Cloaked in the identity of David Xavier, a billionaire player in multiple world theaters, Mike White Cloud worked to enter the Russian Mafia’s lair, by stalking a shadowy creature named "The Concierge." The Russian woman brokered young innocents into slavery, and Mike meant to destroy her and the organization she worked for. He should have despised her for the atrocious crimes she facilitated, but too often love and hate are the flip sides of the same coin, and what Mike felt for Taty was not hate. It didn't matter. He'd destroy the Bravata and all its associates--even if it meant part of his soul sat in prison for the rest of her life.

Driven by heartbreak, Tatyana Petrov joined the elite British M16 unit, and for eight years, wormed her way into the trust of the Bravata as she strove to identify the human filth selling those innocents to billionaires like David Xavier. She'd found it easy to loathe the wealthy men who bought her "toys"--until David. For reasons that she wouldn't acknowledge, she wanted to protect this one man from the retribution rapidly approaching.

Neither knew the other's true mission but even as mortal adversaries, they'd each given the other a part of their soul, and now only devastation and sorrow waited.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I have no connection to Kris Michaels.

I always feel privileged when I receive an ARC copy. However, like any reader, there are authors I really look forward to reading. Kris Michaels is one of those authors. I always have high expectations from her book, and so far, she has never let me down. Once again, she delivered.

This is a great book. Chief is a man of action and few words. So, of course, when his family (Guardian) is threatened, he takes action. He goes undercover to take down the Bratva, not just for their moves against the Kings but their human trafficking operations. In true Guardian style, he does not just jump into this unprepared. Chief was not in the last book. He was spending his time preparing/training to establish his cover (in the story this has taken a year). He was prepared for everything except Tatyana, the Bratva's beautiful concierge in charge of their "deliveries." Both of them know the other is an enemy, but neither can deny the attraction between them. When they act on this, the lines between friend and foe are blurred.

The great thing about Kris Michaels' writing is that even her side characters are written with such depth that they can (and do) star in their own book. many of the threads of the other book come together. Such as the Kings saying they were going on the offensive, we see that here. The authenticity of the procedures makes this book exciting rather than slow. There are also a couple of setups for series further down the line. Like I said, she makes her side characters count. Who is a main character in one book will be a side on the next and vice versa. Another great addition to the series. The book can be enjoyed as a stand-alone, but I would recommend reading the whole series. I have not been disappointed with a single book so far.

This book was awesome!! Couldn't put it down.
I loved how Kris Michaels brought the Chief and Taty together. And as always she did not disappoint.
I've been waiting for Chief's book anxiously and it was everything I hoped it to be.

They almost didn't make it but Chief or David Xavier or Mike White Cloud and Tatyanna overcame some tough odds.

Breakout star: Mr Churchhill from MI6 I need him in another story
Throwback: Maliki Blue I want to know his story
Best scene
When Tori and Jewell got caught spying on Mike and Tatyanna at Justin's restaurant
When Jacob said Tatyanna was hot and Tori said Mike had a nice ass

Questions
How is Gabriel so Gabriel? Where does he get his jedi powers from? What's his back story?
His last name is Xavier -so in some alternate universe is he related to Charles Xavier??
They have similar attributes

Tension is oh so wonderfully high….

I am a huge fan of this series! Each story pulls together action, suspense, family and romance in its own unique roller coaster ride…

They are both undercover but, seemingly, on opposite sides. Chief and Taty are fighting for the underdog, for the enslaved, those people who have their voices – and their lives – taken away from them. What do you when your enemy is the one person you cannot resist?

The tension between these two characters is intense even as suspense and danger dog their every step. They have their own reasons for putting their lives on the line and have vowed to succeed regardless of the cost. And their lives are on the line. Each conversation, each decision could be their last. In the midst of it all, when their next breath could be their last, they somehow find each other. And connect in the most elemental way. They fit even though they shouldn’t.

This story is high-octane suspense ala James Bond with characters, old and new, that sizzle together through it all. I can’t wait for more!

Another great instalment from Kris Michaels!

