I’ve been a long time Lori Foster fan. What really made this story work for me was Sahara. She was not the typical heroine. She was independent and strong in a way that doesn’t always translate well in stories. She knows what she wants and isn’t apologetic. She is sassy, but it’s used in ways that enhances the story. There’s a sweet and vulnerable side to her as well.

Brand has been on Sahara’s radar for a while now. They have an instant attraction that they both seem to fight in their own way but when Sahara is threatened something shifts. He is a sexy protector that matches the feisty Sahara well. They’ve got good chemistry.

The plot was interesting. The writing excellent. The pacing strong. We got to catch up with a few familiar faces, which was great as well. Overall, another great addition to the series.

Safety: No others after they get together. No rape though there is the threat of it. Yes to abuse and captivity.

➳After one long sit down for this puppy, I was able to finish it with a BANG of story that captivated me indeed with its drama and angst...

➳Keeping this review nice and sweet... The two main characters have such a powerful chemistry that I was surprised at how much I truly did like the story. Sahara and Brand have their ups and downs, but no matter what, their chemistry brings them back together. This is a story filled with powerful drama that is mixed with the correct balance of lust, passion, and enforcement. I highly recommend this novel for those who are seeking something that is not just "sex" sort of say, but also has that side of the "bodyguard" drama that is needed for those who seek this kind of romance.

➳Thank you to the publisher for providing an ARC copy of this puppy, I'll have to take a look at the previous books in the series and give them a shot in the future to come!

What I love about Lori Foster's writing is the idea of Strong Women. She will create a woman who knows how to deal...Deal with business, adversity, danger and handle all of it in stilettos. In fact, Sahara Silver's fashionable heels almost became another character of their own...and in Real Life would have an Instagram and Twitter account, I bet...

But I digress...My meaning is that in almost all of the reading I have done with Foster, the women hold their own with the remarkable men Foster gives us...Because, let's face it... Over the years, Foster has given us hours, upon hours of men we have enjoyed reading about.

Brand Berry is no different and in this final entry to the Body Armor series, he makes us fall hard for him.
I hadn't read all of the books, so I can seriously say, this was an easy read without the past experience of the series. The other characters and their women do make appearances, but I didn't feel left out wondering what was happening at all.

We are thrown into our story with the push pull of both Sahara and Brand verbally jousting about why he is in Sahara's office at Body Armor. Brand is a well known and successful MMA fighter. Many of Brand's personal friends from the sport have joined the security team and Sahara wants Brand, too. They have crossed paths and there has always been a current running...a spark that could flash at any moment and it is that spark and desire which has always caused Brand to say no to Sahara's offers....

Well, that isn't exactly true...
There is one other thing causing him to say no....

Sahara is Bossy...
No...She is really Bossy, Like Boss Woman...
Like Large and In Charge Bossy...
That is all well and good in Brand's eyes...as the Boss...
But he is Not A Man To Be Bossed...

He knows he couldn't work For her...He knows he wants her too much and that would cause all sorts of work place problems...because he also knows she is wanting him, too if that office kiss means anything. So nope, he will think on doing that last MMA fight to handle the expenses he has to take care of the woman who birthed him...Not the people who actually raised him and made him the man he is today.

Sahara knows deep down, her desire for Brand is more than having him join Body Armor. She has a pull towards him and it won't let go...She also has another feeling equally as strong... and that is the undying belief her brother Scott is not dead but alive and hiding somewhere. Body Armor was his baby and she was part of it as his sister... but when it seemed like he had been killed at sea, she took over in order to save it until he returned. She streamlined it, modernized and made it even more successful by changing the image of the company. With Ex-MMA fighters as personal bodyguards, she brought the sexy to security.

Sahara is thinking about all of these things as she approaches her home. She sees the split-timing of SUVs blocking her driveway and the road in back of her. She has her phone out and is instructing the team through Brand's phone line what to do as she knows she is about to be kidnapped.

The line goes dead and Brand is having trouble breathing for a moment...

This woman who he has only kissed and bantered over working for her has now become the most important thing... He will not allow whoever has taken her to survive...

