London is burning, and the fae are holding the matches.
I am Cassandra Liddell: FBI Special Agent and bad-ass Pixie. After barely surviving my last assignment, I'm on the hunt for answers about my past, when bombs start exploding all over London. Fae terrorists have attacked and thrown the city into chaos.
To make matters worse, my best friend Scarlett has been abducted, and her captor is playing a twisted game of “Simon Says," sending me riddles paired with impossible tasks. Roan, a seductive fae warrior, is willing to help me … but of course he has a price. One I’m not sure I’m willing to pay.
Hounded by supernatural pursuers and hunted by the CIA, I'm racing against time to save Scarlett, and to stop London from burning to the ground. Rage is simmering under the surface, and when it boils, I'll unleash a fire of my own.

I just had a hard time getting through this. And that's really entirely about Roan - who he is and how the heroine deals with him.
I have disliked Roan since the first meeting. He was utterly shit to her - accusing her of dumb shit (hilarious, because we know she wasn't manipulating him with her powers, and from the end of the last book, we know that Roan has been stalking and manipulating her for years before this meeting) and treating her with utter disdain. Repeatedly calling her a terror leech, even when he knows she doesn't know what that is, or anything about all this.
Roan set up their first encounter, where she was jumped and beaten by two men who were trying to rape her, so that he could swoop in and save her ... which would in theory gain her trust so he could use her later. It was beyond gross. And the authors released a free short from his POV that did NOT make this better. IMO, it made it worse. In book 1 he told her that he didn't know the two he hired would take it so far, and it wasn't what he intended. It was still shitty, but he didn't mean for them to try and rape her ... as if that should make it all excusable. In his POV short, though, he just watches as they beat her, crack her head into the wall, and things escalate. Watches, and kind of gets off on seeing her fight. It is GROSS.
So here's this asshole. He treats her like shit he wants to scrape off his shoe (the whole "terror leech" thing being a constant refrain as he expresses disgust with her), and then she later finds out he arranged her assault, and has been following her for years because he was told she'd be key in the political drama he was dealing with. She should hate this man. But every time she's around him, she finds herself forgetting all his bullshit as she pants with lust after him. This is one of my most hated things - strong heroines who can't help their lustful addiction to a man who treats them terribly. Why do women like this? Do we not see enough of this shit in the real world? Ugh.
In this book, Roan gets even worse. I'll explain how, but it has to be in spoiler tags.
Even more hilarious is that Roan keeps growling about Cass being in over her head, in his typically condescending bullshit way, when Roan and Erline are in literally the exact same position Cass and Scarlett are in ... except Roan himself is useless. He needs Cass to find the kidnapper. So who is in over their head? Hmm??
Then, while London is in the middle of this heinous fae terrorist attack, he again demands Cass drop everything and come with him because fae will probably die if she doesn't. She says she can't leave - people are dying and she has to finish this case! - and he storms out again in a fury. He dismisses humans dying right this very moment and demands she leave because maybe she can stop this hypothetical fae bullshit political drama and prevent a hypothetical fae war. He gives no fucks about humans, and is a ball of rage that she doesn't care more about fae. Roan has the personality of a clogged subway toilet at rush hour.
This is all bad enough, but it is made worse by the fact that every time Cass is with Roan, she becomes a panting, spineless bag of lust. And every time he needs her help, she folds and helps him. Why does she never tell this narcissistic asshole to eat shit and die? Why does she never tell him to sort out his own goddamn messes? And maybe rather than continually rescuing his useless asshole friend, she should tell him to save everyone some trouble and just leave her in whatever hole the bitch falls in, since she'll just fall in another hole in a couple days.
All that is a bummer, because I like Cass, and I like the overall story with the fae and Cass's backstory. But everything Roan touches turns to shit, and that includes Cass's personality. Now that we're going deeper into fae bullshittery, I don't honestly know that I can stomach it, because I know he'll be involved more. I'm going to pause here, and see if I feel driven to continue after I read something else to clear my palate.
