[Alternate cover edition for ASIN: B01N7YMW1G]

Skylar Ellen Crosby is a typical redhead: blunt, passionate, with a bit of a temper. Okay, so maybe she's a little neurotic too. She just can't afford to be distracted these days, especially not by the immature boys that keep asking her out. At the end of her third year at Harvard Law, all Skylar wants is to figure out her next steps: ones that will hopefully include a job, an apartment, and enough money to help her father stop getting into trouble. She simply has no room for romance, especially the kind that might break your heart. But on a dark, snowy night, when she's stranded in the living room of the notorious CEO of Sterling Ventures and one of the best attorneys in Boston, all of those boundaries are about to be knocked down.

Brandon Sterling never believed in fate. A man of his own making, he firmly credits his successes to hard work. How else could you explain his rise from the poorest of backgrounds in South Boston to becoming one of the most successful entrepreneurs in Boston? Living in the lap of luxury, it never mattered to him that increasing success meant increased isolation in his big house on Beacon Street. After all, when you have everything, everyone else always wants something. That he walks in to find a gorgeous redhead sitting on his windowsill. Suddenly, the idea of love at first sight seems like the most plausible thing in the world...if only the one person he wants to give his heart to would actually take it.

Together, Skylar and Brandon have the kind of passion few hope to find, but things keep getting in their way. Between school, business, her father's gambling troubles and Brandon's history of personal struggle, will their complicated lives prevent them from making it work together? Or, as they both suspect somewhere deep down, have they finally met their match in each other's hearts?

FANGIRL DOWN, FANGIRL DOWN!!!!

I simply adored this book. Not from the very first moment, actually, because for the first 10% or so Brandon was acting like a true jerk, but after that I couldn't stop reading. Everything changed on their first real date, when we finally get to know why he made all the wrong moves with Skylar, and it's a damn good explanation. Moreover, he showed Skylar and us readers another aspect of himself, a facet which was much more likable. He peeled away his mask and reveal a funny, charming guy whose only fault was not having social skills when it comes to serious relationships with the opposite sex. In truth, after reading his lewd preposition, I'd rolled my eyes and braced for what I thought was going to turn into an office-erotica, with the boss saying: "bend over my desk" and the girl answering: "with or without panties".

It couldn't had been further from that!

Skylar's character was a positive surprise. What I loved above everything else about her is that she didn't put up with Brandon's stalkerish-assholish behavior. All the time, I read of heroines who are supposedly outraged by these behaviors, but then are secretly flattered and do nothing to stop the hero from acting like a douche. Not Skylar. She told him off and kept pushing him away until he changed attitude. She set him straight. You go, girl!

This was her answer when Brandon propositioned to her the first time:
“You should have HR burn my file along with those goddamn shoes. I’d rather you didn’t have a way to contact me after I’m gone.”

Oh, and also this, so you know what I'm talking about:
“Oh my God! Are you some kind of creep? I don’t know what about me makes you think 'cheap hooker', but Jesus FUCKING Christ! I might be the daughter of a garbage collector, but that doesn’t make me trash, you got me, motherfucker? What the fuck is wrong with you? Do you always treat women like this? Did you not learn that no means no? Do I need to call the fucking cops?”

She's confident, young but independent, and also skeptical of his motives. She's a modern woman, who enjoys romance but who won't put her heart on the line on their first date just because he's a hot shot. I respected her for that.

“Um, no thanks. I don’t get into cars with strange men I don’t know who follow me by helicopter. Subway’s fine for me.”

So, yeah, she definitely made him sweat their first date. This chick got my stamp of approval.

Their chemistry was off the charts and they kind of did things in reverse when it came to the physical aspect. Still, instead of feeling meaningless, it was clear that for the both of them, it would turn into something deeper. It was also blatant that Brandon had never felt anything similar
before and it made him even more endearing to me, because he couldn't get one thing right when it came to Skylar and how to court her. You see this big hot-shot lawyer and billionaire turn all insecure when it comes to the basics of dating.

Another thing that surprised me was how much time and pages were spent on building their relationship. Of course, being a romance, it is to be expected, but I always love it when the author takes time to delve deeper into the more domestic aspects, like days spent on the couch
or the occasional sexy moment that is not necessary to the narration but still gives you a better insight in the characters' lives. On a side note, the steamy scenes were super hot and Brandon was a definitely generous lover.

Supporting characters were fun, too, from Skylar's filter-less roommate to her family. They were well-characterized and unique. I loved her grandma, Bubbe, because she was super-realistic, always trying to feed Skylar, meddling and also giving wise advice. Her father was another interesting person, because his issues added a layer of suspense and a healthy amount of thrills to the narration, which was much appreciated.