The team, his personal friends, are skeptical at first but then agree, Sahara knew what she was doing by calling him and not them. It seems this kidnapper had all of them under surveillance and wouldn't know Brand...

This is only the start of a suspenseful, sexy and yes, heartfelt read. Foster takes us on the path of good guys vs bad with Brand and the Body Armor crew fighting and outsmarting their opponents. There is also extra intrigue by players hidden in plain sight.

This has all of the trademark chemistry Foster is known for...Sahara and Brand are yummy together... Two bossy people... both figuring out when to give in. Both equals in the bedroom and boardroom and we get the pleasure of both.

We also get the delight in the heart of it all, too. Brand's love of his family and then his conflicts with his birth-mother are fully shown. Sahara has her own issues with her missing brother, Scott. All of these things are explored causing us to see how human these people are.

This may be the end of the Body Armor series...but I think Foster has some other ideas to keep all of these characters alive. Down the line, I see another series coming with one of the characters being the focus, doing things which will help others...Ms. Foster, I will be looking to see what you have brewing on that score...

Hi, it's me. The one who hasn't read the first three books in this series. The only thing that was really explained from the start was his weird family, so I'm guessing it was in one of the previous books. It was talked about like everyone should know it already.

Overall, I loved Brand and Sahara. They were so hot together. I loved their interactions not only with each other, but also with the rest of the team (really makes me wish I had read their books). The brother and bad guys were a piece of work.

Sahara's story is finally here. She's the boss of the Body Armor Bodyguard Agency - ever since she inherited it after her brother disappeared and was presumed dead. But Sahara still believes he is out there somewhere.

But the most important thing for now is ... convince Brand to work for her. But he's still resisting all her offers.

Brand would be interested in working for the agency, but he doesn't mix business with pleasure and he is SO interested in pleasuring Sahara. But she's only interested in him for his professional talents ... right??

And what happens when some creeps kidnap her to get her to tell them where her brother is?

Could he really still be alive? And what business did he have with those idiots?

Sahara will definitely need Brand to find out.

What will happen with Sahara & Brand??
Will we get a happily ever after??
And will her brother be found?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ☺

Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review.

This is the best book of the series, too bad, it's the last one. This is an excellent example of what I class as Romantic-Suspense Lite. Romance, suspense/mystery on the light side with a touch of humor. This book does it all and extremely well. I can't wait to read what Lori Foster does next.

Throughout the series there has been an overarching mystery: What actually happened to Scott Silver, the founder of Body Armor. Sahara has been determined to make Body Armor the very best name in personal protection and the legacy her brother left her is now one of the top. She has always maintained that Scott is alive and she wants Body Armor to be better than when her brother left it and she has succeeded. Now, if only her brother would return. Everyone thinks he's dead, everyone but Sahara.

Brand Berry was blown away by the sassy, take charge, beautiful, compassionate Sahara Silver. Sahara is after Brand to leave the MMA fight world and join Body Armor, and has been for months. Sahara knows that he will make an excellent addition to her staff and if not her staff, then possibly her bedroom. For Sahara, the her brother's agency always comes first, but Brand needs more. He has been putting off both the invitation to join Body Armor and the invitation to Sahara's bed. When she’s kidnapped by men searching for her missing brother, he doesn’t hesitate to join the Body Armor Boys and kick some kidnapper a--. After the rescue he makes it his priority to cover Sahara, every single delectable inch of her.

The kidnapper wants more from Sahara than just the money he feels Scott owes him. He wants Sahara and is not going to give up just because a muscle bound Neanderthal appears to have staked a claim on her.

Sahara wants Brand to join her security firm, Body Armor.

Brand wants Sahara.

Not willing to compromise, Brand decides that his number one person to protect is Sahara. Especially after she is kidnapped by people claiming to know where her brother is.

The action take place at high velocity with Sahara in crosshairs and its all up to Brand and her loyal MMA fighting staff of Body Armor to get her out alive.

Sizzling sex appeal, Brand's and Sahara's tumultuous relationship finally comes to head!

Caution: There is overall dark and disturbing vibe, with difficult topics that are not for the light hearted reader.