2 Stars... Unfortunately, I chose to DNF this book... I really enjoyed the first book in the series and I was looking forward to this read, but the dialogue was absurd and the heroine was written as unintelligent and naïve (This piece can frustrate me like no other!)... I found myself not invested in either the characters or the ongoing storyline, so I chose to stop reading it.:(
Agent Cassandra Lidell, secret fae FBI agent, is out solving magic mysteries. But when it turns out her BFF, Scarlett, and the CIA already know about Fae and magic, and think they're all evil, humans against fae, Cassandra tries to convince her otherwise. Except her plan goes all wrong, and Scarlett gets kidnapped by none other than an evil fae.
This book is a great followup to the first. The story has developed a lot, and Cassandra has settled more into herself. The imagery in this book is really great. Cass uses her reflection magic really well. Her relationships aren't great. Scarlett is kidnapped, and she manages to turn everyone else against her, but that's what the evil fae wants. In the end, she's managed to put things right, but she still has some work to do. Good thing there's a book 3.
I liked the first book, but this book just had way to much really bad language, and some dumb things that did not need to add to the story. . It did not improve it for me.....DNF
I am ridiculously invested in this series and I am not ashamed about it!😂
The mystery, the friendship, the loyalty, the pain and the utter chaos is to die for! A perfect blend of total deliciousness.
The tension between Roan and Cass is amazing. It’s frustrating and it’s hot and I ship them SO BAD!
Odin was hilarious! I laughed so hard. Need more birdie time😂
We get so many answers and yet so many new things that also deserves answers and I can’t wait to get them!
Loved the London setting, after having visited some of the places described in the book it just intensified the pure joy of reading about it.
I got so much love for these characters!
Read: 01/05/2020 1st rating: 4 stars- I might even say 4.5 💗 Genre/sub-genres: Paranormal/Fae/FBI/magic/adult/enemies to lovers/romance Cover: 4 stars POV’s: Single - 1st person (Cassandra) Will I recommend: Yes!
Roan is still a dick, but Cassandra is growing on me and the world building continues to grow and expand and get more interesting. Definitely looking forward to a book three.
BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. I was tempted to stop reading a little more than halfway into this book. First of all, the editing was incompetent: "made the slippery," should read "made THEM slippery," and "Odette hadn't bothered to hid herself," should read "Odette hadn't bothered to HIDE herself." And there was very little about Roan to like, other than his physical appearance and his motivation to fight against fae tyranny. His actions toward Cassandra seem so selfish and self centered, never over a personal connection between them. I am finding myself wishing that Cassandra and Gabriel will be the end game not Roan. I really am not invested in him. But I stuck it out and kept reading hoping somehow something good will come of it. It doesn't. And I admit, I wanted more "spice" in the story, rather than the "hint of spice." Reading this book is like grabbing for a glass of refreshing orange juice and instead getting a dissatisfying glass of citrus pelegrino.
Very exciting story! Cassandra's friend Scarlett gets kidnapped, and Cassandra has satisfy the whims of the kidnapper while trying to capture em. The action is really good, and we find out a lot more about Cassandra's past and why the kidnapper is fixated on her. There is a little romance development between Cassandra and Roan, but not a whole lot since it wasn't the focus of this book.
Summary: Exciting plot/story Good character development Smart kickass heroine
Never felt more of a connection to the antagonist of a story...I cried! That alone knocked my socks off, and what a twist. I also liked how the co-characters were disillusioned with the main character, very realistic. And the raven was a nice touch...hilarious. I read the other series by this author. It was decent but it didn't feel as round and mature and complete as this. I'm glad I decided to try this series!
So far, this urban fantasy series has exceeded my expectations. I read book 1, found the short story prequel, and now just finished devouring book 2. Not only are the characters revealing more about themselves, the relationships among them are becoming incredibly complex with a deeper plot emerging. It’s fascinating and riveting.
