Hello!
Thank you for stopping by.
The short story is I was born in Toronto, Canada. When I was 16, my family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and that is where I met my wife, Bev.
We've been married for 43 years and share our home in Southwest Missouri with 4 dogs, 3 cats, 8 chickens, a herd of goats. We have 3 sons and 12 grandchildren that keep us hopping.
I've been known to ride my motorcycle in nice weather, play golf in nice weather, and tend my garden in nice weather. In bad weather, I prefer to stay inside. :)
Thanks to the support of you, our readers, I've been able to devote full time to my writing. Bev does our cover designs.
We hope you our books are enjoyable and you'll let us know.
Please feel free to contact us at: jdalglish7@gmail.com or on Facebook
God Bless, John & Bev

Another clean, entertaining police procedural from John Dalglish. I enjoyed the easy repartee between the lead detectives, Kate Walker and Tanner Austin, and the intuitive way they worked. The character development was great, the storyline was absorbing and the narrator fit the story well. He did a good job of both the male and female voices and created tension and intrigue in all the right places. I do like how the author does different stories in different cities in each book in the series but I do hope he will revisit these two detectives at some time in the future.

Denver homicide detectives Kate Walker and her young partner Tanner Austin , are called to the scene of a murder. An airline pilot has arrived home from his Las Vegas flight on Easter Sunday, to find that his wife has been shot to death.

His wife had had an affair, so that's a possible motive for the husband, always the most obvious suspect. The lover, though, is also an obvious suspect, and he seems to be a bit of a creep.

Then they get called to another murder, and the M.O. is identical.

The first victim, Carol Hampton, was an artist, and was on the advisory board of the Denver Art Museum, after having started there as a docent. The second victim, Mariel, was also a docent at the museum, and they had both worked closely with the same curator, Todd Palmer.

(I'll take a moment here to note that I listened to the audiobook, and have included only the names whose spelling I'm confident about. Let's also note that "confident" does not necessarily mean "correct." Please do point out errors and omissions if you have correct spellings.)

Todd Palmer has connections to both victims. Unfortunately, so does Carol's lover, Ken Blackwell, an artist and art professor, and another docent, Angel.

And none of these guys comes across as too nice to be a suspect.

This is a fairly tight police procedural, and has solid character development for the detectives. It's absorbing to hold your attention for its length--closer to novella than novel--and all the odds are against it in this particular "one book per city" series, I'd like to get to know Walker and Austin better.

Recommended.

I received a free copy of this audiobook, and am reviewing it voluntarily.

Tom Hampton, pilot for SouthWest, arrives home on Easter Sunday to discover Carol, his wife's body. Detective Kate Walker and rookie, Tanner Austin are assigned the case. Then a second body is found. Mariel Reyna, who the reader discovers alive until she's not. Both send chills through me. The latter, more.

I was drawn into the story right away. Tension tightened as the husband searched for his wife, then slammed down when he found her.

The mystery darkened as the detectives worked the case. Dana McCloud, the coroner, does a detailed examination. Kate has advice for her partner, "If the case swallows you, get out." Clues are revealed, characters profiles are deepened, the pages turn.

Another great read by Dalglish. Love em. On to Seattle for another adventure.

As usual, I thouroughly enjoyed this John Dalglish book. He may have written a bad book but I haven't read it.

Don't let the 3 stars throw you. One star is "horrible book, couldn't finish", two stars is "I have read worse but this isn't very good", three stars is " I enjoyed this book and it was well done", four stars "best book I've read this year" and five is "one of the top 20 books in my lifetime!"

This was a solid well done book and it entertained me.

Fair read

Being from the Denver metro area, some of the locations information does not work in the context. I.e., Colfax (the 1500 block north) does not fit with the South Perry, or Quitman Sts. Close but off by about a mile and a half. Also, some timeframes did just a little off, or seemed to be. A little slower read, overall.

Great book!

I read the "Jason Strong" series and fell in love with this author. I was looking for something else to read and came across the "City Murders" series. They are great! I couldn't put the book down. I just had to see who the killer was. I would recommend these books to anyone!!

Can't hardly wait for #6.

Another hard to put down book. So great to read a book written by someone intelligent enough they do not have to use street language or get bogged down in sex situations. Great read.

Not that great

Apparently the author uploaded the wrong copy because it was full of editors notes. Some of the comedy in this one fell flat. It wasn't a page turner like some of the others.

Great Read

All of the City Murders books have been great.
They all have interesting characters in realistic descriptions of their respective cities. Enough twists and turns to keep them very interesting.

Enjoyable

I thought this was a great book. It flowed well and read quickly. I was disappointed when I finished because I wanted to keep reading. I love the two detectives. Great chemistry.

Tough Read

I am giving this book 3 stars because I couldn't finish. The writing in this book has taken a nosedive from the previous ones in the series. The main characters small talk is annoying and as I said the quality of the writing is lacking.

I'm glad I found this author. Clean is nice, but I also enjoy the no nonsense style of writing. Characters are always interesting. I don't think you would regret reading a John Dalglish book.

One of the best by the author.

All of John Dalglish's books that I've read have been really good. This seemed to top the others. Good story, good characters, and well written.

Love story telling style

While not a series the continuation of style and method of story telling have the same benefits. Moving setting to different city creates new interest.
