In Fal Doram, also called as the great empire of Inkredia, a conspiracy begins to unfold. The first step is an easy one – kill a simple, villager named Luwan. When Luwan suddenly faces an enemy straight out of the folklore, he is left dumbfounded by the mystery why they are after him. I cannot resist myself from the fantasy genre. Because the same genre made me a book reader. I owe this genre big time. No matter how old I become, no matter how realistic books I read, I can never deny a fantasy book. And if I get my hands on a fantasy books thought from basics like a map, country, belief system; saying no is not an option. I liked Inkredia - Luwan of Brida by Sarang Mahajan the moment I saw the cover page, and the picture of the map made me believe that it would be an adventurous ride not to be missed.
The story started with two dark scenes, a sorcerer wanted to catch a guy and another guy wanted to send a message to someone. Things became light as focus shifted to Luwan a youngster from the mountain village of Brida. Brida was ruled by a greedy and wicked Gruwak a vassal lord of the region. His greed had made the life of people in all surrounding regions miserable. One fine day Luwan denied monthly tax of 10 browns (coin). Gruwak was known for his cruelty, Luwan knew the meaning of denial. Hearing this bad news his elder sister Meg also came to his aid. But Luwan knew dices are rolled, nothing can be done now. His life was on the verge of death if he stayed back in Brida. He was given a mysterious book by his mother as a family possession. To his shock, except 101st page, he could not check any other page. On the day of unfortunate event book suddenly started giving hints to Luwan. The same evening they left for the city Narla, which Brida people called as the City.
The road to Narla passed through Maktra where Gruwak lived in his fortress. Their hunter friend Narjo helped them to leave the village unharmed. But actual threat came to them on the way to Maktra. They came to know about evil assassins called Ghork Riders chasing Luwan. The quest became impossible for them and they found themselves in near death situations. But their luck helped them and they met a merchant named Kiliarn, who agreed to take them to the City in exchange for silver coins. From that point onwards, it was impossible to just put down the book.
I hope I haven't given more details than I should. This is my first read in Indian Fantasy genre where I felt that it was competent of considering as a proper fantasy book. Though story somewhat resembles the Fellowship of the Rings, once you start reading the book you will start finding the differences. Book has everything that a fantasy genre should need, talismans, beasts, magic, ghosts, mysterious lands, etc. Author has kept suspense and thrill intact with pace. Sarang knew the importance of book series, while a single book can concentrate only on the main story line or subject, series should build a plot around the subject. Considering vast map given on the 2nd page, the story covered only 5% of geography, which made me more interested in sequels. One can only guess what will happen next. Apart from fantasy part, the author has equally maintained other aspects like humour, emotions, and action.
I finished ~400 pages book in 3 sittings. I am sure a pure fantasy lover will finish it in 1 or 2 sittings.

Living, breathing, fantastic worlds and environments.
Characters that generate strong emotions.
Magic/Abilities/powers that have a hint of realism
And above all, a strong plot & story arch.
Inkredia - Luwan of Brida works because it gets all of these elements right in a nice balance.
Inkredia is the story of Luwan from the small village of Brida set in the great empire of Inkredia. A simple forager by profession, Luwan soon becomes hunted by mythical assassins and dangerous magic creatures. As he is forced to escape for survival & journey through the unknown world outside his village, he faces dangerous challenges & has to solve new mysteries in order to survive. Riddled with questions and hunted by dark powers, Luwan makes a dangerous journey through the incredible empire of Inkredia. Will he be able to unravel the mysteries and reach his ultimate destination? What does the future hold for him?
Having no idea about the plot beforehand, the story was indeed incredible. It pulls you into the magical world of Inkredia, one chapter at a time. As the mystery unfolds, you are intrigued to know more, about Luwan, about the incredible cities, about the powerful magical creatures and the entire Inkredia Universe and it holds you right till the end. The chase sequences and the fight sequences were thrilling and probable the high point of the story.
There are just a handful of principal characters but they do enough to take the story forward. The gradual transformation of Luwan from a simple villager to a fearless warrior is well brought out. A special mention for the world building. From the dark enchanted forests to the haunted castles, from the tiny villages to the glorious cities, the writer crafts magical worlds effortlessly. The book also comes with a detailed map which helps you trace Luwan’s journey.
At the end, the story leaves many questions unanswered which will most probably be answered in the sequel. I do hope the sequel comes out sooner than expected. I think we have explored only the tip of the iceberg as far as the Inkredia universe is concerned and there is a lot of scope for many new stories to read and many new worlds to explore.
Overall, Inkredia - Luwan of Brida is an extremely well written story, set in a magical world with a great plot line. If you enjoy reading fantasy novels, you will surely enjoy this one.

