Shear Luck
It’s sheer luck when the Queen of Coiffure books the wrong flight and meets Mr. Mane Attraction.
Kandi is all set to open the hottest hair salon in West Hollywood. The only thing she needs is a teensy bit of cash to cover the rent. Should be no harder than trimming up split ends with all the investors headed to the First Annual Hairstravaganza in Juno Beach, Florida.
One minor she booked a flight to Juneau, Alaska.
All return flights are booked for the next few days, but Kandi is confident everything will work out. In the meantime, fate has placed a gorgeous man with the most amazing head of hair in her path, perfect for promo photos.
Mario can’t wait to leave weird, smoggy LA behind and return to his true building a community center for his tribe of Tlingit Indians. The last thing he wants is a gal with a turkey on her head. But he can’t leave her stranded on the curb.
While Mario fights to stop his uncle from putting a strip mall on the sacred land and Kandi texts her thumbs down to nubs trying to keep rivals from renting her salon out from under her, their growing attraction proves a distraction neither wants.
Then again, maybe each has exactly what the other needs.

Romance is not my usual reading fare.
That being said, I found this a highly enjoyable sweet romance story set against a beautiful backdrop of an Alaskan forest. The dual POVs of Kandi and Mario made me laugh and smile and shake my head at their mutual misunderstandings as the story progressed. They are from two very different worlds, but they both have a strong passion for what they love, and that passion shines through their intertwining storylines.
If you enjoy gorgeous scenery, wonderfully crafted characters, and sweet romance, definitely check this story out.

In this light romantic comedy, author Seabury tells the story from the points of view of main characters Mario and Kandi. As a reader I was initially concerned that the dual narrative would leave little room for minor characters to react to the ongoing plot sequences, but Seabury did a fine job including the support system of both Mario and Kandi, whether it was a mom or dad joining in on the banter, or a friend who was forming an opinion on these potential love birds.
I felt Shear Luck was particularly strong in the area of character development. The plot line shared with readers what can go wrong; both in the air and in the airport.
I'm often hesitant to read romance because some plot sequences are so cliché and I can often predict the ending even if the author tries to throw in a twist. This wasn't the case with this novel.
The general premise centers around Kandi's encounter with Mario. Don't judge a book by its cover. Kandi's attraction to Mario is evident and her inner thoughts towards him are hilarious. "That nice man turned out nuts." She pictures Mario in a future ad for her salon: "Hair down, shirt off a must."
Mario's initial reaction towards Kandi is also filled with both wit and sarcasm, "I ask her what hair product she uses, huge mistake." The fact that Kandi is in the business of Hair and Beauty and Mario is clueless makes the interaction between them worth remembering.
In Shear Luck, Sue Seabury has written a delightful romance and I would certainly read this again.

Shear Luck is a light romantic comedy. I like the cover, and I feel it fits the story well. This book had me laughing from the first page to the last page. I loved both main characters, Kandi and Mario. Both have a witty sarcastic humor that kept me turning the pages.
The writing is extremely well done, the characters are very well rounded and feel like they could be real people, and the setting is perfectly described.
Two wildly opposite characters are thrown together when Kandi catches the wrong flight and instead of going to Florida, she ends up in Alaska with Mario and his family. The romance is sweet and well done between the two as they learn about themselves and each other.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who like to learn about new cultures, is interested in hair, and loves a good laugh mixed in with their romance.

A Fun Read with Great Characters
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Kandi Kane (yes, that's her name) is one of the most original characters I've ever encountered. She is a crazily creative hair stylist who accidently ends up in Alaska instead of Florida because of an airline reservation error. Rescued by her seat mate, a gorgeous hunk who can't leave her stranded at the airport, she ends up affecting his family and everyone in Salmon Creek when she can't get a flight out. But no one is more affected than Mario, a Tlingit whose commitment to his history and culture is at odds with the community which is too enamored of modern technology. Seabury is not only a master of characterization, she weaves a plot line that keeps her readers turning the pages as both Kandi and Mario struggle with a growing relationship that threatens their separate dreams. Excellent!

Well, I read it in two days... I think it's safe to say it was good! This author writes the most authentic, engaging voices I've ever come across. It's like the characters are living and breathing right in front of me.
I loved Kandi--friendly, real, no-nonsense, weird-and-owns-it, funny, but surrounded by the superficial. Mario was great, too--passionate, real, determined, caring, but stuck in a bit of a rut, a bit isolated. She's a bit heavy handed, and he's a bit stubborn. They had the chemistry, and they both were what each of them needed. :) I loved how Kandi's accent slowly showed itself as she felt more and more comfortable around Mario and his family. That was a lovely touch!
The ending was completely satisfying, too. Can't wait for the author's next book!

A tale of self discovery.
A delightful story about serendipity. A mistaken flight brings together Kandi and Mario. Kandi is exuberant while Mario is quiet. Kandi thrives on innovative hair styling. Mario wants to keep his tribal traditions alive.
From the first page to the last this was a very enjoyable story. Lives and dreams change all written skillfully by the author.
There are no chapters only the alternating POV of Kandi or Mario which made it quite difficult to put down. Definitely recommend for lighthearted reading.

So I read Stranded in Alaska part 1, which is this one but updated? So I dont know how much of *this one* I actually read, but close enough lol
Its a very light read and for a while I thought Kandi would annoy the ever living f out of me but she grows on you lol. I really liked some of her quippy lines.
Being that I used to live just a few hours from the Alaskan border, it was kinda cool to see scenery I lived around for a while and yes, cedar is a big deal!
Not my genre, but I had fun!

Kandi is all about being a hairdresser. Mario has some goals to do good for others. A mix up in a flight changes both people in their goals. The story is told from each person's point of view as their lives interact, connect and change what they both think. For me this was a pretty good story,especially of you like a twisted tale with a lot of hair references and a bit of fun.

This is an engaging and entertaining read with loveable characters and a hilarious story line. Well written and hard to put down. I'll be reading future books by this author. I'm still laughing!

This is a really fun chick-lit. The Alaskan setting is a breath of fresh air compared to the more usual urban settings, and Kandi the outwardly vapid hairdresser had surprising depths and good qualities that made me root for her throughout. Great tension in the romance. Recommended.
