I'm a Dom. She's a Virgin. But not for long. Living life as a recluse, I’ve quietly built my wealth under the radar of public attention. Then I followed my dream and created the New York Beasts, a bunch of MLB misfits who just won the f’ing World Series. I’m not under the radar now. In fact, everyone wants a piece of me.
How the hell I allowed myself to be part of a reality show, I’ll never know. But here I am, facing nine single women who see only two things — fresh man meat and big dollar signs.
Except her.
Beautiful, young, innocent Emery Rose didn’t plan on being here either. She’s flown under the radar too. But that won’t stop me from hunting her. Or from her hunting me.
She doesn’t know what she’s in for. Yeah, I might be the Beasts' Daddy, but the real beast is me.

DON'T LET THE TITLE STOP YOU FROM READING THIS STORY!!
I am shocked that I almost passed up reading this story. I don't usually like BDMS stories. They are a bridge to far for me. But The Dom vs. The Virgin was enthralling. At first I didn't think I would finish it but I keep going and about 10% read I couldn't stop reading and I loved it. There is a mild Dom Submissive scene but it wasn't raunchy or over the top nasty sex. The sex scenes are well written and Sensual but I have read stories that were more erotic and sensual then this one.
I loved Rhett and Emery the H/H of the story. They both had very bad horrible childhoods. Bad to the extreme and both were very lonely children. These two didn't let there childhoods stop who they would become. Rhett is a billionaire Baseball team owner and a Inventor. Emery is less fortunate in her jobs, but is a hard worker that survives and overcomes. They are so well written. The secondary characters are also developed and well written. You could almost be in the story watching all this play out.
Don't let the authors choice of book covers and titles of her books turn you off or away from reading her books!!! So far I have really enjoyed her stories and read them straight through. I am glad I gave her books a chance. I Highly Recommend you read The Dom vs. The Virgins and The Hunt. These two books are Stand Alones and not in the same series.
This was 100% not what I was expecting at all from the blurb and the cover but that turned out to be a really great thing! When one reads the title they wouldn't expect the emotions that are brought up in this book. Nana had me laughing out loud, the home visit had me bawling and the story as a whole was so much more... I just wish I had read the rest of the series first, just to have more background info...
Emery Rose has lived a secret life that has just been exposed, her NFL boyfriend has been killed is a gay club. Emery protected his secret all through school and now everyone knew. His family took everything and now she have to go back home to the small town on his anniversary and face the town and her father, she is broke and has no money. Emery is remember as stinky Emery because her father is a hoarder that won't let go of his past. Now she gets a call from a reality show to work as an assistant and maybe her life just took a turn.
Rhett Hamilton is a loner a Dom and getting bored with woman he is usually attracted to. He is smart own/write several patents and is a self made billionaire. He has been under radar until he bought a MLF team and they won the World Series. Now I'm being approached to do a reality show by CEO of Infinity and we would name it "The Biggest Catch" it will be 9 women as in 9 indings each woman would strike out/be ejected out of the game until last one is standing. The Beast/team & Nana was thrilled and Rhett wanted nothing to do with it, however he was soon talked into it.
They are filming reality show at Rhett's estate and the production crew and cast are all staying also. I meet an contestant in the gym but she seemed sad, and innocent and she has turned me down which never happens because I take what I want and now I have my eyes set on her. The next morning when I meet all 9 woman I don't see Ms innocent until an contestant drops out and we are forced to find another contestant. I suggest Emery and they have minutes to turn her into a beauty before filming resume. When filming restarts 15 mins later she is a knock out and now I have to decide if I will eject Emery off, which is what the production wants or will I let Nana and my Dom side keep her fighting for my attention? This book was very surprising the name doesn't do it justice a great read!!!
