Rate this book
From the African bush to the streets of London, from the souks of Tangiers and the concrete jungle of Hong Kong to the bling of Dubai and back to mother Africa; this is a riveting true story of what happens when an Entrepreneur tries, tries and tries and fails more times than he succeeds. A soul searching narrative full of highs and lows culminating in the creation of a Pan African consumer brand that eventually gets sold.
This is not a rags to riches story. Alpesh is living proof that in life we lose more times than we win. He talks about the dark side of Entrepreneurship and the challenges of maintaining the Human spirit to keep going no matter what. His journey confirms to us that our lives only really begin once we step outside of our comfort zone.
If you are looking to quietly tiptoe through life and hope to reach the grave safely then this book may not help you! However if you are looking to thrive regardless of what life throws at you and keep getting stronger and wiser in the process then this book will help you on your journey.
This is a memoir of a Soul TESTED

Initially, I thought that this would be a great book for all the entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs. But that is not the case, any body can read this book and enjoy. Get inspired!! It is about a journey and how actual life is, that is full of ups and downs and full of failures, insecurities and then few success!!You will find lots of interesting motivating quotes in the book. It is an autobiography but not at all boring. Rather sometimes you will feel as if you are reading a story of a movie or a fiction tale, since the book is written in a very interesting manner and with lot of clarity.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
A book written in a balanced way!

Blegh. Kind of a 'look at what I did' story that lacked the details you want to really get into the story of Alpesh. Maybe in Africa they call it 'hustle' and sure you can use the word, but it was so annoying in this book because it's hardly hustling, it's just business. I did really appreciate the frank presentation of this book which made it easy to follow along. I would have loved some closure at the end... I can't help but think this book was another business decision by Alpesh to make some money back without giving away any secrets about doing business for anyone looking for a business idol.

Alpesh's story sheds a light to the environment that entrepreneurs have to face in order to make it in Africa. As he points out, Africa might look as the last emerging market; however, there are a lot of hurdles that a true entrepreneur has to overcome in order to grow his/her business.
I liked the non-sugar coated, straight forward, unapologetic narrative throughout the book.
Alpesh really went through a lot and kudos to him for making it this far!
I would have liked if he mentioned more about his family life and how they had to cope up with him being away all the time.
