Riya Hendrickson was just back from her around the world trip, relaxed and happy right up until she walked into her job and found the one man there who turned her world upside down; Firefighter, Cameron Liaci. Being away gave her time to move on, or so she thought. Cameron’s thought that Riya would be around when he got back to town had been a mistake. As he waited for her to return, he realizes he doesn’t ever want to let her go. It may have been a one-night stand between them but the heat is still there, he feels it and knows she does as well. Will he find a way to coax the embers back into a full fledged flame?

I always feel at a great disadvantage when I read a story about a couple with history, but I haven't been privy to that history prior to their story beginning. I wasn't invested in these characters because I didn't get to know them all that well. I know what they do, but I don't know what makes them tick.
So based upon what I've read, I don't understand why these two people wanted to be together. Specifically, why the hero felt she was the one. I don't understand why the heroine was so pissed off at the hero. He propositioned her, and she accepted and he never called. She knew of his reputation, so I'm confused as to why she thought it would be different with her. She was a one-night stand. They'd never even gone out on a date prior to or after sleeping together.
The hero is meh and the heroine is pretty abrasive and rude to him and difficult to like. So her secretly pining after him didn't make much sense to me, much like him saying that he wanted more. This story is simply too short and doesn't allow readers the time to get to know these characters or their motivations.
I believe this was the first time I have read anything by Mrs. Burke. I don't think I've read any other books/novella's of hers in this series.
I thought that Cameron and Riya were very likable characters. Especially Cameron who was determined and had his sight set on winning Riya.
Riya sure was determined to stay away from Cameron after their one night stand. She's pretty determined to never hook up with him again. But she can't really fight the attraction they have towards each other.
As I said this was a fun quick and cute read. And definitely didn't miss on the smexiness.
I'm giving this one 4 Stars out of 5!!!!
***I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book for my honest opinion***
With a unique name like Riya I knew she would be a special character. The development of her character from the beginning of the story to the end was great. Riya finally doing things for herself, after sacrificing for her mother, showed great maturation. Cameron was portrayed as the typical playboy bitten by the love bug. My only concern was that the ending seemed rushed.
Finally a story about a true strong woman who does not forgive easily even though she is still in love so yeah I smiled throughout this story and gladly recommend!!!
I really enjoyed the characters relationship, I love when the heroine isn't so easy. The hero has to work when he messed up. Cameron had to work to get her back. I would love to read more about the twins and their ladies.
Wish there was more to the story. It would have been nice if Cameron & Riyas relationship was further? did he like his new team? or better yet, was she pregnant? Do many unanswered questions
I enjoyed reading Cameron and Riya's story. This was a very short and sweet read, I would absolutely recommend reading this book. Great job as usual Aliyah Burke please keep these great cute stories coming. Thank you. 🙏