Alice Ward has produced another fantastic book which will take you on a spicy and steamy roller coaster of a romantic ride called “The Dom vs The Virgin”. This is Rhett’s story ( he is the owner of the New York Beasts) and what a story it is. Rhett is the team’s owner and he is really a reclusive guy. Rhett ends up falling into a TV deal to be a 'tv bachelor' in the hopes of promoting his beloved team, New York Beasts. Rhett goes into this not realizing his whole life will change because he will meet the love of his life when he goes to do this show. Rhett is a dominant, sexual type being who is so charming and alluring yet there is a part of him that is fragile and that part he rarely lets show but it’s there . Emery is a shy and private woman who comes from a small town that was quite mean to her because of who her family was and also because of an explosive secret she kept about her best friend who had passed away. When she first met Rhett, there was this instant attraction and chemistry between them. Emery worked behind the scenes of the TV show then is picked to be a replacement when one of the girl's vying for Rhett needs to leave. Things between the two heat up. As things heat up between the two, there are secrets of Rhett that he has done so much to keep hidden, even changed his name to keep his past a secret for his past has really haunted him. Yet Emery has been able to help Rhett look at things differently and open up. Will Rhett and Emery be able to have a future or will secrets and the past come between them and bring the Dom to his knees? This is one emotional, gripping, sexually charged romance that you definitely need to read.
My Rating: 4.5 stars ***** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
I've enjoyed this first story. I have bought the book that has the rest of the series at the end, which I must admit I have still to read. But for me this first story was so really nice, that I'm not sure I'm ready to read the story of the whole beast baseball team. I'm not sure without reading the bonus features, but I feel like I'm reading the end of the book back over. To have such a tragic story, of Rhett who's a billionaire and owns his own baseball team, meet Reg love of his dreams through a TV game show, unusual storyline, but I did enjoy. The story starts off with Emery having a very hard time after loosing her best friend, who she covered for, as he was gay. What a bigot reaction to a life choice, but so well written by the author. Mental health issues were covered in Emery's story as well, such pain and redicule, but such a lovely outcome, for her. I just hope her farther got help, a hoarder due to tremendous loss, but as a child Emery had clearly suffered. Again two weaker figures, affected by life's difficult circumstances and yet they find each other and come out on top. Bit corny but sometimes needed. I understand the need for a person to write everything down, so they can reflect, but to leave such deep thoughts around for all to see, I did think this was out of character. I would have thought she (Emery)would constantly move her journal to her room. I like that the author had written this book from both characters perspective, but I was dissappointed that the first love making, of a virgin was not made more of. Considering the title of the book, I felt this was skipped over. It was there and then gone. Nothing really made of it. But on the whole this is a light easy read. Makes you feel good, warm and fuzzy. I loved the nana character, she did bring a smile to my face, a trypical interfering old lady, who knew best for all, except herself. If you like BDSM as this is advertised, this is very BDSM light. Tame to some BDSM books I read. This is more of a love story rather than a BDSM. It's more Dom and Sub and even then light. Good book that I would return to, but wishing I'd read the others first, as I dint feel the need to read the rest, but will give them a go later
This states that you can read this book as a standalone and no need to read the previous books. I'm not sure I'd agree with this. There are many characters introduced in this book, which clearly had important or influence on the main character. Liked the premise of this book. Started out great but fizzled out for me.
I enjoyed reading The Dom vs. The Virgin. The story was entertaining and engaging. Emery’s world came crashing down when her best friend and confidant was killed at a night club. She is now trying to pick up the pieces of her life and trying to figure out if moving back to her childhood home, a place that holds some good and some very painful memories, was something she could do. When a lucky call comes in offering her a job as part of the crew of a reality dating show, she jumps at it. Rhett is the owner of the Beasts baseball team. He has worked hard to get where is he and revels in his reclusive life. It seems that now that his team has won the World Series, things are starting to change. Every one of his top players are getting married and having babies and he is being pulled into their lives since they are “gulp” family.
Rhett is a Dom and the member of a BDSM club, he needs to be in control at all times. When he reluctantly agrees to be a part of The Biggest Catch, a dating reality show, he is determined that the show would not impact his life. He'll do his part and retain control of anything that would affect him. Then he meets Emery, and that control is now tenuous because he is drawn to this woman who seem to fighting painful demons...something he could relate to. Their first meeting was hot and funny. Rhett is very drawn to her and is determined to make her submit to his control. Getting to know Emery opened Rhett up in ways he didn’t think possible. When he reveals his dark secret, will she stay with him or run away. The story worked for me and the secondary characters are a hoot, especially Nana Steele (I love it when she smacks his hand when he cusses and when she says what’s on her mind…no filtering….very funny stuff).
