Initially, I skipped past this book because while the cover was intriguing, it was also off putting. When I decided to read the blurb I was curious. Then I reread the blurb and decided that this just sounded too unique to turn away. I am so glad I decided to delve into this work by Ms. Omah.

Abigail is struggling to overcome a traumatic past and in the process is allowing all kinds of new things into her life. One of those items is Jayden. He’s overconfident, egocentric, and one heck of a book boyfriend once this story gets to moving. Jayden is that wonderful alpha hero that absolutely must have his woman at any cost. Unfortunately, there is a cost and he almost loses her due to some of his earlier decisions.

I had never even heard of sexsomnia but I can totally see it as something that would knock a person off kilter when they learn they have it. What kind of trust would it take to sleep next to someone if you were the person suffering with this condition? To know that at any point during the night, while you are completely unaware, you are making sexual advances towards the person next to you.

This is a fast paced read with a couple that are both emotionally scarred and somewhat unwilling to let it go. Told in dual points of view, I absolutely loved Jayden’s train of thoughts. He is such a man. Sometimes you’d like to just smack him a good one for his idiotic ways. Of course, that’s all a part of what makes him incredibly appealing.

I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review. It will certainly be one of those books that I’ll always remember.

Safety - The H considers having sex with another woman at the very end of the book but it is only a brief thought and he is very drunk; he is interrupted from his thoughts

I was pleasantly surprised while reading this book. At first I wasn’t really digging Mr. King. ”I could make them eat my shit if I wanted to..” Whoa man let’s not get dirty now.. But then as I read on I was like: This author has some mad skills.
description
This writer has some deep and amazing catch phrases. I was a highlighting fool! Selective perception – genius! There was a lot of back and forth between Jayden and Abigail, normally I would be like:
description
But the author did such a good job at making us fall in love with the characters I had to keep reading! Jayden was your typical playboy who gets what he wants, with some serious attitude problems. The kicker was he was also so sweet!
There really was only one thing that bothered me throughout the entire book. And that was the excess use of an exclamation mark! ”Good night!””You should see a doctor, Abby!””I need to take this!” …. ”Come on, then!” . I understand the need to point out a strong feeling (i.e. shouting) but if it is overused it is almost non-believable.
All in all a Great story!

Sexsomnia
Definition:

Sleep sex, or sexsomnia, is a condition in which a person will engage in sexual activities while asleep. This condition falls within the broad class of sleep disorders known as parasomnias. In extreme cases, sexsomnia has been alleged, and accepted, as at least a part of the cause of sexual assault, including rape.

The proposed medical diagnosis is NREM arousal parasomnia – sexual behaviour in sleep. Sexsomnia is considered a type of non-rapid eye movement sleep (NREM) parasomnia. Sexsomniacs do not remember the acts that they perform while they are asleep.

Sexsomnia can co-occur alongside other sleep disorders such as sleepwalking, sleep apnea, night terrors and bedwetting and can be triggered by stress, previous sleep deprivation and excessive consumption of alcohol or other drugs. Sleep related epilepsy may be associated with sexual arousal, pelvic thrusting and orgasms. Sexsomnia episodes may be triggered by physical contact with a bed partner.

Sexsomnia, which is a fairly new medically recognized behaviour, has been used in criminal defense cases of rape.

"5- I wanna fall asleep next to you stars!"

Wow!
What an incredibly well-written story with such a unique storyline.
I had not heard of this disorder and was stunned to discover that it actually existed.
I feel so much compassion and empathy for those who suffer from it.
I can't image not being in control of my actions or have no recollection of what my body is doing, ESPECIALLY while engaged in sexual activity.

Abigail is the protagonist who suffers from this disorder.
She is a strong, educated, self-confident woman. She stands up for herself and doesn't settle for anything less than what she deserves.
Where she lacks control in her sleep, she makes up for in her waking hours.
She also has herself enrolled in a study to find out what actually happens while she sleeps so she can eventually have a healthy relationship with someone without worrying about falling asleep next to them and being assaulted.
Abigail's also in a desperate need of a job.
Enter Jayden King.
Partner of the 4 Kings Group.
Abilgail has applied for a position as his personal assistant.
When the initial interview doesn't go as planned, Abigail writes the job off and thinks nothing of it.
Jayden can't believe what just happened. No one has ever spoken to him like that and called him on his shit.
Now he's intrigued and curious to find out more about this sassy, smart, quick-witted woman who just told him off.

