4 Magical Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was a beautiful story with a sprinkling of something a little mystical, a little spiritual, a little paranormal... not even sure how to categorize it, and I’m sure each of us will take something a little different away from it, depending upon our own beliefs.... I found it quite magical and it left me feeling serene....

Once again I got to vacation vicariously through my book, this time we went to southern Italy! The descriptions were so vivid I felt as though I was there and as always when reading a book that takes place in Italy it made me hungry! Villa Rosso was located in such a charming village filled with such delightful, Artistic, and talented people....

Ellie was a wife to her soulmate Josh and a mother to her two teenage daughters... she has just begun working part time for an interior design company and when her boss/friend has a family emergency Ellie is called on to make a business trip to Italy.... when Ellie arrives in Italy she meets with Max and there is something between them... Ellie feels as though she knows Max and she feels as though she has been to Villa Rosso before... is this déjà vu? Is this kismet? Can you have more than one soulmate?

You need to know this is not a romance... even though it is a book filled with love... it is a story full of mystery, Secrets, and discovery.... it was quite unique and I can honestly say I have never read a book quite like this before... and even if you don’t believe in fate or deep connections, you can chalk it all up to coincidence... as I said everyone will get something a little different from this book....

Absolutely recommend when you’re in the mood for a book about love and secrets with a bit of a magical vibe...

4☆ A Mystical Mystery full of intrigue and a sprinkle of romance!

The Secrets of Villa Rosso is a beautifully compelling read filled with mystery, intrigue, connections, friendship, romance and drama.

As soon as I find out a book is based in Italy I get excited, as I have always wanted to travel there.

Ellie is happily married to her soul mate and they have two children, but when her friend asks her to go to Italy to help her she sets off to help.

It's here at Villa Rosso Evie meets Max.
Ellie and Max are quiet clearly drawn to each other but Evie can't help wondering why she feels so connected to him and to Villa Rosso.

This book really does have a mystical feel to it which simply adds to the charm of Villa Rosso and the fabulous characters.
I do believe in Soul mates, and I believe everything happens for a reason.
If you do too you will thoroughly enjoy this enchanting warm mystery, with a sprinkle of romance.

Thank you to Rachel Random Resources for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

My Rating:

3.5

Favorite Quotes:

Paris had worked its magic and if you can’t be lovers in Paris, then you have no romance in your soul.

My life is split into two; two lives that run in parallel and only cross over in my dreams… I’m torn… but unable to let go of either of the two men who make me feel complete.

My Review:

Despite its considerable length, this was an easy and comfortable read and I appreciated the pleasant and descriptive quality of the writing as well as the creativity and uniqueness of the premise, storylines, and slowly developing mysterious mystical elements. The characters were likable and I enjoyed the scenic details of the Italian locales. The pace was gentle and slow while the narrative was low-key and mild in tone with a small undercurrent of tension running throughout. My curiosity remained tipped and I was interested in how the secrets and dream elements would resolve. The rhythm remained at a slow and leisurely waltz while I kept hoping for occasional riffs of livelier tempos.

Vivid, heartwarming, and magical!

The Secrets of Villa Rosso is the enchanting, thought-provoking story of Ellie, a happily married, middle-aged woman whose life gets turned upside down after a quick, unexpected business trip to Itay leaves her pondering the inexplicable connection she feels to the villa, the country, and the director of the estate, Max, and has her questioning whether it’s possible to have two soul mates in one lifetime.

The writing is sincere and reflective. The characters are kindhearted, loyal, and appealing. And the plot sweeps you away into an engaging, heartfelt tale of family, friendship, community, self-discovery, obligation, life, love, mystery, and the intricacies of interior design.

Overall, The Secrets of Villa Rosso is a sweet, emotional tale with a picturesque backdrop, a little mystery, and an authentic feel that will leave you dreaming of sunshine and olive trees and have you contemplating the real power of karma and fate.

Thank you to Linn B. Halton for sending me a copy as part of a giveaway.

This is a delightfully different story. Ellie Maddison is happily married with two daughters and a husband, Josh, who she feels is her soul mate. They have a great relationship, filled with love. When she returns to work with a close family friend she never dreamed of flying off to Italy but that's just what she ends up doing to help that friend out. When she's there she meets Max Jackson and there's a strange connection between the two of them, one that develops as he guides her round the area. However, there's mystery, drama and so much more in this intriguing story.  She still loves Josh but feels inextricably linked to Max as well. Is it possible to have two soul mates?

