Beautiful and brilliant businesswoman Olivia had been widowed a year earlier - and ever since, she’s thrown herself into mending everybody’s broken heart except her own.
However, on a lonely, sun-drenched vacation to Tahiti, that changes. After delivering a cold beer to a handsome stranger, Olivia finds herself confronted not just by feelings she’d thought had died along with her husband; but also the overwhelming temptation to act on them.
For wealthy, aristocratic Dante, love had similarly been the last thing he’d been looking for at this remote resort - at least until the tanned beauty in the red bikini had showed up to offer him a beer. Olivia is bold, blatant, and a world away from the fawning women he’d grown so tired of as a prince of Madiera. The chemistry between them is undeniable.
But Olivia and Dante come from two very different worlds - her from small-town Oklahoma, and Dante from a glittering European kingdom. They’ll have just a week together before duty and destiny separate them once again. Having gone through so much already, are either willing to gamble on something that might never be?
Then again - can either of them walk away from what might be their only chance of happiness?
A Summer of Second Chances is the first installment of the Harris Legacy series - richly emotional, beautifully written, and true-to-life tales of love triumphant despite overwhelming odds.
I must confess that romance is not my favorite genre, but my friend advised me to read this book. And I am more than grateful to her for this advice. The story of Olivia and Dante is not just another banal sweet love story that always ends with a predictable happy ending. It is much more. I enjoyed every page, because this is a life-affirming novel that everything is possible, that love always gives us a second chance and we can use it. I will gladly reread Olivia: A Summer of Second Chances and will wait for the new books by Jasper Trey.
Olivia: A summer of second chances is an urban romance which story follows Olivia who has given up on love due to a tragedy in her life, and Dante, a charming charismatic man from another country than her own. They met while they both were on vacation and they both had reasons not to want to be involved in a relationship.
With no big surprise, they got closer to each other and the 'story' starts from there.
I've read so many positive reviews so when this book has been sent to me in exchange of my honest review, I was excited to get started and ended up being such a disappointment.
There were way too many spelling mistakes and sentences structured funnily to turn the blind eye. While I understand it's not easy to write a book, it should be even more difficult to publish one, and when it's published traditionally I both blame the author and the publisher for the mediocre presentation. It made it painfully hard for me to keep reading and with at least one mistake by page, my frustration was at its peek by the end of the book.
The style was easy enough to read and not too simple to add up to the aggravation. Most of the descriptions were vivid and well presented, so well it was the one positive aspect. There were some parts / sections that could have been avoided as it only added to the word count.
The characters were too predictable as well as the plot. It was monotonous with no plot twists at all. Well if the one big secret was a plot twist than maybe guessing what that secret was a lot earlier than it had been revealed might have spoilt it for me.
I am aware of a sequel and although I'm an incredibly curious person, the only way for me to read book 2 is for it to be free and even then, it would probably not get my immediate attention.
I don't mean to be harsh, I just couldn't wait to finish reading the book that had no development. The only work of research that was reflected throughout the writing was about the places and the history of some things. (I'm trying to keep the review spoiler free)
All in all, it wasn't a meaningful read. Even the romance wasn't exceptional in my opinion.
When Olivia and Dante meet whilst on vacation, the chemistry between the two strangers is instant. It has not been an easy year for Olivia but the tall, dark handsome stranger makes the widowed, thirty-something, mother of two, feel alive again: "She was used to seeing sadness in her eyes and dark circles under them. She looked happy, she looked alive, something she had thought wouldn't happen for a long time if ever again." Though both claim not to have been looking for a relationship during their vacation, things escalate pretty quickly from the bar, to the first date, to the bedroom. Dante scores a lot of points in the dreamboat department. The dialogue and the banter between the two is convincing and well-paced. The sex scenes are not over the top and descriptive enough to sufficiently fog up your reading glasses. But all good things must come to an end as vacations do. The two lovers try their best to maintain the connection via text & video chat, but this only makes the yearnings stronger, so what becomes to this seemingly star-crossed connection? By this point readers should care enough to keep turning the pages. The character's back stories have enough depth to make readers care about them. If you are an avid reader of romance novels, after you dip your toes in this story you'll undoubtedly want to take the full plunge. It certainly ticks a lot of boxes in that genre. Romance novels certainly make us all feel that the passion within their pages is waiting for us in the real world, and could be just around the corner, although the only thing I picked up on my last vacation was a rather severe dose of influenza.
I borrowed Olivia: A summer of second chances ~ The Harris Legacy ~ Book 1 from the Kindle Unlimited Program.
Dante and Olivia are both on vacation alone on a tropical island and neither is looking for romance. Dante is coming to terms with his forced retirement from the military and to accept his new role in his royal family. Olivia's husband died a year ago when his car was hit by a drunk driver and she is looking for a quiet time to reflect on her life and her role as a single mother of two daughters.
