About the author

Mohan Rangachari (16 October 1952 – 10 June 2019) known professionally as Crazy Mohan, was an Indian actor, comedian, screenwriter and playwright. An engineer by profession, Mohan started writing plays and established his own drama troupe called "Crazy Creations" in 1979. In addition to dramas and tele-serials, Mohan worked as a dialogue writer on a number of comedy films. Mohan had written over 30 plays, worked on over 40 films, having cameo roles in each film, and written 100 short stories. The Tamil Nadu state government in the year 2004, awarded him the Kalaimamani title for excellence in the field of arts and literature.

கிரேசி மோகன் (1952 - 2019) தமிழ் திரையுலகில் கதை-வசன கர்த்தாவாகவும், நடிகராகவும் பணியாற்றியவர். இது தவிர நாடக ஆசிரியராகவும் பணியாற்றியுள்ளார். பல மேடை நாடகங்களை இயக்கி நடித்துள்ளார். அடிப்படையில் பொறியாளாரான இவர் நடிகர் கமல்ஹாசன் மூலம் சினிமாவில் அறிமுகம் ஆனார். அபூர்வ சகோதரர்கள் திரைப்படத்திற்கு வசனம் எழுதியதன் மூலமாக திரையுலகில் அறிமுகமான இவர் தொடர்ந்து மைக்கேல் மதன காமராஜன், பஞ்ச தந்திரம், வசூல்ராஜா எம்.பி.பி.எஸ் உள்ளிட்ட பல திரைப்படங்களுக்கு கதை-வசன கர்த்தாவாக பணியாற்றியுள்ளார். முழுக்கவே நகைச்சுவையாக எழுதுவது இவரது சிறப்பு.

I am one of the million fans of Crazy Mohan brand of humor world over. Characterised by stunning word play humor, exaggeration and slapstick confusion the one thing you can be sure about is that it is clean. Unfortunate that he had to leave us so early.

Mr.Kicha is his collection of stories featuring the 40 year old Kicha and his grandmother Echumi Patti. The stories are borderline ridiculous like cartoons which after the first few stories - you catch the drift. It is enjoyable enough, but then you can't have a whole lot in one go (like I did).

The tamil writing is almost trademark Crazy, reminiscent of his best dramas and movies. Sample this : A dish antenna which is used by his grandma for drying 'vadam' is called side-dish antenna. Some parts were laugh out loud and some were what-was-that. In parts this reminded me of Douglas Adam's HHGTG - the awe you feel at the ridiculousness which was being described here.

One of the 'book-only' ploys is the use of long sentences that keep getting ridiculous. Though it started out ok, by the end of the book, you start dreading them. This was ideal for a weekly column.

🔆நாடக உலகில் தனக்கென்ன பெரும் இடத்தை வைத்திருந்தார், கிரேஸி மோகன் . ‘விடாது கருப்பு’ எல்லாரையும் பயத்தில் உறைய வைத்தது . இவரின் ‘ விடாது சிரிப்பு’ எல்லாருக்கும் சிரித்து சிரித்து வயிறு வெடிக்கும் படி செய்து விட்டது . திரைப்படங்களிலும் இவர் பங்களிப்பு அதிக . உதாரணமாக மைக்கேல் மதன காம ராஜன் , பஞ்சதந்திரம் , வசூல்ராஜா உள்ளிட்டவை . இன்றைய காலகட்டத்தில் நகைச்சுவை என்றால் அதி இரண்டு அர்த்தம் கொண்டது தான் அதிகம் . எந்தவொரு வார்த்தையிலும் நம் முகம் கோணாமல் நம்மை சிரிக்க வைப்பவர்களுள் கிரேஸி மோகனும் ஒருவர். தன் தாத்தா வேங்கடகிருஷ்ண அய்யங்கார், அவர்களின் பெயரை தன் கதாபாத்திரமான கிச்சாவை உருவாக்கியுள்ளார்.

🔆கிச்சாவும் லட்சுமிப் பாட்டியும் அடிக்கும் லூட்டி அலாதியானது . இந்திய கிரிக்கெட் அணியுடன் கிச்சா விளையாடிய அனுபவத்தைப் படிக்கும் போது நாமும் மைதானத்தில் இருந்தது போல உணர்வு .

🔆சிங்கத்தை வளர்க்கிற கதை . ஒருநாளும் நடக்காது என்று தெரிந்திருந்தாலும் சிரிப்பிற்கு பஞ்சமில்லை .