This is a story of strong relationships, mystery, intrigue, soul mates and dilemmas. It has family values, love and friendship as powerful themes throughout it and is an engaging read. The lovely descriptions bring the beautifully crafted interior design pieces to life in the imagination of the readers. The characters are well developed and easy to empathise with and the setting is simply gorgeous! It is a story packed with puzzles to be solved and a heartwarming read.

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

THE SECRETS OF VILLA ROSSO by Linn B. Halton will transport you to the beautiful countryside of Southern Italy while also weaving a magic spell of love, friendship, and the meaning of soulmates.

Ellie Madison is happily married to Josh and as I learned about how they met and their journey through married life and parenthood, I really connected with these warm characters who came alive on the page before me. But when Ellie is sent to Villa Rosso in Italy at the last minute for work, it will open her eyes and her heart to new experiences and new sights but a sense of deja vu surrounds her throughout - has she been to this place before? Why does it feel so familiar? And why does she feel a connection with the estate director, Max Johnson?
As Ellie tries to help Max with his own situation, she longs to untangle the sensations that linger, even when she returns back to her family, and she must uncover why this place has burrowed into her heart like it's where she belongs?

With breathtaking descriptions, the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of this exquisite country will take your breath away and make you yearn for a holiday to Italy - it will also make you hungry so be warned!! The characters are vibrant, engaging, and very likeable and it is easy for the reader to become embroiled in the mystery and beauty of the drama - which is why I sat down to read for twenty minutes and resurfaced an hour and a half later.

There is love, friendship, drama, confusion, memories, and more in this wonderful story and I highly recommend THE SECRETS OF VILLA ROSSO by Linn B. Halton to anyone who enjoys a cleverly crafted, descriptive story.

I make no secret of the fact that I am a huge Linn B Halton fan and always get extremely excited when she writes a new book. The Secrets of Villa Rosso particularly excited me because I'm also writing a book that's partially set in Italy too. And, I hope that I have described the beautiful country just as well as Linn Halton has in her book. Reading this book was like being transported there and I could even smell the beautiful flowers and the Italian cooking. I could imagine the terrace at Villa Rosso with the beautiful view of the mountains.

Ellie has always been a stay at home mother and wife. When her friend offers her a part time position in her interior design company Ellie gladly accepts and life for her and her family trundles on. She dearly loves her husband Josh and their two teenage daughters and life is as it should be with Ellie relying heavily on Josh for love, passion and friendship. She feels she doesn't need anyone else and that Josh is her soul mate. You are only ever blessed with one true soul mate in life. Aren't you? She always holds a little something of herself back from everyone, apart from her best friend and boss. Why does she need anything or anyone else when she has Josh.

Ellie offers to take her friend's place on a business trip to Italy to meet with Max at Villa Rosso and hopefully forge the beginnings of a working relationship between the design company and the community around Villa Rosso. Ellie is completely out of her comfort zone. There is so much at stake.

Once there, Ellie is completely under the spell of Villa Rosso and its beauty. But, the place seems familiar to her. Has she been there before and why does she feel like she knows Max? The feeling is unsettling and soon Ellie discovers that the villa harbours its own secrets, namely the disappearance of Max's financee. However, when she returns home, Ellie can't break her connection to Villa Rosso or to Max and she finds no solace even in sleep. Is it possible to live two lives? To love two people? To be two people in completely different worlds?

In her usual and wonderful style, Linn B Halton has woven the paranormal into this story but in such a way that its almost teasing the reader, wanting them to keep reading to find out what is going on. This book draws you in and keeps you there. The book also introduces a cast of complicated yet intriguing characters. While Ellie appears happy with her life there is an undercurrent of control from her husband Josh. On the outside he appears supportive of all she does, but there's always an element of subtly undermining her job, her confidence and her ambition. A desperate need to remind her that the family isn't the same without her. He doesn't like things to change too much. I found him a difficult character to like. He never actually does anything truly terrible to Ellie.............but yet I found him oppressive. Ellie sees this as love.