Sparks and interest is immediate for both Dante and Olivia and what starts as a vacation no strings attached romance soon turns serious for both of them. Olivia went home to her ranch in Oklahoma and her family and children while Dante returned to the life of being Prince Dante of Madeira.
Olivia and Dante keep in touch with text, phone calls and facetime on the Internet until Dante comes to the Dallas on family business and they reunite. A difficult time for both of them as they realize they love each other but live on opposite sides of the world and with very different lifestyles. The emotional upheaval to Olivia and her daughters is her first consideration and a giant problem to face for a couple in love. The rest of the story is full of conflict, emotions and compromises and is worth reading if you like romance.
Olivia: A Summer if Second Chances (The Harris Legacy Book 1) by Jasper Trey is a perfect mix of romance, sex and storyline. There were times it kind of slowed down for me but for the most part the story flowed smoothly and kept me interested and turning pages. The story follows Olivia and Dante, each on their own journey to figure out who they are at this stage in their life. They meet in Tahiti while they were both searching for themselves, but they ended up finding each other. They were both from two very different lives but they figured out how to make their love work. The characters are very personable and very well written. Jasper Trey has a knack for creating passionate characters that spring to life in the pages, while still creating a deep and loving romantic storyline. I am looking forward to reading the rest of The Harris Legacy series!
I received an ARC for this book. Olivia has been a widow with two young daughters for over a year. She meets Dante who is taking a vacation after retiring from the military. They have a wonderful relationship for the week and then it is time for Olivia to return to Oklahoma and for Dante to return to his Island near Spain. They share phone calls and SKYPE when they can. He tells her that he will be in Dallas for a charity event and asks her to meet him. She agrees. She also tells him that she has researched his island and discovered that he is a member of the royal family. When they meet in Dallas, they profess their love for each other. Will they be able to work out the logistics of a long distance romance? Will one of them agree to leave their family and their home to be with the other? Will Olivia's daughters accept Dante as a step-father? I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to everyone.
You’re in for a sweet treat in Olivia: A Summer of Second Chances. Jasper Trey brings Olivia and Dante together as they take a vacation to the find a new direction in their lives. Somehow everyone at the resort decided they should meet. Slowly their future became one, but there were several obstacles that needed removing before they could find their happily ever after. With Olivia being a widow running a business, with children, and Dante being a prince of a small island, they have much to work out.
I found Olivia: A Summer of Second Chances a steamy romance. Jasper Trey creates realistic characters, with extraordinary lives. The reader will enjoy Olivia and her no non-sense personality. Then they will like how Dante uses his royal influence only to help his people. The author works this long distance out for the characters. I would recommend this to all lovers of romance.
I really respect the authors who write their books with love, putting their soul into them. Jasper Trey is one of them. I was so pleased to read her feelings about whether her book would please her readers, and I want to say that I was impressed by such a love story! When you read a story, it’s as if you are living the life of heroes. They are very realistic, the author, in my opinion, was a success in this technique. Such light and deep love stories make my everyday, gray days bright. I especially prefer stories that happen spontaneously, when both heroes don’t think about relationships, but fate and the case make these people meet each other. Everyone is worthy of love, and even after spiritual injuries in the past, a person is given a second chance for happiness, so why not take advantage of it. I recommend everyone to dive and enjoy the love story. I'm sure you will not regret
Lovely, sweet romance novel that will leave you warm inside. There are no real surprises here, it hits all the familiar marks, and something that is all you want. Olivia and Dante are very likable characters, maybe even too likable. They have all the virtues, they suffered and they are pretty much given up on searching for love. What happens? Of course you know what happens. Writing is very good, it is easy to read, romantic parts are lovely, and more hot and steamy parts deliver too. If you like a good, heartfelt romance, this is right up your alley, there is not much more to say about it. I like how the author didn’t go too much into soap opera direction and kept it fairly believable, from the plot and, mostly, characters, to the choices and obstacles they must face. Thumbs up for this book, good job.
This is the story of two people who have immediate chemistry while meeting on vacation.
Olivia is a widow looking for some downtime as she looks to end her self-imposed period of mourning. Dante is a prince of a small country who is looking to relax before switching from a military career to one in the "family business."
There is immediate chemistry between the two as they decide to spend the vacation together. Once they leave, they start a FaceTime / text romance that seems to grow. This book has a family angle with Olivia's young daughters, Dante's sister and family expectations, and Olivia's parents and in-laws.
The romance is solid and the dialogue is good. It's a modern day "prince meets commoner" story that is a nice read.
