After hearing that his father had died in Colorado, Brice Kemp takes his daughter Ann there to start a new life.

He is told that his father has left him the Circle K ranch, which creates an air of animosity and trouble in Powder Creek as soon as they arrive.

Brice is grateful when Friends of his father’s reach out to him, showing endless hospitality and support to himself and Ann.
Whilst joining them for supper however, he is offered an interesting job opportunity which would involve immersing himself in heavy violence and danger.

In order to give his daughter the best possible life, Brice is hesitant to take it, but soon sees that he has little choice...

He has not even had a chance to visit his Father’s ranch, when he is caught up in dark undercurrents that have spread many paths of danger throughout the county...

With his daughter and friends’ lives at stake, he has to take violent action, risking himself in the process.

Through a gruesome battle, Brice wonders if he will survive to set eyes upon his father’s ranch and whether he’ll be able to be the father he strives to be.

I received an E edition of this book in exchange for my honest opinion of this book. I really enjoyed this western. It's been awhile since I read something in the genre and it was a good way to dip my toes again. It was a fast paced novel. The main character Kemp is your typical lawman tough guy, but this book was a little different with him having a daughter. I really enjoyed the small amount of the family aspect. It had action that was believable and a couple of humorous moments that I wasn't expecting. The only negative I have about the book is the punctuation. He seemed to exclaim things (!) quite a bit and the exclamation points didn't match the dialog tags the author used. I would however read other books by the author, because it was an interesting read.

A Western About an Ex Texas Ranger Moving to Colorado

CM has ended a western about a man who was a Texas Ranger whose father died and left him his ranch in Colorado. He and his daughter arrive in time to be held up. He identified one of the man standing in a saloon at the bar. He becomes Town Marshal to stop the illegal activities and go to ringing the men who murdered his father. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
