I think I may say this every time but Leslie's imagination always amazes me.
This is the second book in this series and picks up when Mitch has gone back to Aftermath to get Ethan and then meet up with Gabe, Claire, and Honor at the mountain.
Because he's considered a traitor to Ronan's army he has to sneak inside Aftermath. He does that in a buggy of one of the traders. Her name is Kate. She doesn't know until he scares her to death.
It doesn't take long for Kate and Mitch to need each other for survival. The army is searching for them, and he is searching for Ethan. But when he finds Ethan he is not the same man as what Mitch once knew. It becomes more dangerous by the hour it seems. And they still have to talk Ethan into returning with Mitch to meet up with the others.
Kate has been alone since her family was killed during the asteroid shower that ended the world as everyone knew it. She has been able to keep the soldiers and other men from touching her so when she spends time with Mitch and she starts to feel things she hasn't felt before she is a little confused.
This second part of this journey to find out what the mountain wants gets a bit more complex even than the first and the journey to get there is more important to Mitch, he needs to find out what's going on and prevent Ronan from ruling the world.
It's in this book that we get Ronan's back story. As we find out more about Mitch, as well.
If you haven't read book one in this series you will want to do that to get the background you need for this book. But it's a fantastic series that you'll enjoy immensely, as have I.
