"Welcome to Topaz Falls, Colorado Elevation 7,083 feet"
Putting herself through nursing school, working as an EMT and taking care of a depressive mother with a drinking problem mean that Cassidy Greer can only hope to have time for a social life one day. She applied to a pediatric nurse residency program and also hope to move to Denver at the end of July. So she have less than two months to help her mom get her life back on track. She never took into account that Levi Cortez, her late brother's best friend and teenage crush, would be part of the plan.
Bull-rider Levi Cortez doesn't quite understand why Cass seems so pissed at him since his return after years of leaving after a bull-riding accident cost her brother his life. But he's determined to uncover it and to renew with her and once he realize everything that sits squarely on her shoulders, he'll commit to be there for her, no matter that she doesn't want his help. Cass won't make things easier for him; always trying to stay clear of him. But he won't make it easier for her either; always showing up, helping her, charming her, making her feel and just being his caring and sexy self :p
Renegade Cowboy was without a doubt my favorite of the series so far. If you read the previous books, you know there's something in the hero's past that is connected about the town and the family's dynamic but I liked the fact it wasn't the main focus of this book because I think it had already been settled in the precedent books. Each book was quite an emotional journey and I liked how we could follow the evolution of the reconciliation between the brothers who began as estranged and are now affectionalety bickering. Liked the complex connection between Levi and Cassidy too and how they handled it.
And I'm excited for the follow-ups because in Renegade Cowboy we are introduced to a group of bull and bronc riders and one lady who do barrel race. The Raines's Renegades is a group to which the hero belong and will probably (I fervently hope) be the next characters to get their story told :)
"This was enough. It was more than she'd ever dreamed."
Cassidy has had a lot on her plate since her brother died. She is trying to hold it all together and not ask for help. Sometimes though a little help goes the long way. The other issue she is trying not to deal with is sweet and sexy Levi.
Levi has come back to make amends and really find himself. When Levi first started this series you saw a immature and rather self absorbed guy who charmed the pants out of everyone. Now he is growing up and seeing the consequences of some of his actions. When his best friend died and he felt guilt his consequence of running was Cassidy and her mom. Now he must face them and right his wrongs. Only it isn’t just righting a wrong for Levi, it’s all out love for Levi. He sees Cassidy as a part of his future. Now he only has to get her to see him that way.
Cassidy is kind, stubborn and boy does she hold on to her hurt and anger. Especially when it comes to Levi. She was hurt when he walked away and didn’t look back. Both were dealing with death and Levi dealt with it in a way that hurt others. Now Levi is trying to get another chance and forgiveness from Cassidy and it isn’t easy. The girl is not very trusting. Her mom is a mess and she doesn’t know what to do about it. She wants to forward her career but to do that she needs to leave so even though she is attracted to Levi she doesn’t want anything to come of it. Levi is a patient guy though and starts a sexy and entertaining campaign of showing her how great they are and getting her to fall for him while only being a fling. His brothers wives get involved as well and it is a hoot to see. The attraction between Cassidy and Levi is palpable. Watching levi change is wonderful and seeing him with Theo and his new niece was swoonworthy. He is a teddy bear on the inside. It’s his actions that he doesn’t realize he is doing like his looks with his niece, his way with Theo that wear Cassidy down the most and it is good to see.
We get some sweet, sexy and precious moments. We see Levi work hard to make amends, grow up and find love. We see Cassidy slowly wear down but her stubbornness and fear almost costs her something wonderful. I do love how she finally lets her mother know how she is feeling. How her mother tries to gather strength for her daughter and help her to go pursue her dream.
The story is fast paced, entertaining and sweet with just the right amount of romance and drama. The intimacy is wonderful and hot. The characters have you love them from the get go. A great addition to the series.
This is a well done story that touches on several sensitive topics. The author did a great job handling them. The book is well written with amazing characters. Recommended

Forgiveness and trust are two of the hardest things to make amends. Can a bad boy bull rider wrangle his woman into his arms again and prove to her he’s here to stay? Renegade Cowboy by Sara Richardson is a sweet, charming western romance that will have you swooning for the cowboy in a heartbeat.
Renegade Cowboy is the third book in Richardson’s Rocky Mountain Riders series and can be read as a standalone. With that said, however, if you really want to see Levi and Cassidy’s relationship from the ultimate beginning, then I highly suggest reading Hometown Cowboy first.
