Her Honor, The Mayor
The day doesn’t start out well when Dr. Haven Hale finds a mutilated corpse in a bullet-riddled car in front of her dental office. When she calls the police, they respond in the person o thef handsome Sergeant Dan Marshall, as well as the crime scene investigation team.
Dan gets some satisfaction from the fact that Haven will finally have to speak to him. The beautiful, blonde dentist owes him—a lot. Still, she has never even thanked him for what he did for her all those years ago, and she feels guilty about that.
During the interview, she is polite and kind. When he leaves, Haven is about to thank him for what he did a long time ago, but her first patient arrives, and he goes. Haven feels sorry about missing the opportunity to say thank you. The reason for the omission is that her father, the wealthy Richard Hale, forbade her ever to speak to Dan.
The Hales and the Marshall Family have had a longstanding feud that dates back generations. Furthermore, Haven’s father, when he was alive, was a cold, stern man who was good at emotional blackmail.Furthermore, she was raised to keep her feelings to herself, a lesson she learned all too well.
Nevertheless, despite everything that’s against them, Haven has had a secret crush on Dan for years, but the reserved Haven is not good at making the first move, although she has courage in other areas.
Dan is very attracted to her, but he feels she is far above him socially. After all, she has inherited a fortune. She’s a member of the town council and a candidate for mayor of Maple Grove. He’s just a police sergeant.Dan also feels Haven is polite to him because she wants his vote in the upcoming election.
Besides, they may never have the opportunity to interact again…until Haven receives a death threat demanding that she drop out of the mayoral race. Dan responds to her call—but it’s not the last threat she’ll receive.
Someone wants to get rid of Haven…by violent means if necessary!
