During a visit to see Spenser in Wyoming, Tanner and Spenser discuss the first Tanner. And after Spenser is hired by a client, Tanner and Romeo tag along to lend a hand.
From REMINGTON KANE ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF TANNER - A Tanner Novel - Book 19
Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.
Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.
He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.
Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.
The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.
He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.
Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.
By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.
This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.
When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.
Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.
Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.
Remmington Kane writes with his glorious mayhem and destruction!!! One Hundred Years of Tanner is book 19 in Remmington Kane's Tanner series. This book can be read as a standalone. It is also a great lead-in and hook for first time readers of this series. Best of all it shares the complete 100 yr. history, the how's, when's, why's of the Tanner Legend, for those who follow the series (ME). Keane O'Connell is the first of only 7 men to hold the Tanner name. He also began The Book of Tanner. A written record of 'his' history. Tactics, strategies developed over the years. And what personal info each choose to add. A hitman. Considered a ghost, a myth, even a legend, Tanner came to life in 1916. "As a Tanner, I've lived by a set of rules. I made money killing, yes, a lot of damn money, but I never went against my code." There are Seven Rules... Dark humor, action packed scenes, thrilling, unpredictable twists and turns. The current Tanner visits with family and history. And also...bad guys ;). I received this book as an ARC. I am voluntarily posting this review. Tanner 19 is filled with entertaining excitement and will hook you for Remmington Kane books !!! If not already....
I stopped reading the Tanner books a couple of years ago when I was all caught up, but I decided to get back into them, starting where I left off. It was a very good decision.
This book has the current Tanner (#7) and Romeo visiting Tanner #6 and helping him out with a little job, but, being Tanner, something else comes up and the body count climbs. Interweaved with this story is the story of Keane O'Connell and the beginning of the Tanner line 100 years ago. Keane is the first Tanner, the one who created the Tanner myth, the Tanner rules and the Book of Tanner. The book is a written record of Tanner jobs and tactics and lessons learned over the years, with each Tanner updating the book.
Lots of action and hard to put down. I stayed up past my bedtime to finish this one and I’ll probably do the same with the next one. That’s the way this whole series has been.
This book was different and I can only assume that everyone who is invested in Tanner has been wondering how it all began and how there is a book of the history of The Tanners, well this book gave it to us. I enjoyed it and think it was needed so us readers can appreciate Tanner that much more. I am so happy that Tanner suggested the little boy he met a few books back! I have been hoping that he will be the next Tanner, now that is going to be a very important book and can't wait to read how it develops. As always I am a Tanner groupie and I liked to see Cody make an appearance around his family.
This is a great KU library read and addition to the Tanner series. Romeo and Tanner have traveled to help Spencer with a job. The Book of Tanner, a diary of sorts, written by each of the Tanners beginning with the first one in the early 1900's, comes into play. And the story alternates between the creation of Tanner 1, the transition to Tanner 2, and the job the contemporary Tanners 6 and 7 and Romeo have taken on. It's a thrilling and illuminating read, one I recommend for Tanner fans.
Tanner 7, aka Cody Parker, also Tom Meyers, with Sara take a vacation while their home in New York is being remodeled, Tanner 6, Spencer, shows Tanner their history as written down by all the previous Tanners. This is a tale you're going to enjoy, seeing how everything started, improved, and made more efficient by each successive Tanner. Tanner 8, Robert Waller, Tanner's war buddy, takes over, and the legend lives on. Thanks for the history lesson.
Nothing like going home and seeing family. The writer introduces us to the first Tanner. We not only get the chance to see the making of the legend but the true makings of the man. The back and forth between the past and present was done effortlessly. This story not only gave is a leisurely stroll down memory lane but a look at the passing of the guard and how the book came.to be. This also opens up.something inside Tanner, that I'm sure we get a look at in the next adventure.
I enjoyed it. Not only did it deal with the current Tanner but explained how Tanner started. We got to meet Tanner One and Two. Lots of action with a high body count. Just what you expect from a Tanner story. A good read where you don’t have to stop and think about anything, just enjoy the writing. I’m a fan. Recommended
This was a total review of how "Tanner" came to be. Very very interesting, particularly if one has read all the earlier Tanners and I have. Hard to imagine how the story of a Tanner came to be as I never imagined I would enjoy reading about an assassin but this author knows how to keep the readers interest from the beginning to the end.
Reading Tanner books is like coming home ... the dysfunctional yet honorable protagonist keeps your attention focused and Remington Kane is constantly developing interesting story lines. Already waiting for Tanner 20.
The book was the beginning of opportunities for our hero to provide his particular skills toward bad guys. With his association with Joe Pullo, he can do what only a Tanner can do.
This is an excellent book. Well, Tanner is working in current day and time and the former beginning Tanner story takes place. It covers years of how he came to be Tanner and I love how the end of the book is that you will have to read it to find out.
Love everything about the Tanner series! A modern-day superhero. The storylines are simply fun! Mr. Kane, I am a fan for life. I look forward to reading the rest of your works!
As the title suggests, this book goes back to the beginning and the 1st Tanner. Also a current adventure, but that is secondary to the history behind Tanners 1 and 2.
Wow. Just wow. 'One Hundred Years of Tanner' was so, so good. I absolutely loved the story line. I truly enjoyed learning about the previous Tanners. The first Tanner, Keane, set the bar for every one thereafter. His story plays such a huge party of this Tanner's life and the how's and why's of each contract. Definitely a must read. I can't wait to read more.