All Cassidy Greer wants to do is succeed in life. From taking care of her mother, working to make ends meet and hopefully to start a life of her own; she wants the struggling to stop. Her life was great up until her brother died leaving her with no father and a mother who is depressed and gets her nutrition from a bottle. She wants the best for her mother and she is determined to get her back on her feet, but at what cost? What about Cassidy’s life?
Bad boy Levi Cortez has returned home from the rodeo circuit. After his best friend died he packed up and left leaving his hometown in the dust. Leaving Cassidy without a backward glance was one of the most disheartening tasks he ever had to do. Now he’s back and he’s determined to wrangle her to make her his. Especially after seeing her struggle with the life that was left behind. He knows he must make amends for the error of his ways, but can Cassidy eventually forgive him?
Sara speaks on some sore topics; unresolved grief and alcoholism however, she illustrates the scenarios and the emotions well. Not overstepping her bounds on these issues. Her style of writing from these subjects to the chemistry between the characters was marvelous and down right moving.
Cute, swoon-worthy with the right amount of sexual heat, giving you a wonderful cowboy romance right in time for the holidays. If you are a fan of western romances, then I suggest picking up this book and diving in… I suspect you might just get ‘roped’ in for a good time!
Cowboy romances are basically my go-to in this genre, and I loved getting to know Sara's work. In this story, readers get to watch Cass and Levi, her deceased brother's best friend, have a shot at the relationship they could never had had when they were kids. Of course, there are complications. Cass is finally going to take a huge leap in her professional life -- hoping to get accepted into a residency program in Denver (away from home). Levi has become a rodeo star and has never been one for settling down but he's returned to his hometown and is ready to make a difference there.
This book is seriously sexy but also handles alcoholism, grief, and, even, infertility, super, super well.
Also: there is a skinny dipping scene that my husband also found very unforgettable as he read over my shoulder on the subway. HAHA
Renegade Cowboy is the 3rd book in the Rocky Mountain Riders series but can easily be stand alone.
After his best friend, Cash Greer, was killed in an accident practicing for the rodeo Levi Cortez leaves town and goes on with his life. He's back in town atoning for his past. When he left town he left his second family, the Greer's behind including Cash's sister, Cassidy.
Cassidy life pretty much ended after her brother's death. Her mom, Lula since then has struggled with depression and alcoholism. Her father left after losing not only his son but his wife. Cassidy's whole life is now dealing with taking care of her mother and working to support them both. She is determined to have a life of her own and achieve her own dreams. But first she's trying everything she can to get her mom on track.
Levi is now just a determined as Cassidy for them to have a future together. They have a few things going against them; Levi having a high risk career with the rodeo and Cassidy's responsibility of her mom. Cassidy is the adult child of an alcoholic. She has been the 'parental' figure in their family for years.
This story hit pretty close to home with me. Having been married in the past to an alcoholic I could relate to everything Cassidy is going through. I had to battle through some old memories and feelings while reading this book. That got a little tough. The author did a good job covering the reality of life of the alcoholic and how it affects those around them.
Levi became my hero when he did everything he could to help Cassidy work on achieving her dreams even when that meant putting his ultimate dream on the back burner.
Cassidy is helping her mom and keeping a secret that could make or break her family even more. When Levi comes home and seems to be everywhere she turns, she gets the idea she needs to stay focused on her goals and avoid him at all cost. Levi has been home for some time now and trying to pay pence to the town he loves so much. There also seems to be some other things he might need to fix while in town and the only person he hopes to do that with is Cassidy, but can he prove to her that he's serious about it. Can he show her he loves and cares enough to break down the walls that she has put up?
I love the renegades and Charity hands down is my favorite she holds her own with three guys but seems to have a soft side to her too. I really enjoyed this story while it was a lot of back in forth, there was a lot of hurt that came off the pages from Cassidy. I truly felt with this book when you read it you are more or less catching up with friends instead of reading a book. I really also enjoyed the Cruz family and how no matter what happened in the pass they had each others back. This book does have strong language and adult scenes. However this sweet love story is so sweet and worth the read.