I received an ARC, yet discovered I had purchased it! This is my honest review
A summer of second chances is a good story of love, loss, acceptance, and moving forward. Olivia is trying to get over the loss of her husband by taking a trip for herself. She has spent the last year helping everyone else get over it and is now working on herself. Her vacation in Tahiti leads to a chance encounter with Dante, a former military man being forced to return to his royal lineage. The journey will submerge you in emotions and turmoil. The characters are well developed and the storyline is very addicting and draws you in and keeps you holding on for that next page. A must read for all the romance fans. This one is a keeper.
I couldn't put this story down and read straight into the early hours of the morning to finish it. Dante and Olivia were great characters and I loved them so much. The writing and pace were good, the storyline interesting and it had just the right touch of sadness, hope, happiness, love, some suprises and important decisions needing to be made. I liked the balance of seeing them together and seeing them apart and how they went about trying to be together forever. Not 5 stars for me as there were some questions I felt were unanswered or not answered enough for my liking. This is a new author for me and one I would be interesting in reading again....the glimpse of book two has me interested in reading it. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an ARC.
I love the rags to riches, cinderella style story. A widow, Olivia meets Dante. Oh so romantic and charming. In Tahiti on vacation to boot! Hot steamy romance leads to falling in love and eventually a fairytale life! Olivia didn't originally know Dante was royalty. She struggles with deciding to move forward into Dantes lifestyle because she already has a life in Oklahoma on a farm/ vineyard with her 2 daughters. Olivia is a hardworking person who isn't sure a life in the lap of luxury is right for her and her girls. I also love all the modern inclusions; video calls, pinterest, bulletproof coffee! It's refreshing!
I understand this is a series but this book definitely can be a stand alone! Great romantic read! I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

Worlds collide Olivia takes a break from her children and life after the death of her husband the previous year. She needed the break to heal herself after helping everyone else. Dante was also there to adjust to civilian life after being in the military for ten years. Little did they know that the staff at the resort would do some matchmaking. Both are delightful characters that you’ll find yourself wanting to get together. Great characters in this well written and very enjoyable story. I look forward to reading the other books in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Emotional – Enjoyable Read! A sweet emotional story about two individuals who have different lifestyles, but happen to come together and unknowingly get along. Olivia, a widow and Dante, who just left military service both are in Tahiti alone trying to get time for their own self to figure out what they want to do next. They both want to be left alone but are pushed by resort staff to introduce to each other. This is a story and characters are normal human beings with normal emotions. Its light hearted story to read.
I enjoyed the book and all the characters. It moved along smoothly and didn't rush the ending. Everything was explained. You could see where the H and h were working through their feelings and situations. The only grammatical errors that bothered me was when the word to was used and it should have been too. I noticed this happens a lot in different situations. There were a few other miss used words but this is the one that always stands out for me. I did enjoy the book and will read more from this author. I recommend this book.
The most perfect of summer reads. Olivia is a well-developed character. She's a strong, capable woman who doesn't need to be rescued - she needs to be loved. The book is written in such a way that everything is very easy to visualize. Perfect escapism, capturing the need we all feel to get away from it all and find a HEA. If only we could all find a prince when we do!
Definitely wasn't what I was expecting, but it was so worth reading.
What started out as a friendly introduction between two single adults on vacation, turns into a beautiful love story. Both sides comes from different ends of society, yet they find a way to make the most of their beautiful meeting and turn it into a very happy ending.
I really loved this story. I like that the obstacles Olivia and Dante faced were somewhat real but handled beautifully. You could feel their love and the love of all their families.
This is the first time reading anything by this author. He has a knack of sparking vivid mental images through his use of language, this is definitely a book series for a person who enjoys romance..Very nice character development and storyline and I'm pretty sure it's going to become a best seller.
This book was great! I enjoy the diversity among the cultures, the romance that wasn't over the top and more so, the story line was flowing and educational as well. Couldn't put it down!
A well-written story it just lacks a certain something as I felt it drag on and sort of bland. I'm voluntarily reviewing this after receiving from Hidden Arcs.
I received a free copy of this novel via Hidden Gems in exchange for an honest review. My opinion is my own.
This is the first book in the Harris Legacy and I must say that I really enjoyed it. If your looking for a deep novel this isn't it but it was definitely a fun afternoon read. The characters were quirky and realistic. The plot was hot, entertaining and kept me coming back for more. I look forward to the next book in this series.
He's just a prince. Olivia was on a much needed beach vacation to find herself again, after losing her husband. So she decided to take a chance on Dante by offering him a beer. When Dante sees Olivia's curvy body he is lost, but he doesn't want to tell her just yet that he is a prince. I love how this story held me from start to finish. I like love that it is not your typical love story. Can't wait to read more.