It was the tagline of the book: “Danger looms tall. Mystery runs deep. that piqued my interest. I am always drawn towards a mystery. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the book.
The author, Sarang Mahajan, is an Indian screenwriter and writes fantasy TV shows. This book, first in the series of four books, takes us to the magical Empire of Inkredia where humans, animals and other supernatural creatures live in balance or do they!
Luwan, the eponymous hero of the novel, is a seventeen year old boy who lives as an herb collector in Brida – a mountainous region near the borders of the empire. He has recently left the sheltered existence with his elder sister, Meg, following an argument and starting to grasp the brutality of the oppressive tax regime levied by the tyrant Lord Gruwak. He gets into trouble with the tax collector and circumstances force him to flee Brida along with Meg. Oh wait! Did I tell you that he is guided by a magical red book?
I need to tell you Luwan is in a much bigger trouble – he is the victim of a terrible conspiracy hatched by powerful sorcerers and lords. That’s why not only the local brutes and ordinary soldiers are after him – Luwan is also chased by the lethal Ghork Riders – assassins who ride the dangerous Ghorks, are invincible warriors and can summon evil creatures to their aid.
I loved the way the character of Luwan evolved. During his journey the simple village boy would turn into a fighter. But, he would experience fear, terror, anger, helplessness, mistrust, sadness along the way. He is the relatable protagonist most writers are churning out nowadays.
Another fascinating character is Kiliarn – a swashbuckler with the observation powers of Holmes. With his two very special horses –Snow and Blaze he would agree to help Luwan & Meg flee to safety. He is quite good at subterfuge and can be pretty ruthless.
This book has everything one would expect in a fantasy adventure: lethal assassins, magical medallions & pendants, evil creatures, sorcerers, swashbuckling swordsman, weapons which chose their users (wands in Harry Potter universe, eh!) and what not. The action involving Kiliarn, Luwan and the Ghork Riders are pretty enjoyable – sword fighting, archery- fun to read instead of the usual gunfights in most thrillers. The chases involving the Ghorks or other supernatural creatures were quite suspenseful.
I liked the fact that Meg also had a part to play rather than be the conventional damsel-in-distress. I liked the relationship between the Meg and Luwan.
The twists at the end were good. The ending also gives the idea that something dangerous is about to happen pretty soon.
More mysteries kept piling up during the course of time and I hope some of the interesting creatures, artifacts, legendary warriors mentioned in the story would feature in the coming books.
A very interesting artifact mentioned is the Orb of Kirin Amor – it keeps the power of darkness at bay. No prize for guessing that something is going to happen to it – in the next book maybe.
There has been a spate of fantasy books in India. Maybe the trend follows the success of Amish Tripathi and Devdutt Pattanaik.
I am pretty new to the fantasy genre, recently added the Lord of the Rings series to my TBR. I have not read enough books in the genre to form a benchmark but, I can say that the author has done a good enough job. The writing is simple and as I have said before certain parts are real page turners.
If you love fantasy and want to read a lighthearted entertaining adventure then you could give this a try. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Set in the land of Fal Doram aka Inkredia, the book opens with a bang!!
The first scene is intense, heavy with sorcerers looking for something using their mystic ways. The next scene is even better as we are introduced to the magic system just a little. It instantly reels you in and doesn’t let you go until the end. The first two scenes really set the tone nicely.
Then we meet our protagonist. Luwan, a lad from the village of Brida. This is his story. A simple boy who gathers herbs and suffers to make ends meet and knows nothing beyond his village. How he becomes entangled in a tug of war with forces far beyond his comprehension for reasons he does not understand.
Run he must for he cannot stay. But to where? Where will he find respite and who will help him? With Meg, his sister in tow, Luwan runs for his life, being hounded by a foe he cannot hope to beat. The Ghork Riders! Vicious and Evil. Who want to take him alive but don’t mind killing him either.
As fate would have it, Luwan and Meg find themselves on the doors of a man named Kiliarn, who agrees to help them and take them far off to a city. But he sets forth 3 conditions:
“You will tell me no more than I ask.
You will ask no more than I need to tell.
And the price I say will be final.”
And so begins the chase.
Continuously on the run, riddled with dangers and being chased by creatures that should’ve only existed in myths, Luwan’s world is turned upside down. He is afraid for his life. Afraid for his sister’s life. Afraid if they will reach their destination. Afraid of facing the enemy. Afraid of facing his destiny.
Fear is good. Courage cannot exist without fear. It is an important part of our lives. Fear guides us in its own ways. But remember, fear is there not so you should let it defeat you, but so you should conquer it. Fear is there to make you strong, not weak.
Slowly we realize that there is more to the village boy than meets the eye and his character shapes up nicely. The little afraid boy who sets out on the journey gradually mans up enough to understand that this is his battle and he must stand his ground and fight.
No weapon – no matter how potent – can help those who do not pick it up and fight.
The story is very fast paced and filled with action. It never slows down and keeps you on the edge of the seat. The elements used are great and it reads like a true fantasy novel and the highlight of the book is the writing style of the author. Very fluent and very smooth. The world building is good and slow and gradual. There are no info dumps. Nothing complex.
What I really loved in this book is how the sub-plots resolved themselves while the main plot kept building upto something bigger and better. The book starts with mystery and ends with mystery. The forces that are at work have not yet shown themselves. The cogs are turning but as to why, it hasn’t been revealed. The book ends very nicely and sets the stage brilliantly for the next book which I hope will be a cracker. This book has laid some really solid ground work for the series. The books ends with a perfect mix of a little closure and enough questions left unanswered to make you want to pick up the next book right away, which sadly isn’t out yet.
And yet, I have my complaints.
There are elements in the book that seemed straight out of other famous fantasy books. I do not know if it was intentional or if it is that other books are just so wildly famous that we always go back and relate to them.
The Ghork Riders sounded almost exactly like the Nazgul from LOTR with their scary devilish steeds.
The white ‘special’ horses of Kiliarn that run like the wind reminded me of Gandalf’s horse Shadowfax.
The mysterious book of Luwan sounded like Tom Riddle’s diary that talks back but otherwise has blank pages.
The Nashque sounded like the Elder wand from HP, whose allegiance can only be won by slaying/defeating the previous owner.
There are also a few editing mistakes here and there.
Maybe I read too much into the elements. But I assure you, even with these elements, it is a book that will keep you hooked and it is simply amazing. The twist at the end is a very nice touch and adds to the mystery of it all. I love to read fantasy and to have read one from an Indian author just makes it that much special. It is very well written and more than redeems itself of any flaws.
I just want to read the next book in the series and want to see how Luwan proceeds with his life and where his destiny takes him. Can’t wait.

The first book of the Inkredia series is a joy to read.
Teeming with incident - unexpected meetings, betrayal, cliffhangers, friendship, magic and fantasy, Inkredia : Luwan of Brida follows the story of Luwan.
He had been living a perfectly normal life. Paying taxes on time, supporting himself well, being good to people and also being a friend. Until one day, he realizes enough is enough. He will not let the King's men take his hard-earned money.
He revolts. Utters a No on their faces. (O Oh, Not a great move I say!)
Surprisingly, the King's men returns without creating a fuss about it, only to come back with some more people. He knocks Luwan's door again. This time to take him directly to the King's court. (I told you it was a bad idea!)
Revolting against the authority would not be taken lightly.
What's more? Someone wants Luwan dead.
Intent on saving their life, Luwan and his sister need to move to somewhere safe. Hurriedly, they make a plan that isn't without loopholes but it will do just fine for the time being.
Where should they go? Why people unknown to Luwan are after his life? Who are going to help the siblings? Will they ever stop running? Are they really moving to a secure place or leading to the hearts of their enemies' world?
Being a debut, it felt magical. Page after page, the spell is cast upon the reader. The map of the kingdom was super helpful. An account of the nature of the characters in the first book has been done nicely. Now I eagerly wait to see all the actions and revelations in the next installments.
What impressed me most was the fact that the story took flight since the first few pages. With the mysterious men, innocent siblings and powerful magic all around the book, the author has fabricated the story incredibly.
Sarang Mahajan's book has a deterministic flow rarely found in a debut. The story doesn't stray off the track. A constant awareness about the plight and situation of the characters remain in the background, making you move carefully. The world-building is praiseworthy.
I would have loved to see more of Luwan's Sister, Meg. Accompanying someone who is being chased by powerful sorcerers takes courage and determination. Her intelligence is yet to be showcased completely.