This is where the story gets really good.
The character development, story, and writing are great.
Jayden does some stuff in the story that I really don't agree with, but for the sake of the story, I understand why he did it.

This is the first book I read by this author, and I look forward to reading more of her work.

Believing in my dreams is my religion!

Even as a child, Anya Omah (born in 1984 in Dortmund, Germany) loved inventing stories, often to the dismay of her parents. The older she got, the more elaborate those stories became, until finally she discovered the craft of transporting emotions through pen and paper… and breathed life into her characters.

When her debut novel, Von Dir Verführt (English: Seduced by You), stormed the German charts, the medical lab assistant and business psychologist decided to believe in her dream! She turned her passion for writing into a full-time career.

The blurb to this book really grabbed my attention. I love a good office romance especially with a sassy heroine. I never really thought anything of the title and that it would have a huge role in the story.

I admit, I had a hard time with her issues with Sexsomnia and what happened to her because of it. It did play a pretty big role in the book and it will be a trigger issue for some readers.

When this wasn't the topic in the story, I really liked it. I enjoyed the banter between the main characters and while Abigail was sassy...she did have moments that it was bit over the top.

Overall, I really like the writing style of this author and I'm interested in reading more from her. ARC provided by NetGalley.

Sexsomnia - Sleepless in Manhattan is the story of Jayden King and Abigail Davis.
Abigail is set to interview for a job but it starts off bad from the start. She is running late and she has forgotten the cloths that she just bought to change into at the job interview site. The taxi cab can't go any faster and doesn't know any short cuts. But after getting a confident booster from her sister Abigail goes head on into the building where she immediately runs into Jayden. Jayden immediately asked her whys she is hear and when she tells him he says "I ask because you look like you're about to go plow a field". He then goes to tell her to go see HR and to schedule another appointment because he doesn't like wasting his time. Well Abigail goes into him with the same smart attitude he gave her, and then she pretty much told him where to put his second interview at.
Jayden doesn't know what to think since he is used to people falling at his feet and women throwing themselves at him.
This book just got better and better...I couldn't put it down and now I am on the hunt for more books by this author! I am ashamed to say this was my first book by her and I am not sure how I have been missing her books!

Was will das Leserherz denn eigentlich mehr?!

The book’s gorgeous cover and title first caught my eye but when I read the synopsis I knew this was a story that would be just that little bit different.

Yes, this story is about an uber wealthy businessman but having felt slightly jaded with the genre to date, I found this storyline pleasantly refreshing. It helped that the author knows how to write extremely well and to tell a good story. I read the reviews, well the ratings, for the German version of the book, which was released prior to the English version, and the story was definitely a hit in Germany so I felt confident in giving this book a read and quickly moved it to the front of my TBR list.

The story centres around two main characters: Jayden King (aka the businessman) and Abigail Davis, Jayden’s soon-to-be employee. Despite Jayden making a less than spectacular impression on Abigail, when meeting her on her way to a job interview with him, he sees something in this determined young woman that intrigues him and despite initially sending her running in the opposite direction, he sets about getting her to accept him and his proposal. When attempts to reschedule her interview with him fail, Jayden resorts to other tactics to entice her to meet with him. With Abigail’s feisty personality, Jayden finds her reluctance to bow down to him refreshing and he finds the challenge that she throws in his direction more enamouring than irritating.

Abigail is the character with the condition to which the book’s title refers. Living with painful memories connected to her condition, she finds it hard to trust but with her sister gently nudging her along she starts to open up to Jayden and after accepting his job offer, develops an easy working relationship with him, despite his flirtatious personality. Jayden is also not without his fair share of pain but together they learn to trust and to appreciate that their past lives should not hold them back from a happy future.

There is a twist or two in this story and a couple of unexpected events for Abigail all of which add drama to what is essentially a nice romance story. I would definitely recommend this book to others as I feel that more readers should really appreciate the penmanship and storytelling abilities of this little-known author.

