I am loving this so far. The plates and maps show how the city developed and geography that dictates some of that layout. I am at a point in the book where St. Paul is the jumping off place for people who are settling the west. There was a boom in construction in the 1880s. For my place in 2017, I didn't imagine the turmoil caused by statehood, Civil War, and financial depressions happening within a few years of each other.

I haven't even gotten to the time where the custom house is being planned let alone built.

I borrowed this from the library. It would make a good coffee table book for the person who buys a copy, since it is both informative and attractive.