Teeming with incident - unexpected meetings, betrayal, cliffhangers, friendship, magic and fantasy, Inkredia : Luwan of Brida follows the story of Luwan.
He had been living a perfectly normal life. Paying taxes on time, supporting himself well, being good to people and also being a friend. Until one day, he realizes enough is enough. He will not let the King's men take his hard-earned money.
He revolts. Utters a No on their faces. (O Oh, Not a great move I say!)
Surprisingly, the King's men returns without creating a fuss about it, only to come back with some more people. He knocks Luwan's door again. This time to take him directly to the King's court. (I told you it was a bad idea!)
Revolting against the authority would not be taken lightly.
What's more? Someone wants Luwan dead.
Intent on saving their life, Luwan and his sister need to move to somewhere safe. Hurriedly, they make a plan that isn't without loopholes but it will do just fine for the time being.
Where should they go? Why people unknown to Luwan are after his life? Who are going to help the siblings? Will they ever stop running? Are they really moving to a secure place or leading to the hearts of their enemies' world?
Being a debut, it felt magical. Page after page, the spell is cast upon the reader. The map of the kingdom was super helpful. An account of the nature of the characters in the first book has been done nicely. Now I eagerly wait to see all the actions and revelations in the next installments.
What impressed me most was the fact that the story took flight since the first few pages. With the mysterious men, innocent siblings and powerful magic all around the book, the author has fabricated the story incredibly.

It has been long that I have been reading this one. I have soaked the whole story in and would say I definitely enjoyed it more than any other Indian author's work, wrong to say that but that's how I feel. Well written with a god plot line- my concern was only not much was happening in relation to where the story is heading to, also a lot of things used were not entirely original. The young adult fantasy novel is a really good beginning to this 4-novel series. The writing of the author is really amazing, so many beautiful expressions - you can't help but appreciate it.
Some characters descriptions are amazing, however some go cold due to one major flaw - the weak world building. I wish it was done better, and I could imagine the magical and weird creatures explained in the book in a better way.
The plot is fast paced, and the closing of this book is extraordinary. It's the best part of the book!

Sarang Mahajan laid a solid foundation for the upcoming books in the series, and I can't wait to read them. It has incredible beasts, mysteries, riddles, ancient secrets, and lots of drama. If you're a fan of fantasy novels, you must read this book. I highly recommend it.

I haven't read fantasy fictions much. In this genre, I am an ardent admirer of GoT though. Whereas I think the main attraction of fantasy books is their writing style and description that makes them an unstoppable fast-read. This novel, "Inkredia-Luwan of Brida" justifies this trait of being an unstoppable read to a large extent.

The book is a running story of the protagonist for two days and two nights. A simple dweller of Brida village, Luwan, runs with his friend Narjo and sister Meg because he hasn't payed the tax to Lord Gruwak. He has a magic book with him which guides him in uncontrollable problems.

Lord Gruwak sends his men in the leadership of Nuak and Dedred to stop Luwan in Brida. He dodges them and succeeds to escape. On the way to Maktra, they come across strange creatures born with the writer's imagination- the Ghorks. Ghorks are terrible and fatal creatures and their riders are very brutal. Somehow there also, they try to escape, but in this process Narjo is slayed by a Ghork Rider.

When the two reach Maktra the book guides them and they meet the most important character of this fantasy- Kiliarn. Kiliarn is portrayed as a merchant at the very instant, but his valorous acts will compel you to doubt about his real identity, and that is the crux of the fantasy.

Kiliarn and his two unique voodoo horses- Snow and Blaze help so much the brother and sister (Luwan and Meg) that it was surely beyond of the worth of three silver coins on which Kiliarn had agreed to lead them their destination, the City. On the way of their journey, there are ghastly, devastating and devilish fights with Ghork Riders, demonic nonhuman like Scaburn, and deadly monster-dogs Griswans. All these enemies are defeated and killed by the mind-boggling tricks and tactful fight strategies of Kiliarn. Kiliarn is the character who will make you awestricken. It is Kiliarn who infuses courage to both brother and sister and they fight well cooperating him.

In the short fatal journey Kiliarn becomes their friend. He doesn't only save them from death but get through them to their ultimate destination also, Tashkrum. As it was Luwan's dying father wish that he must visit once Tashkrum in his life. And in Tashkrum, Kiliarn reveals the secret that he is a Monfrit, one of the most dangerous non-humans, and that he was following the orders of someone who had captivated him. Ghork Riders were also on someone's order, and it wasn't Lord Gruwak certainly. Thus, Kiliarn disappears leaving Meg and Luwan dumbfounded. Luwan meets there 'the Guardian of Destiny', and the novel ends. So, the suspense is well-maintained till the end. Hope it will be revealed in the next part- Inkredia:The Castle of Tashkrum.