Max is introduced to us as a lovely gentle man who is living within the glare of suspicion over the disappearance of his fiancee. He is tied to Villa Rosso, unable to leave through a sense of duty. Yet Ellie knows that there is more to the mystery and despite feeling completely overwhelmed by her own sense of duty to family and her conflicting feelings, she is drawn deeper and deeper into the mystery, wanting to free Max from Villa Rosso. Her own circumstances mirror Max as they are both a prisoner to commitment and the promises they have made.

This book was beautifully paced throughout and just the right amount of tension to keep the reader gripped from start to finish. Linn B Halton has written another book that will keep her fans enthralled by her beautiful writing style and ability to introduce an interesting story with some unusual elements. The ending was definitely not what I expected by I have to say it worked extremely well and I love it when a book has the ability to leave me a little surprised. A highly recommended read.

I thought the format worked really well for this story. At Ellie and Josh’s 19th wedding anniversary which has been organised by best friend Livvie, Ellie sees something which unsettles her. I was very intrigued by this! We’re then taken back to Josh and Ellie’s life together (where my attachment to Ellie grew quite strong) before the fateful trip to Italy and the effect it continues to have on Ellie throughout the story.

Italy was a fabulous setting. Linn B Halton’s writing drew me in so that my senses were heightened … the scents, the tastes and the vistas that Ellie sees came alive. As well as the connection between Max and Ellie, it’s here that we uncover another mystery (more intrigue) linked with family, tradition, obligation and history. It’s a mystery that Ellie needs to solve and the ties become even stronger once back with her family. I loved how it is resolved. Very creative.

Her family life is another part of the story I was drawn into. Daughters Hettie and Rosie are typical teens and it was so easy to identify with them. I loved the strong bond they had as a family and wondered if it would still hold when a challenge happens. I didn’t like Josh. I thought he was too manipulative (which you might see as being caring!) and didn’t see the strength that I did in Ellie’s character. I think he would have wrapped Ellie up in cotton wool if he could have! I loved Ellie’s job 🙂 You can tell Linn B Halton writes from experience as she takes us through a process.

The connection is unique and when you read it you’ll understand why. Surreal scenes and at times feeling very ‘Neptunian’ this explores something much deeper than an emotion. Such a poignant ending in one respect but joyful in another!

The Secrets of Villa Rosso is a read not only about family, friendships, romance and mystery but something Linn B Halton is exceptionally good at writing about … the paranormal/occult. I think this will appeal to a wide audience and would recommend you add to your wishlists. Not only entertainment but thought provoking too!

As someone who holidays regularly in Italy and loves everything about the country, I was looking forward to reading The Secrets of the Villa Rosso. I have to say Linn didn't disappoint.  The description of Ellie's visit to Castrovillari brought everything back - the sights, sounds and aromas.  It was all so vivid I could have been there.

The story was beautifully written.  First I was taken on soul mates Ellie and Josh's journey - falling in love, getting married and having kids (I loved Hettie and Rosie and all their growing pains - two very typical teenagers). And then it shifted from life in the Maddison household as Ellie's unexpected visit to Italy brings her face to face with Max Johnson and a feeling of déjà vu.  From that moment you are drawn into a world where Ellie is trying to be all things to two very different men. A difficult if not impossible situation. Her relationship with Max is cleverly and believably woven as concern for his situation draws her deeper into the mysterious disappearance of his fiancée Aletta.

I had no idea how this would all end but when it did it was not only a surprise, it left me reaching for the tissues.

A brilliant and well deserved five stars!

If I made a list of all the elements in a book that would have me saying “I really enjoyed that one”, this lovely book would have a full row of enthusiastic ticks. Those of you who read my reviews regularly will know I have a bit of a “thing” about settings, and the author’s descriptions of the Villa Rosso nestled among the Calabrian olive groves was really exceptional and had me thinking about another holiday. Linn’s interior design background shines through too – from the spectacular light in the villa’s entrance hall to the smaller artisan-produced items so lovingly described. The whole background story of Max supporting a community turning their hand to art and craftsmanship as a route out of a struggle to survive was just excellent, and lifted the whole book to another level.

I really liked the main characters. First there was the story of Ellie’s marriage and the deep love underpinning it (must admit though, her husband was a tad too controlling for my liking…), her life with the family, her decision to take up her work as an interior designer again, and her steps into the frightening and unknown with her buying trip to Italy, followed by her inner turmoil after her return. And then there’s Max – there’s a sizzle to his every encounter with Ellie, and a real depth and fascination to his back story, which turns into a mystery to be resolved, and which gives the book a gripping, page-turning quality that I really enjoyed.

