Aes Sidhe

Rate this book
My name is Sive. I am a throwback. I was born in the northlands. My people expect me to sit in silence but I do not belong to them. I belong to others, I’m descended from the Aes Sidhe. The forgotten race will come knocking and I will answer, for they are kindred. Shhh… listen. The Aes Sidhe are near… the ghost blade is calling for blood, revenge is close. I am here, I am alive, I am spirit. I will release the legend… I will defeat the Banishment and breathe life back into the Erthe.

Aes Sidhe (Erthe #6) by Fergal F. Nally is a book I won from Kindle Scout and it is pretty good. It has good fantasy, good characters, a fae type feel, and a Arthur and the Stone type feel too. Although that should put me off that it is not 'original', it works and I liked it. It was different enough to enjoy. The story flowed well and I didn't feel I was missing anything even with this been book 6 and I had not read any of the others.

Intriguing storytelling.
Dark legend and renewal tale told through multiple character point of view. Quick pace with fully fleshed characters, but sparseness in many background details.

Did not realize when I read this it was a 6th in a series. It was very readable regardless. I enjoyed the fantasy around the the old ones of the Scottish highlands and the quest this young woman and the returned hero encounter. I may have understood more of the history and community of these characters and their story if I'd read the earlier books, but enjoyed reading this as if it were a one off.

Enjoyed this story. Mix of Celtic, Norse, Orcadian & Arthurian legend, intriguing. Runs hot & pace fast.

This is a unique rendition of the legend of King Arthur that is recognizable mainly through mentions of Scalibur (the sword), Ae'fir (Authur), and Myrddin (Merlin). There are most likely other references, but those are the ones easiest to see. The main plot is the freeing of the Aes Sidhe from their thousand year imprisonment. In order to achieve that goal, a lot happens in this story, told from many points of view, and you need to read it carefully to keep track. Since there is so much happening, much of it zips along at a fast pace. I would have liked more depth throughout, and had things explained a little more. It felt like the story was jumping from one event to the next, with only brief mentions of some things. They do all meld together in the end, however.

I received a copy of this book through the Kindle Scout program.

Adventure of the AES Sidhe

A classic tale set in ages past from myth and legend. Will right overcome might? It’s a little too long, but well worth the time spent.
