Stand out Volume..
And we haven't even got to the final battle yet..
Basically the Sister v Sister theme that has been running through the series is finally brought to climax and resolved in a satisfying way.
Pacing is great...and lots of side issues.. particularly Tetsumi's 'condition' is layed out in preparation for the final two volumes.

I'm kind of frustrated with the ending.
I don't like the message of Wave disregarding what Kurome says because he doesn't believe it to be right. Even if he disagrees, she has the right to make her own decisions, and I'm not sure I like the conclusion that he was right to force her and go against her will.
Also, it is so frustrating that Wave's contradictions are never pointed out, because what do you mean the man wants to change the kingdom from inside but kills the rebels? Who does he want to change the kingdom for if he kills the people???

However, I loved that we got to know and understand Kurome better, her character is a great representation of what brainwashing and mental conditioning can do to someone. She deserves to be happy and live for herself, and, at least for that, I'm grateful for Wave.
Also, that line she says to Akame... MY HEART. I cry every time I read that

Each volume just gets better & better! I really loved this volume, & wowowowow the manga is way more different than the anime!
In this volume, pretty much all loose ends were tied up, leading to the final battle. I really loved that kurome & wave end up together; their whole relationship throughout the manga was super cute!! I am glad he was able to risk everything, just to stop the battle between the two sisters. I really hated that kurome dies in the anime, so it makes me happy to see her survive here.
On a side note, i really like how tatsumi looks in his “dragon” form. Im so excited for the last 2 volumes & the final battle!

I would have rated this volume at 4 stars had it not been for the last chapter. It was so good, and wildly different from the anime. I'm still waiting to see how the series ends with just two volumes left to read, but up to this point I think I'm enjoying the manga more than the anime.

Probably my favourite volume so far. Loved all the character development, Kurome’s story, Akame getting to share her thoughts with others (even if they are technically her enemies) and Tatsumi’s fight against Wave -I wish it had lasted longer though. Kurome and Akame’s battle was also really intense. There was a great plot twist and the author managed to keep the tension going until the very end, which is always a plus. However, I am not so sure how I feel about Wave and Kurome. The whole thing was beautiful and deeply moving, but it also happened all of a sudden, which I understand is part of the plot twist itself but also makes the reader question how true Wave’s feelings can possibly be. On the other hand, he kind of forced Kurome into her new situation, and although that is going to be extremely helpful for her, it also was not her will at all, so I have mixed feelings about that.

An absolutely brilliant and exciting volume overall. 5 stars!

Mi tomo favorito hasta la fecha. Me ha encantado la evolución de los personajes y ha sido maravilloso poder conocer la historia de Kurome, así como ver a Akame compartir sus inquietudes con otros (aunque sean sus enemigos), y ya ni hablemos de la emoción que crea la batalla de Tatsumi contra Wave, que ha sido bastante corta para lo que me gustaría. En cuanto a la de Akame contra Kurome, lo ha tenido todo: muchísima tensión desde el principio hasta el final (tres hurras por el autor) y un gran giro argumental. Sin embargo, no sé cómo sentirme con respecto a Wave y Kurome: sí, ha sido preciso, pero es innegable que todo ha sucedido con demasiada rapidez y, aunque eso es lo que caracteriza a un giro en la historia, también suscita dudas sobre la veracidad de los sentimientos de Wave. Por otro lado, también está el hecho de que él ha obligado a Kurome a seguir su nuevo camino; y sí: era lo que más le convenía a la chica, pero seguía sin ser lo que ella quería, así que ¿hasta qué punto es legítimo?

Cinco estrellas muy merecidas.

This is quite the chunky volume, in fact I think it's the chunkiest one yet! It's for good reason too as this volume seems to be focusing on wrapping a couple of plot threads up before we head on in to the final battle. It's kind of like a pregame warmup!

Tatsumi isn't looking so good at the start of the volume, and we're off the beaten path when it comes to what we know from the anime. Akame herself is off with a kill list to work her way through that ends in a confrontation with Wave. Wave himself is dealing with the fact that he's caught feelings and will do anything to prevent the face off between Akame and Kurome that finally comes about in this volume.