Honestly, I don't care anymore about the romance side. But I live for the world building. This is so fascinating. But I would have to say, if the romance part of this ends up like in the Norse series, omg. It would annoy the heck out of me.
Yeah well the h is a pixie 🧚♂️ which means she is half fae and half human. There is still no 🔥 but there is a lot of action and I like the characters and the plot. I recommend this book 📕
Agent of Chaos is the second book in the Dark Far FBI series, and I’m loving it. I read this series several years ago, but I’d forgotten just how good it is. Now I’m totally engrossed in the world all over again and the best bit is, there’s no waiting time for the next installment to be released!
The story is set in modern London, where humans unknowingly live amongst the fae. This book is a continuation of the story started in book 1, Agent of Enchantment, and I definitely suggest you start the story from there. Not only would skipping it make the story a whole lot harder to track, but it’s also an awesome book! (Click here to read my review of book #1, Agent of Enchantment.)
Cassandra is on the trail of an evil fae that is terrorizing London. But she’s also dealing with some pretty heavy personal issues too. As the story goes on she is learning more and more about herself, as well as beginning to doubt some things that she has long believed as true about her past.
Gabriel and Roan are both important characters again in this book. Gabriel is a law abiding man and struggles with how he is feeling about what Cassandra chooses to do, which strains their relationship and changes their dynamic somewhat. Whereas Roan is also unhappy with Cassandra’s choices, but for entirely different reasons, and these two are also trying to work their way through how it affects their interactions. I really enjoy the way that these three link in with each other and especially how Cassandra tries to juggle her own feelings and ethical judgements against what others want and need from her.
Crammed in the back of a sports car on the lap of a primal predator, I had to question the life choices I’ve been making lately.
Cassandra
Once again I have really found myself being transported into this story. To me, the descriptions of the people and places are quite involving, so I was easily following a mental picture of the people and places throughout the whole book. And Cassandra is a great guide throughout the whole thing. Her observations, emotions and mental ramblings really are handled so well. Whether it be tension, humour, fear – they’re all there, and they’re all clear and relatable to the reader.
I found one scene especially amusing. There is a man who is under a spell and the things he says to Cassandra and the names he calls her, along with her responses, are particularly funny. The poor guy is completely hypnotized by ‘Goddess’ Cassandra and wants to worship her. I could picture him so clearly! (And I will admit, I was totally laughing at the poor man.) But it’s when Cassandra loses patience with his comically excessive fawning, and her response to his overly adoring titles for her, that really brought on the laughter. Where else will you ever hear “If you don’t stop it with the nicknames, I will smite the shit out of you”?
There is a fair degree of violence in this book, with some pretty gruesome moments in the fight scenes. They aren’t excessively described or gratuituously harped on, but even an unembellished statement of injury can be a bit jarring sometimes. If you’re not into brutal battles, there are a few spots in this book where you may want to ‘look away’. I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to see them coming and if you pick up a couple of pages later, you’d be able to catch on to what you missed, storyline-wise, without too much difficulty.
Those of you who have followed my reviews will know I’m all about the romance. And to be honest, there’s not much of it in this book. There are hints of it that pop up here and there, and perhaps there’s a whiff of suggestion it that will come in a future installment of the series, but we’re not there yet. But you know what? I’m enjoying the whole thing enough that I don’t really care. And I’m being dangled along by enough of a string that it keeps reeling me in, wanting more. I’ll definitely be back for the next installment, Agent of Darkness, very shortly.
The second book in the Dark Fae FBI series carries on with as much action packed tension as the first. I loved the first book in this series and the second was just as good. I love that this is set in London as it's my home city and the authors are incredibly accurate with their descriptions of the city and the places.