While I thoroughly enjoyed the story, there are a few things that I didn’t like. The fact that Emery writes her deepest thoughts and secrets in her journal was great but why was she so careless with ensuring that it was put away safely and securely. When information from her journal was leaked to the press, there was barely any mention of her being sorry, it just seemed like an “Oh well” shrug to the incident. Also, the premise of the book is that Rhett was a major Dom in the BDSM scene, but while the scenes of BDSM was there, it was quite tame compared to the buildup. Aside for this, the story was good, the writing impeccable, the characters well developed and HEA was well worth the read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Super sexy, emotionally raw, a bit cheesy, and completely enjoyable. I really liked this book. At almost the end of the book things were a bit over the top with a cheesy emotional scene for the show finale, but what "reality" tv show doesn't, right? I didn't enjoy that part, but I don't think I'd vote to remove it either. There were more confessions in this book than I've read in any other and it gave the last half of the book more of a daytime tv show feeling rather than a romance with tv show elements added.
The MC's were emotionally taxing individuals but felt really right together. I enjoyed the play off of one another but I expected and didn't get (meaning receive, not understand) any of the freeing punishment Emery needed to replace what she does in the gym. That would have made things come together and made what Rhett offered and needed pair perfectly with what she didn't know she craved. One line mention of her not being in control isn't enough here. Aside from that, they match well and I think they're a solid couple.
The side characters were both frustrating and charming in equal measure. You have the catty women that seem to have nothing better to do than be catty women, and then you have absolute gems of human beings like Nana and Juliette. Amy too, I suppose, but as nice as she was, I kind of didn't care about her except that she was nice to Emery and then later for her connection to Rhett. All in all, a solid cast.
Like I mentioned before, there's a lot of drama in this one. Well, to be honest, there's a lot of drama in each of the books of the series (and really it's how Alice writes) so it was kind of expected, just not how everything played out. Meaning I knew there was going to be something big as an obstacle for the mains but what it was and how it was resolved was not expected or predictable. Again, this one was a bit over the top and felt like it was trying to make it really big because it's the last of the series (hints for more of the players are there but if it ended here it would be understandable). It felt a bit too dramatic for me. Like I said, more soap opera here instead of being a bit more removed like Lights, Camera, Kisses managed to do.
Overall, I liked the book a ton and more than willingly leave an authentic review of the ARC I got from both the author and Hidden Gems.
Another great book by Alice Ward. Emery is a young woman in her early twenties hasn’t always had an easy life so far. When she was born, her mother died during child birth on the side of the road. The paramedics couldn’t save them both. After this happened, her father was never the same. This left her 7 year old sister and Emery for him to take are of and as they got older, he mentally kept getting worse. He became a hoarder to the point where roaches, bugs, garbage among other items littered their house growing up and to this day. Emery was always made fun of during school and around town. When Ryan came to town, he saved her. They became best friends and saved each other in so many different ways. When Ryan was drafted to the NFL, life for them was good, they lived in New York and had a nice apartment. The night Ryan died, Emery’s life changed forever. Rhett is the owner of The Beasts MLB baseball team. They just won the World Series so life is good. When he is approached to do a reality tv show he really isn’t interested because he likes his life the way it is. His private life is private. When he is talked into do this show from some of his players and “family”, he doesn’t expect to meet someone he is undeniably attracted to. He doesn’t believe in love or happily ever after. He hasn’t had the easiest life growing up and has made something of himself due to this. He also likes the BDSM lifestyle in the bedroom. They will be taping at his “country home” so when he shows up there a day early and goes to his private gym and sees her, he just wants to get closer. This is the first time he sees Emery. He is hoping she is on the show but when he finds out she works for the show, he still wants her. When one thing leads to another and one of the contestants leaves the show for actual love, they need someone to step in. What will happen next? Will Emery and Rhett finally meet and get to know each other? Can people who have hidden their real selves find happiness? Since I’m not that reviewer that is going to tell you the whole story, you are going to have to pick up the book to find out what happens. I can tell you that it’s a great story, very well written, the characters are ones you will love and the storyline is realistic and very enjoyable. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's review of this book but will be buying it for myself as well. Enjoy
This is a beautifully written story of two broken souls who recognize the pain and loss within each other, finding a kindred spirit, and after long last, learn to open their hearts and find solace and healing.
Rhett Hamilton and Emily Rose have more in common than they think. On the surface, he’s a billionaire owner of the newly-minted World series winners, The Beasts. She’s a production assistant barely eking out a living after her world is upended by tragic loss. What Rhett and Emily have in common is that they share equally painful and crushing family secrets.
