but he was so amazing with her. I really couldn't find a thing to dislike about him. I heartily disliked Marian, and I don't think there's a single person who could like her. This was a great quick read, character-driven and thoroughly entertaining. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Okay, still the same basic virgin storyline but this was short and to the point. Characters weren't overly annoying and it flowed nicely. But seriously she slept with her coach! Doesn't matter he isn't a faculty member, he's still employed by the university! And even if he was assistant at the time, coaches don't go to frat parties with members of the squad. Heck if he was a grad student you don't go to frat parties. Just not realistic .
Honestly, I've read better by this author but this wasn't awful. It just wasn't memorable. Case in point: I actually finished this a couple days ago but only just today realized I hadn't marked it as "Read" or given it a review yet. Typical semi-taboo romance of a young girl (a college Freshman) falling for her slightly older professor--actually he was her cheer coach but you get the gist. Again, not a terrible story, just not a GREAT one.
Great story. I mean everyone loves a quickie! The reason for the 4 stars...I felt like the story just ended. There was no real follow up on Marian (all her issues were implied). There was no epilogue as to what happened. I would have like to know. The story itself was cute. Engaging characters (though sometimes April was annoying). But I did enjoy it.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
A cheerleader falls for and has sex with her cheerleader coach. She promised her best friend that they would remain virgins in college. I guess her bff thought if they didn't remain virgins they wouldn't have much in common. I know silly plot. Honestly, it had great sex scenes that were hot. Nice epilogue. I liked the fact that she got pregnant when they did it with no protection. That is reality!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
April made a promise to her friend that they would stay virgins until they were older. When she meets Carter at a party the two have an instant connection. When she finds out the last he's the cheer coach the two hook up.
The story is hot and sweet. A fun insta-love story. Penny Wylder is always a hot, fast read when I want an escape!!
I love reading Penny Wylder books she always writes storylines that you can't put down!
This book has a bit of everything BFF's Kara and April make a virginity pact .... but an unfortunate incident with an adversary during a frat party has the hero Carter coming to April's rescue where their attraction begins....
You won't want to put this one done .... a very fun and steamy read!
Gotta say this one was just okay for me. It was pretty short so it was lacking emotion and connection for me. I felt he was mainly concerned with sex and her bff was way over dramatic. I would have liked a little more feels between him and her. I did however like the surprise at the ending.
They met by accident, but the chemistry was there and she almost broke the pact. However, with a little help of fate, it turns out he is her coach. Can she keep her pact or will her attraction be too much? A sweet little romance about finding a special someone unexpectedly with some hot steamy thrown in.
The MCs were so sweet and comfy —and now I’m curious about Kara! What is there for her in the future, hmm? Five stars. There was the perfect amount of conflict and sexual tension. I certainly enjoyed this read. Gonna get the proper information about the tantalizing next book Penny suggested at the end of this delightful quickie. Can’t wait to know how it’s going to be! I’m definitely a fan.
This was one of Penny's best books. I loved the storyline and it was very addicting. The characters were amazingly described and realistic. The book was hot and very erotic. Panty melting! Awesome Story!
As always an awesomely quick read. I It’s, quick and the hot attraction between the coach and a freshman on the cheer team. It plays out so well. I If your a fan of Penny's and then you really should read this.
A adult read for people who are in to the series recommended highly can't wait for the next one of the series a really enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series
Loved Carter and April. Such a cute romance. The promise that Kara and April made to each other had outgrown it's purpose. They were both at a place in their lives where love was possible and it happened for Carter and April.
I loved this story. The chemistry is so well described and the storyline realistic. As always an amazing novel by Penny Wylder. Feel instantly connected to the main characters. Can understand her struggle to date her coach. I think it is a bit childish with the promise when they are that age, but it worksout well in the end :)
I absolutely love little reads like this book. The setting and the writing of this book is very well done and when I read it I got lost in the book its as though I'm in the book watching the story unfold between April and carter. Would highly reccomend x
