While it says, "for parents and professionals", it definitely reads more for professionals...

Aside from that, it is EXTREMELY repetitive. the number of times it says the proper/most effective treatment for OCD is CBT with ERP and SSRIs as a possible supplement to that is staggering! I'm guessing it's because each chapter is written by a different person, so they didn't actually talk to each other when writing their topics, so they repeat over and over the same information.

In the 250 pages in this book, I learned a lot... but I love science and research. if you're just looking for a simple guide to OCD as a parent, this is absolutely NOT the book for you.

This is a great primer for clinicians and parents alike who wish to learn more about pediatric OCD. While parts can get somewhat repetitive at times (chapters are written by different authors and topics can overlap a bit), this book has all the essential information someone might need to understand the basics of what OCD looks like, what effective treatment looks like, what factors contribute to prognosis and treatment, how to find a practitioner who can treat OCD, and how families begin addressing OCD in the home.

This is a compilation of different articles and essays. There is a lot.of good information, but it does get repetitive.
