Kit Morgan, aka Geralyn Beauchamp, has been writing for fun all of her life. When writing as Geralyn Beauchamp, her books are epic, adventurous, romantic fantasy at its best. When writing as Kit Morgan they are whimsical, fun, inspirational sweet and clean stories that depict a strong sense of family and community. 'His Prairie Princess' is the first of the Prairie Brides books and the first in the series of a long line of stories about Clear Creek, Oregon. One of the wackiest little towns in the old west! Get to know the townsfolk in Clear Creek and come sit a spell!
NOTE: Hi folks, it has come to my attention there is an erotica book floating around out there written under the name Kit Morgan. IT IS NOT MY BOOK! I do not, and never will, write in that genre.
Each of the Cowboys and Debutantes will read as a standalone book. The story will have the family of Effie Stout Stout in dire straits when s swindler damages her father’s business and the reputation of the Stout family. From one day being a social butterfly debutant to the family being destitute and now Effie has been ostracized. Her stepmother makes plans for her, and her sisters are to make matches as mail-ordered brides and to send them westward.
Effie will travel from New York to Oregon to become the bride of a hog farmer, Forrest Lang, near the town of Baker City. The homestead is hours away from town, and the nearest neighbor will be five miles away, which takes an hour by wagon. Forrest wanted a wife, a helper, and someone to share his life, and what he gets is a woman who can’t cook, clean, sew, and hasn’t a clue how to do anything useful on a farm. “Well, Miss Deb-U-Taunt, whatever that is, you’re gonna hafta work now.”
The plot will Effie in for a rude awakening of life on a farm with physical labor. She finds herself married and out of her elements. “They were such opposites, but they were going to have to learn to deal with each other. And she was going to have to learn to deal with reality.” Forrest is not happy with her attitude and lack of household skills. “She was selfish, stubborn, snobbish, spoiled and probably spiteful when she wanted to be. Maybe a few other S-words as well.” With the help of their neighbor, Alice, and their friendship, Effie will slowly learn some skills. Can she prove to her husband that he did get a helpmeet in his mail-order bride? In spite of the hardship that befell her family, and change in her social status, Effie became richer with true friends and a loving husband.
I was in the mood for a cowboy type book, but not one that was modern day. I was never one for the mail order bride genre but Effie sounded good when I read the synopsis. I was not disappointed. There were no gratuitous sex scenes which was nice because I was in the mood for a feel good, happily ever after story. I really enjoyed the way that the characters were portrayed. You could have easily disliked Effie, but I felt for her. The book is a quick read and isn't bogged down with unnecessary description or dialogue. I would have liked to know what happened with Alice and her husband and some of the other characters, but this wasn't their story to tell obviously. All in all, I really enjoyed this book, and would highly recommend it. I'm going to need to find more Kit Morgan books!!
Effie is a New York debutante, Forrest is a hog farmer in Oregon. Fate will throw them together after tragedy strikes Effie's family. When Effie arrives in Oregon as a mail order bride, Forrest isn't sure what he's gotten. Effie can't cook, can't see, and doesn't know anything about slopping hogs. Effie isn't too pleased that she'll be living in two room cabin and learns that not only will they not be making regular trips into town, but their nearest neighbor lives five miles away. Will these two opposites attract or will Effie find a way to go back home? The book is filled with humor, angst, and love. I quite enjoyed it.
And they make a good life together. Hard to imagine the choices mail order brides had to make, but one has to wonder how many were not to live happily ever after. Fortunately, Effie learns quickly how to best help her husband carve out a life together in the western town where she lands after being turned out by her bankrupt father in New York. How she and her husband bond makes a very nice sweet read. I got this book in a mass giveaway, and am reviewing it in hope others will also enjoy it.
I was looking for a good mail order bride series and decided to give this one a shot. It is a little different because the books are written by different authors. This review is for books one and two. We have a couple of brothers that lose everything and as a result their daughters have to find husbands quick. The first book deals with Effie a girl that really had no idea how to do anything but ends up finding love. I am looking forward to next one.
What a great book on being humble and how anyone can change.. Blessing me more than you know.. Couldn't put it down.. Loved the story ..I would highly recommend this book to all my friends. Good characters a believable storyline and great writing looking forward to more in this series Kit Morgan has a great writing style if you haven't tried any of her books you should
Story was interesting. It was a quick read. The moral was very good and well done. The writing was okay, but not great. The story was a tad choppy in places. But over all it was a good read and worth a short amount of your time.
Lots of good reading here. Very enjoyable. A fall from riches can't be easy for the rich. But if you are born poor you can appreciate what you do have and be happy.
This was a sweet, clean, and humorous story. I love how Effie adapted to her new life and learned to enjoy and respect it. My only wish is that there had been an epilogue.
She’s a spoiled NYC debutant. Her dad loses all his money and her stepmother sends her off as a mailorder bride. She can’t cook, clean, sew or do chores for her new hog farmer husband, but with love they learn.
The story was a bit short, even more character development would help with that. I enjoyed the humor of Effie learning new values and the common sense tenderness and willingness of the couple to patiently work toward goals.
Have you ever the about traveling across country to marry a person you never met ? To me it's very scary. The mail order brides were the strongest women's of their time . I loved the book.
A sweet romance complete with mail order brides, lost fortunes, cross country trips, misunderstanding and Romance. A spoiled city girl met her match in an unlikely way...
Kit Morgan teaches you in this story just what is really important. Effie, the New York socialite, learns in a hurry what it means to be just the opposite of everything she has ever been when she becomes a mail order bride. Clean Read.
Effie thought she was better than moist until her world changed dramatically. She became a mail order bride. What a great start to a new series. Fantastic!
I love Kit's books and this one did not disappoint! Great storyline and characters. I look forward to more in the series and already have the next one downloaded!
The story was very sweet, yet full of lessons in life. Effie learned humility, trust, friendship and the value of real life. I loved it. She made me laugh and get emotional.
So Kit Morgan is the author that I stumbled across last year that introduced me to the whole mail order bride/western historical romance/kindle book thing. I have loved everything that I've read by her and this is no different. A very good introduction to a new series, I look forward to reading more books about the other sisters and cousins. I just don't think you can go wrong with Kit Morgan.
It was the best thing her Step Mom could have done , is sign her up as a Mail Order Bride The story told how she learned to care about other people instead of just her self.