For now, I’d like to hope that a story about Jayden’s sister will follow especially as she is an interesting female powerhouse of a character in a male-dominated business world.

Sexsomnia - Sleepless in Manhattan is my first book to author Anya Omahand to the sexsomia disorder. Never ever heard of it before.

As much as this disorder was for me hard to digest, Ms. Anya came up with a beautifully well-written story and two amazing characters that made the book more enjoyable than expected.

Three years ago, Abigail's best friend and roommate used her sexsomnia sleeping disorder betraying her trust and leaving her nearly destroyed and unable to form any kind of relationships with men.

Now that Abby was ready to get back to the professional field and use her degrees to secure a PA position to the notorious Jayden King, she wasn't prepared to the tsunami of emotions he stirred in her every time he walked into the office.

description

Three years ago when Abigail Davis was betrayed by her best friend Jake, Jayden King was betrayed by fate.

Drowning his sorrows in alcohol and sex after losing Madison was getting old and boring. But after the new interviewee chewed his ass, Jay knew that he not only wanted her for the PA position as there were different enjoyable positions where she would rather best be. Especially on his desk...

“You want to know what I want, Abigail?”
“Yes,”...
“And you really think you can handle the answer?” Suddenly I’m not sure anymore, but I nod anyway, and take two steps back automatically.
“I want you on my desk, Abigail.” My eyes widen. “I want to fuck you until you come for me, until you explode underneath me. Again and again . I want that every fucking time you walk into this room.”

Jayden was a man who never backs from a challenge or take no as an answer, he wanted Abby and he was sure she wanted him as much all he had to do was convince her to guve them a chance but when he learned that she was conducting a study where she would have to sleep with a stranger, Jay was in no way going to sit and see a stranger share her with him. Not with the things he started to feel for her..

“I'll be damned if I’m going to let Abigail do that study with anyone besides me. I don’t care if it costs me a million dollars. Money’s no object, as long as I’m the one touching her, kissing her...”

I so much enjoyed Sexsomnia and I'm looking forward to reading more books of Anya Omah because reading this book was really a good experience.

Sexsomnia: Sleepless in Manhattan

I Picked Up This Book Because: The blurb, I guess. Can’t actually remember why I requested it.

The Characters:

Abigail Davis:
Jayden King:
Jessica King, Alice Davis best sisters in the world (excluding my own)

The Story:

This book frustrated me so much… no, I take it back Jayen King frustrated me. He at times seemed like a spoiled brat who just lashed out when things didn’t go his way. However, I suppose he was as he states often that he is used to getting his way. I do wonder if he was raised that way though. His family information, outside of his sisters, is lacking.

Abby was a good character. I’m still wondering if her disorder is real but I’m not going to google it. She was quite brave and strong. I her background was also lacking but I suppose the author didn’t think it impacted the story much.

Overall this story was just interesting enough to keep my holding on. I love a love story and I could feel the chemistry between Jayden and Abby. Their sisters, Jess and Alice, made me smile. Jess was definitely needed to keep Jayden in line and Alice’s unwavering support of Abby touched my heart.

The Random Thoughts:

It’s hard to read an erotic book where the main character has the same name as you 14 year old nephew. I had to mentally change his name to Jason or just he for most of the book.

The Score Card:

TL;DR: SOME SPICE BUT A SMIDGE TOO SKEEZY

***

THE STORY:
Consent is sexy.

It's really not possible for non-consensual acts in a romance novel to ever be okay, at least in my eyes. In modern romance novels, the rapist doesn't get the girl. (As he shouldn't.) While rape isn't particularly the problem between the hero and heroine in this book, the lines blurs where informed and enthusiastic consent can be given. And that part of it turned me completely off of this story and I just can't redeem it.

The description of the book was entirely misleading. I assumed that the reason that Abigail withdrew her application from the administrative assistant position was due to the sexsomnia, but instead the plot is completely focused on how Abigail just thinks that Jayden is a huge jerk. Which, he is. He only becomes less of a jerk when he is jealous of her being within 50 feet of any other man and decides he has to commit to her in order to chill out his caveman self.