Now, let's discuss Brandon. He's a laywer, co-owns a law firm and is basically a genius on top of being a billionaire. Now, I don't read many billionaires romances but I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed how he kept trying to pamper Sky and always fucked up. Tending to the ones he loves by throwing money and gifts at them is who he is, because of the way he grew up, and Skylar, being the independent spitfire who she is, is so not okay with that. I'd say this is the main issue between them and I loved how Brandon finally got to understand that meaningless gifts and such couldn't buy her affection. Still, he cocks up once and again, causing friction, angst, sparkles and powerful feelings, both good and bad.

“I’m not crazy, Skylar. I’m just at a loss here. My life… it hasn’t always been that great. I just wanted things to be like… the movies, you know? Like a dream. Because by the time I invited you to stay the night at my house, I already felt like I was dreaming. I wanted you to feel that way. I suppose I thought things like that,” he gestured helplessly back at the box on the table, “would help.”

Truth is, this book isn't a smooth ride, because these two guys really fight a lot. Still, it feels like a smooth ride and that because even when they're fighting, you can feel how much they care about the other, how in love they are. Also, and for this Ms French deserves tons of kudos, when they fight, they don't run away. This is a pet peeve of mine. I actually enjoy seeing characters fight because I perceive it as a way to progress in the relationship, you know, actually talking about issues and trying to solve them. But I've also learned to dread fights, because 80% of authors have separation follow every fight. It's like a trigger. If I read a fight scene, then I get nervous because I know it will result in separation and I hate that. Here instead, Brandon and Skylar may fight, also quite heatedly, but then they find a way to compromise or one of them yields. It was mature and it made my enjoyment even greater (it also led to very hot make up shenanigans, so that's a plus).

“I’d give you my life if it would protect you and your family. This isn’t some trade, Skylar. I just want to make you happy. You love to play, and I love to hear it. I just want to make your life better the way you make mine better. I love you, don’t you see that?”

The only flaw in the book were some typos, which goes to say how much I enjoyed it!!! They still didn't take anything away from the narration.

Oh, and another thing that shocked me but which I was probably expecting anyway was one plot twist involving Brandon. It was well done, but it was probably the only moment when I didn't really like Skylar because with this happening so late in the narration, their relationship was solid
enough for me to bitch at her when she didn't listen to him when he wanted to explain.

I'd also like to spend a couple words on the length of this book. Almost 450 pages. Now, for a romance, that's quite a lot. Especially if you think that it's only the first book (yes, there's a sequel). To some, it may seem too much. To me, it's synonym of heaven, especially given the way this book was executed. It never bored me, it never frustrated me with its length, because something was always happening, be it relationship wise, be it work-wise, or family-wise.

You’re it for me. So this is me, and if I have to write you an encyclopedia a month for the rest of my life, I’ll make it my life’s work to make you fall in love with me again. I know I can be that man for you, Skylar. If you’ll let me.

Last but not least, that cliffhanger slayed me!!!! Yet it gave me hope. Because it made things super interesting for the next installments, which will come out in a few months, I believe, and which I'll be waiting for with bated breath.

I love you.
Always.
Do you love me yet, Red?

Do not read this book. The author betrays the reader.

The book started off really well and I liked it. She works for him as an intern and he tries to buy her clothes, an apartment, and make her his mistress and he'd have sex with her when he felt like it. She refuses and tells him she should sue for sexual harassment. (But does not)

Heroine is a law student in her final year of school and hero is a very successful lawyer and investor.

She keeps refusing his very extravagant gifts as he is a billionaire. She sends back red Manolo Blahnik heels, refuses a trip to Paris to go for dinner, sells the $28,000 Tiffany necklace he gives her and donates the money to her pro bono clinic for the poor.

Finally he realizes she loves him just the way he is, not for his money.

That is when his WIFE walks in on them having sex. HE IS MARRIED AND NEVER TOLD HER.

He tries to fix this by telling her they have been legally separated for 3 years and have been negotiating for that long because he is a billionaire and got married without a prenup.

So in book 2 after they are still broken up, she finds out she is pregnant. In book 2 SHE HAS AN ABORTION.

I wanted to read a romance novel, not be forced to watch as she goes to the doctor and has an abortion and is on the phone with her best friend for hours as she aborts her baby.

I DON'T WANT AN ABORTION IN A ROMANCE NOVEL.

And I try, I try,I try,I try.....
To finish this book...
But I just could not do it
Bad liar remix by me

The main reason I could not finish this book is the cliches, its too much and I just can't take too much cliches especially in romance books, this book is also giving 50 shades vibe and I don't like 50 shades.