Mike White Cloud aka Chief is about to embark on the mission of his life. Cloaked in the identity of David Xavier, a billionaire player in multiple world theatres. His sole mission is to infiltrate the Russian mafia and stalk "The Concierge" thus doing so and destroying her and the organisation she works for and finally putting a stop to the horrific crimes of human trafficking of young girls and boys.

Tatyana Petrov 'Taty' joined the elite MI6 and for the last 8 years has worked her way into the trust of the Bravata, striving to identify the human filth selling innocents to the rich as playthings.

He should have despised her for the atrocious crimes she has facilitated.

She should have been repulsed that he wanted to buy 'toys'.

But neither knew the others true mission. Each giving the other part of their soul. Now only heartache and devastation awaits.

I like that each instalment is equally as action packed as the last combining suspense, action and some 'steam' to make for an exhilarating read.

I would highly recommend. I'm looking forward to reading Jewell's story next!

Pawns in a nasty and bloody game

They are both undercover in a tangled web of betrayal, deceit and lies, both fighting to protect the innocent and unable to be honest with the other...but love doesn't wait for a convenient time...
The first time we see Chief have any sort of reaction to a woman and he is unable to act on it or even be himself. I love that he doesn't hesitate to do what he needs to do to keep the family safe, but I hate that he thinks he is expendable...so glad Gabriel does hesitate to put him right! He is the glue that holds Alpha Team and the family together, the one you don't see but you know is there, strong, silent and deadly, but he also has a huge heart and to see that shredded here is devastating.
The fireworks between Mike and Taty are undeniable, steaming hot and he thinks they are impossible to keep when he returns to 'real life'.

I have been really enjoying this series so far and I have been looking forward to Chief's story for quite a while now, so I couldn't wait to dive into his book!  For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Kings of Guardian series, here's a quick run down: Guardian is the biggest and best private security firm in the world, and it is run by various members of the King family for a mysterious recluse businessman. Well, his actual identity is revealed to the reader but he is an unknown to the world at large. In any case, the King children and their various former military team members have been focused on trying to bring down a Russian crime syndicate called the Bravata before they are taken out, and that brings us to Chief's book.

Mike White Cloud has no blood relations left, and the Kings have become his family instead. When he is given the opportunity to finally bring down the Bravata by going deep undercover to become recluse billionaire David Xavier, he willingly takes it on in the hopes that he can end the war against his family without anyone else getting hurt even if it costs him his own life in the process. For one year, he is immersed in becoming someone else and he has finally reached the point he has been working toward: contact with the Bravata under the guise of purchasing some of their human merchandise to start the dominoes falling toward eliminating them once and for all. He just doesn't plan on his Bravata contact sparking his interest in a way that no other woman has in well over 5 years.

Tatyana is much more than she appears on the surface. She conducts trade for the Russians, but she has a singular end game in mind: take them down and finally avenge her sister's death at their hands.  David Xavier is an enigma she must figure out before he derails her plans- or steals her heart. This man can go from a cold, calculating criminal in one minute to a generous benefactor of those in need in the next and then again to a sensual creative lover in the next moment. His intent to do business with the Bravata does not fit in with the rest of his personality at all and she desperately seeks out his motives in the hopes her gut is right so that she won't have to take him down in the end.

Taty has no idea that David/ Mike is undercover but she worms his way into his heart much to his consternation. He is certain that she is a coldhearted criminal that he will have to take down, and that weighs on both his conscience and his heart more and more each day. The angst level continually ramps up as he has no idea she is actually MI6 (as noted in the blurb) and they both struggle with their conscience and hearts fighting against the need to eliminate the evil and threat that is the Bravata.

Their love story was well written and kept me turning the pages as I waited to see how it all played out even as they pulled on my heartstrings a bit. I couldn't help but wonder: Mike became David and lived his life for the past year, so how will he readjust to his old life- if he makes it out alive? And when the heck would the truth about Taty come out?