The entire book, Jayden treats Abigail like property. In his eyes, she's only a hot piece that he wants to sexually harass in the office, despite her repeated insistence that she doesn't want to mix business and pleasure. He ignores her because she acts aroused around him. She continually tells him no, but because she kisses him back, he decides that she actually means yes. Then, the worst part: he uses his money and connections in order to be her anonymous partner in a sleep study. He pretends that he doesn't know anything about her condition, and then he tries to justify his shitty behavior when he's found out.

Abigail is rightly devastated, since after some trauma three years before, she has a difficult time trusting men, and he continually ignores her "no" and violates her trust in severely abominable ways. But because he apologizes (and it's one of those abuser-esque 'If I didn't love you so much I wouldn't have had to lie to you' non-apologies) and drops the L word on her, she forgives him. Oh and also her sister Alice pushes her into forgiving him because she thinks she'd be dumb to give up on a rich, hot man just because of a "mistake".

Ya'll. That was more than a mistake. That was a blatant violation of her person, and I just couldn't get behind the two of them being together. Jayden never feels like he shouldn't have treated her like chattel. He mostly feels bad that he got caught.

TECHNICAL ELEMENTS:
The writing itself was okay, but since it's a translation from the original German, I'm not sure how to correctly evaluate it. It was mostly fine, but there was a lot of phrasing with exclamation points, enough so that it was distracting. I don't know how much of it was translated directly or how much was adjusted for the English language. The many, many exclamation points isn't something we usually see in contemporary romance.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
I had high hopes for this book because it sounded interesting, but the rapey qualities of the hero turned me off. I don't know if I'll read anything else by this author.

Have you heard of Sexsomnia? I haven't before this book but man it is a fascinating disorder. I am super in psychology so when I saw this unique title I was beyond curious. For those who don't know and haven't looked it up yet, Sexsomnia is a sleeping disorder where a person will engage in sexual activities while asleep. Seriously, this is a real thing and not just made up for the sake of something to write about.

Abigail has sexsomnia and like most disorders, it has greatly changed her life, especially her relationship with men. Because of a traumatic experience, Abigail can't trust herself while asleep. She hasn't had a real relationship in years and is working through a lot and certainly doesn't expect to fall for the rich and oh so arrogant, Jayden King. Jayden is probably one of the most arrogant and self-confident men I have ever read and I totally love him! Don't get me wrong, he was hard to handle at the beginning but seeing how much he cares about Abigail and his sister speaks a lot about his true character.

Abigail and Jayden are both working on opening up to someone. Learning to trust another person to share their past traumas and pains. This book was able to be sexy and endearing at the same time. I really love these characters and see them grow. Both of the main characters have sisters, Alice and Jess who needs their own books because they are just awesome! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I hope to read more from Anya Omah in the future.

I received this ARC via Netgalley.

**I received a copy of Sexsomnia from Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**

Sexsomnia by Anya Omah is the first book that I've read by this author and I have to say that it was interesting as this is a real condition. I'd give it a solid 4 stars I really loved the heroine but the hero, I wish he had been more honest. But in the end he redeemed himself when it came time to serve a big healing amount of justice and whoop a*_* and fix what the court system would not for Abby.

Abigail Davis seems to always run late whenever she goes somewhere but when things go bad before her interview and she arrives in non professional clothes a bit late. But when she meets the owner of the company and they verbally spar little does she know that Jayden King is very interested in her and not just as his personal assistant. When she tells him of her secret and that she's going to take part in a study, Jayden does everything to be the person next to her in the testing labs. Abby proves to be the best assistant he's ever know and the woman that Jay can't live without.

Jayden King is a very successful businessman and just one meeting with Abigail will change his mind forever giving him a fantastic personal assistant and future soul mate. But when he finds out that she has sexsomnia he decides to do what it takes to help her even but she can never find out that he's her sleep study partner. There will be some ups and downs but in the end Jayden and Abigail must decide if what they feel for each other is a everlasting love.

4.5 stars - First, I need to just say, "Wow!" I didn't even know sexsomnia was a real thing. The fact that Ms. Omah can craft a wonderful romance and shed light on a little known and even less understood disorder makes this a particularly special read. The story is written so well and the characters are so comparably suited to one another. I really enjoyed this read.