And then there’s the central premise of the story, whether it’s possible to have two soulmates, and why that should be. The book opens with a really striking image that made me realise there might be more to this book than its surface story – and I’ll admit it did worry me a tad, as paranormal elements need to be particularly well-handled to win me over. I won’t go into detail – it’s something you need to experience as you read, draw your own conclusions about the elements that might be slightly outside your experience. But I will say that it totally worked for me… very original, very different, and totally convincing.

I really hadn’t expected the writing to be as strong as it was – as well as the glorious scene setting, all the characters (even the ones at the story’s periphery) spring to life on the page, all the emotional content is something you feel rather than simply read, and the dialogue is wonderfully natural. And the story grabbed me to such an extent that I read the whole book in one lovely sitting, totally transported.

I have no idea why it’s taken me so long to read a book by Linn B Halton – I had no idea what I was missing, and I suspect this will be the first of many. I loved it.

The story begins in the present as Ellie and Josh celebrate their nineteenth wedding anniversary. Her best friend and boss, Livvie, is hosting a party in their honour. When Ellie picks up Livvie’s ornamental crystal ball she sees a surreal image which gives her chills as she wonders what it signifies. Although it’s reputed to have belonged to a famous medium, no-one else has seen anything in the crystal and Livvie is sure it doesn’t work.

Through Ellie’s following reminiscences we see the development of her relationship with Josh, the love they share, family life with their two daughters, Hettie and Rosie, and Ellie’s burgeoning interior design career. All was going well, until Ellie took Livvie’s place on a buying trip to Italy and the Villa Rosso. That’s when Ellie’s life took an unexpected and unsettling turn. What was it about Villa Rosso, and especially Max Johnson, that gives her a strange feeling of recognition.

Linn Halton incorporates a paranormal thread into the premise of the story, relating to fate, soul mates and feelings of familiarity and connection where there should be none. It made me think about strong positive/negatives feelings we can experience ourselves on meeting someone for the first time, and the reason for those feelings.

I love when stories include a gorgeous setting and this one is about as good as it gets. If the Villa Rosso was a real place I think my trip would be booked already. The sights, sounds and scents fairly jump off the page. The otherworldly thread is intriguing, giving an edge and extra depth, not only to the narrative but also to Ellie, a strong character who I liked, by experiencing her emotions while gaining an insight into what makes her tick. Very much a character driven story, with the sadness and mystery surrounding Max having an unexpected outcome, and Ellie’s struggles with her connection and feelings towards him. The main players are portrayed well, even if I couldn’t quite take to Josh. I wanted to like him but he came across as too needy for me.

My favourite parts of the story were those set in Italy. I enjoyed the insights into the interior design business and reading about the individually crafted pieces. Max was a sympathetic character and I so wanted a happy outcome for him.

I always enjoy Linn Halton’s writing and the paranormal/supernatural theme she adds, in one form or another, to her books.

I chose to read and review an advanced copy of The Secrets of Villa Rosso based on a copy of the book supplied by the author/publisher and Brook Cottage Books.

Ellie is happily married to her soulmate Josh. For Ellie family always comes first and that's why she usually doesn't travel for her job. When Ellie's boss can't go on a business trip to Italy Ellie makes an exception and takes her place. She works for an interior design company and her destination is Villa Rosso in Italy. Ellie immediately feels a connection to the place and the people she meets. She also feels very much at ease with the man she closely has to work with, Max. It's like she's known him for a long time. Will Ellie be able to make the most of her stay in Italy? Her visit changes her, how will the secrets she's taking home with her influence her once so peaceful life?

The Secrets of Villa Rosso is a beautiful story about true love. I love it when souls connect on a deeper level and am a big fan of stories about this topic. Linn B. Halton skillfully writes about it and managed to captivate me from beginning to end. Her main characters are interesting and I immediately had the idea I could get really close to them. They have complex personalities with distinctive character traits, which makes them incredibly interesting to read about. Ellie is a kind woman with a big heart. She's always there for the people who need her and sometimes that makes things hard for her. She has to make some difficult decisions and reading about them kept me on the edge of my seat. Sometimes the right way to do something is also the wrong way, which is the exact thing that made me fall in love with The Secrets of Villa Rosso. I really enjoyed reading about Ellie, the important people in her life and everything they're going through together.