Cassidy Greer isn't in the market for love, between caring for her ailing mother and trying to finish up school and land the job of her dreams, there really isn't room for a man. But, there is one certain man that always seems to find a way to sneak into her thoughts... even if he is a bad boy cowboy that is certain to break her heart! From the moment her young, boy crazy eyes landed on her brother's best friend Levi, she found herself completely infatuated with him, he was the kind of man that girls dreamed about finding... even though they knew he was gone once summer came and the rodeo circuit started calling his name. But now whats behind those eyes is a far wiser woman, one that is a little more apprehensive about getting involved with a man like Levi. Yes, he's gorgeous as he ever was, but he is also still a bull rider that is bound to take her heart with him when he has to leave town...
Levi Cortez has earned his place high in the ranks of bull riding world, and now it is time to use his fame and small fortune to do good in the community he was raised in... and possibly win the heart of the woman he has always carried a torch for while he is there. But Cassidy isn't your ordinary woman, she has high ambitions of her own, and she doesn't seem to want a cowboy of her own...so needless to say he has his work cut out for him... good thing he is in it for the long haul!
Renegade Cowboy is a sweet little literary gem that is filled with humor, heart, and toe curling romance that is sure to have you blushing a time or two! In this third installment of the Rocky Mountain Riders series we meet two lovebirds who aren't really in the market for the forever kind of love, but one look at each other and they both know that there is something there that is too good to pass up. They both have baggage that gets in the way along the ride, but little by little they find a way to deal with it, and embrace this special thing brewing between them, and boy was it fun to watch them maneuver through all of it!! This one has it all, a swoon-worthy cowboy with a heart of gold and a sassy heroine who makes him work hard to gain her attention, and well crafted heartwarming story line that will keep you entertained from start to finish! Highly recommend this one, it's sure to have everything your wanting in your romance read and much, much more!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
Renegade Cowboy by Sara Richardson is a heartwarming romance that also deals with real life issues such as unresolved grief and alcoholism. This third installment in the Rocky Mountain Riders series can easily be read as a standalone.
Levi Cortez has undergone a great deal of growing up since his return home. He has finally taken responsibility for something his brother took the fall for many years ago and this has strengthened his bond with his family. Levi is also finally aware that he runs away when things get tough and his actions have consequences. After his best friend Cash Greer's death, Levi left town, essentially abandoning the Greer family who also treated him as a second son. Determined to make up for his past mistakes with Cash's sister Cassidy and her mom, Lulu, Levi realizes his feelings for Cass run much deeper than friendship. Given their complicated history and the situation with her alcoholic mother, will Cassidy take a chance on love?
Although Levi has matured a great deal since coming home, he is still very charming with a light-hearted, fun-loving approach to life. Despite his easygoing manner, he takes his responsibilities very seriously and he has kept the promises he made to make up for his mistakes. Levi is absolutely stunned once he realizes the gravity of the situation with Cassidy and Lulu but Cassidy rebuffs his efforts to lessen her burden.
In the years following Cash's death, Cassidy's family slowly fell apart. Now responsible for caring for her mom, Cassidy is finally on the cusp of attaining her career goals. Despite her excitement over the next phase of her life, she has very real concerns about what will happen with Lulu. In light of the losses she has suffered, Cassidy is very guarded and avoids taking emotional risks.
Levi knows Cassidy is "The One" for him and he eagerly devises a plan to woo her. However, he sadly underestimates her ability to ignore and evade him. Levi is quick to take advantage of every opportunity to spend time with her but Cassidy is determined to resist him. Theirsizzling hot attraction is eventually too strong to ignore and Levi proposes a no strings fling. Cassidy agrees to his suggestion but will she keep her emotions out of their arrangement?
Renegade Cowboy by Sara Richardson is a heartfelt romance that perfectly balances light-hearted fun and serious issues that are easy to relate to. Levi is truly remorseful for the mistakes he has made and he genuinely wants to right these wrongs. Cassidy is a wonderful young woman who takes her family responsibilities very seriously but she often put others needs ahead of her own. Their romance tugs on readers' heartstrings as Levi patiently gives Cassidy the time and space she needs to work through her fears. An absolutely delightful addition to the Rocky Mountain Riders series that fans of Western contemporary romances will enjoy.