I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Man bekommt immer kleine Stücke davon enthüllt.

Wow! I got this book off NetGalley because the cover and the title drew me, and then I thought the blurb sounded great. I've gotta say that this author was a great find!

“I often have people figured out after one sentence. Especially women – I can read them like open books. Abigail Davis, on the other hand, is a mystery to me. Totally different.”

Abigail Davis needs a job. On the morning of the interview for a very plum job, a series of mishaps has her turning up flustered and inappropriately dressed. When she encounters her prospective future boss in the lift, a few choice words between them has her storming off, determined not to bother with the job after all. She couldn’t work for such an insufferable jackass, even if he is sex on legs.

“You’re unpredictable, confident…” I continue, and then suddenly I realize that, more than anything, she’s a woman I could fall in love with.”

Jayden King is pretty jaded. He drowns the guilt and pain he carries around with alcohol, sex, work, and workouts. He barely sleeps. No one and nothing really distracts him from the endless treadmill he’s on. However, he is used to getting what he wants and Abigail Davis is what he wants – in his office and in his bed. He finds her sassiness and irreverent attitude towards him a breath of fresh air. She intrigues him, amuses him, frustrates him, and turns him the hell on. She affects him enough that he’s just about willing to do anything to have her.

Abigail suffers with a sleeping disorder – one that has affected her wellbeing and her love life. She’s taking drastic measures to understand her condition and appease her troubled mind. When Jayden has her vetted, he turns up this surprising and unusual fact about her, which leads him to make a somewhat unethical decision that could cost him their budding relationship.

This was a FAB read! There was fantastic, hot chemistry between Jayden and Abby. They were strong characters with clear personalities. I loved how Abby kept Jayden on his toes with her strong will and her unpredictability. It was wonderful to watch him captivated by her, and how she made him feel alive, rather than just existing.

The subject matter was interesting. I’ve never heard of it and just thought that the book title was a clever title. LOL. The plot was great and I really enjoyed how the author incorporated Abby’s condition into it.

I found this book pretty compelling and really sexy, with excellent dialogue between the two main characters. It was just my cup of tea!

It's been awhile since I read a book like this. It had a fifty shades feel to it. There were some differences like.... Abbigail was not quite or shy around Jayden. But... Abbigail did the whole lip biting thing just like Ana did. And Jayden mentioned about Abbigail eating (totally Christian). He felt she wasn't doing enough of it.
There were other little things but those 2 things really stood out to me.

Jayden was so possessive over Abigail like Christian was with Ana. Very commanding.
I was feeling this book. I like the way Abbigail wasn't falling at Jayden's feet. She wasn't so awestruck when she saw him.. She really put up a fight.
But, once I got to the club scene. That's where things started to go a little south for me. The whole "knockout drops" thing. I wasn't felling it. I was a little disappointed by it. I felt like that storyline has been played out so many times.

Then we have the whole sexsomnia. I really wish we had gotten Abbigail's story about the incident early on. I just felt it was being dragged out as I was reading. I think I needed it to understand what Abbigail was going through. She put up such a fight about touching and not having sex. But once she meets Jayden. She pretty much let's it all go with some verbal sparring with Jayden (that's their thing).
I don't know.... It just stuck out to me about the whole touching/sex thing.. I thought she would be more hesitant then she was about it.

Jess (Jayden's sister).... I really wasn't feeling her. I felt she was too nosy and just in everyone's business. Man... she really got on my nerves. She didn't know when to just quit and let things go. She kept going and going. It really got to me.
Another thing in this book got to me too.
I hated how everyone was always using Jayden & Abbigail's whole name. It was always Jayden king this and Jayden king that. Always Abigail Davis. Throughout the whole book. Why?

Overall this was ok read for me. I was hoping for a little something different. I thought the whole sexsomnia would be it. But I think for me it fell a little short.