There's plenty of action and the usual epic battle scenes with plenty of blood and gore. It was inevitable with this series, that things would be bloody, especially considering the big confrontation we're heading towards with Akame and Kurome. Who are more than a little bloodthirsty as we know!

The tension is high, and we speed through the volume towards an equally speedy battle, the pace is brilliant for such a chunky volume! It was nice to have the volume end on an oddly heartwarming note though, considering things are going to get bloody and heartbreaking next volume when the final battle commences. This volume is like a nice little chance to breath before the inevitable blood and destruction of the next volume, relish it while you can!

In the beginning of the book it shows how badly Tatsumi's body is holding up against the effects of his teigu. I really like that it shows how badly Tatsumi's condition worsens more and more after each use of his teigu and also just from him doing normal life activities. Later on it shows that wave and akame run into each other and battle each other until wave tells akame that she should resolve the problems with her sister. Not that much later Akame runs into one of her old friends named Kairi and his soldiers, she fights them all alone and ends up killing them all off and kills Kairi.

Leone goes to find Kurome and hold her off so she cant support Kairi in battle which later on in the battle leone lets her escape so she can meet akame one more time. The book gets even better as the main theme of Akame vs her younger sister, Kurome is brought to a climax as they finally meet each other and fight. They end the fight and resolve the conflict ending up with Akame and her sister saying bye to each other so they can each go their own ways. Wave and Kurome also tell night raid how they will leave the empire to live peaceful lives away from war and be away from the corrupt system in the capital. Wave also confesses his feelings towards Kurome and they leave happily together.

Very different from the episode
In many ways it's a very cute chapter of the story however I do think that Wave basically decides Kurome's future for her and I know she's in a vulnerable spot but the episode, I personally think, is more accurate to the desire of the sisters. Having the whole of Akame's story directed this upcoming battle between her and her sister and then for it it end like that. It is very sweet like I said I just know how it could have been.
I'm conflicted but I'm also excited to see the implications of this decision

Ok, I will take that maybe I don't fully grasp the extent to which brainwashing plays with your emotions....but I really feel like Kurome's character arc was just sh*t upon. Other than that...I was happy with how this panned out with a surprising lack of major character death in this volume. 2.5 rounded down because f*ck Wave's over-masculine protection arc.

The anime really lost of lot with the content that was not shown. As things ramp up to a finale, the focus shifts to Kurome, Wave, Akame, and Tatsumi. The relationship between the sisters was expanded on and built upon. And from the dialogue, there's a lot of foreshadowing about what's probably going to happen to Tatsumi.

Seeing the toll that Incursio is having on Tatsumi is eye opening and sorta scary. Interested to see how the final fight is going to go down.

Kurome and Akame's fight was crazy. I didn't expect Wave to come in and convince Kurome to be taken away. Also breaking Yatsufusa was crazy. Professing his love as well and telling Akame he'll take care of her? What a nice way for that to end.

For all the talk of "the final battle" this issue did you would hope the endgame came sooner than later. Falls into a few cliche anime tropes in this one. I can't read "the power of love/friendship" without a massively cynical eyeroll.

Wave and Kurome's relationship makes me uncomfy. I get the impression that she's a young teen (13-15) and he's a young adult (18-22). The age gap isn't so much a problem for me as the adult and child relationship is.

Quick thoughts: Really great payoff to some long running plotlines. As the end nears the layered storytelling (not to mention the tighter focus with the dwindling cast) is really paying off.

Pretty intense volume. Everything is coming to a head and people are dropping like flies. The ending though was so so good. I couldn't of seen a better outcome for Wave and Kurome than that.

This book was mostly just fighting. It’s the battle before the final fight. We finally get to see Akame and Kurome’s big show down. The outcome was unexpected but I liked it better then any other option.

Overall Rating: 8/10 - Very good and well paced story, a bit original. Characters are detailed with their flaws. Their backgrounds and how they became are straight to the point and not overbearing. The psyche of numerous characters are very well displayed. Nothing dragging about this series, and the conclusion was damn near perfect. I recommend this series, although it is already popular with a tv show...