I’ve enjoyed Lori Foster’s Body Armor series, but I’ll admit I’ve been waiting for this story. Since the first book I’ve been a bit enamored by agency owner Sahara Silver. She is tough, she is skilled, she is dedicated, and she is persistent and I’ve enjoyed her interactions with Brand Berry as she has tried to recruit him for her stable of ex-MMA fighters turned bodyguards. Fast Burn was fun and sexy, but it also had heart making it a joy to read.

Sahara Silver inherited Body Armor when her brother was declared dead and even though she still doesn’t believe he is dead, she had dedicated herself to making the company bigger and better which is why she has recruited the best men for the job. I liked that Sahara was tough, capable, but also fair and obviously good to the people she employed because they were loyal and protective of her to a fault. She wants Brand Berry to come and work for her because she knows he will be excellent at the job, but if he works for her then that will complicate that attraction that burns between them.

Sahara and Brand were a good match, even though she drove him crazy with her need to do things on her own even when the odds were stacked against her. I love that he admired her resourcefulness and realized quickly she was more than capable of helping herself, but he wanted to protect her all the same. Sahara was so intuitive about Brand’s family complications and I appreciated that she wanted to help him even knowing it would make him angry. I understood her reasoning and while she did eventually see Brand’s side of things, I also think he realized it was her way of helping him even when he didn’t want it.

These were two stubborn alpha people and so it was interesting watching them figure out how to be together and make their life work.
Ms. Foster gave us plenty of time with the crew from the first three books which was nice as we got to see where they are in their relationships and it gave readers good closure to this series.

Fast Burn ends the Body Armor series on a high note with memorable characters, a fast paced action story, and some burning love!

Yes, Sahara amused him. She also kept him on a keen edge of lust. And when she smiled in that certain way, he had no idea what to expect…but he knew he had to be ready.

It's been entirely too long since I read a Lori Foster book. To be perfectly honest, I didn't even bother to read the blurb before adding this book. When I'm in the mood for a steamy contemporary romance with a dash of suspense, Foster always hits the spot. Now here's my confession...
And I'll warn the reading order OCD squad to look away right now for fear of your head exploding...
Because this was the first book I read in this series.

*pause for dramatic effect*

What can I say? I love to live dangerously.

But you know what? I had absolutely no trouble getting right into the thick of it and fully invested in the Body Armor series.

If you know me at all, then you already know that I love me a strong and kick-*ass heroine. And Sahara Silver was the epitome of it! Running an elite bodyguard agency, Sahara is no slouch herself. She's sassy, determined, a wiz with a firearm, and tenacious when it comes to what she wants. And what she wants is the sinfully sexy MMA fighter, Brand, to join her agency. But Brand isn't one to mix business with pleasure, and he knows that the fiery chemistry between Sahara and him will prevent any business relationship she hopes to have. He won't sign with her agency, but he will give into her other advances.

I loved the way Sahara is a boss lady at work, but she lets Brand take the control in the bedroom without losing any of her spark. I loved Brand's sweet, protective, and deliciously sexy nature. And I absolutely loved the two of them together.

The romance takes place in the middle of the mystery of Sahara's missing brother finally coming to a head. Everyone believes the man dead, but Sahara knows it can't be true. With plenty of baddies jumping out of the shadows, Brand and Sahara never see a dull moment. And with a sizzling romance tying it all together, Fast Burn was certainly one delicious burn. It was well paced, with great characters, and plenty of steam. It hit the spot just right for me and satisfied my Lori Foster craving.

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I was really thrilled for this to be Sahara’s book. She has an interesting situation as the boss of Body Armor, an elite bodyguard agency. But she wasn’t the original owner. Her brother was. Now that he has gone missing, Sahara is the one running things. She is looking to add another member to her team when Brand Berry, but he isn’t as accommodating as she wishes him to be.

It’s generally a hit or miss for me when it comes to Lori Foster books. However, I found that this book kind of landed in the middle for me. While I liked a lot of aspects, including the hero and heroine, some other areas were a little flat. I mainly think the pacing was a little slow, especially at the beginning. This is concerning for me since this is meant to be a Romantic Suspense novel, so pacing is always key.