Super rich guy that knows nothing about dating

“It’s funny. I know someone who always gives expensive jewelry like that to women he dates.”
I jerked my head up to find Kieran peering at me, brief, wry amusement playing across her sharp features.
She pointed a pen at me as she spoke. “Usually before he even knows them very well.” She shrugged. “I always tell him that will make the good ones feel like prostitutes, but he never listens. He was planning to do it again last week even though I told him not to.”

The girl is terrible at dressing and her best friend is a fashionista

“What about this one?”
Jane yanked a bright blue dress off a hanger that was so short it looked more like a skirt. She held it up against her slim body and swished it playfully from side to side.
My face immediately torqued up in disgust. “Are you kidding? That’s not a dress. It’s lingerie.”
“It’s hot, and you’d look hot in it. Didn’t he tell you he liked your legs?”
“Yes, but—”
“Well, one look at you in this, and he’ll actually fuck you on the piano this time. Or maybe in the backseat of his car. Is his driver a perv? Do you think he’d watch?”

The guy is also a genius with a multi billion dollar company
And a driver that calls her...

“Hi David,” I said to Brandon’s driver as he stepped out of the car and opened the back door for me.
“Ms. Crosby,” he replied with a brief nod. I slid in to the backseat, and he closed the door behind me.

He is also a stalker
How did you get my number?
310-555-2368: I offered Ana a raise to get it from your friend. She really took advantage of me.
Me: Oh? I thought you were going to stop spying.
310-555-2368: I paid for it. She makes more than me now. Last time, I promise.

Suffice to say I don't like anything about this book, the writing is a bit okay but the cliches and long unnecessary descriptions overshadowed that.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Okay, I'm a little biased because I wrote it. I'm a sucker for strong women and the damaged men who love them. Plus, it's just hot! Even I can't wait to know everything that happens next (don't worry, I'm writing). What do you think?

This actually started off really good...I liked it a lot and then somewhere towards the ending, the very predictable twist left me with rolling my eyes and a sigh...

I liked the hero, Brandon Sterling more than I liked as times the heroine, Skylar aka Red...*shrugs*

Nevertheless, I finished book 2 and book 3, cause, well, that's my thing, I need to wrap up thing, I need a closure, so...it is what it is...

over all, this will be a review for all three books...

and summing it up as easiest as possible : A mild touch up of Fifty Shades with an uncanny similarity to Crossfire and you have yourselves a Spitfire *wink*

LEGALLY YOURS was a very mixed read for me with later highlights but earlier low-lights. The initial setting was inviting, with Skylar piquing my interest as an unusual character. She didn't seem to be able to find a fit in life, both work and outside. She'd had a few careers and was still studying and whilst I wouldn't place this in the NA genre, it did have some parallels with that type of story. At about 12%, there was a section of the story that screamed FSOG, the similarities were so strong that it began to put me off the book and continuing. However, I did continue and I'm pleased to report the character of Brandon did not become a 'Christian' despite his initial overtures. Nevertheless, I remained jaded over this similarity. In retrospect, I don't understand it's inclusion.

As mentioned, the story developed in it's own kind of direction and whilst I enjoyed some of the story, I found it to be overly descriptive and I lost focus and motivation at times. I enjoyed the Boston setting and family background. Neither Skylar or Brandon completely won me over with their connection in the long run although I have to say the steam and heat was well written. There's definitely more to come with these two and I can see the next book outlined.

A copy of this book was provided by the author in return for a honest review.

I know this doesn't bother other people, but this is one of those series that ends on a cliff-hanger and the story continues into book 2. I am not a giant fan of this, and found it unsatisfying here. Other than that ... I liked Brandon and Skyler a lot (though the billionaire and the new grad story is pretty shopworn, since 50SoG there have been hundreds of these books.) As much as I liked the characters I hated that Skyler was so freaking unreasonable and cavalier about her relationship with Brandon. Over and over she acted in ways that no person has acted, Ever. It just made her seem mean and unreasonable and that makes it hard to root for the happy ending. She is delightful in other relationships (I love her relationship with her bubby and with her bff Jane!) so I still liked her, but man she is really not great at romantic partnership, and since this is a romance that made things hard. When there was not relationship DRAMA I liked this, and had things in that area been a little more nuanced and her actions more justifiable this would have been a 4. I did immediately go to book 2 (thanks Hoopla!) so we will see if things improve and if book 3 is in my future.

