It's Daniel's job to help women meet their Prince Charming. So why is it so hard for him to find his own happily ever after?

As the executive producer of reality dating show My Prince Charming, workaholic Daniel Dixon has always had a hard time keeping his personal and professional lives separate. When royal bad boy Charles Lexington is brought on board to boost the show's falling ratings, Daniel is forced to deal with the baggage which accompanies the handsome prince's less-than-stellar reputation. As Daniel deals with drama behind the scenes, he gets to know the man behind the headlines and finds himself falling for Charles—whether he wants to or not.

Charles never gave love a second thought—but after meeting Daniel, it's the only thing on his mind.

When Charles Lexington's traditional English family informs him of his involuntary engagement to Lady Dolores Ellsworth, he needs a way out—and fast. The rebellious royal's plan is simple: appearing on a trashy American reality television show is the perfect way to appall his uptight fiancee, end the arrangement and win back his freedom. Charles seizes the chance to return to a life of partying and paparazzi, but his plans quickly meet a roadblock—the show’s sexy, stubborn producer, Daniel Dixon. To Charles’s surprise, there is true love to be found on the set of My Prince Charming—just not when the cameras are rolling.

Back to Reality is a standalone m/m contemporary romance novel with no cheating and no cliffhangers. This book features sexy English accents, trashy reality television, steamy scenes, and—of course—Happily Ever After!

I'm definitely finished. This continually bounced from 1st person to 3rd, leaving me to wonder if it was originally supposed to be told in 3rd, but then the author changed his mind. He also couldn't seem to decide whether Charles's mother was supposed to be a witch or not, which made it difficult for me as the reader to know whether I should loathe her or not.

Maybe it's the way the world is right now. I have no sympathy for a rich spoiled "royal"

So yeah. Done.

This needed some major editing

I was hopeful going in, and the first chapter was good setting up the premise: in the closet partier rolyal and workaholic. The reality show was enticing with a promise of a show build and secret relationship. NOPE. This was a mess. It was poorly edited, at one point it miss pro-nouned Daniel and had him wearing heels (leaving me to believe he started out as a female character). There were really bad Time slips, first a few days, then a few weeks, it couldn't keep the timeline straight. The couple had the most chemistry before the awkward dating began (and Charles went from never acting on his urges to dabbling and being all in, no question). It was a confused mess, and I don't think the author knows how reality TV works (I, admittedly, don't either, but it doesn't work like that). Then the contrived final conflict which was immature and forced (then tossing Ralph out to dry to tie it up in a bit). It was a huge disappointment. The one consolation was that it was short.

Back To Reality (The Royal Lexingtons Book 1)
My Reality Is Prince Charming
I loved this book it was great and I loved the story idea. And the well-developed characters brought that story to life. The MC’s are Daniel who is a Reality TV Producer and Charles who is Royalty a Prince. These characters are wonderful and creative. I love their witty and snarky comebacks to each other. Here is one part of the book that I like, (“So, where’s my mail order bride, or whatever it is I’m on this show for?” Charles was still grinning. Lila and Daniel both exchanged exasperated glances, rolling their eyes at his joke. “Very funny,” said Daniel dryly.) …… (Charles straightened his back, adopting the same impossibly serious stare that the Queen’s guard wore outside Buckingham Palace. He gave the exasperated producer in front of him an over the top, exasperated salute before curtsying into a deep bow, pretending to don a monocle, “My apologies, I didn’t realize I was in the presence of the master of the house – my deepest apologies, your majesty.”). There is more to the conversation but you will need to read the book, it is funny though.

Daniel produces a show called My Prince Charming and his current prince has run off. Charles comes in to take his place to escape an arranged engagement by his parents. Well sparks fly in an unexpected direction between Daniel and Charles. It’s a bit of a bumpy road for them miscommunication, tabloids, family, coworkers, evil bosses, low ratings, steamy moments, stolen moments, a beach, drama and a HEA. This was a pleasure to read that you don’t want to miss. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

"The Bachelor" with a twist

Rating is 2.5, rounded up, primarily for the confusing misuse of possessive pronouns, evidence of poor editing. Suspicion that this was written as a third person narrative, and then switched (albeit quite poorly) to alternating viewpoints, as well as an editor who is unfamiliar with rules of grammar regarding first person singular pronoun in the objective sense (I vs me).