I love the characters the authors have created. Cassandra is learning more about who she really is in this book and I think she comes to an uncertain acceptance with herself that she is no longer just a human. I like that we get to see more of Gabriel in this book, but feel he is just a very good friend to Cass. Roan, well I really like him but did feel that we didn't get to see enough of him as I would've liked. I also wanted to see a bit more of a development in his and Cass's relationship, but don't feel we're any further in that department than we were in the first book so here's to hoping for a lot more of those two in book 3.
I'm giving this book 5 stars as although I felt we didn't get to learn any more about Roan that I would've liked, the world building and story building in this book is incredibly strong. I'm looking forward to reading book three and I'm also hoping that Alvin pops up a bit more as he's a side character I enjoy. Am really enjoying this series and looking forward to quite a few more books in this series as feel its got the potential to fill several books.
There's something about this series that is kind of addicting. I randomly decided to read the first one after reading the description rather than the dozens of other books on my TBR and I liked it. Was it my favorite? No, but I still had a good time reading it and I think this one was on the same level as the first one. It definitely wouldn't compare to some of my favorite books but there's something about it that makes me want to keep reading. This one was a bit different from the first one because rather than following a police case, Cass' best friend was kidnapped and she definitely becomes reckless and desperate in her attempt to rescue her friend Scarlett. The story is decently paced but I do think it lacks a bit in some of the character development. I feel like Roan is meant to be a love interest for Cass but it's barely there in the book and then there's Gabriel. He seems like he is a genuinely good guy but I'm not sure what role he is supposed to fill for Cass. Is he supposed to be another potential love interest or a friend figure or a big brother figure. I can't quite figure it out. I think this one leans a little more into the fantasy element of the series and goes more into Cass' fae background. Overall, I enjoyed it for the most part and I think I'm going to continue this series through to the end.

Cassandra and Roan are back . . . and London has gone to hell in a hand basket! Attacks left and right, Cassandra struggling to find her best friend who was taken and the battle between two men who both seem to have a thing for Cassandra.
Cassandra managed to team up with Roan and some other scary fae to rescue her best friend and Roan’s friend, but in the process she learns more of her background . . . some that may break her. And she learns there’s a war coming and she’s a key supposedly, but she isn’t sure that’s true.
As it all comes to an end in this book, she’s naked under a blanket at Roan’s cabin once again (can they just hook up already?!) and Roan tells her the same thing even her human best friend said . . . a war is coming!
On to the next book, and if the slow burn keeps up, I may keel over and die! 🖤
Cassandra is an FBI agent who was called to work in London, England due to her skills as a profiler. Through her journey she discovers she is pixie and there is a war brewing between humans and the fae world. Her best friend and is captured and she must unravel the murders to find the killer and save her best friend. She a smart woman who knows how to take care of herself and willing to put her life on the line to save everyone.
This is the second book in the Dark Fae FBI book series and this was another book I just couldn’t put down! I will say the killer was easier to point out but the connections and the story line were still super suprising with such a twist. I will say the the main character is slightly more unhinged in this book but under the circumstances I would be too. I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend!
Interesting story and filled with all manner of legendary creatures. I thoroughly enjoyed trying to work out the puzzle Cassandra faced (identifying her foe) but all too quickly I realised who the culprit was and for some reason, even by book 2, I still can’t warm to the main character. She seems to lack… depth? Moral fibre? Logic? Can’t quite put my finger on it but I often grimace when she chooses a path which always seems like a foolish one. That being said, it’s worth a read and I probably will read the next instalment.
Cassandra's friend Scarlett is abducted by a psychotic fae who wants Cassie to perform a few impossible tasks. In the meantime Cassandra is dealing with her new half fae status and trying to figure out what that means for her future.
This book was fast paced and exciting like the first one and I can't wait to read the next one.
This story had been excellent from the moment I picked it up. Could do with a bit of closer editing as there were several errors in spelling and repeat words but they did not detract from the amazing story.
Author was so stupid to include all these purchases she made yet she had no money. She kept talking about how much money she owed Gabriel but then in the next chapter she was buying more stuff. Super annoyed with her personality and whiny character. I will not read the third book
