I purchased this book mainly for researching the topic of hacking for a sequel to my own series. Although some of the information is quite useful to that endeavor, other information is a bit over the head of a novice. Delving into Python, for instance, for someone who isn't familiar with programming Python is hardly useful. An improvement here might be a simple mention of the preliminaries in the manner of that usually encountered when considering taking a college course: a list of prerequisites that it would be useful for the reader to complete before going forward.

Another thing: the book could use an editor, proofreader, and formatter. I'm not saying this just because I do all of these things, but because the errors in each of these areas are very distracting. Pages 95 and 96 are practically unreadable, and has such oddities as "vulnerabilities" with the terminal s on the next line. Plus, the section header for this area appears on the previous page (94) with no associated material until you get to the next page.

I would have given the book a better review if the above-mentioned items had been cleaned up prior to publication, but as it stands it needs a little work. It might even make a nice part of a series of books of its size that take the reader from novice to expert, but again as it stands it tries to present too much in too little space. My advice: break this down into areas you'd like to address, Josh, and then hit each one in a single book that goes a bit more in depth with each topic.