Sexsomnia: Sleepless In Manhattan by Anya Omah
“A quick romance, 5 stars”

Sexsomnia is a quick romance read. Not only do you read about two people who fall hard and fast but you also get a dose of education all in one. Sexsomnia is a condition where one engages in sexual activities while asleep. Our heroine Abigail suffers from the condition. Can you imagine having such a condition? Would you be able to trust the person you share a bed with not to take advantage of you when your asleep? I know I could trust my husband, but before him? That would be a scary thing.
Abigail trusted someone once, and got severely burned in the process. Leaving her unforgiving and untrusting. Now she’s in the process of seeing how deep her condition is and attending therapy. At the same time, Abigail finally joining the work force after college and getting on her feet. It’s a whole lot of change in a little amount of time. To push matters, she finds herself immediately attracted to her new boss Jayden.
Jayden what’s to know everything about the little spitfire who isn’t afraid to dish it right back at him. When he learns of her condition? He wants to do everything he can to help the girl out, even if that means volunteering to be her lab partner. What he doesn’t expect is to fall for the girl. Secrets will come out on both sides and lines will be drawn. Will they end up on the same side together or will long standing trust issues for both keep them separate. Here are a couple pieces from the story that I liked;
“Charming vs. dark. Sexy laugh lines vs. deep, intense gaze. Tough call, very tough call. That’s like choosing between hot chocolate with marshmallows and my favorite burger.”
““Cold,” she mumbles. “This is assault. You sadist.”
“But the idea of sharing you, the thought of other men touching you, kissing you… of some guy getting as close to you as I had… was just intolerable.”
Plot- 5/5
Characters- 5/5
Heat- 5/5
Writing style- 5/5
Overall- 5/5

*I received this book free from the author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Abigail is one outspoken woman, but to her credit she does it justly most of the time. She is someone who would rather go without the perfect dream job rather than put up with a boss she couldn't stand to be around. But when he gives her a proposition that puts all the cards in her hand even she can't walk away from that....at least not for too long.

"Oh, come on. I Googled him a minute ago. You can't tell me you don't think he's hot. Even my cell phone was overheating."

Jayden is used to getting everything he wants, including women, but after a while it was something he grew tired of and instead of partying all the time he threw himself into his work. Abigail is the only woman, besides his sister (whom I absolutely love), that will stand up to him and speak her mind, which is exactly why he is so infatuated with her.

"Any way I can help with this fantasy you're having?"

Although Abigail and Jayden start falling for each other they both still have their secrets. She has sexsomnia and is hiding the fact that she's doing a study to try and figure out what exactly she does in her sleep. And he knows about it, but doesn't tell her...not even after she tells him everything about it. Nothing good comes from secrets.

Sexsomnia is one of those books with a little bit of everything. It has humor, sex, intrigue, a tangled web of lies, and love and passion. I absolutely loved it.

My favorite part is this conversation he has toward the beginning of the book with his sister about hiring Abigail. I absolutely love his sister. She had me completely cracking up.

Oh. My. God! What a book!

Most definitely unputdownable. I pretty much devoured this book, I loved it that much.

Reading the title, I was a little dubious. I mean I don't think I'd ever heard the word Sexsomnia before, however the blurb sold it.

Abby is a sexsomniac, meaning she carries out sexual acts on herself whilst she is asleep. It's a subconscious thing that she isn't even aware that she does. After a devastating incident occurs resulting in her being unable to trust men, she decides to do a sleep study to see if she initiates things in her sleep. She needs answers to the incident that occurred so that she can move on. She applies for a job as a PA unknowingly changing her life in the process.

When a feisty female, walks into his elevator and tells him off and to stick his job, Jayden really doesn't know how to deal. On the one hand he's left indignant, I mean how dare anybody talk to him like that. On the other hand, no one has ever spoken to him like that and he finds it kind of turns him on and is refreshing all at the same time.

After a little coaxing in which Abby agrees to work for him, they find that the issues going on and secrets they’re keeping are really testing them. After realising that feelings are building, how can a relationship built on secrets work?

I read lots of contemporary romances, that and paranormal romance are my favourite, but I can honestly say I’ve never read anything with this sort of storyline. It was very interesting to read about. There were things I’d never even heard of. I can’t really give away anything without spoiling the plot and everyone knows I don’t like spoilers.

I’m looking forward to reading more by this author. Her way of writing is real and authentic and very engaging.