But the romance between Brand and Sahara does kind of make up for it. I enjoyed their banter and I especially love Sahara’s strong personality. We don’t get to see heroines this competent and up-front in romance novels so I really appreciate the author for creating someone who is so strong and independent. Sahara is definitely a heroine I would love to be friends with.

Fast Burn was the fourth book in Lori Foster’s Body Armor series.

Sahara Silver, self proclaimed shark, owned the Body Armor Security Agency after the death of her older brother. Although gorgeous, she was fierce, always in control, independent, resourceful and bossy.

Brand Berry was an MMA Fighter that Sahara was trying to recruit for her agency. They had off the charts chemistry. He was still after a fighting title and wasn’t ready to leave yet; however, several of his friends were Sahara’s bodyguards so they were in constant contact.

Fast Burn was told with a dual POV. Foster took us through the bantering and foundation of Brand and Sahara’s relationship development while simultaneously providing a suspenseful vibe surrounding her dead brother. I loved the storyline and it wrapped up but there were a couple threads that I would have liked to have more detail on their conclusion. It was implied but I totally craved more detail. Otherwise, it was well written, well developed, action packed, fast paced, humorous, intriguing and totally entertaining.

As expected, Foster included the entire gang from the series as central to the storyline. I loved the loyalty, bantering, and overall fun they brought to the series. At this point, it’s not announced whether Foster will continue the series but I would love a story for Scott....hint, hint.

The storyline held my interest all throughout the book, it was well paced, enough drama and suspense to keep you turning the pages and I loved watching Brand and Sahara come together.
These two made me laugh and they made me swoon, they had amazing chemistry and I loved how they just got each other.

Personally, I have been WAITING for Sahara's book. Other previous books in the Body Armor series just weren't my favorite. They weren't bad by any means. They just didn't live up to what I loved about these characters in the Ultimate series. Sahara Silver was a special character in this series for me and she didn't let me down!

Sahara Silver is the boss of Body Armor Bodyguard Agency. She inherited it when her brother went missing and is presumed dead. Sahara believes her brother is out there somewhere and won't stop looking for him. Keeping her brother's business around for him when he returns is the most important thing to Sahara. She hires nothing but the best, and she wants Brand Berry... bad. But Brand doesn't want to work for Sahara, he just wants her. But can the two learn that mixing business with pleasure isn't a bad thing? And what happens when Sahara's brothers disappearance comes back to haunt her?

Read Fast Burn to find out!!

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

I adored Sahara’s bossy nature and take no prisoners attitude and got a kick out of how easily she lulled people into underestimating her! Brand was just as favorable with his protective and very bossy mind set, so I was surprised how far he’d compromise with Sahara on a variety of matters.

The mystery behind Sahara’s brother Scott and his disappearance gave a lively edge to the story. It also helped quicken relations between our stalwart H/h with frustrating and sometimes highly amusing results!

I never doubted these two would cause an inferno when they finally gave in, yet even I wasn’t expecting the hotness! These two clashed on so many things, yet I never doubted how perfect they were for each other! Overall, this was a great read and Foster did a brilliant job tying up plot lines!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Coffee Dates with Fast Burn

First Date: Throughout the series, we've seen Brand Berry. He is friends with the former MMA fighters who joined Body Armor and Sahara has been trying to persuade him to join. We've also been privy to the tantalizing chemistry between them. Both are stubborn, and from the onset, I was hooked. I loved their back and forth banter and when Sahara is kidnapped Brand unofficially joins the investigation.

Second Date: Sahara and Brand have this great chemistry that made for some hilarious moments that soon gave way to tenderness. Sahara is all business. She is sharp, clever with marketing and has taken her brother's company to the next level as its new owner. The team adore her, fear her and will die to protect her. It was delightful seeing her struggle with wanting Brand on a professional level and needing him on a personal one. She never lets her guard down, and it was nice seeing the softer more vulnerable side of this strong woman. Want and need soon gave way to passion and it was delightful seeing them wrestle for power in and out of the bedroom. The suspense thread comes from the overall series arc. Sahara's brother was declared dead when his boat was found at sea. Sahara has never believed him dead. Now men, one, in particular, want to know where Scott is, claiming he owes them money. When Sahara agrees to pay him, it soon becomes clear he wants something more. I have to mention how kickass Sahara is. From her attitude to quick thinking I was impressed.

