Jack Larsen is a billionaire playboy trying to outrun a murder charge, and he just walked into my diner. It’s the most exciting thing to happen in this tiny town since forever, so I don’t mind flirting with the incredibly hot, incredibly dangerous fugitive, especially when he looks at me that way.
I’ve followed the details of the case in the news, and it doesn’t look good for Jack. All evidence points to him. Jack killed his father.
He doesn’t know I know who he is, of course. He tells me his name is Pete, and I go along with it. Maybe it’s foolish to be alone with him in the empty diner, late at night, but I always liked to play close to the edge.
The smoking hot man in front of me is full of a darkness I can’t fathom, but I crave a taste.
Just one night with him, that’s all I need, just a moment’s relief from this small town boredom. I willingly give in to his seduction. Soon, his breath is hot against my neck, his hands rough on my skin. It feels so good to have his body pressed against me, the fear and lust making my head spin.
That’s when I mess up.
I open my mouth and say the one word I shouldn’t.
“Jack.”

Holy chit - It was like riding the tilt-a-whirl - Every time I thought I had it figured out - someone switched directions on me! An Engaging, Hypnotic -Edge of your seat Romantic Thriller
This is my first Samantha Cade book and I have to say it was a different read. Jack is on the run from the police for the murder of his father. Not knowing if he did kill his father or not is haunting him. Having been a rich kid and wanting for nothing Jack doesn't remember what happened the night his father was murdered since he was drunk and high. While on the run he meets Amber who knows who he is but doesn't rat him out. Jack ends up taking Amber hostage and the two try to figure out who really killed Jack's father. This is a good story with lots of mystery and characters in it. You have to keep up with everything going on and with all the characters being added so that you know what is going on. Sometimes I wanted to smack Jack for being dumb but at the same time, it made sense for how he was raised. Amber is a strong woman that believes in her man. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
Jack Larsen is wanted for his Father's murder I have followed everything in the papers and of tv I live in a small town and not much happens in this burg but Jack just walked into the dinner that is were I work I am a Amber Parker a waitress I just wanted one night of bliss but I made the mistake of letting him know I knew who he was and now I am his prisoner and I am going with him where he goes I don't think he did it so I am going to try to get away from him but I am scared of him who would not be but I am falling in love with him too. oh I am so much in trouble this book was a great and hot exciting read loved reading in hated to see it end page turner for sure. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. And I loved it lots Michelle
The plausibility of this book is something that did not allow me to enjoy this book as much. Amber was extremely naive...You recognize someone from a police most wanted list and decide to fantasize about him?!!! I'm afraid not sister!
To each its own and all that but that was your first major clue that you may be TSTL. Jack kidnaps her, brandishing a knife, and she is hot for him?? The guy acts like someone in need of serious psychiatric help blacking out, using drugs....flags!
Any way, I finished what I started because at one point I had to see how much more OTT this was going to get. I was not disappointed. I don't think I'll follow this series. Sorry!
This is a suspenseful story of a man accused of murder who is trying to save himself from a prison sentence. He meets a young woman who likes her men a little dangerous and plays along with his fake name. The story keeps you guessing and offers an exciting story and interesting characters.
A dark, psychological thriller of a romantic ride. I really enjoyed the book even if I knew who the bad guy was almost from the beginning. It was a great seeing how the author got us there. ***I decided to review an ARC of this book.***
copy received for honest review This story is full of mystery, secrets and betrayal. The prelude is gripping and the story does not let you down. There are many twists and turns. The romance started a little shaky for me. Amber was attracted to Jack because he was dangerous, a killer!? life was a little boring but that is a fantasy I couldn't quite get into. I got past that because the story was fast paced and had me hopping. It was a wild ride,
Amber who's a waitress in a boring little town keeps herself entertained by reading crime mysteries. She recognizes the wanted man named Jack who is using the alias of Jeff. There's an instant attraction between them both and they spend the night together. She messes up when she calls his real name out in a moment of passion. He's on the run wanted for the murder of his father. Amber is attracted to danger. Jack is a dark personality and scary at times. Lots of drama, suspense and surprises. I received an arc copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This story was okay. The heroine was TSTL. She recognizes the guy the minute she sees him enter the diner where she works. She knows this guy is wanted for murder but she still closes the restaurant with him still in it. This story isn't really dark. It starts out that way and turns into a murder mystery with sex. The "hero" is all kinds of messed up but our heroine sticks with him. There are a lot of typos. I didn't care for the omnipotent POV. There was one line that had me shaking my head. "With his brain cells still fried from the coke, he finds it easier than normal to fall into a relaxed state." From what I've observed of people doing coke, they don't fall into a relaxed state. All in all I still liked the story. I'm glad I got it on a deal though.
