The flame has always been smoldering.

Mase Ramirez, a firefighter with Dallas Fire and Rescue, has supported and encouraged Daisy her whole life. No matter what, she could count on him.

But what if Mase’s feelings are deeper than friendship?

An out-of-control arsonist with an obsession for Daisy suddenly ups the ante, spurring Mase to step in. Despite her belief they’re only friends, Mase has been in love with Daisy for years and when she is threatened, he refuses to waste a minute more.

With their emotions finally laid bare, will Mase and Daisy survive the looming danger? Or will the flames consume their fragile relationship?

Don't let Slow Burn fool you. It may not be overly long, but it packs quite the story into it's pages. Ripley Proserpina is a master story teller. She creates characters that you fall in love with right away. She always produces a great read.

Daisy has been in love with her best friend Mase since high school. Unfortunately he put her in the friend zone practically on day one. He was the high school football star with a long line of beautiful women lining up to date him. She was the cute, sweet, brainy girl. Now they are all grown up. Daisy is a nurse, Mase is a fireman. They are still best friends. But are they meant to be more? Do both want more? As they start to face the role they truly want the other to fill in their life, it may be too late. Daisy has a deadly stalker who may end up killing one or both of them.

This is a fast paced, multi-layered, clever, entertaining read. It's suspenseful and sexy. You will love Daisy and Mase, and find yourself holding your breath with worry for them. I loved every page of this book. If I have any complaint it would be the length, although I do believe it may have lessened the impact of the storyline to make it any longer. However, I would have enjoyed even more of Daisy and Mase and did appreciate the epilogue. Completely recommend.

A short, sweet, friends to lovers novella filled with danger and suspense.
I adore these novellas, though I usually prefer a full length novel, these are just the thing for a late night read, sitting in the dr's office or when you have just enough time on your lunch break to fit one in.
Slow Burn tells the story of firefighter Mase and his best friend Daisy. She's a nurse so they run into each other frequently at work. Best friends for years both are hiding their attraction to each other, meanwhile someone is letting Daisy know about his attraction to her just in a very unorthodox way.
When the fires the put the crew in danger all lead back to Daisy she's sent away for her own protection, but that may put her in more danger than being at home.

As I said, short an sweet but so worth a read!

It has that something extra to earn my 5 Stars!

I'm a big book kinda girl, the bigger the better, but Slow Burn delivered a dynamic story in a small package. It has it all in this friends to lovers suspense HEA novella. Mase and Daisy are well matched and what true love doesn't grow redwood strong with a the roots of friendship? I felt their pull toward each other and the sting of misunderstanding as well as the flush of hidden yearning, tempered by frustration and anxiety of the unknown. There are so many feels packed into this well written story. The descriptions of being in a fire were amazing and riding on the firetruck felt real. The attention to detail made the story come alive for me. It has some sizzling hot scenes that have nothing to do with actual fire. I wouldn't mind seeing this one expanded into a full length novel, it's that good!

While I prefer Ripley Proserpina's other books, I enjoyed reading this one. With every novella I read, I seem to have the same issue- It is not long enough for the depth and characterization that I prefer to see in a story.

I enjoyed reading about and getting to know Daisy and Mase, but I wished there was more romance, more pining. The main characters got together so quickly that the rest of the story turned into more of a suspense novel.

I feel that if this had been a full-length book and not a novella, then we, as readers, could have gotten more backstory on Daisy and Mase (which I would have loved) as well as a less predictable story.
Overall, this book was a quick read, but I wished there was more to it.

It's only novella length but it sure packs a lot of action and storyline. Normally romance can be a little rushed or insta love in novella length stories but i found it fantastic! Daisy and Mase are best friends, so they have a relationship and a past where they have all that getting to know you sorted out. And they were both so easy to love. And i was so happy when they figured it out too!

It was exciting and action packed and a little scary with the whole psycho lighting fires and causing a major creep factor. I really enjoyed reading about the Dallas firefighters and hope to read more about how Daisy and Mase are going. Also hoping more more than novella length but this was awesome!