Linn B. Halton has a wonderful writing style. Her vivid descriptions make her characters and settings come to life in an impressive way and it's easy to lose myself in the atmosphere she creates. Her stories always manage to enchant me and I can't help but read every book she writes in one sitting, because she makes me too curious to put them down. Her stories are filled with magical bonds, love on many different levels, fascinating emotional layers and plenty of precious moments. The Secrets of Villa Rosso is a special story with a stunning emotional ending that moved me to tears. I highly recommend this fantastic book.

I adored Evie's trip to Italy and experiencing the Villa Rosso through her eyes. She has never been to Italy before, nor on a work trip abroad by herself, and the whole experience leaves a lasting mark on her.

She is in a loving marriage, with two teenage daughters, and believes that her husband Josh, is her soul mate.

Then she meets Max, and realises that its possible to have two soul mates, and she feels an inexplicable draw to him, and wants to help him.

There are fates and other such powers at play clearly in this book, and regardless of whether you believe in those or just that coincidences do happen, its clear that there were outside forces contributing to Evie's reaction to her trip to Italy.

This a story of love, of friendship, with a fabulous mystery in it, set to a backdrop of family life, with gorgeous interior design pieces and crafts, some fabulous characters, and reading this book weirdly gave me an overwhelming sense of calm.

It is another fabulous book from the always talented Linn B. Halton, and one that I am so glad that I had the chance to read.

Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Impulse for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

My Review The Secrets of Villa Rosso - Linn B. Halton

The first chapter of this book was spectacular. The hook with the Crystal Ball that doesn't work but did - had me hook line and sinker!

The Good
After the first chapter, my expectations for the book were HIGH. Unfortunately, it morphed into storytelling of family life, Josh, kids and soul mates that didn't excite me.

The Bad
I loved Max. Yes. Not at all bad! But I imagined like a Twilight hero or British Italian Darcy.

The Ugly
I only like the Max bits of the book. I am sorry! I traveled so much with work, go to Italy all the time and have two children. It wasn't the book for me to be reminded of the stress I have daily.
That didn't mean that I hated it. I liked everything, Max!

3.5 Stars - I read this as part of a blog tour

*This book was given to me by the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review – all opinions are my own.*
This book started really well, but unfortunately went into a direction I wasn't ready for and didn't enjoy. The book wasn't really a romance, it wasn't really a travel fiction and it wasn't really a mystery. It tried to be all, but in my eyes it didn't really achieve any of them well. The main character goes on a work trip and feels a connection to the manager of the of the estate. This was all and well, but for some reason it turned into an esoteric connection, with frankly no real chemistry in my eyes.

I did not like this. At all. This book tried too much to be so many things that it felt all over the place. The characters are also very cardboard cut out and the story is just plain boring. The ending? Totally did not please me. Also, what's up with the "two lives" thingy? It ended up being so cringe-y.

As a blogger/reviewer I hear the name Linn Halton and just automatically put my hand up to read the next book. Linn lets the words flow so smoothly from the outset, she creates her characters into well defined individuals that I’m sure if I met them on the street I would say “Hi” … her ability to draw a vision on the blank pages, to allow the background, area, views, aromas appear all there ready to envelope the reader and their senses before the real story begins.

This time Italy features highly so the opportunity to portray the beauty and depth of this country is extreme. Imagine you are taking a scenic route to paradise and the final destination is Villa Rosso.

Ellie and Josh are your average family, two teenagers and a steady or could be said humdrum life. To Ellie though it’s all she ever wanted and keeping her family happy is her aim in life.

A chance comes up via a friend for Ellie to go on a business trip to Italy. She is full of enthusiasm yet when she sets eyes on the Villa and Max the man in charge she feels a distinct touch of de ja vue. Max senses it as well.

As time goes on there is an underlying sadness emulating from Max, Ellie is drawn to him inexplicably. She has always considered her hubby to be her soul mate so she can’t possibly be feeling the same about Max can she?

I have to say out of the two my heart would have gone to Max, Josh was too controlling, the type who lavishes affection to the point she knows exactly how far she can step before he yanks her back in. Always the charmer to the public of course, but I digress.