Third Date: Suspense and danger-filled moments are balanced against time with the team and their wives. I loved seeing Sahara with the wives and laughed aloud a few times. Foster did a great job of sharing Scott's tale and tying up threads leaving me satisfied. Brand and Sahara's romance was at the heart of this story, and she gave us all the feels, growth and passion. It was hard to end this date, but I am excited to see what Foster brings us next. The book contains a sneak peek which shows promise. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews
Story:
Fast Burn had everything I love in a romantic suspense story! There was heat, of course. But there was also a lot of chemistry. And quite a bit of reluctance. Brand didn't want to work for Sahara, he wanted to date her. And Sahara wanted Brand any way she could get him - and she really wanted him for Body Armor. As they are both very strong characters, that made for some great dialogues with a repartee that made me both laugh and smile at times.

The suspense was palpable, especially because Sahara was kidnapped at the very beginning of Fast Burn! And it appeared that she wasn't the only one thinking her brother, Scott, hadn't really died when his boat was found capsized with his blood on it. With every page, the suspense got more tense, and so did the protective streak Brand was feeling for Sahara. Of course, Sahara knew how to take care of herself, and she really wasn't used to leaning on anyone. But Brand would not leave her alone.

The added mystery with Scott possible being alive made the suspense even better here, because Sahara had a personal stake in the case. Not only did someone want to kidnap her again to see what she knew, but she was so sure Scott would appear and then her life would be back to normal.

Fast Burn also included some very nice family moments with Brand's parents, and I loved getting that peak into his past, which had shaped him into the amazing man he was today. This is a series I'm getting the audiobooks for, because I know I will want to visit these hot bodyguards again in the future!
Characters:
Sahara is the boss of Body Armor, and since her brother's death, she has changed things around drastically. She has gotten hot, former MMA fighters to work for her. And they are all amazing. But the one she really want's seems to be able to resist everything she throws at him.

Brand is still in the MMA, and while he thinks Body Armor is a great place to work, he doesn't think he'll join. He'd much rather have Sahara join him outside of the office.

Justice, Leese, Miles and their significant others are also a part of the story, and I loved seeing how their relationships have developed since the end of their own stoires.
Writing style :
Fast Burn is written in third person perspective, past tense. The narration follows Brand and Sahara closely, so the readers also see what they see, and know what they think. The dialogues and descriptions made me feel like I was right there with them, and my heart skipped more than a few beats!
Feels :
Oh my, the suspense almost killed me! And the hotness made me melt and curl my toes at the same time. Plus there were all the other feels as well, anguish, hope, love, strength... It was a fireworks of feels.

Fave Quotes - (un)Conventional Bookviews

"I like you," he confirmed, but then added, "because you're not my boss." He surprised her by mimicking her position until their noses almost touched over the middle of her desk. She didn't know where to look. His eyes drew her, so dark they were almost black, and always filled with wickedness.

Hmm... There was an odd gallantness to their behavior in direct conflict with hardened criminals. Testing that, she sat on the side of the cot and tried to look dejected.

As if he didn't already know it, she heaved a heavy sigh and said, "It's been a trying day."
What an understatement.
And what a woman. Sahara would always be a handful... but then, Brand had very big hands.

My heart aches that this is the last book of this series. I read this in one night and picked it up again the next night to read through it again. It was great to see another side of Sahara. Brand was perfect for her. LH wrapped up this series with a glimpse of all the Body Armor men and their families. justice still cracks me up :)

This was another solid entry into the Body Armor series. Sahara has been a regular in all the other books, so I was looking forward to reading her story. She was an interesting character, being ultra-capable and driven, and I was interested to see how Brand stacked up as the hero. And for the most part he did well. Brand was able to remain strong and alpha without it requiring Sahara to suddenly turn meek and submissive.

All in all, I liked Sahara and Brand and thought he did a good job of being a strong partner to her without either of them having to assume a submissive role. Sahara was resourceful and smart most of the time, which was good. My only real issue was the way the Scott story was resolved.

