In this genre blending epic, science fiction coincides with vivid storytelling of high-fantasy, detailing a remarkable narrative of a world at the brink of war.

Conquerors of Nimeya is the first book in the Conquerors of Nimeya Saga. Book 2 is set to arrive Spring 2018.
So about me... I'm a reader and a writer, loved both since as far as I can remember. I penned two self pub books back in 2017-18 (not the greatest first attempt, but you gotta start from somewhere lol).
I lean mostly on the science fiction/fantasy realm, and am quick to get into books written by first time authors. I love supporting new authors and watching them grow in their craft, there is always something new to learn from these authors, for they offer their own voice and experience in the craft.
People sometimes ask me what's my favorite book and I always tell them the Bible. I'm not the most poise person (truth be told, I've yet to truly read the Bible). But I say this because the Bible--even if you don't believe or not--is truly the most significant written work, ever created. Now I do have favorite genres and fantasy and science fiction will always take the cake for me. I dabble in YA too.
Full disclosure: I won a free Kindle copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway.
I got this for free, but it still wasn't worth it.
I gave up somewhere around the 2% mark because the spelling errors were driving me crazy. If you can't be arsed to copyedit your book, I’m certainly not going to bother to read it. Give me a call when it's actually finished, as opposed to what seems to be the first draft that I'm reading. Or, rather, tried to read.
Something of a steampunk fantasy. There's a bunch of different fantasy species. They're all oppressed by the human empire, and there's a revolt.
Tries to take an epic scope, but only two of the characters have interesting narratives, and I wanted to skip the rest. I think the author is trying too hard to make a point.
Living in a world amongst other types of creatures seems to be the norm until those species become part of reasons why destruction exists. But what choices do you have, other than surviving whatever life throws your way? Duncan Shay and his crew spend their life sailing and portraying delivery of goods in exchange for large sums of money. Although not the best-suited livelihood, they manage to survive this long taking care of their loved ones they barely get to see. In their line of work, often times the tasks are simple, while the journey could be the most difficult of travels on roaring seas, but they manage every single time. It was until a particular group of individuals tried to take out one of the two head bosses running the operations, where everything went into full survival mode. Now the crew is on a suicidal mission while their loved ones’ lives are hanging in the balance, would they make it out alive and keep their family and friends safe?
In “Conquerors of Nimeya,” author Kelvin S. Douglas leads his readers on a journey in what is similar to a playwright, setting up the scenery with different acts to separate them. Duncan and his crew are truly heroes in their own right, as they have done their absolute best to keep their personal lives far from their work. Unfortunately, their bosses found out about their loved ones and using them as blackmail so they can handle a job that maybe impossible and borderline suicidal. These men have no choice but to do all that they can to ensure the safety of their loved ones, while at the same time being determined they too will survive this task. This shows bravery and strength, that they are ready and willing to sacrifice themselves if it would grant the survival of their family and friends. To me, their actions are commendable even though it’s a terrible predicament they are in.
I enjoyed reading this book, learning about the imagination of the author, and experiencing the intense feeling of each character as a witness through their perspectives. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy characters and wanting to experience life in another world.

I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway - my first time winning an ebook, and I was very excited to read it. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this book to anyone. I truly hope my experience with the Kindle version of this book does not apply to the physical version - there were so many typos and poorly constructed sentences that I was constantly rewriting the entire novel in my head just to get through it. I want to believe that the errors and inconsistencies are all the result of a text recognition program not functioning correctly - that the conversion from book to ebook just didn't go well - which made this book nearly impossible to read. Don't get me wrong - several of errors were amusing (my favorite was the word "upholstered" replacing every instance on "unholstered" in this 500+ page novel), but I will definitely not be reading the sequel and can only give this book 1 star.
First off I want to begin by stating I won the opportunity to read this book via a Goodreads giveaway.
I started out enjoying the beginning and I think the world building and many descriptions are really great throughout the book! After a few pages I started noticing a few awkward sentences and typos. Soon I was cringing and losing interest in what was attempted to be conveyed because these things were very distracting. I did press on very slowly and I do believe there is an interesting story in here. I just had a very difficult time looking beyond the awkward parts and I feel this book could use some heavy handed editing to bring out the story in a much more clear way. As it stands I found the book a very difficult read and would not recommend.
Smugglers find a stowaway. A crime boss sides with terrorists that aren't really terrorists, even though it divides his organization. The crime boss threatens the smugglers families if they don't transport someone tied to all the political stuff. Out of nowhere, a woman has to sit at the back of the bus. I do not like reading about politics, even stuff I agree with, and I would have passed on this book if I had known. I also don't like being told how I should feel about something. I could barely keep the characters straight--I think Duncan was the hero-- and I have no idea who all the different races/peoples/ethnicities or whatever they were. The timeline jumped around so much; each section was a reset. DNF 27%
Very good world building introducing a some what different type of world like ours with an unique twist. A variety of cultures and races inhabiting the planet. The only negative criticism I can offer is the ending. I thought it dragged a little but that's my opinion and others may not feel the same and it did not take away from the the overall creative imagination the author has displayed. I am definitely looking forward to part 2. Anyone interested in solid world building & persona with unique abilities in fantasy fiction will enjoy this book. I most definitely did. 4.5 stars for this freshman effort.
Nice effort at a fantasy alternate world universe tale. Good character development, strong storyline, could be quite engaging. Except... this book needs an editor who actually speaks English. The errors overwhelm the story, the grammatical glitches change the intent, and an endless chain of poorly chosen words, or just flat out inappropriate uses makes Nimeya read like it was written by a Russian high schooler with no English other than Google Translate. I would strongly suggest reading it again when it's been edited, it will make a fine story when done correctly.
While this book had a great storyline, it certainly wasn't edited well. It gets 3 stars just because of how annoyed I was with spelling and grammatical errors (mostly grammatical errors). Seems as though while it went through spell check, no one checked to be sure that the words were corrected to the right word. If you can overlook that, it is a great book. Characters have great development, argue I personally found myself invested in them.
Very good at world building. Felt bogged down a few times, but held interest until the end. Not sure how that I am going on to book 2. Not a fan of multi volume stories unless they are truly exceptional. Perhaps I'll come back in the future and try the next.
Received a complementary copy via #GoodreadsGiveaway.
At some point in the future, I may try this again but in print format. The Kindle version is mangled to the point of distraction; add this to the slow pace of the story, I find myself skimming through paragraphs rather than actually immersing myself in the story and characters. For now, it will remain one of the few unfinished books in my collection.
