Rate this book
Fan into Flame is a multilayered narrative with the nuances of a thriller as the author unveils dramatic events that took place when he was a soldier in Ethiopia, and the serenity that he encounterers after his 'rebirth'. The story spans through the history of colonial and independent Kenya. Rev. John Gatũ's passion for his work as a servant of God, brings out the best in everyone he interacts with, no matter what their station in life. His role as an agent of peace and positive change in the church, his country and beyond, cannot be overemphasised.

Fan into Flame is such a masterpiece on a Journey of self discovery to Christianity for an African man, born in a time when African traditions were deep-rooted in the community and some of the practices were in conflict with Christianity e.g female circumcision.

The different phases of John Gatu's life are an interesting read as one is able to walk with him in the narrative. The style of writing adopted by the author is an easy read and therefore easy to grasp and relate to historical incidences in the world and more so, those that took place in Kenya. A good read for any Christian or any historian. Great Autobiography