When Luwan suddenly faces an enemy straight out of the folklore, he is left dumbfounded by the mystery why they are after him. As he makes a daring run to survive, journeying through the unknown world outside his village, new mysteries emerge, some closely concerning him. Riddled with questions and hunted by legendary assassins, and by the non-humans made of the darkest element in nature, Luwan makes a dangerous journey through the incredible empire of Inkredia.
About The Book - This is I suppose my first Fantasy book that too written by an Indian Author. The book is set in the World of Inkredia, where, all the dangerous creatures looms under the shadows. Our poignant Luwan from a small town Brida declines to pay the monthly tax to Lord Gruwak and is on a run with her sister. Luwan’s mother left him with a few belongings including a Pendant, Book (Magic Book) and his father’s letter. His father urges him in the letter to visit a far off land. To visit there is a family tradition for every heir to visit there once in a lifetime. On the embarked journey he’s being chased by the various dark creatures. Luwan gets the help of his friend to escape them. He along with his sister flees the town. Later as their journey proceeds, Luwan finds another companion, Kiliarn, who to them is like a Sorcerer with a lot of magic tricks and is clever to even get rid of most devious and Evilest of creatures.
Throughout the journey, they are been faced with many an adventure, Non-Human creature, Wall spirits and what, not more. Luwan keeps on getting weird dreams and vision of some distant city, its tall booming Castle and A Girl. What happens at the end when they reach upon the city is what made this book so good for me. The turn of events at the last made me appreciate the book and greater extent and made me yearn for more.
The author did a tremendously well job of creating a world among itself. The book looked a bit inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Lord of The Rings’. But I really enjoyed the whole book and now, is waiting for the second installment in the series, ‘Inkredia: The Castle of Tashkrum’.
Conclusion - Best Fantasy book I read with proper narration, that’ll make you enter in a totally different world.

I haven’t read much of a fantasy fiction as its not my preferred genre, wanted to try from a long time though. So, when I heard about this book and got to know that this was written by an Indian author I wanted to give it a try. I was more than happy to attempt to read this one since it was not another interpretation of our mythology but an original plot.
The story revolves around Luwan a 17 year old boy and his elder sister Meg. It starts with Luwan denying to pay any kind of tax to Lord Gruwak of Brida and now he wants to escape from that place before he gets killed. The plot is kept simple in the beginning but as it moves on it gets complicated especially once Luwan and Meg start their journey. They go though lots of hardships throughout and Luwan learns many things about himself and his parents on the way, including some of his hidden powers. The journey is full of challenges but Luwan and his sister gets lucky every time escaping them with the help of some supporting characters. It’s got everything a fantasy book requires I guess, action, adventure, emotion, lots of strange animals and scary and imaginary things and of course magic! It was strange in the beginning to imagine these stuffs since I am not used to it but I started liking it as the story moved on. The plus point of this book is that it’s fast paced and well written. The book never bored me nor did the language both were smooth, which I least expected. The twist in the end was great and unexpected.
I was hooked with story from start to the end. I have literally carried the book everywhere till I finished it. Author Sarang Mahajan’s imagination is really appreciable, since I haven’t read any fantasy book I have nothing to compare to so I really liked this one. Yeah, I wanted a better characterisation and background of the main protagonists which I didn’t find in this book but hope to find in the next. I am curious to know how Luwan and Meg survived in the new city they went to. That means I am looking forward to read the next book in the series.

Writing a fantasy is tough. It provides you immense freedom since you have no limits for your imaginations. Noon would say it never happens in real life as it's fantasy. But it gives equal amount of responsibility as the fantasy should be convincing and extraordinary simultaneously.
Sarang Mahajan, through his book Inkredia has made use of the possibilities of a fantasy and delivered a convincing and enchanting tale of Luwan. Luwan of Brida is forced to leave Brida as he refuses to pay taxes to Gruwak. While counting on the possibilities to face the situation, Gruwak comes across General Rominan, a magcal books, which, through riddles tell him to leave Brida. Along with his sister Meg and with the help of his friend Narjo, Luwan sets out to another world, unaware of the secret behind his life.
The book is full of magical characters. The nail biting suspense and adrenaline rush of actions forces the readers to cling on to the book. The characters are given enough space to develop and the sequences are connected well so s to maintain the pace of the book. The narration is also commendable. Overall author has succeeded in holding the attention of the readers who are not interested in the genre too. Author could be invariably called an Indian J.K.Rowling

Inkredia is a fantasy book that gives you a terrific reading experience. Fast paced and brimming with suspense, this book keeps you glued to it till the very end. Luwan is a 16 year old boy who finds himself amidst grave danger and in a situation that is both chaotic and confusing. Trying to escape death by a hair's breadth along with his sister Meg, his journey is exhilarating to read it. Finding a very efficient companion in Kiliarn, these siblings are on a perpetual run.
The story picks up quickly and never drops during the entire length of the book. There wasn't a single thing that didn't appeal to me. The book ends at a cliffhanger so good, that being curious about the next book in the series comes naturally to the reader.

I am really thankful to the author and publisher for giving me a chance to read and review this book. At the first sight, the title and book cover itself gives it an intriguing look. I was super excited to read this book. Though I was not sure if I will like it or not as I am not much into the fantasy genre, but after reading this book I am going to explore more such books!

Set in the fictional world, Fal Doram aka Inkredia the book starts with an interesting yet intriguing note where a sorcerer named as Klaurus is calculating something and asks a goblet to show the person who holds Narsirim. On the other side is a prisoner who has been into captive since centuries.
Then the story moves to Brida, where a young boy Luwan lives on the hilltop. The Brida is village which comes under Lord Gruwak and the citizen of here lives in fear. The citizens have to pay a heavy tax to lord, whereas people earn very less. They are not allowed to leave the village.
Luwan is a herb collector and makes a living from this. There was a time when his parents were in the council of the Lord. Unfortunately, his father and mother are no more. He also has a sister named Meg, However Luwan left her home due to some petty fight. His mother has given him a pendant, having a silver spiral in it and a book which is blank. His father has left a letter wishing him to visit Tashkrum and meet a person named as Shenoble.
Luwan, who hardly earns to survive refuses tax collector to pay. Death is the sole punishment for this. Meg after hearing this comes to his hut and got to know that Lord Gruwak’s men are coming for him. Confused what to do next, Luwan opens up a book given by his mother. He finds out the solution in form of a riddle and decides to hold up his and Meg’s life and run away.
Luwan’s best friend Narjo helps them and they manage to run safely from Brida. But what waits further is something interesting to read. They are followed by Ghork riders, mystical devil creatures that eat human flesh.
Is the simple villager Luwan manage to run safely? Will they able to survive from the fist of Ghork Riders? Why are they behind an ordinary boy? What are the dangers looming ahead? Will they able to reach their destination?

