That’s all Gavin Koche has known. He’s been the equalizing force between the two sides of his brothers. Wild and unpredictable when needed. Calm and stoic when called upon. He’s been whatever they’ve needed. But what about what he needs? Well, that would be the short, curvy, copper-haired beauty that he’s just gone and fallen head over heels for. Unfortunately, her introduction to him and his world came at a rather inopportune moment…
Lena Piter preferred to stay behind a desk. She was at home there, with her computer, keyboard, and mouse. Technology was her friend. Heading out into the wild was not her idea of fun. For instance, there weren’t people trying to kill her at home! Despite a dramatic rescue by the mysterious and reclusive Gavin, her stay has gone from sleeping in a cabin to passing out on the forest floor, with nothing but the handsome, ripped, and warm shifter curled up behind her.
Although she desperately wants to return to safety, the shifters—and Gavin—need her help. Lena doesn’t want to let him down, so she volunteers to go along with him on a dangerous mission where her skills will come in handy. She knows that Gavin will protect her. Gavin knows he loves her, but an inadvertent mistake on her part may have deprived him of the chance to say so. He just doesn’t know it yet. Will Lena be able to correct her error in time, or has she just killed Gavin and all his brothers?
Amelia Jade loves to write the stories of tall, growly shifter men and the women who come to love them. Living out in the back-country near the mountains, she keeps her own alpha male close by, to keep the bears away and keep her warm. In her down time (which is rare), she loves to read science-fiction with a dash of fantasy. You can often find her curled up in front of the real wood-burning fireplace, her nose firmly buried in a book or her favorite ereader. The cold can't bother her there!

Blackjack Bears: Gavin is one of those stories that will grab your attention, and perhaps your heart as well, right from the beginning. Gavin is the middle brother, he’s always been the peacekeeper between his older and his younger brothers. The one to step in and stop them, and to take the brunt of their displeasure when he does that. It’s rare that his brothers see past the shield he’s holding over his emotions. He’s the quiet one, the one who wants peace above all else… as far as his brothers are concerned. It will take a pretty amazing woman with her own self-worth issues to finally allow them all to see what an amazing man Gavin truly is.
Lena’s skills are not on the front lines of war, but in the subtle knowledge she can gain through her computer abilities… and maybe a bit of hacking when warranted. She’s worked with a shadowy group that wants to end the Institute’s plans, but always in the background unseen. Now she’s been asked to travel to the woods and bring her unique skills to those that need her the most. The last thing she expected to find were the Koche brothers in all their battling glory – or the one man who could calm them… and stir her up.
I was caught up in Blackjack Bear Gavin with very little effort. I’ve followed these connecting series from the start and they only continue to fuel my need for more of their stories. Gavin and Lena work so well together. They each have varying self-worth issues that the other seems to be able to help resolve. Now they simply have to survive the Institute’s men and get on with living. We’ll meet up with some known villains, a few new faces to add to our loathe list, an epic battle as well as the sexy moments as Gavin and Lena discover what they are to each other – mates.
If you love shifters, drama that builds over several stories and continues even better, some sexy moments with a very hot shifter – then this story and these series should be on your reading radar. I’d recommend them for any Shifter Romance or Paranormal Romance reader who enjoys a solid story with fast paced action and interesting secondary characters.

The Roche Brothers vs. The Institute Third book of five, things are heating up in this saga. Lena is the computer whiz. Who has helped Madison in her efforts against the Institute. As the brothers find their mates (Pierce with Mila and Keen with Madison) they become more involved in their guerilla warfare against the Institute. Lena comes to be readily available to assist in their next adventure. They are attacked and Gavin saves Lena. Their relationship grows from there. When the others go to retrieve the traitor, Raven, Lena reads the stolen computer files and realizes they are going into a trap. She tries to reach them by phone and cannot, so she goes after them and accidentally collides with the lead SUV and although she is injured, the first car is in a ditch and the second is upside done in the ditch. The brothers manage to fight off the Institute shifters, but Massian and Mean both are shot by the Director, who gets away. He leaves a Polaroid of their eldest brother, Maximus, beaten and bloody. They had thought he had gone back to Cadia to warn them about the Institute. Now they must wait for the Director to contact them, but they will still be trying to find out where Maximus is being held. The next book is about the second oldest brother and I cannot wait to read it!
Amelia Jade is one of my all-time favorite author's. I start one of her books and keep reading until the end. She draws one into her stories with realistic characters and an enthralling story line. You cannot go wrong with one of her books, and it will keep you wanting more.
I'm a big fan of Amelia Jade and this entry into her vast body of work is a wonderful read. The Koche Brothers, who we first meet in Base Camp Bears, are pitted against the Institute, a covert government operation designed to weaken the shifter world. Middle brother Gavin who has always tried to strike a balance between his older and younger siblings, meets his mate in the formidable Lena, a computer hacker who's truly unaware of her worth. As she struggles to see how she fits into Gavin's world, both he and she find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other. Slowly but surely they realize that they are fated mates and together with the other brothers and their mates confront a convoy of the Institute. After a devastating confrontation they are left to look towards the future and plan how they could rescue older brother Maximus and vanquish the Institute once and for all. This is the third book of this series, can be read as a standalone and I can't wait for the next installment. I received a free copy of this book but voluntarily chose to leave a review.
A very good action filled read in this series. This book kicked off right from the start and kept me reading till the end. Oh my goodness this is getting so intriguing. Three brothers down, the two older troubled ones to go. Love the interaction between Gavin and Lena, it flowed so smoothly and carried one along for the ride. Lena is a computer genius who Maddison has been using in the background to help fight The Institute. Lena has to now step forward into the trenches as things have gone slightly sideways. Gavin is the peacemaking middle brother, keeping the older two trouble makers sensible and supporting his two younger brothers. When he meets Lena he knows something is happening, his bear is faster than he is understanding. Loved the surprise picnic, boy did Lena get a big black surprise. Really worried about Maximus and what has happened to him. Has Kassian met his match in a curly haired smart mouth. This is my honest review of this book.

