The first book in the Twisted series introduces you to Camilla Nicole Scott who soon realizes that her life is even more taboo and twisted than she thought. As if sleeping with her high school principal wasn't enough, she also has uncontrollable sexual urges she can't explain.
She soon finds out that her mother has been lying to her about who she is for her entire life. Strings begin to unravel around Camilla, and she finds herself in a love triangle with two of the most unlikely people. Both men satisfy her thirst for lust in very different ways and she will not give them up.
Out to discover the truth about who she is, Camilla tries to navigate the lies, broken relationships and pain. Instead, she ends up twisted around the drama of it all even more.
Danielle James is a wife and mother of two, who has written and published over twenty romance novels. Danielle’s work spans from sweet and romantic to dark and taboo. She prides herself on writing bold romance for bold readers. Her books are sexually charged with alpha female characters that leap off the pages. Each book sucks you into an entirely different world with steamy scenes, drama, and amazing plot twists along the way. Her goal is to hook you and keep you addicted so you'll come back for more.
Opening scene heroine is having sex with the principal, some of her thoughts: “I taste amazing” “..I look hot as hell..”
Best friends crush (a teacher) walks in and this is her thought process AFTER having sex.. “Jesus, the dimples. My nipples grew hard looking at him. I swallowed a lump and remembered my girl had a little crush on him. If she didn’t though..”
Shes back late coming from lunch but won’t apologize to the teacher and is thinking shes the bitch so conveniently shes sent to the principals office 🙄 and this is where I should have stopped - she has sex with Hero again (same day after lunch) - she felt she would explode if she didn’t have an orgasm.
I kept going though.. unsure why I already disliked the heroine, Camilla. The next chapter was from best friends POV - who I liked.
However, I stopped at 9% when Camilla slept with teacher her best friend had a crush.
Definitely not the type of heroine I like. Too bitchy, too immature, too everything.

Damn! Drama, drama, drama! This book is really twisted and so are the characters. If you’re shy and don’t want to read about a lot of sex scenes please for all that’s holy don’t read this book. Don’t get me started on the inappropriate behaviors with the characters that are not supposed to be involved (according to society) with one another. Now on the other hand, if that sounds like something that you might be interested in dive in, you won’t be disappointed.
Is this another taboo romance novel? No. Taboo? Yes. Novel? Yes. Romance? Not really. There are elements of love. There is heartache, jealousy, passion, zeal, etc. but it is not a romance per se.
Knowing what I know after reading it, would I have read it in the first place? Yes. It has elements of forbidden love, steamy sex scenes, and true to the title, it is totally twisted.
TBH I’m not sure if I will continue with the series. There was lots of angst. It’s not a series where everyone naturally falls into each other and they live happily ever (as far as I know). It’s not a book that has me locked in a perpetual grin. It is one that will make your blood simmer with anger and leave your thighs clenched with arousal.
Yes. It’s that good. Just typing the above makes me think that I will continue with the series. Not in a binge all at once way. More in a rationed feed kinda way. The Twisted series will make for a good mental palate cleanser. Perfect for the moments where I don’t want to be happy. The times where I want to embrace my twisted self in the vicarious manner that reading permits.
The sexual exploits of a 17 year old girl are not my idea of a good read. From the description I assumed the author was giving context of the history of a grown women, not speaking in terms of what was currently happening in the life of a high school kid. Not into pedophiles or old men who prey on children. Not for me.
This book was weird. I usually like this author’s books but this didn’t even feel like the same writing. There were so many spelling, spacing, grammatical errors in this book. Why?! I do have to admit though, the sex scenes were pretty hot when you’re looking at them without the backstory. Other than that.. I’m just.. -shaking my head-
As a fan of Danielle James' work since her story of Ms. Bailey and her series starring Zuri, Roman, Matt, and Crissy, I just felt the urge to purchase the entire series about Camilla. I finished the first book a few hours ago, and OH MY DAMN! Camilla is batsh** crazy, and the twists and turns were phenomenal! I cannot wait for Book 2!
This book was nothing like I anticipated, it takes you on an emotional roller coaster that you can't get off of. The images painted in the story leaves you with questions about the world's humanity.
A great taboo story well written kept my enthralled from beginning till the end it's a great start to a new series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
I love the way this author spins a tale involving taboo topics. But storyline is written so well that by the time you look up and you’ve e completed the book.