There were several points throughout this story where it felt like the conversation skipped a beat.... I was left reading and rereading each of the scenes a couple-3 times, trying to see where I'd missed some dialog. In each case, it turned out that I didn't miss anything, because it was just spotty dialog. Or conversational implications were made, without anything actually being said. I find that kind of story-telling a bit frustrating.

Combine the patchy dialog with characters that felt forced & less than authentic, and this wasn't my favorite L.Foster book. As a continuation (and finish) to this series, I'm not sorry I read it. But it's unlikely it'll be one of the stories that I want to re-read. Brand and Sahara just never felt "real" to me. They never stopped being characters on a page and became "real people."

I also have to admit that in the prior series in which we first met Leese, Justice, Miles, and Brand..... I'd gotten the impression that Brand was a black guy. Then these last couple stories, as he was showing up more and more, he's a white guy. Makes me wonder if the descriptions I'd read of him in the earlier series were all my imagination. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing an interracial relationship, and thought that was where this was going. So far, all L.Foster's characters have been white, or possibly Hispanic/Latin American.... I'd actually enjoy seeing some real acceptance of the reality of different cultures, different backgrounds coming together, falling in love, building lives together.

Last..... WTH happened to Scott's girlfriend?! This whole series, we've been told time & again that Scott & his girlfriend were "killed" (though Sahara never believed that, never stopped looking).... In this book, we get to see the resolution for Scott, but there's one single mention of his "girlfriend" and nobody seems all that shook up by the fact that she did indeed die. WTF?! For a group of people that supposedly hold women in such high regard, to completely gloss over her death just felt wrong.

All in all.... I think this story fell flat.

Brand's woman drives him to distraction, “yeah.” He enjoyed it a lot. Holding the wheel tight and keeping his gaze on the road, he said, “Maybe you should save the teasing until we’re home in bed, though.” Sahara really drives her man bonkers at times, “don’t you dare soil your shirt! We’re already going to be late getting to the party. I don’t want you showing up shirtless.” Incredulous, Brand stared at her." I enjoyed the heck out of this book, I loved Sahara the girl drove Brand crazy.

This author never disappoints, such an easy, well paced read.
Sahara and Brand made a great couple, both bossy and stubborn and needing to control every situation. Maybe that sounds bad, but it made for entertaining reading. Who is the kidnapper and why? Sahara is in possible danger and Brand is determined to save her. She's a warrior herself though and is not sitting back waiting. I enjoyed the witty banter, the sexual tension and mystery behind the scenes. Great story.

Good conclusion to this series. Though it can be read as a stand-alone, the experience is richer if the previous books are read first. From the moment that Brand and Sahara met in the first book, there has been an undeniable connection that is more than just physical attraction. However, both resist it. Sahara wants Brand to join the team at Body Armor and she pulls out all the stops to make it happen, but Brand isn't having it. He knows he couldn't work for her, as that would cause too many problems in the workplace, as the heat between them wouldn't be contained for long. Besides, she is bossy. Good in a boss, not so much in a relationship. So he keeps turning her down, and she keeps pushing for him to say yes. But things change the night she is kidnapped.

I liked both Sahara and Brand. Sahara is a strong, intelligent, sassy, and dedicated to the business. She inherited Body Armor when her brother disappeared and was presumed dead. She's certain he's still alive and is determined to make the business bigger and better while she tries to find out what happened to him. I loved her interactions with all the fighters. She's a little over the top at times, but it's obvious that she respects their abilities. She also appears supremely confident at all times, though occasionally there is the smallest hint of vulnerability, which she immediately hides with attitude. And though she would never admit it, she was also a bit lonely, at least until the fighters came into her life. I loved seeing the friendships that developed, not just with them, but also with their ladies. There were some really terrific scenes that took place outside of work, where Sahara discovers that she doesn't always have to be the strong one.

Brand is an MMA fighter at the top of his game. He is honest, protective, and honorable. He isn't going to put himself in a position where he will have to compromise his values, so he keeps his distance from Sahara and her wiles. There are times when he isn't sure if she just wants him for the agency, or if she is interested in him for himself. Brand also has some things going on in his personal life that are a bit of a distraction for him. He needs to make a decision about his fight career - is he going to keep fighting, or move on to something else? Fighting gives him the money he needs for his other problem - taking care of the woman who gave birth to him, then dumped him with her sister to raise. There's a bit of resentment and bitterness there that eats away at him.

