This was a short novella for the book Shameless. It allowed me to get to know the characters, Lucia, her brother Rafe, his best friend Noah, and her grandmother Nonna. Lucia and Rafe had been through so much already, they lost both their mother and father when they were only six and 11 so they watched out for each other. Now Lucia is 15 and Rafe is 20 and he takes her to Coney Island for her upcoming birthday, what started our as a wonderful day ends up being the worst day ever for this brother and sister. I cried so much, even though it took only a second to read what happened, it was gut wrenching and I am so curious of what comes in the next book.

I was given this book for my honest review.

This book is a short, quick read that will leave you wanting more. Isn't that what a short read is supposed to do though? This author brings it further than that with the captivation of each character that will leave you swooning and needing a screaming towel.

Happy Sexy Reading

Lucia De Marco is a 15 year-old who totally loves her older brother Rafe, but work keeps him away a lot. In order to make up for that, Rafe takes a day off to spend with his baby sister and have some relaxed fun. When he gets a call from work that cuts their day short, he has to expose young Lucia to a side of his life he never wanted her to see, but time is of essence and he doesn't have a choice.
This is the prequel to the Shameless Trilogy and I think it couldn't be a better start. It gives the reader just enough to make you want to keep reading and find out what the future will be like for Lucia and what really happened to Rafe.

Lucia is still wondering who killed her brother 6 years ago the dreams come and go but she's determined to find out why. Noah is gonna protect Lucia no matter what he has to do. But Noah is starting to have feelings for Lucia and he knows with all the lies he should leave her alone. Very intense story so far that keeps you turning the pages wanting to know more and that ending total shocking! I can't wait to read more of this series! 4/5 stars ****Reviewed for Sweet & Spicy Read provided for a voluntarily Advanced Reader Copy of this book ****

This is a good short story to fill you in on the background of the trilogy. I liked that it gave nothing away. You don't know who killed Rafe or why. It helped to fill in some of the blanks in Shameless.

I think Lucia was crazy for what she did but I totally get why she did it.

Now the questions begin; who killed Rafe? Why? How did Lucia get out of the house unharmed? What was Rafe trying to stop and why? Seriously the questions just keep coming.

I'm now hooked to see what all of the answers are.

What this synopsis doesn't tell you is that this "prequel" is really only four chapters plus three chapters from the first novel in the series. Lame. So NOT A FULL LENGTH NOVEL. I'm so disappointed that I can't really say anything good about it, and I really hate it when authors give you so little plot that you are bullied into buying the next novel just to get closure. It's about as much as you would get from a Dick and Jane children's book. Dick and Jane go to the park. SIck wants to swing on the swing set. Jane wants to play in the sandbox. The End.

If you were expecting a nice love story, with maybe a little bit of bad boy thrown in--ARE YOU GONNA BE SURPRISED! Yes, this is a great intro to the series. Big brother who adores is little sister takes her to Coney Island for her early birthday present. She doesn't know he works for the gov. and will be on assignment on the day. They get called away from a great day to ....well you need to read this really short intro. NOw I need book one Shameless.

Nice...

I always enjoy reading anything from Minx or Nana Malone, so I was was super geeked when I found out about their collaboration with "Shame" and "Shameless". It was nice getting to know of Lucia in Shame and the added tease of her and Noah in first three chapters of "Shameless". I can't wait to finish reading this story in its entirety. I've already 'One Clicked' "Shameless"...

I loved this introduction to the series. I highly advised that you read this one first. Details. Details. Details. So excited to pick up the full-length and get to reading. Its a short read that give you the information you need to slide in on Noah and Lucia. I personally do not fell you will be disappointed with the prequel to the main event.

Read Shameless prior to this prequel!!! Trust me, it's worth it!!! Now, I have all these thoughts in my head of how the storyline is going to go, and I can't wait to read the rest of this story!!! This story just got a million times more interesting!!!

Please note that I did receive a free copy of this book. However, it's totally worth the 1-click!!!

Cute Prequel

I laughed so hard at the first two chapters in Shameless regarding the bedroom scene. I hope that was not the only cute and laughable parts of the book , Shameless.
This prequel was so sad. I hope Lucia regains her memory of the sequence of events that led to her brother's murder so she can bring closure to herself.

Great introduction to the Shameless series. I totally dislike serials or books in a sequence of one story. I expected and received a good intro to this new series. I look forward to the 3 books that complete this story. The author grabs you from the start and your gut tells you there's a lot to the trilogy. Maybe once it's complete it will be sold as a set.

The prequel to Shamless is very intense and filled with unexpected turn of events! Rafe , very sexy and a hunk died to quickly. Noah has the hotts for Lucia and he's turned up about her life outside of him... This sexy hot story can only get steamier and more intense! Great short read!!!

You will want to read the follow on book.
Be aware this is an extremely short glimpse into events that happen prior to but don't impact on the next book.
What happens in this is years before and is the background story that continues in the next book.
A very sad little prequel showing how life can go from a bright fun filled day to utter horror.

Tease

That's what this was. It was a tease! Can't wait to read book one. In this prequel you get the back story of Lucia and her brother and how he died. Then as a gift we were given a few chapters for Shameless.

Breaking my heart!

Lucia's loss has broken my heart. It took just a few pages to hook me into needing Lucia to find her happy ending. I can't wait to see her get her HEA. Unfortunately I feel it is going to be a rough road.

Shame is intriguing, the seed interesting enough to deeply want to go on with the Series. The trigger is half emotional half hanging. In just a couple of page, the authors are able to make us know Rafe enough to feel Lucia's pain ... and want to go on with the story. Which I most certainly will.

Shame...

This prequel is simply fantastic. It was short and intense. It put characters in place with an awesome backstory. It is the beginning of what seems to be a super Amazeballs series. With two amazing authors who I love and already follow how can it be anything less.

If you read Shameless then Shame is the day that changed Lucia's life. I wish I had the opportunity to read Shame before Shameless. This book sets up the Shameless Series. In my opinion it's worth reading especially if you are enjoying the Shameless Series.

Great prequel

Is Rafe really dead?...

The introduction to Noah Blake is tantalizing. He is ever bit of the bad boy protector. I am looking forward to reading the trilogy and watching the story unfold.

3.5 Stars!

A great prequel to the Shameless series. Lots of background details given to get you all set for the trilogy to come. Even with all the detail, no spoilers are given and it sets up the mystery nicely!
