Reeling from the terrors at Fort Wayward, all Benton wants to do is enjoy some peace with his new companion, Nicole. But everything changes in one horrific night with a single, unworldly whisper.
A malicious force now prowls the town unlike anything Benton has ever encountered. It remains hidden in broad daylight. It moves without making a sound. It kills by simply whispering its victim’s name.
Benton’s world unravels once again. He discovers that not only can this monster hunt Benton in reality, but also in his dreams. Severed from his ability to see through the eyes of a killer, Benton is unable to discover who’s next to die. But there’s no doubt that the hunt is on.
The duo is determined to save the residents of Fort Wayward. But they struggle to find a way to stop the demon. Time is running out.
It won’t be long before the demon discovers Benton’s name. And whispers him straight to his grave.
Not to skip right to the ending but man, this author sure knows how to close out her books with a bang! In this installment the newly formed dynamic duo meets not just another creepy bad "guy" but is also faced head on with deciding who they can trust and just how much. Benton's parents are really starting to buckle down with him because of course they cannot believe their sons dreams are prophetic but that he is the one bringing harm. Nichole is determined and ironically never deterred from trying to make Benton realize she is a true friend. Maybe she is deranged? That amount of cheery determination and ability I guess you could say to look past someone telling you they dont want you around is a little questionable. The duo is faced with an all new challenge, and quite honestly it is a lot like Scooby Doo but for a more "mature" audience, more "violence" and sadly no dog. This one was good, it wasn't great, but I'm committed to this series at this point. I would give this one a 2 star. It wasn't bad, I just feel like it really did not live up to first book. I don't know, I'm pretty jaded when it comes to horror and although these books detail super uncomfortable situations, which in real life would be terrifying, its just not an electric "read". -Happy Reading !
Benton gets a feeling about a the death of a girl. Nicole knows her and goes to talk to her, but something attacks her then and there. Benton sees what attacks her but he can't believe it, it's something without a head. Something is taking peoples hearts and killing them with only a whisper and Benton isn't able to see the victims. This something can hurt Benton both in this world and in his dreams. What is it and why is it here?
I loved book 1 and eagerly dived into this one when I got it. This starts with a bang and doesn't let up till the end. It's darker and scarier than the first and I loved it!! The plot is tighter than the last and is incredibly fast paced. I listened to this in one day because I couldn't put it aside.
Benton and Nicole have come a long way since the first book and have become stronger characters. Nicole isn't as annoying as she was in book 1 and Benton is learning to live with what he is. They are facing something sinister and I loved seeing them work together.
In all, book 2 is even better than the first. It's fast paced, scary and gripping and I definitely need the next book ASAP. Hopefully it will come to audio soon.
I can't find fault with Jake Urrys' performance!! He brought me into the story from the first sentence and brought the book alive with his inflections and cadences. He is a narrator I highly recommend and I hope he narrates all these books. Brilliant performance by a brilliant narrator.
I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.
This series really begins to shine in this book. The main characters, Benton and Nicole, are much better developed here. Benton begins having horrific nightmares about death stalking its victims. Problem is, once he awakens, it turns out the deaths actually happened but no physical evidence exists as to the cause of these deaths. Benton sees them in grisly detail in his dreams but none of what he sees remains in reality. What's worse, death begins to stalk Benton himself. While the monsters in this series, so far at least, are not as numerous as in other Scare Street series, they are no less frightening. Benton himself is a Banshee, a paranormal being. The real monsters here are based on legends from Ireland and other nations. This required considerable research and it shows. All in all, an exceptional read well worth the time.
I recently discovered Ms Clancy with The Bell Witch series so I tried these since I got the whole series or one audible credit.
Story=five stars- easily. Narrator three. The narrator for The Bell Witch series was infinitely better. This guy speaks so slow I had to speed up the tracks to not be annoyed to death. He also mispronounces several words. Latte, Sidhe (this one is hard. It’s sounds like she or shay. He says Sid-hey) the was another one too. It I can’t think of it. Minor things that didn’t take away from the book but were still annoying.
On to book three. I may stop listening and read the rest to avoid the narrator.
This is Banshee series book number two. It is so much better than book number one and I thought it was good. You have believable and interesting characters along with a dead girl without a heart. The storyline is getting captivating and it seems every page gets better. Benton continues with nightmares. You will not want to put this book down. Jake Urry is the Narrator and does an amazing job with narration. You will enjoy this book.
Who hasn't heard of the headless horseman? Benton and Nicole are attacked by the headless horseman soon after death of her friend Kimberly. I guarantee you'll never look at the headless horseman in the same context thar you once did! Although I'm not a not fan of mythology or Sci-Fi you'll absolutely want to read this book!
In this 2nd book in the trilogy, benton and nicole are still having to deal with the supernatural. This thing collects hearts but will Benton and Nicole figure out what it actually is before it collects theirs? Pick This up, you'll love it!!!
pretty good considering I don't really like Aduiobooks however this series seems interesting and I like it so far. A review copy of this Audiobook was sent to me by a Facebook review group, All of the above opinions are my own.
The only way I can tell you how awesome this series is, is by telling you I have the new Dean Koontz book setting here waiting, while I finish the rest of the series.
I like this series. At first, I thought the books were for young adults but it is not listed that way. This story was a little creepy so I will finish the series.