In the lime light of of his team winning the World series, Rhett is persuaded to do a reality show called The Biggest Catch where nine contestants attempt to win his affections. Rhett doesn’t do love or relationships and he makes that understood, so the winner gets cash and a two week vacation with him. With a last minute change, Emily is thrown into the mix to substitute as a contestant. Emily and Rhett at first dance around their attraction, both wary. With each encounter Rhett finds Emily more intriguing and different from the other women. And as Rhett is a dominant, he takes meticulous care Emily trust him with her consent in everything. These two have real chemistry and the heat level is off the charts, oh so good.
I love Ms. Ward’s writing style, and the seamless flow of words that make this story a hit. She fills it with wonderful endearing characters, emotional depth, and surprising revelations. There is so much more I can say about the plot, but it needs to be experienced. There is a scene when Emily is at the cemetery her mother and best friend, Ryan, are buried. She begins to explain to the camera audience about her painful childhood, the loss of her mother and a beloved friend, and the subsequent reality of how her father copes with the loss of his wife. It was a pivotal scene for me and pure heartache to read about Emily’s struggle. My heart hurt for her. But I also enjoyed Nana Steele, the funny, spirited matriarch of Steele Industries. A wonderful job, Ms. Ward. I highly recommend this book for all fans of romance.
I received and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Boy oh boy has Alice Ward produced another fantastic book and I have to say this one by far left me sad that this is the end of a the brilliant Beast of Baseball series but oh so grateful she left it on such a high note! This one is a bit more of a complete standalone than the others in the series and revolves around Rhett the teams owner who although we have met him in the previous books, has been a reclusive 'member' of the team.
Like the others in the series this is able to be read completely separately and this one especially deals more with Rhett and his fall into a deal to be a 'tv bachelor' in the hopes of promoting his beloved team, New York Beasts . Little does this reclusive man realise, he is about to fall head over heels for Emery, a woman so far out of left field that the unavoidable sparks between them leaves them both puzzled and unable to think clearly. I LOVED Rhett and felt such compassion for him and is battle with nature vs nurture. At times I simply wanted to hold him close and tell him his feelings were normal while at others I wanted to scream at him for pushing away such a loveable and open woman he found in Emery.
Emery was such a loyal and kind character who simply wanted to live her life and find someone who could love her. She unexpectedly falls into a spot in the production and from here the battle between what the heart wants and what the mind is willing begins. The banter between Emery and Rhett was brilliant. I loved the silliness and the genuine love and honesty expressed between them and that it was this that enabled them to traverse the pitfalls that befell them.
I read this in one sitting and instantly bought it after its release. It's quite simply one of those books I will go to time and again and enjoy it as much as the first time I read it. Alice Ward is such a talented story teller and her abilities to carry us through her tale and have us as readers develop bonds to her characters marks her out as an extremely talented romance writer. I simply can't wait to see where she takes us next, but I know it will be ace!
This series has defiantly been a home run!

The Dom vs The Virgin; sounds like it's gonna be a sizzling read, doesn't it? Let me assure you that this book has some of the hottest steam I've read this year.
I’d find little Emery Lillian Rose again.
These might not be glass slippers.
But this wasn’t a fairy tale.
And I wasn’t a prince.
I was drawn in by the idea of a dom with a virgin, kinda like throwing a sheep to the wolf. But ultimately, what really blew me away was the emotional aspect to the book. I found myself on the verge of tears a couple of times. I was awed by the connection that Rhett and Emery shared. The characters felt so real, genuine and flawed that I loved them immediately. I absolutely love the built up of their relationship, being able to see their fears and them facing their fears.
Rhett was dominant, charming and has that fragility to him as well. He's flawed but perfect. Emery is definitely a girl I'd like to be friends with, she's strong yet has this fragility about her. I kinda wished I could see the girls who dissed her get their ass handed back to them.
“My dear, accepting someone just as they are is one of the greatest gifts you can give that person. It might not change the world, but it changes their world. If you do that often enough and to enough people, the ripple effect will go farther than you’ll ever know.”
One character I loved to pieces is Nana and her little bits of wisdom thrown in. She's a firecracker, her insults crack me up.
Nana’s eyes stayed on mine. “There are some people you meet that you connect with, isn’t that right, Emery?”
Tears burned my nose. “Yes. Without explanation.”