There were certainly a few surprises along the way, and all in all I really enjoyed this story! Many familiar faces from previous stories were a part of this book as the Kings worked on taking down the Bravata from other angles as a distraction to allow Chief to deliver the knockout punch they never saw coming. Although Chief can be read as a standalone, I do recommend reading at least the first book in the series to understand the background of the family and Guardian before diving into this one. It looks like King sister Jewell's story is up next, and I can't wait to see what happens between the spitfire tech guru and her assigned Guardian bodyguard Zane!

Mike White Cloud, aka Chief, has been preparing to go deep into the Russian Mafia, as David Xavier, for some time, in order to take down "The Concierge", a Russian woman who takes care of brokering innocent girls into the human trafficking business, and he plans to take her and the organization down. However, he never saw Tatyana, coming, so nothing prepared him for the strong attraction he feels towards the enemy. Tatyana Petrov, aka "The Concierge" is part of the British M16 unit, and has spent the last eight years undercover, in order to reveal, and take out the whole evil organization that eals in selling women to billionaires like David Xavier. Never once, has she had any problem in hating the evil that buys the women as their toys, but David is different, and she can't get him out of her head. As neither knows the other's mission, they are enemies, but what happens when that line becomes blurry? Will they got out of it alive? My heart raced cover to cover as I devoured this high octane story that had me ready to kick serious butt! Kris Michaels' writing style is simply brilliant, as I was transported into her underworld from the get go, and was ready to bring the thunder upon those evil men whose trafficking came off very realistic. Yes, I knew the general storyline before starting, but still the diabolical twists, many of which came out of left field, had me screaming colorful metaphors, and many many loud f-bombs to boot. I loved these two together, and their emotions oozed out of my kindle, especially the frustration they felt at being enemies with an overpowering attraction. Anyway, I could go on and on, but I won't because first of all, I'll never do the story justice, and secondly, no spoiler douchery will come from me! Bottom line, just read it, because I can do nothing less that HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING Chief to everyone!

Super hard for me to rate this book. I just could not rate it higher due to subject matter and actions by the MC I found abhorrent.

I wanted to like Tati. Of course Chief i already knew and loved him undercover. But I just could not get beyond what Tati did for YEARS. Maybe I am naive, but the fact that Guardian took the mafia down in less than a year, without tells me that Tati completely SUCKED at her job! And I was just so disgusted by what she did for YEARS (eight i think) i could not get passed it.

The action was great. Chief lost his way when he was using Tati - which was disgusting and unnecessary. Tati was ...... not someone I could empathize with or connect with. Its a SUPER important book in the series story arch so I consider it a critical read. But not one I would re read.

3.5 Action Packed Stars

Still in love with this author’s King’s Of Guardian series and can’t get enough of the Kings and their Guardian family. To be honest this is probably one of my least favourite of the books so far. It’s good, but it has my least favourite trope- the whole secret identity-induced lies thing. I hate it when the main characters have to lie to each other in a romance even for good reasons. That said, this was really well-written and as I’ve come to expect from this author, really well balanced with romance, emotion and action film-worthy action. I like that we got significant scenes featuring past characters from previous books so that we’re updated on everyone’s HEA status. Highly recommend reading this series in order for the optimum experience.

Tatyana saw beneath his surface and did not think that he really was a criminal and tried to warn him and you can see her falling for him.
While Mike did not see beneath the surface and just wanted to use her and sent her to prison for all the evil things that he though she did. He did not even care or trying to discover the reason she was warning him and he hated the attraction that he felt for her. I don'think that he loved here and I care less about that would pain him to send her to prison. Throughout the book his main concern was to finding the Bratva Boss and throwing Tatyna to prison because she was a evil bitch. As a expector you can see that Tatyana was vulnerable and wasn't what appears and he failed to see until the very end even after he was told that there were in the Bratva a MI-6 operative he did even not linked this piece of information and Tatyna. Tatyana wanted him to stop doing things with the Bratva and she didn't want him in prison and even if he were caught and get in prison he would get free through his lawyers, she really did care for him. He did not care for her enough, if he did care he would have try to undertand her motives and would hire lawyers to see that she not get a life sentence and wait for here. No he just want her locked in prison for the rest of her life.
And I can see that he would have killed her without a thought if he thought that he needed. Spare me for you shallow love. After she got injured the first time he did not looked concerned enough and after she almost got killed and sent to prison that he thought she deserved he said to his friend that she was nothing to him. And I believe it.
The plot was good but the romance failed. Chief and Gabriel's book failed to show that they really care for the heroines, it seem that the heroines were dispensable. I like Centurion's book but unfortunately was short and she did deserved a longer book. Why in 99% of all kinds the books the heroines love so much the Heroes and their love for the heroines isn't even half or even 1 tenth while they Heroes when they loved the OWs, they loved them desperately and didn't care if they are major gold-digger bitches or evil, the same OWs that only stay with them for what they can get. While the heroines need to prove beyond the doubt in the end that they are worth of their loves? It would not bothered me if the shoe was in other foot. Why not make heroines with less love for the heroes. YES BECAUSE THE HEROES ONLY RESERVED THEIR LOVES FOR THE OWS WITHOUT CAUSE AND NEVER TO THE HEROINES.

