Tall, Dark, Deadly Alpha is a collection of the first three novels in the Reaper series from New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant!
There is no escaping a Reaper. We are elite assassins, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, we are coming for you...
Dark Alpha’s Claim Baylon’s whole existence is based on taking what Death wants. Born to eliminate Fae guilty of unforgivable crimes, his reckless, wild nature makes him the perfect assassin to carry out Death's bidding. But when he lays eyes on Jordyn, he’s never wanted a woman-never mind a human-so badly. A Reaper saving Jordyn’s life will only attract danger, but Baylon vows to protect her at all costs from the Fae that hunt her.
Dark Alpha’s Embrace Kyran is a warrior. As a Reaper who does Death's bidding, weakness is a word he doesn't understand. Until stunning librarian River White stirs emotions deep within him he’s never felt before. But underneath those wide eyes and fierce femininity, she has a weapon, one she won't hesitate to use. And when the Dark begin their deadly descent, Kyran and River need each other's love and protection...or risk fracturing apart.
Dark Alpha’s Demand Talen exists to exact vengeance on the Fae for their wrongs per Death's orders – a fearsome Fae. But Neve captured his soul with just a look from her seductive gaze, and Talen has never wanted, never hungered for anyone else more than her. But someone has set out to kill her – and expose Talen. But he’ll stop at nothing to destroy any man – human or Fae – who brings harm to her.
Donna is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of over a hundred novels. Her most popular series is the breathtaking Dark King (aka Dragon King) series featuring dragons, immortal Highlanders, and the Fae.
In addition to her novels, Donna has written short stories, novellas, and novelettes for digital-first and print release. She has been dubbed as giving the “paranormal genre a burst of fresh air” by the San Francisco Book Review. Her work has been hailed as having “deft plotting and expert characterization” by Publisher’s Weekly and “sizzling” by RT Book Reviews.
She has been recognized with awards from both bookseller and reader contests including the National Reader’s Choice Award, Booksellers Best Award, as well as the coveted K.I.S.S. Award from RT Book Reviews.
Donna travels often for various speaking engagements, conferences, and book signings. She is also a frequent workshop presenter at national conferences such as RT Book Lovers Convention and Thrillerfest, as well as local chapters.
Born and raised in Texas, she also has ties across the border in Louisiana. Growing up with two such vibrant cultures, her Cajun side of the family taught her the “spicy” side of life while her Texas roots gave her two-steppin’ and bareback riding. She is never far from her faithful 80 pound dog, Sisko, or her three cats. She can often be found at the movies or bookstore with her children. Or buying makeup. And shoes.
I have read the three books that make up this box set, I have my reviews for the individual books below:
Dark Alpha’s Claim – 5 stars Wow - I really do love Donna Grant's books! I knew a little bit about the Reapers from reading the latest instalment of her fabulous Dragon Kings series so as soon as I saw this book I wanted to get my hands on it! It’s a brilliant read and I can't wait for the next in the series. The books flows so well, there us magic, death, threats, love and hot romance! I cannot recommend her books enough - so good!
Dark Alpha’s Embrace – 5 stars I actually read Dark Alpha's Embrace in February 2017 but I have just realised that I didn't actually it my review online. Dark Alpha's Embrace is the second book in the Reaper series and it is a series that I am already loving!! This book is really well written and has Donna's usual flare for detail. I loved how the story within this book runs through that of the Dark Kings too and the characters can cross over being set in the same period. I do love the Dragon Kings but the Reapers definitely run a close second and are really growing on me. Donna has really has created some fantastic characters, particularly Erith, or Death. Loving the series and eagerly waiting for the next instalment!!
Dark Alpha’s Demand – 5 stars I love the Dragon King series and may have to admit that I like this current series on the Reapers even more! I really enjoyed this book and the characters are amazing as always. The plot was solid and well thought through (I'd love to know where the author gets her ideas from!), already looking forward to the next instalment, honestly loved this one and read it in a few hours.
I'm a fan of Grant's work, so I definitely enjoyed this compilation of the first three Reaper novels. I've thoroughly enjoyed the world she's constructed and how she's connected the stories between the Dragon Kings series, Warriors series, and now the Reapers.
At times her stories definitely follow a formula -- but it is a successful one and she makes her characters unique enough that I still get wrapped up in the stories, even when they feel a tad familiar, and get invested in the characters and their lives.
As a caveat, the particular edition I read had a number of punctuation and formatting errors which I found a little distracting -- however, I don't lay these at Grant's feet. But St. Martin's Press' editorial team could have done a better job with the proofreading.
Waited a long time for these Reaper Stories. (1) Baylon found love doing Death's job of eliminating those who are guilty of unforgivable crimes. (Dark and Light Fae) Something told him that this order to kill was all wrong. Seeking out his prey and meeting Jordyn, who was the first half-fae he located. He knew that all bets were off when it came to her. (2) Kyran, another Reaper Warrior, doing Death's bidding. Weakness is a word that he doesn't understand , until he meets a strong, proud, and lovely librarian by the name of River White. Who know her way around a blade and the Dark Fae. (3) Talen exists to Death's bidding and exact vengeance on the Fae for their wrongs. He meet Neve. She captured his soul with just a gaze, She makes hungered for things he never wanted. He would stop at nothing to destroy anyone who wanted to bring harm to her.
Loved this book. Having read all of Dark series it nice knowing all the characters and how they associate with others. Can't wait to see them take down Bran and find out how he's draining Death of her powers. Would recommend this book to anyone. The book was excellent.
Can't wait to see how each of the Reapers find their mates. Wondering when Death will acknowledge her love to Cael.
These interwoven stories are killing me. I love these but hate the bad guy keeps going. I want answers but once I get them I will be sad it's over.. Lol Onto the next book Dragon king book I am sure. Oh by the way great books and stories. I don't do recaps that's silly to me.
It was really difficult to pick a rating for this. On one hand, the world and characters sucked me right in and made me care about their lives and outcomes. On the other hand, there is a lot of telling rather than showing, the female characters all sort of have the same "my family is dead" and "omg what if Death kills me?!" story line. Also, the book had some editing errors that stuck out.

Well I’m hooked on this series now! Not that I thought that I wouldn’t be! I’ve read all the kings and warriors and was hooked on them too! Donna has a way of taking you away to these places and become so attached to the characters. You feel what they feel and I love that she can do that
The books are amazing. I loved them, although it would have been good to hear how the other reapers got betrayed and got turned to a reaper, apart from that I really enjoyed the books, I can't wait to read the rest and to find out when they kick Bran's butt.

I read this series semi backwards. First time for everything. It has shown to be a twist. Still good tho. Kind of like reading once upon a time. I hate Bran!
Personally, I did not care for this book. I was expecting it to be a shifter series since the title mentioned 'Alpha' but it had nothing to do with shifters or the omegaverse. It had three novels in one and each novel followed a different couple. The stories were all similar, a group of men that assembled to protect the fae and human world from dark fae who drain humans of their life. These men are forbidden from forming relationships and yet the main character of each novel still manage to find their fated mate. The plot was the same in each book, basically forbidden love until it wasn't with a hint of spice. The novels still followed the overall plot which was trying to find the bad guy but in the three novels that I read nothing really happened. The pacing was off, the couples moved at light speed falling in love with each other at first sight and getting pregnant a couple chapters later while the overall plot was turtle paced. Will not continue the series.
Yet another great book in The Reapers Series. Can't wait to read the next one in the series. Donna is fast becoming a personal favorite author in this genre.