The wise eyes didn’t even flicker. “And when you’re brave enough, you open yourself to that person, releasing all worry about the future. Sometimes, it works out. Sometimes, you leave disappointed. But every time, you learn and grow, and that person becomes a gift.”
Definitely a new favourite of mine! Now, pardon me while I get caught up with Alice Ward's other books.
A slow burn romance that brings the heat! He's a dominant, she's a virgin. He's about to teach her how he likes it in the bedroom, but she's going to show him that love is real and unconditional.
Emery is a small town girl from West Virginia. She has not had an easy life and likes to keep her past private. She's been left in a situation where she's struggling to get by and then she gets a phone call that will change everything.
She's now working in production on a new reality show. It's featuring the world's most eligible bachelor Rhett Hamilton, owner of the NY Beasts. Rhett is the elusive owner. Often seen with a different woman on his arm, but other than that and his success as an adult, his past is a mystery.
Rhett is not really interested in doing the reality show, but since publicity is great for his team, he agrees. He is an intensely private man and plans on keeping it that way. Rhett is all about control. He likes a woman who can submit to him in the bedroom. He's never believed in love and is really only looking to have some fun.
When Rhett and Emery meet, sparks fly! He is intense, but Emery does not back down. He wants her and has no problems making advances. Emery definitely feels the attraction, but is doing her best to resist because she really needs her job. Until, resisting just isn't an option because not being with Rhett is worth all the risks. However, to really be together, both of them will have to open up and be honest about where they come from.
I was hoping that book five would finally bring us Rhett's story and it did not disappoint. This story was full of heat and intense chemistry, as well as twists I ever saw coming. I loved all of these storylines because each one touched on pertinent issues we hear about every day. A great series full of hot sex, sexy ball players and dirty mouths.
Wow...wow..wow...Alice Ward does it again with another book worth more than 5 stars and this time we finally get Rhett's story, the owner of the Beasts. He is a private man and when he gets bulldozed into doing a reality show that can be described as a speed dating contest he doesn't expect to make any connections until he meets Emery. Emery is also a private woman and comes from a small town that was cruel to her because of who her father was and then because of a secret she kept about her best friend who had passed away. When they first meet the attraction is there and when she is picked to be a replacement when one of the girl's leave, things heat up between the two. Rhett has a secret that has haunted him for years and even changed his name to keep his past a secret, Emery is the only one who he has opened up to it and it only makes their connection stronger. A great story that may have you shed a few tears, the steamy steamy scenes that will melt the ice in your water that you will need to drink, laugh or chuckle at some of the antics the girls will do to vye for his attention, and of course Nana who you can't help but want her as your grandma. The author did an amazing job of writing the chemistry between these two that is jumps off the pages at you and I loved Emery from the beginning she was a strong woman and refused to lash out or belittle others even though they were doing it to her, she was kind and had compassion and didn't stoop to their level. I also fell in love with Rhett, even though he was all alpha he was still compassionate and wasn't afraid to show his feelings especially when telling his story to Emery.....highly recommended read!! *I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book*

I received this book for Free to Give My True & Honest Review
Oh my what a blinking great book. The writing as is the storyline is fantastic. Oh my though the story of these individual characters are heartbreaking all in their own right. And if you love The Bachelor you'll really like this kinda spin off setting of the tv show. But I can honestly say I had tears coming down in a few different areas, from when we see at the very start & we meet the main heroine of the book, Emery Rose & how things change just at the perfect timing for her in her life. Till when the devastating handsome & multimillionaire Dominant Rhett Hamilton whose 'The Catch' has this connection from the off set with Every when he see's her when she was actually working for the show, well that was until from the off set 1 of the contestant's left & they needed to have sometime step in & that's how Emery gets pulled in when the great character of 'Nana Steel' whose the grandmother of 1 of Rhett's Baseball Team's grandmother, but treats Rhett like a grandchild which he cherishes as he never had any grandparents & oh she's a little minx, but a very good discreet matchmaker 😚😚😚 Really it's after a very DEEP, DEEP honesty when we hear his life story that the tears come one again. Then again 2 more time towards the end of the book. Then other times you'd want to smack a couple of these nasty, money grabbing b**ches lol. But then there's a couple of the women who were kind hearted & warming ladies who found connections with other of the males around Rhett, which then helps bring down the numbers easier until the final 2 where something comes out, out of the blue from a media release.. So if you love, EMOTIONAL LOVE STORIES with HEA & yes a little BDSM thrown in, thus is one for you. Recommend completely
Emery has grown up with a hard life a life with a single father and a older sibling but no mother as she passed away when she was being born. Emery grew up being made fun of and no close friends until a boy moved into town and she finally had her confidant in her life, one she would always have a cherish until the moment he was taken away from her and once again she was back to square one. Rhett the owner of the Beasts Team and a man who had plenty of dark secrets as to why he never let anyone close will finally find someone who he wants it all with but wonders how much he can trust her.