This has been my least favorite book of the series so far. It wasn't bad, I just missed the romance and falling in love that we usually get. Levi already loved Cassie before this book even began, so there's no gradual realization of being in love. And his 'I love you' comes way before hers does, which is surprising for the hero of a book, but nothing wrong with that. It was just unexpected. He was a real sweetheart though, much to my surprise given how he seemed like a carefree and aloof type of guy before.
Cass was okay. I respected that she wanted to take care of her mother and others before herself. But the way she kept pushing Levi away anytime something got hard was just cowardly. I get she was protecting herself, but after the 3rd time it happened in the book, I'd had enough.
I loved Theo in this book. He was adorable before, but even cuter in this one as he aspired to be like Levi.
The ending was cute, but didn't go far enough into the future to really make me happy with Levi and Cass having a HEA. I can only assume they will, but I wasn't feeling the love as much between them as I had hoped and wasn't confident that Cass wouldn't run away scared again.
Sometimes a story will just wreck me emotionally, not in a bad way but in that breaks my heart and heals it back up again way. RENEGADE COWBOY was such a story for me. Since the start of the Rocky Mountain Riders series, I’ve watched Levi, in the background, dealing with his actions in his own way which is not the best way. I’ve watched him slowly change, lose the wrong part of the attitude, begin to see a different side to events and grow up in ways that were so needed. He’s becoming a good man with a past that he has to deal with, and others do as well.
Cassidy is dealing with a lot, far more than any young woman should have to… but that’s her reality. The last thing she wants to deal with, on top of everything else, is Levi back home and wanting back in her life. Too many years, too much anger, regret, and the past will keep Cassidy caught in that past unwilling to give Levi a chance at atonement or a second chance to break her heart. What follows is a heartbreaking romance that will heal two people, and perhaps others as well.
I enjoy an author who isn’t afraid to deal with life’s realities, with the consequences of actions or the deeper issues that we all face. Sara Richardson tackles a lot in this series, particularly in RENEGAdE COWBOY with emotional skill and an understanding of how humans work… the good, the bad, and the regretful. I enjoyed Levi’s and Cassidy’s journey to understanding, forgiveness and a love that will last through all that life tosses in their direction. I also loved catching up with familiar faces and new additions to this amazing family and series.
If you love a story that goes deep, that tells a tale of heartache as much as the joy of finding true love then you’d enjoy not only RENEGADE COWBOY but the entire Rocky Mountain Riders series, as well. I would not hesitate to recommend this series, and if you love a really good romance then you’ll be hooked quite quickly.
“I love you, Cass,” he murmured, careful that she didn’t hear. “And I’m gonna make you love me too.”
Look, guys, it’s been a long week for me as a reader. The last book I read made it damn near impossible to pick up anything else—let alone love it. I think I started and stopped four books . . . And then along came Renegade Cowboy.
The third book in Sara Richardson’s Rocky Mountain Riders series, it was just what I needed to break my slump. I’ve always said you can’t go wrong with a swoony, sexy cowboy and Ms. Richardson definitely proved me right. Levi Cortez was both of those things, and more.
This book was a warm, heartfelt and enjoyable read. Easy-going in that small-town romance way, with a thread of something deeper, which definitely brought the feels. I really liked most everything about this book—the meddling family, the cute kids, the Renegade friends—and it was written with such charm that I found myself thinking about this book often, even when I wasn’t reading it.
I can’t say it was perfect—I did, at times, wish that Cassidy was a little bit more open to Levi’s advances—but I can most definitely say that this is a book that is more than worthy your time. It’s a solid wrap-up to the tale of three brothers finding their way back to family, and a solid way to start something new, as I’m left with questions about Everly and Levi’s pals—in a good way, I promise.
It’s also something else, very important—the book I needed to get back on the reading horse, so to speak.
“You’re more than I deserve,” he said, easing his hands to her backside. “But I’ll do my best to earn you.”
Cassidy and Levi have such a sweet and sad past. It’s no wonder they found their way back to each other. But first, Levi has to tear down all the walls Cass has erected over the years. To be fair, Cassidy had to deal with a lot since Levi left town. That doesn’t make it any easier, though.
