Amish Misfits #3

The Amish Bishop's Daughter

Rate this book
When you're the bishop's daughter, there are certain standards that have to be met. Anna Weaver felt the weight of that burden. Believing people were always waiting for her to put a foot wrong, she retreated into her shell and had few friends. There was only one man she did not feel awkward around, and that was her close friend, Levi Glick. Even though he had been in and out of the Amish community over the past year, Anna was certain he would soon commit to the Amish faith by baptism, and she ignored the rumors about him.
When Anna's cousin visits, Anna has a chance to see her life through someone else's eyes.
Anna discovers her parents hope she'll marry Stephen Baker, a friend of her brother's who was constantly at the house. Stephen and Anna disagreed about the issue of mining in the area and each were determined to make the other see sense.
Feeling Stephen is too old and not as much fun as Levi, Anna avoids him as she has always done, until her cousin intervenes. Gradually, as she spends more time with the two men, Anna learns what's important to her in a husband.
When the two men have different stories regarding a rumor, will Anna be able to figure out which one she can trust?
After one man breaks her heart, will she find love with the other, or has she left it too late?

Anna was expected to be perfect. Her father was a bishop. Anna spends most days fixing food and drinks for her father and his visitors. Anna’s mother is not well so Anna does all the chores. Anna loves Levi, but her parents want her to marry Stephen. The story has a happy ending.

Between a 3.0 and a 3.5 —So far in this series, I’ve only given the 2nd book a high rating. I felt that this book in the series was very, very predictable. And Anna, though very sweet, obviously hard-working, kind and caring, and talented at cooking, sewing, and taking care of others, was beyond naive. I guess to be fair, I’d attribute her being so naive to also being shy —those two characteristics frequently go hand in hand. However, if I’d been Mary, I’d be tempted to take Anna and give her a good shaking to knock some sense into her. I thought that Mary saw things more clearly than Anna did, and I think she did try to help Anna, but Anna didn’t always want to face the truth. It seems the way Anna was raised, her parents would have helped instill some common sense about people and how they can be for better or worse.

Even though I really do enjoy Samantha Price’s books, I do find her dialogue a little simplistic sometimes. It just seems like she feels the need to explain things that probably don’t need all that much explaining & I often thing she drags out a scene unnecessarily and I just want her to make the point and move on. It tends to get a little tedious at times, even boring. It makes parts of the story drag a little. I guess it is just her style though as I’ve read several of her series, and I often notice this. Apparently, it doesn’t discourage me too much or I would stop reading her books!

And the fact is that I still enjoy her writing enough that I am not willing to stop reading the series, and plan to read all of the books until I’ve finished them. As with many of her books, I’m reading them via Kindle Unlimited.

My review today is on the Amish Romance, The Amish Bishop's Daughter. This is book three in the Amish Misfits Series. I really enjoy Samantha's Amish stories and I'm sure you do to. This story is well written, faith based, and heart warming. I know you are going to love it.

Anna Weaver is the only child left at home. Her five brieders had left home and have families of their own. Anna's mamm's health is declining and Anna is forced to take on more and more of her mothers work each day. Her cousin, Mary has come for a visit and to help with chores. Anna tells of how much she likes one of the young men in the community but he has left several time. Levi, her best friend's brieder says he will stay but he has Anna tied in knots with worry. Mary thinks the Bishop is to strict especially when they think Anna's parents want her to marry Stephen.

Stephen Baker has known Anna all her life. She use to follow him and her brieders everywhere, she also use to tell everyone she would someday marry him. Anna's brieder's were Stephen's best friends and now he is patiently waiting for her. When her relationship with Levi blows up Stephen is there to pick up the pieces.

A journey of two hearts destined to be together and the man that tries to break Anna's heart with his indecision. God has a plan for these two, a good plan and not for evil. God has a plan for you too, a plan for a hope and a future. Trust Him, give Him your heart, and watch Him turn your life around.

THE AMISH BISHOP'S DAUGHTER by Samantha Price book 3 in "Amish Misfits"
Your heart goes out to Anna, it seems like it's all work, being the only daughter. The demands, with people always coming to their house, and the endless array of cookies and cakes to be made for them. It left her little time, and only a friend or two. She had an idea of a beau, but parents choice was an older man, who had been friends with the family for years. Her friend Mary was visiting when Anna's. Mother told her, gasps he is an old man of thirty. How can someone who has no time, and always having to be perfect, find someone to marry. A beautiful story of the young Anna, of thought's she wanted in a mate. When disappointed, and Mary back home, she thought of what was important in a marriage. Would he want her to continue as she has been, or find others to help with her parents. To bring her thoughts, and dreams to come about. Readers will love this series, and with this third book, will ponder, the choices, and the life of Anna.

Then, there is The Amish Bishop’s Daughter, where we meet Anna Weaver. Because she is the Bishop’s daughter, she is held to a higher standard. Even worse, she is the only daughter. Her brothers have already moved out, married, and moved on with their lives. However, Anna is kept at home to take care of her mother, who is struggling with her health.

Anna is the one who does all the baking and cooking, as well as serving drinks and food to all the people who visit her father on church business, as well as going to him for advice. She is only allowed to go out for a few hours on Saturday to spend time with her only friend, Naomi.

When her cousin comes to visit, Anna starts to see how hard her life is. And thinking about marriage and how she would have to take care of two households when she moves out with her husband. However, the only boy that she truly cares for is struggling to settle down. He can’t seem to decide whether he wants to get baptized or leave the faith. And Anna doesn’t know where that leaves her?

Have you met the Bishop's daughter? The one who steps up for an ailing mother and 9 brothers? Awesome cook, baker, seamstress, helpful and kind in every way, but never ever complimented for her looks or encouraged to find a husband. Now there are 2 potentials but one seems to be ambivalent toward the community and the other is a childhood crush that has always been there, always cared but never declared. What's a girl to do? Pray for answers and deliverance.

The Amish bishops daughter

This book should be required reading for all young girls and those ready for marriage. It would be a lesson in seeking someone with maturity and looking for someone who would be a reliable, trustworthy life partner not an exciting devil may care self centered personality.

A young Amish girl thinks she needs to be perfect as her dad is the Bishop. She’s drawn to a young man that can’t commit to the Amish life. Her big brothers best friend is always there and she finally realizes that he’s her man.

After the same song repeatedly...

Meaning she had the same worry / concern and it got tiresome. And the tieing and untieing of her capp ... isn't it one way or the other? A woman doesn't get to wear the capp anyway she wants to.

It's an okay book.