My perception:
I simply enjoyed this book. The plot is strong and the author’s writing skill has made it flawless. I can literally explain the whole story in one goes. If you are in a mood of reading something super adventurous then do pick this book without any second thought. This book is adorned with a great fantasy and is an ultimate entertainment package! Highly recommended!

Inkredia, Luwan of Brida by Sarang Mahajan is a fantasy book filled with creativity and enriched with pages of imagination where humans and nonhumans breathe together in balance, as a seventeen-year-old boy has to make an intrepid choice simply to discover that his danger is far grander than his calculations.
Luwan discovers himself in a momentous danger as the settlement that kept him anodyne all these years can't guard him any longer. Either he can stop and perish or he can go into the precarious domain outside and take an expedition to a conurbation that will save him and his sister.
Nonetheless, that is a virtuous gamble as this expedition itself can eradicate him and as he sets out, he heads into an enigmatic new adversary of an ensemble of well-known murderers that are commonly sent to bring down kinsmen of inordinate command.
Luwan is oblivious why they are after his head, but they don't offer him the indulgence to discover a response to that query. He is flung into an unyielding course athwart a boundless expanse and, as he moves, he crams nearly all the captivating places in Inkredia, and finally has to faces the prodigious might of Ilmor that gives birth to implausible nonhumans.
A fascinating book that can be read with ease and with so many fantastic characters that will open the mind of the reader. The language is simple and we read the book with great pleasure. It stimulates critical reflection on the world around us, and leaves the reader many insights on the land of Inkredia!
With imagination and creativity, the author invites us and welcomes us to understand the world of fantasy and above all to learn to face challenges. With fantasy, imagination, creativity, the book possesses all. The world in which the author takes us is something open, sometimes bizarre and strange, inside of which has its own dark forces.
As the title suggests, Inkredia is an incredible land and I find this book an absolute gem, especially for those who love the world of fantasy from the relics, artifacts, design and the magical dark forces. With an extremely simple and understandable language, sometimes ironic, the book is suitable for children as well as adults, and the author will open the mind of the reader.
The book opens our mind, and makes us feel small because the imagination sometimes makes things becoming large that will make you passionate about page after page and that will make you switch off from the outside world, and so I say it is highly recommended for all ages!
Luwan discovers himself in a momentous danger as the settlement that kept him anodyne all these years can't guard him any longer. Either he can stop and perish or he can go into the precarious domain outside and take an expedition to a conurbation that will save him and his sister.
Nonetheless, that is a virtuous gamble as this expedition itself can eradicate him and as he sets out, he heads into an enigmatic new adversary of an ensemble of well-known murderers that are commonly sent to bring down kinsmen of inordinate command.
Luwan is oblivious why they are after his head, but they don't offer him the indulgence to discover a response to that query. He is flung into an unyielding course athwart a boundless expanse and, as he moves, he crams nearly all the captivating places in Inkredia, and finally has to faces the prodigious might of Ilmor that gives birth to implausible nonhumans.
A fascinating book that can be read with ease and with so many fantastic characters that will open the mind of the reader. The language is simple and we read the book with great pleasure. It stimulates critical reflection on the world around us, and leaves the reader many insights on the land of Inkredia!
With imagination and creativity, the author invites us and welcomes us to understand the world of fantasy and above all to learn to face challenges. With fantasy, imagination, creativity, the book possesses all. The world in which the author takes us is something open, sometimes bizarre and strange, inside of which has its own dark forces.
As the title suggests, Inkredia is an incredible land and I find this book an absolute gem, especially for those who love the world of fantasy from the relics, artifacts, design and the magical dark forces. With an extremely simple and understandable language, sometimes ironic, the book is suitable for children as well as adults, and the author will open the mind of the reader.

Incredible Inkredia
To be very honest I was a bit skeptical about this novel but it turned out to be a real good one. This is probably one of the very best work in high fantasy by an Indian writer. The whole Inkredia universe is quite fascinating with all those detailed maps and numerous magical creatures. The prologue (no matter how small it was) is mysterious enough to keep you invested in the book. In fact this small prologue had 2 different plots and both were equally interesting. The main story was comparatively quite simple and to-the-point. It started with Luwan's escape from Brida with his sister Meg after refusing to pay unfair taxes, again there was a twist with a deeper plot running alongside a simple chase for two villagers.
The inclusion of magical creatures / nonhumans made it thrilling. Honestly! I didn't expected these many magical creatures. Though a few of them like Ghork Riders were a bit inspired from some other fantasy classics but then there were few unique ones as well. I specially like the concept of Wallspirit, it was so simple yet so perfect. There were various other nonhumans as well such as Scaburns, Grishwans, Monfrits, Smokemen. I would have liked it better if their powers were explained properly like wallspirit's. In fact there were few nonhumans (Merdit for example) mentioned in the book which didn't make any appearance what so ever in this first part. But then there are few more parts of this series so we shouldn't loose hope.
There were few other things which could have been better. The numerous near-capture of Luwan by Ghork Riders were enthralling initially but I found it repetitive and boring after 3-4 times. Thankfully when I was beginning to get frustrated it ended nicely. The introduction of kiliarn and the fight with Scaburn and Grishwans in between those various close encounters with Ghork Riders helped to keep the interest intact. Another annoying part was Luwan's various attempts to shield her sister by doing something stupid. I overlooked it once or twice but after that it was irritating a bit. But just like the rider's story it ended before spoiling the novel and I was glad to meet the confident and not-so-stupid Luwan.
Just like the prologue last 2 events of this book increase the expectations from next book. It's definitely a book worth reading for anyone who like fantasy genre and I am really hoping that the next book will be published soon.

As they fle from the homeland and start an adventure trip to unknown they are persuade by dark and evil forces, which has extraordinary powers and abilities that can not be stopped by comman man such as Luwan and his sister.
Soon they find someone who can help them and they joined journey with this mysterious person Kiliarn who somehow is a man of extraordinary powers and abilities himself.
With the trio has Blaze and Snow most amazing horses.
With help of Kiliarn and his horses Luwan of Brida starts a journey which will take him to unknown destiny and readers to an adventure trip which you will enjoy in each page of the book.
Story is well written, characters are very realistic and I really like the imagination of author as he has created his own dark creatures, such a fine imagination.
Of course Kiliarn is my favourite character of the story. As he helps the siblings to reach somewhere where the destiny of Luwan awaits.
I am really glad I picked this book for review. It's totally true to the words on the cover.