The secrets surrounding the villa intrigued me, watching the relationships juggle between Ellie and Josh/Max were fascinating. This is not your average romance so don’t go into it expecting lots of slushy sections. The beauty of Linn’s storytelling is it includes magical, mystery and a slice of paranormal. As most know, paranormal is not my ‘thing’ but it’s all so cleverly interwoven that it just adds to the appeal.

Throughout I was changing my mind to the outcome I wanted, the one we got surprised me, caused a lump in my throat but it felt right. Another wonderful book that will keep you guessing all the way through, even if you can only sit in your armchair to read it, you will feel as though you have travelled and had a fantastic experience, Italy is a charming place and this is shown clearly throughout.

I read an e-copy of this book from the publisher in return for an honest review.

Have you ever been to a place where you feel so comfortable with the surroundings and the people but yet it's the first time you've ever been there? This is what happens to Ellie Maddison when she visits Villa Rosso and feels a deep, familiar connection with Max. Ellie has found her soul mate in her husband Josh and so we follow Ellie on her journey as she tries to deal with the lasting effects from her trip.

This is the first book by Linn B Halton I have read and it certainly won't be my last. Through writing which flows effortlessly, I was transported from the very first word, into Ellie's world and the descriptions of Italy and the interior design world are devine!

I thought the structure of the story worked really well. It begins with a party for Ellie and Josh's nineteenth wedding anniversary, where Ellie sees something unsettling. It then goes back in time and Ellie takes us on her journey from the trip to Italy, the mystery which surrounds Villa Rosso, meeting Max and to her life when she returns to England.

The Secrets of Villa Rosso is Ellie's story so is told solely from her point of view. I connected with her in a way I have never connected with a character before. Every thought. Every feeling. I was living Ellie's experiences with her. When I had to put the book down because real life had to happen, I was left wondering how she was. Hats off to Linn B. Halton for writing which touched me in this way. Ellie also deeply feels things and this is mirrored in the strength and depth of the writing. It oozes off of every page.

Beautifully written and with a clever storyline, The Secrets of Villa Rosso is a story which I know will stay with me for a very long time. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to escape in a page-turner this Summer.

We've all experienced that feeling of deja vu about a place, a person or an event but what if the feeling didn't go away but intensified and impinged on your real life, threatening the happiness of those you love most? This is what happens to Ellie when she meets Max at the Villa Rosso on a serendipitous business trip.
The story is full of mysteries and broken relationships that hide beneath the beautiful facade of Villa Rosso. Max's story is so sad and it is this inherent sadness that draws the reader to him, even though his presence is putting Ellie and Josh's idyllic relationship in danger.
There are plenty of twists and supernatural shadows as the story unfurls but the strength of Ellie's relationship with Josh gives us hope that love will prevail, even when the romance of Italy draws Ellie closer to Max.
The ending is both expected yet surprising and perfect for such a thought-provoking read.
I received a copy of this book from Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Ellie has found her perfect soul mate in husband Josh, for the past couple of decades they have enjoyed a happy married life and have two children, however when Ellie is called away on an unexpected business trip to Italy and visits the enchanting Villa Rosso, she meets Max and feels strangely drawn to him and that they may have a deep connection. Knowing she is in love with her husband she struggles to understand her feelings towards Max. Is it possible their connection is from another time and place, or even another life?

I always like author Linn B. Halton books for there subtle hint of the paranormal and this creates another dimension in a lot of her stories and with a touch of mystery too surrounding this story, you will be pulled into this story straight away and the story will captivate you to the very end. Linn. B. Halton knows how to tell a good romance story that will tug on your heartstrings.

Ellie loves her job in internal design working for her best friend Livvie so when Livvie has to pull out of visiting her potential new suppliers in Italy Ellie agrees to go in her place even though it means leaving her beloved Josh and their two teenage daughters at home to fend for themselves

When she arrives in Italy she instantly falls in love with the place but has an odd feeling of deja vu, especially when she meets the man in charge Max. As the days go by and she gets to know him better she finds that she is having feelings for him......but how can that be so she loves Josh, he is her soulmate.......surely you can't have two soulmates!

When Max needs help with the mystery of his disappearing fiancée Ellie is happy to help investigate him but only at a distance she cannot risk her life with Josh and the girls....but why does she seem so connected to him especially in her dreams!