I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Brand and Sahara. Throughout the series I have laughed at seeing Sahara work so hard and get nowhere with him, and at Brand's amusement as he resists all her ploys. I liked his honesty as he made it plain to her that he wants her, but not as a boss. As much as he's determined to stay away from the agency, he wastes no time stepping up when Sahara gets kidnapped. I loved seeing him stand up to his friends and insist on being involved. I loved his controlled determination to get to her, and his care for her once he did. With the threat still out there, there was no way he was going to leave her unprotected. I liked the push and pull between them, as Brand insisted on having his way, and Sahara equally insistent that she could take care of herself. Being together 24/7 brings their attraction front and center and giving into it is just as incendiary as they expected. It is also much deeper than just physical. It was fun to see the two of them as they adjusted to both of them wanting to be in charge. Their time together also gave them time to really get to know each other. I liked how Brand appreciated Sahara's strengths, but he also saw past those to her vulnerabilities. I especially liked his attitude toward the things he learned about her brother. Sahara employed her usual tactics as a way to get past some of Brand's walls. Her methods of trying to make things easier for him with his mother were not exactly appreciated by Brand, and I wanted to smack him for not seeing what she tried to do. With both of them being such strong personalities, learning how to compromise was not an easy road, but it was a fun one to observe. I loved the ending as they both gave a little to get a lot.

The suspense of the story was really good. The mystery of her brother's disappearance was on Sahara's mind throughout the series. She was the only one who believed that he was still alive. When she is kidnapped, it is because the kidnappers believe that she knows something. The kidnapping and rescue scenes are very intense. I loved Sahara's attitude throughout, even though she puts herself at risk. There is also something very creepy about the boss of the kidnappers. His apparent obsession with Sahara adds an extra layer of intensity to the situation, as do the scenes from his point of view. The attempts on Sahara continue to escalate and she becomes more convinced that Scott is alive. The final confrontation was a real page-turner as I waited to see just how it was going to play out. There were some very interesting twists, turns, and revelations before it was all over. I loved the last scene at Body Armor.

4.5*

Fast Burn is the sexy, suspenseful conclusion to the Body Armor series. As the saying goes, they save the best for last, and in this case I am in complete agreement! Although I’ve loved each of the books in this series, this one was probably my favorite.

Sahara has been such an interesting character throughout these books, one we really haven’t gotten to know very well, so it was great to finally get her full story. While her main focus has been on finding her brother and proving he’s not really dead, Sahara’s taken the protection agency he started and revamped and improved it. She’s ballsy, bossy, and very independent. She knows what she’s wants, and she wants Brand. He’s the fighter she just can’t convince to work for her. Brand has other things in mind when it comes to Sahara, and it has nothing to do with working for her. But when her life is put in danger, because of her presumed dead brother, Brand takes it upon himself to be her protector. As if the chemistry sizzling between the 2 wasn’t hot enough, when they’re “forced” into close quarters it threatens to combust.

What ensues is a highly entertaining story that’s packed full of adventure and mystery, with secrets revealed and deceptions exposed. As Sahara, Brand, and the rest of the Body Armor crew work to discover who is behind her kidnapping, the circumstances behind her brother’s disappearance begin to emerge, adding another layer of depth to this story.
Fast-paced, with a slow burn, I really couldn’t have asked for a better end to this book, or this series.

Fast Burn is the fourth and it looks like final book in the Body Armor series. I’ve had a mixed reaction to the books in this series. I loved books two and three, Hard Justice and Close Contact, but had a lukewarm reaction to the first book in the series, Under Pressure.

My feelings about Fast Burn are all too similar to my feelings about Under Pressure. Let me explain…

This series is romantic suspense. That has meant that the bodyguards from the Body Armor Agency, former MMA fighters all, have a tendency to fall in love with the body they are guarding. But Fast Burn is a bit different, because the body that needs protection in this case is the owner of the agency, Sahara Silver.