First and foremost, a thanks to Gloryburg Publishing LLP for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
I liked the book a lot. There were a few issues, like the pace of the book. Sometimes it felt as if we are just jumping from one obstacle to another, without giving a chance to our characters to develop.
But then last 75 pages were a treat! And now I am eagerly awaiting the next part! I want to see what is next in store for Luwan of Brida.

I found the title pretty interesting and the cover is beautiful. The main protagonist of our story is Luwan, he lives in Brida. Brida is part of the Inkredia empire and is ruled by Lord Ghuwak . One day Luwan refuses to pay the tax collector his due, which puts Night guards behind him.A book which was passed on by his parents, instructs him to escape Brida.With the help of his sister, Meg and friend Narjo, Luwan manages to escape. When the legendary Ghork riders start to hunt him down,Luwan has to put everything on line to survive.

Why are they hunting Luwan?
It was an interesting, fast paced story,I didn't feel bored at all . Though the plot and elements were similar to other fantasy novels, a great attempt by an Indian author. I loved the narration, it was perfect for the story, no grammatical or spelling mistakes. I didn't feel like I was reading an Indian author, some Indian authors simplify the language too much.The book has a map in the starting which shows all the parts of Inkredia , which helps in understanding the story better. I'm looking forward to read the next book in the series.

I actually had no clue about this after reading the title and it made me think for quite a time about what can be the possible story behind this title; but it was literally out of my box what was awaiting me in the pages. The tagline made me anxious about the story, and after reaching a particular segment of the story, I understood what the title is all about. It is a ‘name based title’ it goes perfectly with the story of this part of the series, hence I consider it appropriate.
Language & narration: Language of the book is classy & lucid enough to comprehend for any kind of reader. Keeping the theme of the book in mind, author has words some potentially rich words to ornament the sentence at places & that proves how flawless the language is. The narrating style of the author is the 2nd most positive strength (after the plot of course) of this book I must say. The story is in third person narrative and the vividly descriptive fast paced engaging narration of the incidents one after another is capable enough to keep any reader at the edge of their seat for sure.
Plot: The plot is the first & foremost prime strength of this series & of course this part one volume of the 4 segmented “INKREDIA” series. I am keenly in fond of adventurous & mystery tales, but when it merges with ‘Fantasy’ genre, I am unable to resist myself getting hooked with the book till the end. Yes, here is the same thing I will say that, the plot of this book has been crafted so thoughtfully by the author & developed even better with the breath-taking narrating style at the story demand, that it will capture the reader’s entire attention without even lacking a moment till the very end of the last of this book 1 of INKREDIA series. There is several sub plots that are interconnected with the main plot which will come into the picture of a major turn in the story at the beginning; and the innumerable twists and revealing made the book an actually a faster and thrilling read. Writing Fantasy & then putting the blend of mystery, thrill, emotions, horror, adventure in that with right proportion isn’t an easy job to do, which the author is seemingly successful to do effortlessly.
Setting: The setting of the story is in a fantasy empire called ‘Inkredia’ / Fal Doram- Floral Bak; precisely in Brida (a small village). The other places that will appear as per the story needs are- Meishka valley, Maktra, Malingo Mountains, Angor, Narla, Nara River, Nedra, Tashkrum.

Story in a nutshell: The story revolves around the lives of two siblings named Luwan (17 years) & Meg (19 years). They belonged to a small viallge called Brida, which was situated at the farthest corner of the Emperor Inkredia, located at the foot of the great Malingo Mountains. Lord Gruwak was the wicked ruthless dictator of there and Brida came under his domain. The pathetic torture & punishment of Lord Gruwak was beyond any description & tolerance level. The main story starts when Luwan (who was living in a hut at the hilltop, separately from his sister Meg) denied the tax collector of Lord Gruwak’s to give the payment. Nobody in the village had the courage to do such things that could face them the wrath of Lord Gruwak. But situation made Luan to do so. Things started to take a different turn when Meg joined him and to escape the punishment of Lord Gruwak, Luwan decided to elope & leave Brida. That was the bravest (and deadliest as well) decision anyone could never even think of, because one of the strict rules of Lorf Gruwak was that nobody won’t ever leave Brida, the last person to do that faced the ultimate punishment of death instantly. But Luwan had to save himself from the outcome of the mistake he committed already, and he decided not to leave his sister there, otherwise she will have to face the gruesome wrath of the Lord. Luwan realized that this time he messed with the wrong person and there was no other way out except leaving Brida the soonest with Meg. Unfortunately, destiny made the siblings orphan at early age. My Verdict: Author has penned down a breath taking journey of thrill, mystery, and nail biting adventure in INKREDIA. I was speechless when I reach the climax of this Book 1 of the INKREDIA series. I literally lived their journey with Luwan, Meg, Narjo & Killiarn, Snow - Blaze and the Ghork Riders. Each and every encounter gave me goosebumps instantly. The entire book is based upon the dreadful hunt by the Ghork Riders and I was feeling lump in my throat when I was going through the War scenarios. The close encounters made me shut my eyes even for few seconds. Yes, it was that impactful on my mind! The way the author brought the turns in the story & the major twist was out of my farthest imagination, I admit. I was literally visualizing the phases, whether it is the thrill, or siblings love and concern for each other, their desperate attitude for survival, the history of Inkredia, the legacy, the horrifying terror of the Ghork Riders, the braveness of Luwan & Meg, the genuine friendship of Narjo, the fear of death, the magical spell, and last but definitely not the least Killiarn…this character has taken the entire charm away along with him.. Author has sent me in such a World with his canvass like writing that I truly wish not to return from there. This book captured me entirely and I will be eagerly waiting to go through the second volume (“INKREDIA- The Castle of Tashkrum) of this 4 Book Series of INKREDIA. Let the journey continues…
Recommendation: I’d definitely love to recommend this ecstatic journey of thrill, mystery & adventure to each and every fantasy lovers out there and to everyone who are in fond of nail biting thrilling read. This book is a must read for them. Thank you.

