I read this book and filled out the questions for my history lessons this year. It's chapters and every chapter has one person to talk about. There were 21 people total.

The first person was Christopher Columbus. He was a sailor who discovered the New World, better known as America. He was okay.

The second person was John Smith. He was a Captain that Pocahontas saved from dying. He was okay.

The third person was Pocahontas. She was the princess of an Indian Tribe. She helped bring peace between the Indians and the White men. She was amazing.

The fourth person was Miles Standish. He brought people to America on the Mayflower. They were called Puritans. They came to America because they wanted to be away from the King of England. He would not let them worship God the way that they wanted to. Miles Standish was cool.

The fifth person was Squanto. He was an Indian. He and the white men invented the incredible Thanksgiving. He taught the people to put fish with their plants to help the plants to grow. Like milk for a baby. He was fine.

The sixth person was William Penn. The state of Pennsylvania was named after him. It means "Penn's Forest". He was a Quaker. Quakers held meetings and gave stuff to people who were in prison. He was brave.

The seventh person was Benjamin Franklin. He had a whistle when he was little. He discovered electricity. He did it with a key and a kite and a _stormy night_. He also had a printing press. He was good.

The eighth person was George Washington. He was the first president of the United States of America. Right now, our president is President Donald Trump. I think that Trump and Washington would have gotten along fine because they are both men.

The ninth person was Thomas Jefferson. He wrote the Declaration of _Independence_. This was important because it told the King of England that we were our own country. Thomas Jefferson was grumpy.

The tenth person was Daniel Boone. He was like an Indian. He liked to sneak up on his sister because the indians taught him to be as quiet as a cat. Later, when he was a grown-up, he could hunt animals and fought in the French and Indian War. He wore buckskins. I think that would feel scratchy!

The eleventh person was Noah Webster. He wrote a dictionary. I don't like dictionaries because it's hard to find stuff. If I wrote a dictionary I would try to memorize every word so I wouldn't have to go to it every day.

The twelfth person was John Greenleaf Whittier. He was a Poet. He wrote poetry. I kind of like poetry. I like jazzy poetry but not jazzy clothes.

The thirteenth person was Robert E. Lee. He was the President of the South during the Civil War. The American Civil War lasted about 4 years. The people were fighting because the North didn't want to own slaves and the South did. The South didn't want to be told what to do. Our family a long time ago, came from Kentucky and they fought on both sides. I think war is bad because people die.

The fourteenth person was Abraham Lincoln. He was very brainy. He was another president. When he was president a girl asked if he grew whiskers. He was President of the United States during the American Civil War. He did a fine job as President. I think that He and President Trump would get along because they both made/make big changes.

The fifteenth person was Clara Barton. She was a nurse during the War. She was known to the soldiers as "the Angel of the Battlefield." She was a hard worker. I like hard workers partly because I sometimes am also a hard worker.

The sixteenth person was Ulysses S. Grant. He was on the North's side. He was smart about battles. He was also a President.

The seventeenth person was Louisa May Alcott. She was a writer. She wrote the series "Little Women". She also wrote the book "Little Men'. I have not read her books yet but I've seen them. Someone made the book into a movie. I liked her a lot.

The eighteenth person was George Washington Carver. He loved plants, even though his mother was kidnapped. He was not a lazy person. He had a secret place in the woods. He said " I could do that" and made knitting needles out of turkey feathers. He was really smart. He was called a plant doctor when a neighbor needed help with sick plants. The plant he liked the most was peanuts. He found 300 ways to use the peanut. My favorite way to use a peanut is roasted in the shell and eating it.

The nineteenth person Booker T. Washington. I don't remember much about him.

The twentieth person was Laura Ingalls Wilder. She was a writer. She was my favorite because she wrote "The Little House on the Prairie" series. I like this series. I've read a lot of the books. She was fun!

The last person in this book Billy Sunday. He was a Missionary. He went from place to place to preach about God to people. The type of thing I liked about him is that he was talking with his friends who loved to play baseball and said that baseball is like the game of life and that when you reach home plate the umpire can call you "safe" or "out". I thought this was interesting. I think that Billy Sunday and our Pastor would get along because they both believe in God.

I would tell others to use this for history. It's good for learning and even though I'm only a 2nd grader, it was only medium-hard for me. I kind of liked answering the questions but they took a long time to find the right answers.