What I enjoyed most about The Don vs. The Virgin is watching two people who have a hard time letting people in and the whole trust thing seem to hit it off pretty quickly but not sure how the other would take the honest truth of their youth. Seeing Emery find in Rhett that she has never felt before but wondering how he would ever except her past, watching Rhett always ask for permission as to always make her comfortable and not push her away. Seeing both of them fall for the other and wondering if it will last or fizzle out once the Reality Show is finished.
This book was great, but anything I have ever read by Alice Ward I have given 5 Stars to. This story has Emery a woman who has to move out of her place in NYC as without her best friend there to help out she cant afford it so she takes on a job on a Reality Show that ends in her being one of the Contestants, Rhett not wanting to do the Show but signs up for it without the thought of actually finding a Woman to settle down with or to ever really have feelings for finally meets his match in Emery, a love story. If you like stories like this, then The Don vs. The Virgin is a must!
Rhett is a billionaire who owns hundreds of patents and started his own MLB team. He used to live in obscurity but now his team has won the world series he is a major catch. He is a dom who never acts without permission due to past family history. His friends talk him into starring in a new reality show which features him getting to know 9 women . The woman he picks will earn lots of money and go on a two week vacation with him. He won't promise love since he doesn't believe in love or soulmates. Emery is from a small mining town in West Virginia. She was best friends with a gay pro-football player and pretended to be his girlfriend. When her friend is shot at a gay bar, her life falls apart. She can't earn enough money to live in NYC and is returning home. Problem is her dad is a hoarder and his house is disgusting. Then she gets a call to work on the set of a new reality show which she accepts. When Emery and Rhett meet, sparks fly. Emery is not the typical girl Rhett is interested in but he can't get her out of his mind. She is an innocent so he feels guilty for all the dirty things he wants to do to her. Then it is the first official day of shooting, one of the girl contestants drops out leaving an opening that they only have time to use a staff member to fill. Rhett suggests Emery and so she is now a contestant. As the contest goes on, Rhett and Emery get closer and share painful things in their lives. Will Rhett change his mind about love? This is a great book and makes me want to go back and read more of the series. The characters are rich and have real human emotions. The passion is super hot. I love Nana!

The Dom's book cover was sexy with a good-looking couple's pose. The blurb sounded interesting involving a reality TV show. So I was piqued to see how a virgin, a dom, and a TV show would mix. The backstory of both characters was quite interesting. Rhett had a whole new identity, and I think his reasoning for why he had a dark side was very believable--better than reasons given in other books that I've read. I can totally get why he had a dominant side. Emery's father was a hoarder. I've never read about that disease before. It was done in a very believable way. Very sad to watch. I didn't realize that disease was due to something triggering a person not wanting to let something go, so they don't let anything go. The reality show was written well and paced good with the romance. I did wish that the show was longer than 9 days. Then it would have made Emery's and Rhett's relationship not seem so much like insta-lust. But it was hot, steamy, and enjoyable all the same. Their 1st time was one of the hottest I've ever read. My only complaint with this wonderful story was that Mia and Rhett had a big pow-wow at the end, and I think that we should've gotten a scene where we got to witness them resolve that issue. The prior scene indicated that they were going to be okay, but I was disappointed that I didn't get to know how they made up. And what was said between them. That was a important fact to me. The next chapter started a few months later and it was already happily ever after. All in all, this was another great romance by Ms. Ward. I'm looking forward to see what she has in store for us next.
Rhett Hamilton owner of the New York’s Beasts MLB baseball team and also named New York’s most eligible bachelor, meets beautiful young Emery Ross who happen to be the girlfriend of the late Ryan Steadman who was a professional NFL football player that was shot and killed. These two have live a life of secrets that will rock their world one way or the other. Rhett was offered to have a reality show at his home, you heard of The Bachelor, well this show will be called “The Biggest Catch” with Rhett having nine contestants and eliminating them one by one. The filming will start as soon and they can get a team ready and find nine women looking for a chance to find love or a connection with Rhett.
