One of the true cornerstones of Western literature comes to the Marvel Illustrated line! The ancient world is embroiled in a mighty clash of armies; Greek versus Trojan. Helen, the most beautiful woman in the world, has betrayed her husband, the Greek, Menelaus, and fled to Troy with Trojan prince, Paris. The Greeks have sailed to Troy to bring her back...and crush all that stand in their way. This is the first chapter in the saga that virtually defines the word epic. It is a tale of gods and men...heroism and betrayal. From the lips of Homer to the pages of Marvel Illustrated. And we did it just for you!

I liked the pics and the graphics; however, the font of this book is very difficult for me to read, and blood is coming out of my eyes! I hope the next one is not like this! Update: The next one and the one after that have almost the same problem, so I've decided to look at the photos instead of reading the book :/ Recommendation: If you haven't read The Iliad, then it probably would not be a good idea to start this comics series!
Using this to introduce some middle schoolers to ancient Greek literature. It obviously skips over a lot of stuff, but for just a general overview of the story with some fun pictures it does the job well enough.
This is my fourth time reading a rendition of The Iliad (I think I'm obsessed). Naturally, one can assume that I'd rate this book highly, but I didn't. This version was difficult to follow and seems to be written for individuals who already know the entire story of The Iliad, as the progression of the story was quick and skipped major parts.
My second complaint is that the design is not well suited to LCD screens. My poor eyes were straining to read the texts on my computer and I was happy to be done. I don't think I'll continue this series unfortunately. As short as it was, it wasn't worth the difficulty reading.
The Iliad deserves a graphic treatment. I don't pretend to be a scholar, but it covers the summary I've read well enough. Maybe a good map might help, but it covers the poem enough, and the illustrations are okay.