The ladies in Cassidy’s inner circle are truly the nicest women ever. I know the things they do to help Cass out are for her and not her mother, but really. As much as the narrative shows us that LuLu was a wonderful and caring mom for most of Cassidy’s life, the things she’s been putting her daughter through over the last 6 years are beyond unfair. And I have major issues with her father, although he’s not brought up too much. What this family went through all those years ago that changed them and tore them apart is terrible. It’s still hard to be sympathetic to Cassidy’s parents.
If you’ve read the previous books you know Levi’s backstory…which is no less heartbreaking. But you’ll also know that Levi has grown up a lot over the years that he’s been gone from Topaz Falls. And what he’s grown into is a sweet, caring, sexy, sympathetic, and scorching hot cowboy.
Cassidy’s push and pull with Levi’s emotions got a bit repetitive but were also understandable. The patience Levi showed with her really stole my heart. Especially the things he did for her, and how we went about doing them, toward the end. He’s a dream man.
I really love the people in this town. From all of the Cortez family to their friends and neighbors. I’m looking forward to learning more about all of them.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Hometown Cowboy (Rocky Mountain Riders #1) Comeback Cowboy (Rocky Mountain Riders #2)
This is Cassidy and Levi’s story. Levi did some bad things in his youth that he regrets but his biggest regret was leaving his friends family after he died. When his friend died he jumped at the chance to leave town, but he never forgot. When he moves back to town to be with his family after many years he runs into his friend’s family. He still has feelings for Cassidy his friends sister but years ago his friend warned him away. When he runs into her again he can see she is struggling but she is pushing him away at every turn. Can he get her to understand he is around to stay? Cassidy is finally getting her dream job only to have some family issues make her rethink her life and where it is going. Can she ever get her dream or will she always be left picking up the pieces? Can she trust Levi to help her out or will he be the one to cause her the most pain? If you love something let it go and hope it returns to you…….
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
Cassidy is trying to do it all. Take care of her mother, work, go to school to be able to get into the nursing program, with all of this what she does not need is for bull rider Levi Cortez to come back into town. Levi left town and has felt guilty ever since Cassidy’s brother died from riding a bull. His guilt has kept him away from the town and from his family. The problem is once he sees Cassidy he realizes he is more in love with her now than when he left. Her problem is she has had no time to grieve for herself. After the tragedy her father left, her mother started drinking more, and for her she has been the care giver and just about everything for her mother, she has spent know time for herself. This takes a while for Levi to understand and he has his own issues to work through. He is a bull rider, but can she really be in love with a cowboy that rides bulls for a living, while still taking care of herself. Read this fascinating story and find out what happens. A good story with many different characters. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

Will Levi be able to help her see a bright beautiful future? Will Cassidy be able to let go and enjoy herself for a change?
I have really enjoyed this series and each book just gets a little bit better. Can't wait to read more from Ms. Richardson.
*** Advanced copy provided in exchange for an honest review. ***
I know, I know. I’m a sucker for a cowboy. I can’t help it. There’s something about their take charge, capable attitude. Their devotion to family, hearth and home. Oh and maybe a wee bit on how (most of them) fill out a pair of Levi’s and/or chaps…. Levi is definitely all those things and more as he returns home to confront his past and, hopefully. make peace with it.
Cassidy and Levi have history, lots of it, but years have gone by and a lot of living in between. They share grief but also desire those years haven’t taken away. Cassidy is working hard to leave their small town, her plate is full and then some, but Levi wants to make sure he is right by her side…
Levi is a charmer as he tries to work his magic on a stubborn Cassidy. She fought hard but Levi was persistent. Oh and, for the record, Cassidy had a lot more will power then I would have, just sayin’….
A slow-paced, charming small-town cowboy read this author does so well… ~Diane, 4 stars
For years Cassidy has had one goal in mind, being able to leave her small town and complete schooling to become a pediatric nurse. But with her mother a semi-functioning alcoholic Cassidy doesn't feel she can leave her behind. Levi has spent years making up for a mistake he made years before and finding his place again in the town he grew up in and with the family he left behind. Levi was there when Cassidy lost her brother, his best friend, and has always felt guilty about what happened. Cassidy may be able to forgive him for that but losing him for years right when she needed him is a hurt she's having a hard time getting over. Can these two who have been in love for years work through him finally settling down and her ready to spread her wings? Or will a short term fling be their only option? Fun read that even though is the third in the series I felt read well as a stand-along with only a little bit of confusion.