GAVIN
I really enjoyed book 3, Gavin and Lena's story. It continues from book two with the Koche brothers and their mates attempting to take down The Institute. Maddison calls in a computer genius to help them try and retrieve information on this organisation that's hell bend of ridding the world of the original shifters. But as much as they have good intentions and a great plan, things never seem to run smoothly at all. The storyline was entertaining and action packed with a healthy dose of romance. Gavin is the middle brother and the "peace keeper" of the family. His a really sweet guy, who is a little misunderstood. Lena is the computer genius called in to help them and from day one is thrown into the deep end. She's clever, feisty, and determined. I really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to reading Kassian's story.
All this series has been good, rollicking shifter adventure. But Gavin, the mysterious, aloof middle Koche brother provides the most exciting exploits yet. Lots of physical action, right from the get go, fights between the brothers and the Institute lackeys are action packed. The plot lights up this story with unexpected twists and turns. Gavin, as the middle brother usually plays the peacemaker. But with his two elder bros missing or withdrawn he's taking the role as leader. Add the new girl, reclusive computer nerd, Lena, to the mix and the fireworks fly. Best book in the series to this point, and that's saying a lot. Enjoy!
I am so happy that Amelia Jade wrote this series! She brought the Koche brothers to life, and I felt like I knew them well! Gavin, the middle brother, has always had to balance between his peaceful younger brothers and his almost-feral older brothers. Lena is a hacker who comes to help crack the systems of The Institute. The two end up literally fighting for their lives. Much mayhem, suspense, and passion ensues. I highly recommend this book and the entire series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This was one of the best. If you luv shifters, especially bears, you don't want to miss this. Five brothers to from prison in their homeland to prison in the human world. Each book tells how they meet their mates and change the course of their life. On going storyline of the fight to bring down an evil conspiracy that has the end goal of exterminating shifters from the world are suspense to the story and ties the books together. Highly recommended.
Annnnnd Amelia does it again! Gavin and Lena's story is filled with as much turmoil and excitement as you could ask for. She is a computer whiz (cough*hacker*cough) and, with their complete lack of technical skills and knowledge, much needed to aide their quest against the the "Institute." Maximus is missing and Kassian is responding worse then ever with his absence! The series is getting more intense, and the issues more intricate...cannot wait for the next installment!
This was a pretty good addition to the series. I really loved Gavin from the beginning, and how he was with Lena. There were a few minor things about Lena that I didn't like, but overall I did like her character, and loved them as a couple. Plot flowed nicely and was well written, and overall I enjoyed the book. I was gifted a copy.
They just get better and better. This is a totally marvelous series. Full of extreme action and love. It was totally awesome and I can hardly wait to start book four!!!!!
Awesome, all the books in this series go deep enough so you have an understanding of the characters and the story. Enjoy a really good read and great series
Another sure winner for the Blackjack bears series.
Gavin is a different than his brothers which makes this story a little more interesting. The author writing of this character was well done. She kept Gavin interesting and developed. His character straddles the middle between the brothers as peacekeeper and voice of reason and the occassion butt kicker when they need it.
If you like a man that enjoys looking at the night sky then he is the bear for you.
I have read and reviewed this book received from the author without and post this review voluntarily.

Her characters are awesome they all just fit together. Oh yes, another Must Read Books/Series. Lena Piter is the human, her family comes from old money, Lena wasn't like them she had different ideas on what she wanted to do so she left. She does computer jobs which it seems that she's in high demand for her talent and so she's makes a lot of money on her own, working many times with Madison. When Madison called with such a hush, hush emergency Lena drove to her. Not only did she want to help but she was very curious what she wouldn't tell her over the phone. She parked where she was told, than walking a little ways when she ran into Madison where she was introduced to the Koche Brothers well all except two. Maximus had gone to Cadia and Gavin was no where in sight. But Lena received a shock of her life, they were all talking having a nice time when they were attacked. Lena stood there and watched because she has never seen anything like this until Gavin grabbed her, they started running. Would they get away or be captured? Gavin Koche is a Bear Shifter with his four brother's Maximus, Kassian, Pierce and Kean they were put in jail by the Green Bearets in Cadia, where they were kidnapped by the Institute, when Pierce, Mila and Madison had rescued them all. Living in two cabins they are trying to figure out something to do so Cadia will trust them again. Maximus went to warn Cadia about the institute while the rest stood in cabins trying to figure out what else to do. They were attacked and than they knew what had to be done.
