Game Prototyping using Phaser: Create 100s of games with Phaser and the Legends of Renown Deeds (LoRD) Gaming System.

Rate this book
This workbook guides you in Agile/Scrum Game Prototyping for game development using the Phaser JavaScript Framework. It is aimed at both learning novices (those who enjoy “learning by doing”), and at experienced programmers in web application development; and, of course, those who want a finished game in 30 days from their own designs and efforts. With this in mind, you will do a lot of writing, thinking, and coding in HTML5 and JavaScript using the Phaser Game Framework and the Legends of Renown Deeds Gaming System.

In this guide, I show each step of my Agile/Scrum Game Prototyping process, and my rationale behind those decisions so that you can adopt or modify them for your own game productions. The Source Code Appendix is well-commented so you can easily understand my approach and keep focused on your conversion process into your final game prototypes.

This workbook is not a tutorial on HTML5, CSS3 nor JavaScript programming language. If learning any of these technologies is what you are seeking, I provide well-commented source code in both Phaser v2.8.1, current Phaser v3.x available functions, standard JavaScript and ES6.

Therefore, my workbook is written for small- to medium-sized, business-to-consumer (B2C) game developers who sell physical or soft digital-goods. If you are a game development hobbyist, student or teacher, you should still find a wealth of information on project management, game design, game mechanisms, game mechanics, network technology and insider tips on the Phaser JavaScript Framework and Agile/Scrum Game Prototyping. Within these scopes mentioned, there are several types of indie-developers who would benefit mostly from this workbook

- Students of Game Design Theory and Development.
- Former Flash Game Developers —like myself and thousand others— who are evaluating the Web/JavaScript as a primary sales channel or trying to determine simply where to go since next month (September, 2016!)]( only 10 websites are exempt in the coming Flash ban.
- Established game companies looking to explore new sales channels on the Web and develop an "agile/scrum software process in simulation prototyping".
- New game start-ups, hobbyists, and those curious on developing entertainment software for Web "App Stores".

A source code appendix is included in the Amazon Kindle and Paperback editions. However, the Bonus Download Content is not included in the Amazon Editions. You receive a 50% discount for the Bonus Download Content by following the instruction in this Amazon Editon.