Nobody in the village had the courage to do such things that could face them the wrath of Lord Gruwak. But situation made Luan to do so. Things started to take a different turn when Meg joined him and to escape the punishment of Lord Gruwak, Luwan decided to elope & leave Brida. That was the bravest (and deadliest as well) decision anyone could never even think of, because one of the strict rules of Lorf Gruwak was that nobody won’t ever leave Brida, the last person to do that faced the ultimate punishment of death instantly. But Luwan had to save himself from the outcome of the mistake he committed already, and he decided not to leave his sister there, otherwise she will have to face the gruesome wrath of the Lord. Luwan realized that this time he messed with the wrong person and there was no other way out except leaving Brida the soonest with Meg. Unfortunately, destiny made the siblings orphan at early age. So they had no strings attached in Brida. With the help of the one and only closest friend (a Nenthurian hunter) Narjo, they set out for a journey to reach (planned for) Maktra and cross the Wall of Matra. Since the beginning of the dangerous journey, they started to face such perils that needs ultimate bravery & trick to escape, but Luwan had no idea that they were being chased by the ‘death’ itself! My Verdict: Author has penned down a breath taking journey of thrill, mystery, and nail biting adventure in INKREDIA. I was speechless when I reach the climax of this Book 1 of the INKREDIA series. I literally lived their journey with Luwan, Meg, Narjo & Killiarn, Snow - Blaze and the Ghork Riders. Each and every encounter gave me goosebumps instantly. The entire book is based upon the dreadful hunt by the Ghork Riders and I was feeling lump in my throat when I was going through the War scenarios. The close encounters made me shut my eyes even for few seconds. Yes, it was that impactful on my mind! The way the author brought the turns in the story & the major twist was out of my farthest imagination, I admit. I was literally visualizing the phases, whether it is the thrill, or siblings love and concern for each other, their desperate attitude for survival, the history of Inkredia, the legacy, the horrifying terror of the Ghork Riders, the braveness of Luwan & Meg, the genuine friendship of Narjo, the fear of death, the magical spell, and last but definitely not the least Killiarn…this character has taken the entire charm away along with him.. Author has sent me in such a World with his canvass like writing that I truly wish not to return from there. This book captured me entirely and I will be eagerly waiting to go through the second volume (“INKREDIA- The Castle of Tashkrum) of this 4 Book Series of INKREDIA. Let the journey continues…

Inkredia is an awesome book with elements of magic, paranormal beings, conspiracy, secrets and jaw dropping twists. The secrets that were revealed by the end of this book left me awestruck. It created a fantasy universe of its own where readers can get completely lost in the world of Inkredia. Every character in this book was described in a detailed way where it becomes easier for the readers to picturize the complete scenario and get indulge in it. My favourite character from this book is Kiliarn who was like a guardian for Luwan and his sister Meg in their entire journey. The courage, tricks and planning of Kiliarn was amazing and it made me fall for the character.

With Inkredia, what starts as an immature attempt at writing a novel, quickly escalates into an academic and dry dump of Sarang Mahajan's plot conception. So, it's not really a surprise that this wannabe fantasy "epic" fails miserably to deliver anything remotely that can be called prose. The guy is in a rush from word go to have his fantasy ingredients thrown into the cookpot- ‘Ghorks’ replace ‘Nazguls’, ‘Ghork riders’ replace ‘dark riders’, ‘The Delightful Tavern’ replaces ‘The Prancing Pony’, ‘Aragon’ has to make way for ‘Kiliarn’, ‘Frodo' for 'Luwan’, and whatever half-baked such stuff. The supposed creativity of Inkredia is a shameful derivative of better books in the fantasy genre, making a stupendous mess of it.
Sarang uses endless adverbs and adjectives in his dialogue tags, which ironically are rare and highly monochromatic. There is no doubt that he struggles with his limited vocabulary, often resulting in a rough narrative. This in turn causes lots of repetitive descriptions, leaving no lasting impression he tried desperately at. The world-building and its populating lore turn out to be scores of pages, word upon word, about directionless map names. The intention of invoking a sense of vastness for Floran Bak thus ends in a debacle. The plot itself is a senseless floundering misstep- “Luwan of Brida” is meant to be an opening to a planned trilogy; most of which is a complete wreck juggling the supposed mystery (whatever it is meant to be) and the actual in-book events of three people being chased by three people. That is pretty much all there is to it. The pacing further deteriorates the narrative with a futile pursuit to build the scale, and yet skimming half the map in two nights. Weather, landscape, and outlay of scenery, all transform rather drastically within a day’s horse ride from starting point of Brida. There is no impression of any natural flow but an artificial forced setting that exists just for the sake of the plot.
Sadly, this is not even the main problem. Inkredia is hollow and empty with its poorly sketched less than one-dimensional characters. As I mentioned, there are only three to speak of, and the rest of the world's population is like some faint background noise. Out of these three, if you can’t tell two apart, especially considering that one of them is a woman, that is some fiasco! Mostly it will be protagonist Luwan’s simplistic monologues that the book throws at you. And when characters are allowed to speak, Luwan and his sister Meg will mostly exclaim back something uttered by their mentor Kiliarn. Be it a name of a city, weapon, character, or demon- everything kind of surprises them. In an attempt to perhaps sketch them as naive, the author ended up making them look like morons. Also, all of them are typical stereotypes that have a little personality to speak of, the cardboard cutouts that are placed too far into “fantasy” without any flesh or soul to be cared about. A little something called “character progression” might have at least provided saving grace.
Mundane structuring, non-existent plot, dumb characters, and amateur writing style, all hurt Inkredia. One star for the attempt, and not trying to re-do Mahabharata or Ramayana.

