Awesome! top notch storytelling, sometimes disturbing but very compelling stuff..good chemistry and a great supporting cast..the author's unhurried, spare narrative style and writing is a perfect match for her characters, particularly the complicated main(Steele),who continues to focus her anger directly into the abyss of the soul of just one man(I.Garrison)...with a fast-paced,greatly edited,page-turning excitement and a chilling conclusion, this book is a suspenseful, dark thriller where the serial killing plays out against a backdrop of both big city and small island rumors and extreme family dysfunction..the fears and problems she writes about are universal(human sex trafficking, cop killing, rape, mutilation etc)and the merging of genres like crime and mystery, and storylines such as being a cop/detective and family secrets is very interesting..in the end, this 3rd installment in this series is creepy, fantastic and an enjoyable read to which i encourage everyone to get into as quickly as possible from bk#1 because it's that good and it's from a bada$$ author with mad writing skills...
Detective Steele was a mess at the beginning of this series. As with the real world, it takes time and effort to heal and get over past horrors. Jasmine is finally allowing people to actually help her in both her personal life and professional. Who knew? Yeh, we all knew once she accepted this help, she would begin to heal.
I would most definitely recommend reading this series in order. Not to will cause frustrations because so much of this book relies on the previous ones. We have the same horrible players and the same crime investigators. It feels comforting.
This time the FBI has become involved. The police department are relieved to have the help. I suspect this will not be the last we see Agent Sharp. She is a wonderful addition to the crew of crime fighters. I also suspect more to come with the bad guys we have encountered. Nothing in real life is black and white.
It's an amazing thriller and a complete entertainer. Jasmine Steele and her partner Will investigate the twin murders of a store manager and assistant manager of a gaming center. Unfortunately, an explosion leaves one officer dead and Will and Jasmine are admitted to a hospital. This incident is followed by a series of murder linked to Irving Garrison. Agent Marlow from FBI steps in to assist detective Steele as the number of dead bodies pile up. The NYPD captain Udall is killed during the investigation. It's a fast paced action thriller with lots of surprises. Would the leading ladies be able to arrest the elusive criminal? Would the murdered victims get justice? It's a must read book. Highly recommended.
The Garrison investigation continued in book three. There was some shuffling around of Jazz's family and friends even more distant than usual. A "good guy" new character was introduced who blended well with Jazz and Will's partnership. (She would be a great occasionally recurring character and I hope she returns.) There were a few new criminals tied to Garrison that were established in the story, as well. As usual, Jasmine couldn't make it through a story without injuries, but nothing as bad as what happened in book two.
The plot was excellent and the book was very well-written. I've really enjoyed this series and will continue on to book four.
I just love the Jasmine Steele series ! I love that she has heart ,common sense ( most of the time lol ) loves her family and truly loves her job,her partner Will….I was sad that Captain Udall was killed. Looking forward to reading the next book- I know it will be another page turner !!
I just finished book 3 and all of these well written works were addicting. The plot, characters and emotions in that were shown were amazing. If you have not read this series you are missing out on a great and exciting adventure. Bravo !!!
These books have all the thrills and excitement of a police murder investigation. But they also bring us in to the family aspect of the tale. The blood relatives and the chosen family that develops for us over time. This is the true richness of these books. A series definitely worth reading!
Like the other books in the series. I think I've found a new favorite author. It's amazing how many new authors I have found since I've had so much time to read since I'm basically a shut m thanks to fighting my third battle with the beast called cancer.
Felt every emotion while reading this installment. Awesome story that I want to read more of. I sincerely hope that the story continues once this series ends..
Jasmine has a lot of anger, trying to bring down the corruption, leaking things to the press thru different media venues. Chief puts her and Will, her partner on a double murder at the video store. There are skelton’s the owners of the store don’t want her to solve the case. The plot is tense, you learn about video games. You sense the evil, they are fighting against. She has written another compelling story that will keep you digging for clues, and will want to read another by the author. Well done for plot, and the rich descriptions of the lead officers.
Another great book by Mrs. Amato. I read this one in one day, just couldn't put it down. It had everything you need a suspense book. Danger, intrigue, and loss of loved character. I would definitely recommend this book and the rest of the series to anyone that loves suspense and mystery.
