The Story is On The Cover
Rarely do books that feature well-defined physical specimens get a boost from an accurate cover. This one does and it helps because mega movie star Red Miller (on the right) and hospital nurse Caleb Forester get all lumpy and tongue tied and off-the-wall hot for each other as soon as they meet. This despite the fact that Red is deep in the closet with an actress as his beard, and Caleb is very wary of any relationship worming its way into his life for reasons which are not quite explained until someone evil shows up at the hospital.
This one features some important appearances by the MCs from the first book, doctor Dean Harper and Noah Silver, but it is basically a straight-on tale of lust and missed chances told in alternating POV chapters that bring us some clarity every step of the way. Red is especially fleshed out, much more than the stereotypical celebrity hiding in the closet, and his angst, while profound, does not seem to cripple his desire for Caleb, or the truth.
Caleb is such a neat character, wrapped up in his little fantasy world of mindless entertainment, yet very practical about his life while terrified as to what could happen after evil pops up into his life once again. That evil is compounded by another which finds its way into Red's life, and the result is a chapter or two of hurt, angst and near violence which could have used some more depth and detail in its resolution.
But, so what. We get our HEA, a sneak peek at one of the MCs in the next book in the series, and a couple of guys who live up to their cover potential.