Hot stuff right here - along with well-developed characters who have great chemistry, a fast-pace (don't let that page count fool you - this moves quickly!), and an emotional roller coaster of a story. I love male characters who act tough but are actually vulnerable (Brontë heroes, anyone?) and tough, speak-your-mind heroines, and Brandon and Skylar fit both of these bills. I am absolutely looking forward to book two!

I’m a little bit torn about this story. Let me tell you what I liked about it first. It is exactly what you want a contemporary romance novel to be like. There is lots of drama, strong female character, and a bunch of interesting antagonists. The romance in this story is sweet, and off the charts hot, with Brandon saying things like:

‘I couldn’t give a shit if you’ve been with one or one thousand other men, because none of them are going to light a fucking candle to what you and I can do together.’

Nevertheless, I still found myself skipping some parts of the book, as, in my opinion, they didn’t have any purpose and were simply boring.
I proud myself on being honest and diplomatic, so what irks me the most in books is when the dramatic situations seem forced in some way and could easily be avoided. Unfortunately, there was lots of that in this story. Brandon and Sky, two highly intelligent and educated people, acted like characters in Brazilian telenovelas. Sky’s go to response if something didn’t go her way was slapping Brandon in the face, saying things she didn’t mean, leaving and then changing her mind five minutes later. Brandon must really be in love if after all this he still decides to fight for their relationship. Even though Brandon was honest about what he wants and his feeling for Sky, she still managed to interpret everything the wrong way. Sometimes I had to go back and reread what he said, because I could not understand how she managed to arrive at this conclusion.

I am still going to read the second book in the series, because despite all of the above I really want to find out what happens to Brandon and Sky. I also hope that the story will pick up, and they will both have some more rational reasons for their actions.

This was a billionaire book first in a trilogy. It had the usual storyline. Poor girl wow's rich guy. Rich guy can't express himself properly. But there is several twists. Their is an underlining mob interference. But with this red annoyed me. Her grand father and father had gambling problems and she hated the fact that Brandon got involved with them to help her and keep her safe. It seemed that he tried to change so much for her to keep throwing it in his face. At one point she says that all they have done together so far is things that she likes and nothing that he liked but she considers him selfish. The story was okay but Red annoyed me way too much.

I’m unfortunately going to have to DNF this. I tried until 46% which is 200 pages. It’s a very long book.

It has that slightly cheesy typical romance novel vibe. Something about it just doesn’t click with me.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ok.... lets start off by saying I did enjoy this book. I would say it's a 3.5. I started and finished in little over a day..... with that said I would have finished much sooner but the length of this book is so long. The Author was extremely detailed in her writing which probably lead to the increased length of the book. However, I think it could have been condensed down some or ended the first book sooner and saved some for the second book in the series. I also, didn't realize this was a series and not a standalone, purely my fault there.

As far as the story went... I did like the characters. I loved Red (Skylar) from the beginning and I also liked Brandon. The author made them very believable and even expanded on why they were or did the things they did. I loved it. What I didn't love is that after a while (entirely too long of a book) the scenarios started to be redundant and I started to lose my love with the main character Skylar, and maybe that is what the author intended. I wasn't sold on the cliff hanger, and there is a pretty typical for romance novels cliffhanger at the end of book one. Let's just hope Red gets her head out of her ass for book two, and get out of her own way.

Overall solid book that I did enjoy and I will look into reading the second one so I know what happens.

Thank you for letting me read this book.

Awesome Read!!! Rating : 4.9 Stars
I had great fun reading this book. Nicole, plz continue writing such amazing books, I would look to read more books of yours!
Initially I felt like plot and story line is copied from well known Fifty Shades of Grey ... But i must tell everyone NO, its not. It looks like but story is actually totally different and spell binding i must say. Characters are so perfect.

The relationship between Skylar and Brandon is amazing. Their romance is dream like and not only sex but they are connected more emotionally that is the most interesting part I got stuck with. Brandon being a top notch lawyer and business tycoon could have got any girl. But he falls for Skylar a Garbage collector's daughter, of course for something special in her. Both of them had there own backgrounds and Brandon's character really impressed me by always being with Skylar NO MATTER WHAT !!!

This is a slow burning one (thats why 0.1 stars taken off you see :) I am not a big fan of slow exaggerating stories but i still could not take any more than 0.1 for that since this is an Excellent Read!

Legally Yours by Nicole French is the start of a romance series that checks a lot of boxes. Super hot and extremely rich guy? Heck yes. Ultra sassy and fiery woman? Absolutely. Very steamy and angsty scenes? Got it covered. Intriguing storyline and enticing writing? Done and done.

Skylar Crosby knows what struggle is. She hasn’t had it very easy and works very hard at making a better life for herself. Her tenacity and drive are very impressive. Brandon Sterling is the type of guy you want to know. He’s got a lot going and it’s all meant to draw you in. I was definitely interested and found him to be very powerful.

