When Sam visits his new girlfriend, Yasmine, he discovers that she has hanged herself. Devastated, he gets drunk instead of calling the authorities. Detectives Cooper and White soon determine that foul play was involved in the death, and everything points to Sam having killed Yasmine.
Sam knows he's innocent, so he sees no other option but to become a fugitive. He must find the killer or risk going to trial where there's a big chance he'll get convicted. He believes the killer can be found at the shady strip club where Yasmine once worked.
In the process of seeking the killer, he starts to realize that Yasmine had a secret that she kept from him. A dangerous secret that could lead to his own death if he digs deep enough.
NOTE: GIRL WITH A SECRET is a stand-alone murder mystery with no explicit sex and little violence. If you're a fan of Rachel Abbott, Agatha Christie, and Toby Neal, you will likely enjoy it.
I chose this rating because the author could have put some good action parts into the book. It would have been much more interesting. As it was, the story line had some good parts to it. I would have liked to read more about the home life of the detectives, more about the scenery of the town in the story. Also, I guessed who the perpetrator was early on because there weren't any other characters mentioned who could have filled the part. I did like that there was a "twist" to the perpetrators character .