And the man who wants to guard her is not part of Body Armor. Not that she hasn’t tried to recruit Brand Berry, but that Brand has refused to be recruited, in spite of Sahara’s patented full-court press.

Brand is interested in Sahara and not her Agency. He does not want to work for a woman that he wants to date. And a whole lot more. It makes sense to this reader. They can either have a personal relationship or a working one, but not both – especially not in their case, where both of them have the need to be in control of absolutely everything all the time. Compromise is not going to be easy for either of them.

One of the underlying plot threads in this entire series revolves around Sahara’s missing brother Scott. Scott has been missing and presumed dead for a couple of years now, after his boat was found with his girlfriend’s dead body on it and plenty of his own spilled blood along with hers. But his body was never found, and Sahara believes that Scott is out there, still alive.

When a bunch of thugs kidnap Sahara in order to get back the money that Scott owes them, one way or another, their leader believes that putting Sahara in danger will bring Scott out of the woodwork. He might be right, but before that can happen, it brings out the protective instincts of every one of the guys that Sahara has hired at Body Armor. As well as the one that she hasn’t, Brand Berry.

Sahara is now the person with the target on her back, and Brand is more than willing to step up and protect her – 24/7. But not as a member of her staff. Not at all. He just wants to protect her, and wipe the floor with the guys who are after her. Sahara isn’t sure that she can give up being in charge 24/7 in order to let someone take care of her, even for a second.

But the sharks are circling, and it’s a race to the finish. But whose?

Escape Rating C+: One of the things that made the Body Armor series so good was the character of Sahara Silver. As the owner of the agency, she has been part of every single book, and generally a fairly large part. She’s been the person that many of the women in the stories initially turn to, and she’s been kind, understanding and helpful without either giving up any of her femininity or any of her take charge agency. Either the actual agency, Body Armor, or her own personal agency as a mover and shaker in each story.

She loses all of that in Fast Burn. The whole story is all about all the guys, but particularly Brand, patting her on the head and letting her know that they’ve got this and that she really should let them take over and not worry her pretty little head. Whenever she tries to contradict or correct them, they pretty much ignore whatever she says.

While the possibility of her missing brother not only being alive but protecting her from the sidelines is certainly enough to make anyone just a bit crazy, Sahara seems to go off the rails and fall apart, giving Brand the chance to swoop in and protect her – whether she needs it or not.

As one of the characters says in one of my favorite video games, “swooping is bad”.

The men, but particularly Brand, do their level best to keep Sahara from participating in an operation that is all hers – it’s both all about her brother and all about a gang of idiots that keep trying to kidnap her and even succeed more than once. She also runs off half-cocked and puts herself in danger in ways that are definitely outside her character until this book.

This included an added filip of a trope I dislike, the one where the villain has a hard on for the female in danger and has the strong desire to take her and break her. This particular villain was much less vile than most, but that added element wasn’t necessary to ramp up the amount of danger Sahara kept landing herself in.

At the same time, I really love the character of Sahara, and I wanted to see her get her HEA as well as solve the mystery of what happened to her brother. I’ve liked all of the men that she has recruited for Body Armor, and it was fun to catch up with them a bit and see just how much they all care about her boss. I just wish it hadn’t been necessary to take away so much of Sahara’s agency to protect her.

I hope we see more characters like Sahara has been in the previous books, women who are intelligent, capable and very much in charge while still being happy and proud to be women. And we shouldn’t have to watch them sacrifice who they are to get their HEA.

A wonderful end to a great grouping of books.

Sahara made Body Armor the premier bodyguard agency after her brother was presumed dead. Hiring good looking, muscular men to guard high profile clients. Now she wanted Brand as part of that group. Brand wants something else, her!

As a mystery unravels, they grow much closer.

I loved the ups and downs of the story! I loved seeing someone who loves being the boss give in to letting someone else lead. Can't wait to see what Ms. Foster has up her sleeve for the next set of books.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoy Lori Foster’s writing style. This a story involving two strong characters, Brand and Sahara. Their relationship was fun to watch, confrontations, laughs and steam. It is a stand-alone book but I love that she brings in previous characters and family atmosphere. Enjoy!