Emery has gone home to West Virginia for the one year anniversary memorial service of Ryan’s’ death. She will be staying there because she can’t afford the rent prices in New York, she hopes that she can move in with her dad. Emery knows that her dad is a hoarder and goes to the dollar store to get cleaning supplies. At her dad house, she sees that it has gotten worst since she saw him a year ago. She just can’t stay and checks into a hotel for the night and gets a call from New York with an offer of a job working for a production company for a new reality show and she accepts. Alice has done a phenomenal job with all of the different characters in this story line, it’s emotional and heart-wrenching at the same time…
This is book five in The Beasts of Baseball series. When I volunteered to read a Hidden Gems ARC of this book, I didn't realize this was number five, but after reading this one I want to go back and read the other books in this series.
In this book the owner of the New York Beasts, Rhett Hamilton, finds his HEA. He is a man who has a troubled past. He reinvented himself at age eighteen and has made his fortune with over six hundred patents creating things to make life better for others from kitchen gadgets to medical equipment. (partial quote) After making money he took a bunch of MLB misfits and turned them into World Series champions. While at a wedding for one of his players he is coerced into being the bachelor on a new TV reality show, The Biggest Catch. He's not one that believes in love or soul mates. He goes after what he wants and gets it. What he wants now is Emery Rose.
Emery has her own troubled past. Her best friend since the age of ten, Ryan Bradley Steadman, was killed the previous year in a gay club shooting. He was a professional football player and just making a name for himself when he was shot. Emery was his "girlfriend" in the public eye to shield him from scrutiny from his family and the media. This is how she remained a virgin for twenty three years.
I liked this book very much. At first I was a little skeptical, but after the first chapter, I was hooked. There is a lot of ups and downs in this one. This book makes you LOL, get teary eyed, makes you want to reach inside the book and slap the witch (replace the w with a b) and gets you all hot a bothered! I also have to mention Nana Steele. She is a an eighty something year old woman who is very outspoken and says what she wants. I love Nana's character.
There are some aspects of BDSM in this one. There was a scene in a BDSM club that Rhett watched where the Dom used ni**** clamps and a paddle. Rhett is also a Dom and he says what he wants to do to Emery on the more extreme side of it, but the only thing we read him doing to her is some bondage, wrapping her hair in a firm grip and spanking with his hand.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it - 4.5 stars
I first noticed this book a while ago from the cover, I love that photo, it really appeals! I also thought from the title I knew what I might expect, Dom meets virgin....yeah, its been done a lot. However, this book definitely exceeded my expectations, it was very well written, it had depth of character and a good story that kept me turning the pages wanting to know how it was going to pan out. There was tension, emotion, it made me laugh and it made me cry as Rhett and Emery both battled their own demons. Yes Rhett was a dom, but this was not a hardcore bdsm book, it was more about their growing relationship within the confines of a game show neither of them really wanted to be on. It was about how they learnt to trust and let the other inside their emotional walls, but also to accept themselves for who they were despite both of their very different, difficult pasts. I loved them both as people, there were also some fabulous secondary characters too, none more so than matriarch Nana Steele and a couple of good unexpected twists at the end.
I found out after it was actually book 5 in the Beasts of Baseball series. It didn't matter, although the characters from the previous books appeared, it is a standalone and it certainly didn't give any spoilers away from the first four (that I could tell), which are now on my TBR! I'm looking forward to reading more by Alice Ward now in the near future
This book touched me on many levels. Alice has seemed to do it again. Emery is such a gentle old soul. Her actions, words and care towards others hits your heart just right. Loved her in this book. Talk about night and day. Rhett is so closed off with this hidden part of himself. He thinks himself basically unlovable. Like yin and yang, they fit. Their connection it pretty immediate. He's just consumed by her. Rhett is the owner of the Beasts, the baseball team. You don't have to read the series but why not, they are all great! He's talked into doing a bachelor type show and that's where he meets Emery. She's just gotten offered this job when she lost all hope. Life has been cruel to her and this TV show is a life saver for her. You will love Nana Steele. I wish she was my grandmother too. She takes on honorary grandchildren lol. Nana helps Rhett with his decisions. I can't tell you enough to read this book. You'll get lists of steamy parts. The Dom in him comes out to play 😊. That adds a nice twist to Emery's life, but how she handles everything in life is amazing. If I have one thing I didn't like is that they could have eco landed a little bit more on Emery. She said and points out she know a little of this and a little of that but I would have liked to know a bit more about the little bit of this and little bit of that. You'll understand when you read it. But that's it. I read this book in advance fir an honest review. Enjoy!!