🔆2000 களின் முற்பகுதியில் எழுதியிருந்தாலும், இப்போது படிக்கும் போது கூட ரசம் குறையாமல் இருக்கிறது . நகைச்சுவை புத்தகங்களை படிப்பதற்கு ஆர்வம் இருந்தால், இது நல்ல வாசிப்பாக அமையும் .

கிச்சா என்கிற கிரேசி மோகனின் கற்பனை கதாபாத்திரம் அடிக்கும் லூட்டிகள் தான் இந்த மிஸ்டர் கிச்சா புத்தகம். ஒரு முட்டாள் தனமான அசடு வழியும் கதாபாத்திரம் கிறுக்குத்தனமாக என்ன செய்தாலும் இறுதியில் நல்லதாக முடியும் கதை என துப்பறியும் சாம்பு வகையறா புத்தகம். பைலட்டுக்கு மயக்கம் வர பிளைட் ஓட்டுவது, சிங்கத்துக்கு சீடை கொடுப்பது என கொஞ்சம் ஓவர் டோஸ் தான். ஒரு நாஸ்ட்டாலஜி ஃபீலில் வாசிக்க கிடைக்கிறது. பெரிய அளவு நமது ஆர்வத்தை ஹோல்ட் செய்யவில்லை என்றாலும் முடிந்த அளவு நம்மை சிரிக்க வைக்க முயல்கிறது. கிரேசி மோகன் பல ஒன் லைன்கள் நம்மை எப்படியோ சிரிக்க வைக்கிறது. முக்கியமாக சில அத்தியாயங்கள் நம்மை 90 காலகட்டத்திற்கு அழைத்து செல்கிறது. நீங்கள் கிரேசி மோகன் ரசிகராக இருந்தால் கண்டிப்பாக வாசிக்கலாம். நாஸ்டாலஜி பிரியராக இருந்தால் ஒரு முறை முயற்சி செய்து பார்க்கலாம். ஒருவேளை இந்த வகையறா புத்தகங்கள் உங்களை இருக்காது எனில் இது உங்களுக்கு சரிப்பட்டு வராது.

கிரேஸி மோகனின் "கிச்சா" வும் "எச்சுமி பாட்டி"யும், இந்நகைச்சுவை கதைகள் நெடுக உங்கள் முகத்தில் புன்முறுவலையும் நகைச்சுவை களிப்பையும் குறையாமல் பார்த்துக்கொள்வர்.

பல இடங்களில், உள்ளபடியே, நம்மை தனியாக சிரிக்க வைத்து கொண்டிருக்கும்படியான குறும்புகளும் சேட்டைகளும் உடையவராக 'கிச்சா' பாத்திரம் உருவாக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

திருவல்லிக்கேணி தெருக்களில் சுற்றி வரும் கிச்சா, 40வயதிலும் சிறுபிள்ளை கணக்காக செய்யும் அழிச்சாட்டியங்களும், சென்னை லோக்கல் பேச்சும், பிராமண பேச்சும் கலந்து கட்டி நகைச்சுவை கலவையான சேட்டைகளே கதைகளாக இருக்க்கிறது. கிரேசி அவர்களின் பல நாடகங்களிலும், காமெடி சீரியல்களிலும் கிச்சா'வின் சேட்டைகள் எடுத்தாளப் பட்டிருக்கின்றன என்றால், அது புகையல்ல...ஆங்!! சாரி, மிகையல்ல.

இப்படியான விகட வர்ணனைகள் கொண்ட தொகுப்புதான் இப்புத்தகம்...ஒரே மூச்சில் படித்துஙிட கூடியது. வொர்த்து!!!

Crazy mohan has tried to give a comedy novel with help of two characters lakshmi patti and kicha. Since this is kind of fiction some of the plots were over the top, but still crazy mohan in deep succeeds in getting laugh out of reader.

Some of the stories were not upto crazy sir standard, but some of them were typical crazy mohan ie. laugh riot. Comedy is difficutlt genre and mohan sir trying to write a novel in that itself needs pat on the back. The book is of the right size, if the author has gone a bit more the readers might have felt bored so it was apt.

If you want to read a light novel, not thinking much and have small laughs here and there, this book will suit well. Go for it

Another hilarious collection of stories. The imaginative characters Kicha & Echchumi (Lakshmi) Paati are narrated in such a manner they feel real & the ambience and locations are mostly real except a few. The chapters are filled with continuous humour which is lively.

Disappointment. it was very hard for me to proceed with and complete this.. imaginations were good but is not enough to make people laugh.. hardly it bought smile in my face..

Honestly I was skeptical before reading the book. I was under the impression that Crazy Mohan comedies are outdated. But boy was I wrong. Intentional laughter riot was waiting throughout the book. Amazing read.