For me it deserves: 4.5/5.0
Luwan of Brida.. amazing, enjoying and enthralling.
Its not just a book, its a world I went into. Amazingly written this novel is seriously worth reading. Very Gripping story and fascinating theme. Cast were set nicely and story-line cast so well. The world that has been created inside is too amusing.
I usually don't have a habit of retelling the story in my reviews so it will be short and precise and will carry the good-to-go content mysteriously with it. Its about a boy who's saving him while in search of the place where he has to reach in order to fulfill his father's last wish. He is supported by his elder sister who by all means depends for her safety on his brother, as well. In-between the incidents that happened made the story full of fun, mystery, and gripping in all sorts, in the words it was explained. They met monfrits, grishaws, ghorks and what not but the journey continued. The whole story is the depiction of what has fallen in the span of only two nights and a day.
Creating such a fine story of around 400 pages out of this much small measures of time mentioned, is worth admiration.
The concept of non-humans was so much relevant to the Death Eaters. Monfrits seems relevant to Dementers, leaving the good-ones aside(like Kiliarn in this one). And also, like the Vampires a bit as they also had been shown allergy from Silver-touch. Grishaw was chosen from dog's breed but presented more like the Zombie-Dog. Luwan and Meg were just like muggles. Even finding these common trails also, the story is so much different.
However, at three different points, I find bit of grammatical mistakes in sentence formation which doesn't create proper meaning out of those respective sentences. Though, understandable due to the steady story-line in its smooth stream.
Story is more like soaking and sinking-in at the same time. Hard to keep this book aside once started it.
I wish if this continues for more. Waiting for the second book in series. Hope it'll also have the same or more fun and amusement.

The story revolves around a teenage boy, Luwan who is from a small suburb Brida tucked in a mountainous region of Malingo. He manages meeting ends by collecting herbs living atop a hillock. He has an unknown ambiance of strength and intelligence that he is yet to discover. His love for his sister is immense. Meg is the solicitous sister who'd do anything to keep her brother alive! She remembers that her parents left him in her safe hands and she knows very well that her brother though proficient of many mysteries is yet a kid in her eyes.
Instead of some teen love platitude, the story advances with the sibling adventures. It is when he refuses paying taxes to the henchmen of Lord Gruwak, that he invites trouble, for himself and his sister, and soon are pursuing cities, to save their lives. A fantastic world of horrors and surprises awaits Luwan and his sister at every part since their breakout from Brida.
Review : To be honest when it comes to fantasy genre I expect less from Indian authors. The worst is when it's not based on some mythological plot. But after I read this book, I was proved wrong by the expertise of the author.
Author gave an adroit introduction about the boy, his family and his friends and the great escape. I loved how the book took off with so many adventures and so many surprising stratagems.
I fell in love with the character of Killiarn and he's one of those characters without whose appearance the story would be tedious! I liked the way his character transpires with the scenes.
The pace is good and the story grasps your attention with adequate twists and turns. I like the story, the narration, the plot, the characters but the one thing that I felt lacking was profundity. I must admit, I did like it better than I initially thought I would. Waiting for the next book in the series. Recommended to fantasy and adventure lovers, specially if they want to read one written by Indian author.

He makes a choice to flee from the village along with his sister in a world that is full of danger, with help of Magical book, by solving riddles. The siblings embarkment on the journey, puts them into more problems as the assassins, Ghork riders, starts chasing them. But, then story changes, when Luwan meets Kiliarn, a drunkard, merchant by profession, who agrees to help them and further the story takes a thrilling turn....

⚜ Tbh, the plot is so well organized, well constructed. There is so much suspense, so much mystery in every page, within every character, that no reader can put down the novel....

⚜ Moving to the language of the book, it is simple & lucid, easily enough for any kind of reader. The Author's narrative style, the character development, in all, every little thing defines strength of this book. Truly, a fast-paced, fantasy novel, each chapter being a page turner, nail biting, exciting, adventure story. (Well, words fall really short to describe this amazing book)....

⚜ And not to forget to mention Sudhir Kumbhar, the person behind the designing of cover. He surely deserves an appreciation for this attractive, illustrious cover page, which leaves every reader to wanting to read the novel....

Inkredia - Luwan of Brida
Danger looms tall. Mystery runs deep.
It seems foreign right? Atleast for me it was gibberish until I read the blurb which totally grabbed my attention and had forced me to read it and I am not all regretting my decision because I got to learn many things about Ghork riders, non human beings as well as walls which have life. Any part of this story didn't fail to amuse me. Every time I was worried how this boy from Brida would escape, the author would retort me with a surprise.
The story is a lengthy read with a bit diffucult vocabulary but as you read through you get immersed in the flow that you keep understanding the meaning of the words based on the situation. This is probably the first of the series and already I am waiting for the second to know what Luwan is going to do at the tower.
The characterization was fantastic and I really felt sad when one by one was leaving the story. Just like how I wished the story to not end I didn't want the characters to leave as well. Out of all I enjoyed the company of snow the superfast and super intelligent horse.
Mr. Sarang Mahajan's hardwork has been clearly seen through each hurdle Luwan was passing as there was a new twist everytime which could leave you with goosebumps. There are many nervous situations and be prepared to skip your heart beat now and then while reading it.
The title is apt as it is describing the importance of the place as well as the most importany man of the story and yet the cover is a bit confusing though it is colorful.
I must say it is a dangerous yet exciting journey of Luwan along with his sister Meg accompanied or I must say guarded by Kiliarn and his two horses Snow as well as Blaze.

A lucid boy Luwan was facing danger in front of his life. Somebody was behind him, who was he, nobody knows but he wanted only one thing, Luwan’s life. Luwan, the protagonist, starts running here and there and discovers many mysteries. Inkredia- Luwan of Brida is a mysterious book written by author Sarang Mahajan. It is a good long read of 350+ pages but it was nail biting story. Story had many turns and till the end, suspense was not clear. This thrilling book keeps reader attached to it. End of the story is marvellous.
Things I liked were-
i) Language of the book was easy and comfortable.
ii) Narration style was stupendous and mesmerizing. Maturity in writing was clearly visible.
iii) When I opened the book, colourful map at backside of the cover was the first attraction point.
iv) Plot was well developed and executed. The story revolved around Luwan of Brida.
v) A number of characters were used and most of the characters were portrayed stunningly. Names were unique and different.
vi) Book cover was pretty attractive and eye catchy.
vii) Title of the book was catchy and only after reading more than half of the book, I realized the idea behind it.
There was nothing as such which I disliked about this book.
Overall book was an excellent read and it did not disappointed me. I strongly recommend this book for fiction lovers.