I have been obsessed with this series since I read the first book and seven books in and I cannot get enough of the Kings of Guardian series. Chief's story is one that at times is so complex that you tend to block the rest of the world out to ensure you don't miss a thing. Chief goes deep undercover as David Xavier to try to keep his brothers from Guardian safe along with their families from the Bravata who have decided to target them. There are no guarantees he will come home from this mission and he will not have the usual backup that he is had in the past. Chief has denied himself love and companionship for so long and then comes along the concierge from the Bravata that he must get close to by any means. Tatyana and David (aka Chief) form a bond but both are playing each other or so it would appear but as real feelings get caught up and both are thinking they are dealing with the devil it all becomes complicated. This story nearly broke my heart as two people who have put their lives on hold to seek revenge and to ensure the safety of families will also put their real feelings to the side. Can real love prevail or will Gabriel play a hand to ensure one of the men he thinks of as a son will get the happy ending he so deserves. This book is full of suspense, secrets, heartache, hilarious moments and don't forget some absolutely beautiful soul stealing love. Chief's story will steal your heart.

Mike White Cloud AKA  David Xavier chose to take his friend and boss' identity to shut down a nasty human trafficking organization. The same one threatening the King family, Mike's family. It put him in deep cover for over a year. Finally, the time had come to meet with a go-between, Tatyana Petrov. What he did not know was the woman was also in deep deep cover for MI6 with the same purpose. Her motive was personal as well. When feelings began between them, neither could share with the other – their enemy.

This is deeply emotional for each. They are torn apart with guilt at having feelings for the other even though they are disgusted by the crimes they believe are being committed. The author has again given emotional characters, danger, even life-threatening, as well as steam. This time neither has the ability to contact their teams for support and back-up. While they know the team supports each operative, the depth of their covers makes contact too dangerous. They are really out in the cold.

After reading book one in the series, I had to have them all, which I do. Each book shows the writing skill of the author to provide unforgettable characters with action and love. Strong men and women who think they cannot share their lives find they can with the right person. It is hard to figure out how Mike and Tatyana will live long enough to find that path to a life together. This is a book you won't put down or forget. A five star recommend for me and a thank you to the author.

A hard book to read but so worth it

No plot spoilers
There are some potential triggers relating to kidnap and sexual slavery.
There are a couple of errors but nothing to get irritated about.
The book deals with the lead up to and culmination of the fight against the Bratva and it's incredibly complex plotline is so twisty and engaging I couldn't put the book down.
The characterisation is absolutely perfect, with multiple POV, ensuring the reader is kept in the loop and illustrating the individual personalities that allow you to form a connection with the characters.
Mike White Cloud, AKA Chief, has been very much a loner, with little personal information provided throughout the series but in this book all is revealed and he has become a favourite with me.
His female lead, Taty, has complex and heartbreaking motivators pushing her to the disturbing position of concierge, and apart from the subject matter I found I liked her immensely.
There are appearances from most of the team as the book builds to its climax.
There are some sex scenes and plenty of swearing.
The romance element seems doomed before it starts but it's there, and it builds steadily throughout.
I have no problem highly recommending the book but would advise reading from the beginning to obtain the best reading experience.

