The Barna group recently released shocking Less than half of born-again teenagers (44 percent) say they are absolutely committed to the Christian faith. Only one in every three teens (33 percent) say they are likely to continue to participate in church life once they are living on their own. These alarming numbers bring all kinds of questions to With over thirty years of kids ministry experience, David Boyd is a reliable source for anwers to questions like these. Based on eight major goals, he provides insight and information on how to help kids become believers who are strong enough to last the most difficult challenges of life.
Highly recommend for children’s ministry workers and for parents. Full of practical advice and engaging stories and is an easy read. The author gives a great outline, or blueprint as he refers to it, of 8 key areas that will build a strong foundation to help young people stay strong in their faith for life. The 8 goals being powerful in prayer, responsive in worship, biblically fluent, Spirit empowered, giving selflessly, actively serving, bold in faith and living like Christ are simply yet thoroughly explained. The only hesitation for some readers may be the Pentecostal/charismatic aspect in the Spirit empowered chapter but I don’t see it as a reason to not give this book a read.
Every youth & children’s pastor needs to read this! We must learn to focus on building spiritual depth and not just numbers. David Boyd’s wisdom & experiences shared in this book are invaluable.
If you have a kid, are in kids ministry, or know a kid, you have to read this book. So many GREAT application points for instilling spiritual depth into children.