Levi and Cass are an anomaly. What once was a strong friendship has become a chasm of painful memories and hopeless regret. Mistakes of the past leave Levi atoning and Cassidy mourning what was and can never be. Love, loss and immaturity had a hand in breaking a bond that could have been something more. Will fear, regret and the factors of life ruin their second chance? Sara Richardson is not afraid to tackle the tough stuff. Renegade Cowboy is a moment of redemption for a love that almost was but has yet to be. From alcoholism to life's greatest regrets and ever expanding moments of weakness, heartbreak is right on the sidelines pulling them in, but optimism is an even stronger contender at the finish line and refuses to let fear win.
Cassidy Greer lives with her mom. Her brother had been killed in a bull riding accident. So her and her mom have been there for each other. Levi Cortez is a famous rodeo star and could have anyone he wants but he has wanted Cassidy for years. He was also her brother's best friend. We are back in Colorado with another of the Cortez brothers. Cassidy is in the circle of all the women in the Cortez men's lives. so they are thrown together a lot. Cassidy would like to be with Levi but he is away a lot and she is going to Denver for a nursing program and she really is worried about leaving her mom. Levi is trying to come up with ideas to stay and be there for everyone. I have been enjoying getting to know the Cortez family and the women who are a part of their lives.
First book I've read by Sara Richardson, I will be going back and reading the other two books in this series and then start the Heart of the Rockies series. Levi is a bull rider, but not the normal that is written into a romance cowboy novel. He actually takes his health seriously. He gets a mild concussion near the beginning and when the doctor tells him he has to take 4 to 6 weeks off of the rodeo circuit, he listens. Good thing too, because it gives him a chance to romance Cassidy before she leaves town. He gives it 100% too. Cassidy is a little more apprehensive about his intentions though. She really makes him work for it.
Renegade Cowboy is the third book in Sara Richardson’s fun Rocky Mountain Riders series. Levi and Cassidy finally move past their shared past to realize they were meant to be; and, life is much better when they are together than apart. Longtime readers will enjoy the catch up with the other members of the Cortez family. New readers will enjoy meeting the Raines Renegades and the implication that they will all get their own story soon. I have enjoyed this series from the beginning and can’t wait for the next installment.
This was the story about the third brother, Levi Cortez, and his childhood friend Cassie Greer, the sister of his best friend. When Cassie’s brother was killed by a rodeo bull, Levi left to go on the circuit and left behind Cassie and her mother to mourn his death. When Levi finally came home to see his Dad and brothers, the old feelings for Cassie came flooding back but she was not open to a relationship because she had spent too many years being the parent in her family. Levi and Cassie both have things to work out before they can go forward. Good story
Levi just can't help himself at times, “we’re making out in my truck.” He couldn’t wait. Not when he’d already wasted so much time. He bent and lowered his lips to hers." Levi can sometimes be all animal-like, "he inched closer, the look on his face almost predatory. “You looked at pictures of me online?” I loved this book, I fell in love with Levi.
If you like country music with the ups and downs of daily life, you will enjoy Renegade Cowboy by Sara Richardson. Rodeo star Levi is a fantastic character and you will cheer for hometown girl Cassidy who clearly deserves a second chance at life! Much more than just a trip down memory lane for Cassidy and Levi, this book is a fun read and I read it in one sitting just to see the family drama resolved to my satisfaction! Thanks for the win!
Love me a cowboy (And I do have my own). Our hero is a bull rider who is famous for more than bull riding....the ladies all love him and he loves the ladies, just no one for long. He's come home after 10 years and making amends to his home town. Our heroine has known him her whole life, but wants nothing to do with him. And the sparks fly. Highly recommend.
Having read the first book in this series I was unsure if I wanted to read more but I did and I'm glad I did. This book had so much depth - the characters had so much depth. This was an engrossing story and the mains were truly wonderful with an intense connection that was rooted in the past and grew in the present.
Maybe it's partially because I was feeling under the weather while reading, but this book just didn't work for me. It felt more like filler connecting the first two books (featuring Levi's brothers) with later books in the series (featuring new characters introduced in this one). Levi and Cassidy supposedly have a long history but there was only a little "tell" and no "show" at all.