I loved Chief! He was such a great guy who was willing to die in order to save his Guardian family. Going undercover as David Xavier took a toll on Chief, especially when he realized he would have to take advantage of Tatyana, a woman he believed to be part of the Russian Bravata. But he was determined to do his job, and even more determined to walk away from his feelings no matter how much it hurt.

Tatyana had spent eight years undercover in her attempt to reach the top of a human trafficking group. Her gut told her that David wasn’t the man he pretended to be. Taty tried to fight the feelings she felt towards David, but she knew her heart would break in the end since the job had to be completed.

Ugh, I hated that these two were both suffering because of the identities they had to hide and the roles they had to play. I kept hoping one would figure it out, and then something would happen that would push them further apart. I loved the ending. I also love how much Gabriel truly cares about the men and women in Guardian. That man just looks out for his people. These books all have happy endings, and they all end with little peaks into the next characters' books. To me personally, the series gets better with each book.

Another fantastic installment of The Kings of Guardian series. I have been waiting patiently for Chief's story since he went undercover and Kris Michaels did not disappoint.

Blessed with his Alpha team family, Chief will risk it all, and do what it takes to ensure the entire King family and his 'brothers' are safe from the threats of the Bravata. A year in the making and it's mission 'go'. Too bad, Chief didn't know it was his heart that would be the casualty of this war.

Tatyana Petrov is a concierge for the Bravata, a criminal, but the heart wants, what the heart wants.
All is not what it seems and what started out as a means to an end, for both Taty and Chief, quickly becomes so much more...if only there were hope for something more normal one day. Hiding behind duty and deception they resign themselves to letting the chips fall where they may.

Chief is the consummate alpha billionaire, Taty is strong and resilient and their chemistry together is incendiary. The feels in this story are a roller coaster ride. Full of emotion and our favorite cast of Guardians, Chief's story will definitely be added to my list of favorites. Bring on #8 !

Here you find yourself in another great work of Kris Michaels. Chief begins with a glimpse of the previous year. There is a plan and hearts will be broken and a new journey arises.
Chief is now under the identity of David Xavier, he's infiltrated the Russian mafia and finds himself working to take down his enemy. To his surprise, it is not at all how he planned things to go.

Tatyana is working for the enemy and has done some pretty brutal things. She's now the target and Chief's forbidden attraction. He's hot, sexy as can be and unable to resist the very person he is ordered to take out.
Tatyana is complex character and finds herself also having to defeat her enemy. The two must face their demons in order to move forward. Their story is wonderfully written. Expect the unexpected when Kris Michaels is at the helm.
This is a grand continuation in the series!

At the final meeting, Guardian captures the head of the Bratva, an Americn ex-Guardian operative and his Russian Uncle; Taty is wounded and removed form the sight of the meeting with neither of them knowing the other was undercover. Chief was another Guardian Security winner from Kris Michaels! From the start of the book I knew that I was not going to be able to put it down until the very end! In the beginning, we see what transpired between Chief and Gabriel at the end of Jason. I loved their conversation and you can truly see the depth that Gabriel cares for his family. From there the adventure begins as Chief assumes the role of David Xavier and begins the process of helping to dismantle the human smuggling run by the Russians. I loved the forbidden attraction between Chief and Taty (who we know is the "bad guy"). You can't help but to cheer them on in the hopes that somehow they can make it. Can I also say I loved to see how the other characters provided support but I especially loved to see the glimpse into the lives of Jasmine and Chad. Of course, who can forget the Wonder twins. Can I just say I can't wait to see which lady they have their eye on. Kris Michaels you did it again and I am eagerly waiting for book 8, which I am hoping is Jewell! I received an ARC and have given an honest review.