The characters are mildly interesting, drawn well. The use of the reality show as the plot was almost clever, but producer at 22? Really? If editing were thoroughly applied, I'd recommend as fluff reading, but currently it is too jarring.

As I am a gatherer of books, I collect books and ebooks from a variety of sources: Goodreads wins, BookBub, BookFunnel, Riffle, Prolific Works, emails from authors and publishers, and others. I do lose track of their sources. But, as a reader, I feel I should give an honest, unencumbered review for all I read. I acquired this for free through Amazon in May 2020, probably through a promotion.

This is the first book by this author I have read and it was an easy, enjoyable read. The characters are really easy to get behind and Charles and Daniel get under you skin very easily. This book is well written and the plot is easy to follow Daniel lives for his reality programme and when the Prince Charming suddenly takes off Daniel can see his show being cut. Charlie's needs to do something to derail his forced marriage. Then he's offered a place as the new Prince Charming. He takes it up and starts on the show.
When Charlie's meets Daniel he thinks he's a workaholic who needs a little fun. Daniel thinks Charles is the bad boy the paper's make him out to be. They both realise they are wrong about each other. They become closer but Daniels need for the programme to make it has him running scared at times. This is an enjoyable fun read and well written. Well worth a read.

I thought this was a quick, enjoyable read. The characters are likeable, the writing is pretty good and the plot is interesting. There were a few typos here and there, but not so many that they distracted me from the overall story. While I enjoyed the chemistry the two main characters possessed, I felt they fell in love just a little too fast. Granted, Charles was such a romantic that I didn't mind the insta-love all that much. If you're in the mood for a relatively uncomplicated, romantic story, this will be a great read for you!

I received a copy of this book from the author and voluntarily provided my honest review.

So badly written

Very hard to read. It goes from first person to third person in a paper graph, even in sentences. Hard to understand what exactly the author is trying to say. And the story is totally unbelievable. Definitely won’t be trying to read anything else by this author.

A fun book. Good story and we'll written. There were some issues with tenses and pronouns. Switching from first to third person. Seems like editing could have been better and these issues resolved. I enjoyed it.

Love On The Set

Do you like reality TV? Do you like that show "The Bachelor"? What if "The Bachelor" was secretly gay. What if he fell for the director. Great idea, huh? This is, sort of, what this story is about.

This story is chock-full of all the good things that made an 80's series like Dynasty and Dallas great. It has betrayal, high drama, misunderstandings, dramatic exits, etc. Now throw in someone of Royal Blood and you've just kicked it up another notch.

The chemistry between Daniel and Charles is so electric you can light a lamp with it. Their first kiss happens after accidentally seeing each other in a coffee shop and going outside to take a walk and talk. That is so Starbucks, I love it. This begins secret kisses behind bushes and around corners. So romantic.

The story also has a villain. He plants seeds of misunderstandings which leads to the high drama.

The pacing is a bit slow due to pages of character's thoughts. What they're thinking. I think that was overkill and too much. I would have loved to have read more dialogue between the characters and supporting characters.

The ending was okay. I'm glad it was a happy ending, but again, the same issue. Too many pages of the characters thoughts. I would have loved to have read more action than what they're thinking.

I loved the sweet factor of the story. The chemistry between the main characters is very sweet and there are some wonderful romantic moments.

If you love reality TV and if you love "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" and those types of shows, then you will love this book. I recommend you get it.

Isn't this more or less the story of the first season of Unreal? Just here the executive producer is male. I don't want to read the book just so I can compare them but has anyone read this book and seen Unreal? I would be interesting to know how similar they are.

Not a bad story but it's in need of serious proof reading as some of it didn't make sense and there were incomplete words.