An intriguing story with mysticism and emotional parts... very enjoyable read

I love the way this author writes & have read all she has written so far. What started out as a chic lit novel, ended up as a suspense mystery. I loved all it's twists & turns. Every time I thought I had it all worked out, some other snippet of information came along & changed it all. I really did feel for the characters & what they were going through. A family continually torn apart by one event, that they can't move on from & how it affects others around them. I enjoyed it immensely. Brilliant writing, as always from this author.

I really have mixed feelings about this book. I have just finished it and I don't know. The book description sounds amazing.

Ellie is on a business trip in south Italy where she meets Max, her contact for the design cooperative. She is representing her boss to find out if a business relationship is possible and if it's worth investing in the company. Immediately Ellie feels drawn to the village and to Max.

She feels like coming home to her lover. Well, Ellie is happily married and has two teenage daughters.

The way the story is told will appeal to many readers, as let's be honest, we've all have been through a phase in our lives where logic and physics can't explain the connection between two people, is it temporary schizopphrenia?

Would I read this book again? Not really, it feels too unfinished, the end rushed. In a way understandable, but I don't know. One or two chapters more, would have been beneficial.

When Ellie met Josh she instantly knew that he'd be the one for her. They're soulmates and have been married for a very long time. On their 19th wedding anniversary Ellie sees something that she can't explain. These images intrigue her and she wants to find out what they mean. Ellie works as an interior designer for her best friend Livvie. When Livvie's mother is being admitted to the hospital because of an injury Ellie takes over Livvie's business trip to Italy. As soon as Ellie arrives in Italy she feels like she's been there before. Ellie is instantly taken by her destination, Villa Rosso, and the man in charge, Max. How can it be that someone Ellie has never met before awakens such strong feelings inside of her?

Ellie doesn't doubt her feelings for Josh, but she can't deny her connection to Max. During the day she's living her life with Josh and her two daughters like she's always done, but during the night she visits Max in her dreams. Ellie is a loving mother with a strong need to help people. She keeps her personal feelings private and the only person who knows everything about her is Josh. I loved the fact that Ellie stays true to what she believes in, but is strong enough to seek guidance when she needs it.

The Secrets of Villa Rosso mesmerized me. The vivid descriptions of the handmate Italian items that Livvie and Ellie order for their business made me wish I could buy them myself. Linn B. Halton includes paranormal touches in all of her stories and she keeps making me think about what I personally believe in. I love it when a book manages to have this thought-provoking effect on me. I'm already sure The Secrets of Villa Rosso will stay with me for a very long time. The story is beautiful and Linn B. Halton's books always positively affect me. She is one of my favorite authors and I already can't wait to read her next creation.

This is the first book I have read of Linn B Halton and I really loved it.

It was a well written story with lovely characters and a fabulous setting. I particularly enjoyed the parts set in Italy - it felt as if I was there, I could smell the gorgeous Italian cooking and it made me long to be there too!

It is a beautiful story about true love and soul mates. I was captivated from the start and I really cared about the characters. Beautiful evocative writing, I lost myself in this book and couldn't put it down.

Highly recommended. I shall certainly be reading more from this author.

Those of you who remember me from my Me, My Books and I days will know that I'm a big fan of Linn B. Halton's writing, so naturally I jumped at the chance of getting stuck into her latest book ahead of the release date.

I quickly sank into the storyline with Linn's familiar writing style and psychic/spiritual scenes sparking my imagination. Ellie and Josh were such a lovely couple, reading about their life together put a big smile on my face.

A work task took Ellie away from her family to Italy, more specifically Villa Rosso, and it was here that her life began to change. Was fate responsible for the situation she found herself in?

Italy was warm and inviting, much like the authors writing - I could almost feel the warm sunshine and breathe in the fragrant scents. I felt like I was right there alongside Ellie as she explored the unfamiliar surroundings. However, there was something or someone who seemed familiar to her and I couldn't wait to find out what it all meant.

The air of mystery surrounding Max intrigued me and left me feeling a little bit suspicious of him. I couldn't decide if he was too good to be true or just genuinely good. The truth surprised me.

There were a couple of moments that actually gave me chills, things I hadn't been expecting happened and, thanks to Linn's fabulous storytelling, affected me quite dramatically. It became my mission to uncover the secrets of Villa Rosso and this meant that I flew through the pages in record time.

This was an absolute pleasure to read, every fate filled moment held my interest and encouraged me to think of more than simply what I can see in front of me. A truly touching tale that left me with tears in my eyes.