Together, Skylar and Brandon evolve into much more. Their characters transform along with their relationship. They help each other grow yet much remains hidden between them. Nicole French does a great job leading us down this winding path at a steady pace, ensuring the reader gets an optimal reading experience. She paints a vivid picture with her detailed descriptions so I found it easy to fall into this book.

There is still so much left to tell and two more books in this series. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author!

Oh man! Brandon Sterling and Skylar Crosby have got e VERY complicated relationship. He goes from just wanting sex to wanting it all! She learns about his past, and he learns more about hers than she had wanted him to learn. He really does sweep in like a knight in shining armor. There were most definitely some twists in the story. Some drama that I did not see coming. And of coarse there was a part that made me cry.... actually it was more like a couple parts that made me cry. The ending was a huge cliffhanger that I should have seen coming, but there was so much going on that it totally blind sided me! So now I am eager to get into the second book so I can see how this most recent drama plays out!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

No.

My heart ripped a little at the end of chapter 43.

French did one hell of a job telling this story. My heart was everywhere during this read. With the amount of detail French provides, you can't help but really connect with these characters. You feel every ounce of their happiness, pain, and sorrow. There were times where I was frustrated with the both of them, but you always find that in a great book. I loved watching their perfectly imperfect love story bloom with every passing page, and let's just say... she definitely left me wanting more. *Naughty, naughty* You can't hear me, but I'm tisking at you, Ms. French.

3-book series that I was really taken by. It's a bit different with a mob vibe to it which provides a heavy dose of suspense. And the hero has totally captivated me. Not so sure about his love interest quite yet -- she's a bit of a "yes/no/maybe/yes/no/maybe" kinda girl. Also I loved the law student element and the City of Boston with its Harvard influence. There are some really good lines of dialog and enough sexual tension to make me blush -- and that's not even counting what takes place against any surface available. HAAAWT!

I have decided to wait until I've read the entire series to do a one-for-all review. Hopefully, the series will continue to intrigue.

When I first saw this book I wanted to read it and thought it would be good. This was so much better than good. I loved it! I was in total shock that this was Nicole's debut novel. It is so well written and developed that it couldn't possibly be true. Don't get me wrong there are some great debut novels out there but usually you can see where there is room for growth on the author's part. You won't find that here. The writing was phenomenal, story plot well thought out and characters nicely developed.

Nicole does a wonderful job giving us the back story needed to understand Brandon and Skylar better and see how they came to be the people they are. Granted Skylar is a little young compared to Brandon, she hasn't had it easy with her family and past experiences that prevents her from really opening up and trusting, but she has persevered. She is strong, sassy, independent and takes no crap from others. This will make her a great lawyer. Brandon has it all, or does he, with his high powered job, strong, sexy and funny personality. But he is broken from a rough childhood. Skylar thinks he needs to be fixed but maybe he just needs her.

Intrading often like the character is enough to move on to the next book

I'm liking it overall. I really like this couple together, both just they're hanging out times and their steamy times. The character backgrounds are good. So it's frustrating when the Skyler doesn't talk to Brandon about the things that are bothering her. the times in the first half of the book where she works to be respected by him, and others. There's a few twists and turns. Those and some of the drama they create I'm totally here for. I'm looking forward to the next book but at the same time I'm hoping that Skylar gets better at dealing with things head on. I think the only reason in this case that it's fine she hasn't asked about a certain thing is because it could jeopardize her legal career. But it's her relationship with Jeopardy now so hopefully it gets resolved a little bit better in the next book.

Love Brandon, don't love Skylar.
She's just too much.
He's older than her, a very rich and successful lawyer, she's just about to be one.
But the drama about the money and her not accepting anything from him cause she's not into his money?! Ok, we get it. Just please fu**ing accept something and say thank you!

Otherwise, it was a good story.
But definitely, it could have been shorter.

Ends on a cliffhanger... two more books about them...don't think I will manage.

This was the first book I have read by this author and I absolutely loved it! I was immediately drawn to the strong emotions the author wrote into the characters of Skylar and Brandon. I think I went through all the emotions of the ups and downs of each of them as they came up in the book. I wanted to find out if Skylar could really love Brandon and he should be loved and if she would let Brandon love her the way he thinks she deserves to be loved. I was sad when the book ended as I wanted it to keep going. I will definitely read the second book in the series to find out what happens next between Skylar and Brandon!

DNFd at around 20% because 26 year old FMC, who is in her last semester at Harvard Law, did not know what a sociopath is.