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Emery Rose is a young twenty something young woman. She was rumored to be the girlfriend of a NFL football player. However, after he died in a nightclub shooting the truth came out. As Emery wasn't his wife nor common law marriage, she was kicked out of his apartment by the family and called a gold digger. of course she was none of those things. Only a true friend who stood beside her friend who made it big in the NFL.
Emery comes from a single parent home. He father does have some mental illness and is an extreme hoarder. Emery always feels that she has to take care of him and the house.
Rhett is the Beasts Baseball team owner. He is also a hugely successful business man. He holds over 100 business patents. Patents aren't an easy thing to get.
Rhett is approached to do a date a billionaire show with him! Emery signs on as a production assistant. However sparks have flown and Emery is moved into the light of the actual show.
Emery has to compete against 8 other woman for Rhett's interest. Rhett has a past that he has kept hidden from the world. Will this past come back to haunt him or will he be able to move on past it? Will Emery be able to stay on the show? Will a plain girl even be given a chance in Rhett's world?
So this is my first Beast Baseball book and yeah I feel like I am missing a little bit of the story but not much. This is strictly about Rhett and Emery.
Rhett is the owner of the Beast Baseball team. He is very quiet about his personal life and never thought owning the baseball team would be this much of a hassle when it came to his personal life. He just wanted to enjoy baseball and live his life. So while at one of his team's players wedding he is offered a chance to be in one of his own TV bachelor-era shows. Rhett is horrified but when he is told not only will the woman who "wins" will get a hundred thousand dollars, but his favorite charity will get a million dollars. When his friends push him to do it he has nothing to say but yes.
Emery has just lost her best friend to a horrible tragedy. She lost everything in New York and is heading back home where she will have to start over. Emery gets a call to come and work on a new bachelor-era show. So Emery jumps at the chance to get back to New York and start working.
Emery and Rhett have such a chemistry it pulls you in from the start. This is an emotional rollercoaster with great sex thrown in. I loved this book and will read the others that go with it!
I read this book for Hidden Gems for my honest review!
Rhett is the owner of The Beast. It doesn't really mention but I don't think he has been with anyone lately. He seems bored with just hook ups and wants more. He gets offered a chance to find his perfect catch on a reality show. Emery needs money and takes a job working on the reality show starring Rhett. Emery and Ryan were best friends. She was his beard and he was her protector. She grew up poor and was constantly teased and harassed by the other kids. They grew up together and remained friends until his death. Her dad really broke my heart. Rhett falls for her immediately. Emery ends up becoming a contestant on the show. They get closer. He still has to go on dates or at least chats with the other woman. He's not with any of them sexually except for Emery. Rhett reveals the secret that has been holding him back from wanting to settle down with a Emery. Surprise she keeps a journal that obviously gets read by another contestant. At first Rhett is hurt and thinks he was betrayed. Everything works out and Rhett gains a family member. Some of the other contestants meet his ball players and make a match. I wanted the man whore rookie relief pitcher to get a book but I think this was the last one.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Rhett is the owner of the World Series Champions Beasts baseball team when he is convinced to be the “Bachelor” on The Biggest Catch, a reality dating show. He has a few concerns as he has secrets and wants to keep his personal life private especially since they are taping the show at one of his homes.
When Emery’s mother passed away her father was unable to deal which resulted in her being bullied as a child and now her best friend Ryan has passed away and his secret life revealed leaving her homeless. Being hired as an assistant for the dating show couldn’t come at a better time.
Their first meeting is at his gym and he is drawn to her in a way he hasn’t felt before. When one of the contestants drops out he convinces the producers that Emery should take her place. Is there any way for Rhett and Emery to get their HEA when chaos erupts from a group of gold digging, back stabbing women who will do whatever is necessary to get their man?
There is a great combination of humor, drama and chemistry. I loved all the characters but Nana Steele stole the show. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
