I enjoyed meeting Dana and her husband Luke who were just trying to make ends meet while Dana went from one temp job to another. Her current job went sideways really fast when she discovered a dead body her first week at work.And that wasn’t gonna be the end of it either! I really enjoyed this easy-moving mystery that had a combo of humor and intrigue.

For anyone looking to avoid f-bombs in their reading, this may not be for you. It’s not as bad as it could be but it wasn’t really what I’m normally used to either. But I was already sucked into the mystery and just kinda ignored any language and tried to enjoy the mystery. If it helps, the context most were used in reflected a very desperate and scared person who’d been tossed headfirst into a murder investigation she never expected to be in.

I think Veronica Boaz is a talented writer. I hope she writes more in this series as I found this particular story interesting. It was also humorous in spots although not billed as humor. The characters were also very memorable. Most have extreme physical characteristics which makes it easy to visualize and remember them as you progress through the book. The book is also a good length -- not too long and short enough to read it and get an answer to the questions in the book within a reasonable amount of reading time.

Overall, a great book and I hope to see more in the series!
