The purportedly unlimited potential and threat of AI technology has been hyped up in recent years. Any layman reader looking for an updated and comprehensive yet comprehensible primer should look no further than this book. The book's main author, Kai-Fu Lee, is one of the world's most renowned experts on AI, boasting decades of research experiences in tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Apple. The book starts with a brief history of AI development and milestones, followed by thoughts on the primary fields of existing AI applications and implementation, far-reaching implications for our job markets, a redefinition of how many jobs will be done, restructuring of our education systems, policy making, startup opportunities, and philosophical reflections on human existence in the age of omnipresent advanced AI. If the authors' predictions prove correct, AI will drastically reshape our societies, and it's everyone's business to understand how to adapt to that incoming future.