Slow Burn by Ripley Proserpina is a friends to lovers novella that is a part of kindle worlds. I thought this was a good read and felt that Ripley had done her research on firefighters and how they operate. But I felt that the characters lacked a lot of depth and description. I wasn't really able to emotionally connect with Daisy. She came across as a weak person that couldn't stand up for herself. I wish we could have had a little more background on Daisy, I think that would have helped to understand her better. Mase was a little easier to connect with but was still lacking the depth I like in a character. I thought it was very plot driven and intriguing. It was suspenseful and action packed with a good amount of romance for the length of the novella. Still an enjoyable read.

I was amazed at just how much Ripley Proserpina was able to fit into this novella. For the first few pages I was kind of feeling like it was going to be a formulaic friends-to-lovers romance but was quickly proved wrong as it expanded so far into an action/mystery that the romance was almost secondary. The introduction of Daisy’s family sealed the deal for me – they ended up being almost my favorite element of the story (because it surprised me, not because I liked them, at least at first). I don’t know much about firefighters, nor have I read many stories that involve them, but I can say I really liked that element as well.

This is an action packed, novella-sized romance. Daisy and Mase are great together. They have been best friends since high school. Daisy has always wanted more, but was friend-zoned by Mase. Mase has begun to want more, but doesn't know how to tell her until she finds herself in danger. I loved their friendship and seeing it develop into more. Mase is protective and will do anything for Daisy, and Daisy is there for Mase, but is maintains her independence. My only I wanted more, but that was just because I wanted to hang out with Daisy and Mase more.

I voluntarily reviewed and ARC provided by the author. These are my honest opinions.

If anyone has issues with stalking, this novella is not for you. Otherwise this is an amazing work.
This story is about Daisy, a nurse, and Mase, a firefighter from Dallas' fire station 58. The two of them have been best friends since high school and secretly in love with eacht other for probably just as long. After finally admitting their feelings to eacht other it becomes more and more clear that someone is trying to catch Daisy's attention in a very dangerous way. Another great work by Ripley Proserpina and i hope she's going to write more in this wolrd.

So this author I recognized her name having read one of her other novels but since I was into this series grabbed onto hers. Even though not long it still captivates you from the beginning till the end. This centers around Mase and Daisy with Mase is the one who gave me my burn. Funny too how when drama enters the picture in life that it also brings out any hidden to light. Since Daisy and Mase go onto a different direction you will want to hang on tight till danger has passed seeing who comes out on top.

This is the perfect book to read if you want to relax, unwind and get lost in someone else’s world for a little while. Firefighting and romance is such a great combination! This novella is sexy and hot without going over the top. I can’t wait to read more of Ripley Proserpina’s work!

This was a nice short HEA read. I really like the connection that Daisy and Mase had. It was a classic story of two friends who grew up together to realize they are in love with each other. With a little dangerous suspense mixed in to keep you on your toes. If you're looking for a quick happy read then I recommend this one. This is a great novella. It's different to what I would normally read, genre wise, but it was interesting to read the detail put into the fires and the firefighters. It felt a little rushed but then as a novella, I shouldn't complain at all. It had a nice happy ending and I look forward to reading more about Firehouse 58 in the future!

Slow Burn is a fast, hot read. Daisy is a fantastic character, strong while still vulnerable, and Ripley Proserpina does a fantastic job of making me hate the bad people and love Mase! If you like firefighters, suspense, and a good love story, this is it.

The only Slow burn in this book is the time it takes Daisy and Mase to get together. Full of action and mystery, you will never guess the culprit. If you think you can take the heat come along and take a chance.

This book came together really well had enough romance and mystery to keep me satisfied. The ending brought everything together and gave closer to all the problems that happened through the book. This is a great summer read, that is hot enough without leaving you feeling burnt out!

Lots of heat, and it's not all from the fires! This novella is packed full of intrigue, firemen, and an arsonist with an agenda. The love story is passionate and...dare I say...hotter than the fires they encounter. Loved this. Another solid win from Ripley Proserpina.

This book was hot and I'm not talking about the fires! I love how the relationship blossoms between the two main character. Overall it is a good book. My only complaint is the lack of background/connection info between the arsonist and the main characters. I feel like it should have been elaborated on but otherwise it's a good book.
