It greatly helped my perspective on girls with a lot of "male friends". It's not so much what they are, but more importantly what they do. It's never wise to spend much time as a couple, when you're not a couple. Don't go on outings with just the two of you (not to use word "date"), don't gossip about your partner, don't be physical. Try to limit your interaction to the backdrop of where you initially met. That's how you can have a "flirtationship" at work and keep it fun without graying boundaries. Don't go out of your way for one another. Address the other's partner openly.

The author addresses herself to girls for whom it might not come as effortless to navigate this social maze. Yet, her tone can turn a bit condenscending sometimes.