I love this series, it just keeps getting better and better! This book follows Cheif and Tatyana's story, Cheif is deep undercover trying to bring the bratva down, he is willing to do anything to make sure the mission is a success. Tatyana works for the bratva as a concierge doing deliveries, she's not very far up the food chain but is trying to make her way up so she can find out who is at the top.As Cheif and Tatyana are thrown together and sparks fly, it starts off as a way to get close to the other for information but soon feelings become involved. They both know the other is the enemy but don't fight the pull they have to each other, what will happen when the truth comes out? Will their hearts remain intact?
Kris Michaels has done it again, this is an action packed read that leaves you on the edge of your seat right till the end! For fans of the series this is a must read, it can't be read as a standalone. I can't wait for the next instalment of this series.

I enjoyed this story a lot. As it really drew me in and kept me engaged throughout. Although there wasn't much in the way of action, but what there was I did enjoy

As for Chief and Taty I really felt for them both and at times I even got a bit teary. Just because it was really obvious they cared about each other. Yet they both believe the other is a criminal. Who they would eventually have to arrest. So they had to continually fight against their feelings. In order to keep their covers in tact and do their jobs. Which they are both doing for very different reasons. And all of this for me really added to the story. Not to mention they had plenty of chemistry and shared lots of hot moments.

There were also plenty of appearances from other Guardian characters. Some of whom I must confess I couldn't really remember but there were some I definitely did. Including the wonder twins and Computer expert Jewell. Whose story is next and I will definitely be checking it out. As for Chief, I would happily recommend it to others. Especially to anyone who is a fan of this series.

I love this author and her books are awesome reads; however, this one fell a little short for me. Don't get me wrong it is a great story but I really like to see the romantic connection between the two main characters and I just did not see it in this book (even though there is plenty of physical connecting going on). Granted the author did not have time to expand upon the relationship between Chief and Tatyana as the book spends a lot of time with all of the other Guardians. The time the author spends away from Chief and Taty gives us glimpses into our previous characters lives (which was great) and lets us in on the takedown operations and behind the scenes planning required, as Guardian tries to cut off the Bravata's supply chains. A brief encounter with the Wonder Twins gives us a dose of levity that once again shows that these two need to get their own book, soon. Overall, it is a great story with plenty of action and intrigue and well worth the time to read.

Mike White Cloud works for Guardian, the biggest private security firm in the world. He is going undercover as a multi millionaire . That will not be quite as good as it sounds. It will be hard and dangerous work. His targets are the Bratva who have been selling sex slaves and threatening the families of those who work for Guardian.
It has taken Tatyana Petrov eight years to work her way up to a position of trust in the Bratva. She is the one who delivers the "toys" to the customers and collects the payment details. She hopes that soon she will get to meet the big boss.
This is part of a series that is best read in order, but each book could be read on it's own. It's the background story line that needs order. The story is full of lies, intrigue, bullets and battles. The emotional turmoil our characters face is intense. How can two people on opposite sides of the law be so drawn to each other, and how will it end??.
A wonderful all action read.

I must recommend to read book 1 before reading this one. I did not realize that until I got into the story. Characters from pervious books appear and it confused me but I got through it and was able to make sense. Its kind of like starting a soap opera in the middle of a storyline and you just kind of try following along. So READ book 1!

The premise of the book intrigued me. Loved the undercover aspects and how deep these covers got. The tension throughout the story was high so it kept me reading so I could find out what was happening next. Loved Chief and his interaction with Tatyana and how their attraction just built up and fighting their feelings when trying to do their jobs. This is my first book from this author so I am going back to read book 1 and re-read this one because I think I may like it more than when I read it. Loved the writing though!

If you have come this far in the series then I am sure you won't be disappointed.

Chief is the seventh instalment in the Kings of Guardian series by Kris Michaels. It is a perfect mix of action, romance, and family drama that was so easy to get hooked on. Each book spotlights a different member of the King ‘family’ - the elite operatives working for Guardian Security - so you get a fresh story every time, but with plenty of familiar faces popping in along the way.
The plots are fast-moving, with everything from high-risk rescues to international missions, but what really makes the series stand out is the loyalty, teasing banter, and the intense, heartfelt romances which gives all the action so much more depth.
If you like romantic suspense, military romance, or strong law enforcement vibes, intriguing characters, and a sense of found family, then this series is definitely worth diving into. It’s exciting, emotional, and just the right amount of addictive.
Happy Reading…
